How to get to Residence Montelaguna by car Whether you are coming from Liberia or San Jose, the roads are paved and you do not need a 4 wheel drive. It is not far in km/miles, however, the roads are single lanes and therefore it inevitably takes longer than what the miles would indicate. Our suggestion is not to drive at night time, especially when you have just arrived as there is very poor lighting and often times, pot holes. It gets pitch black around 6:00 pm throughout the yr. Its therefore best to stay in a hotel and leave the next morning. From Liberia airport (approx 2 hours). Head towards the beaches (not towards Liberia town). As you leave the airport, you will come to a main road, turn right. You will basically stay on this road for about 1 hour. You will then see a big intersection (blinking lights) and a sign for Nicoya. Get “off” here by taking a right. You are now entering the town of Nicoya. Go always straight for about 10 minutes, and you will exit the town of Nicoya. Keep going straight and look for signs for Samara (there is a little y in the road – just keep to the right). Now you are on the road to Samara. This is a curvy road up some mountains (very beautiful scenery). It will take you around 45 minutes to get to Samara. Always go straight. Once you are in Samara, you will see a 2 story commercial center on your right called Patio Colonial. Take the road on your left. (which is in front of the commercial center). This is the road to Carrillo. Keep going straight for about 4 km/2 miles. On your right you will soon see a very large wall and a sign for Villas Playa Samara. As soon as you see this, look on your left and you will shortly see another large wall. This is the beginning of Residence Montelaguna. Go to the second entrance and come in, or beep if the bars are down (depends at what tigme you arrive). Useful phone numbers : 8887 1851, 8887 1876 From San jose airport. You want to take the CALDERA highway also known as the Autopista del Sol. Or highway 27. To do this, exit the airport and take the highway for down town San jose. Go straight on this highway until you come to a traffic light. This could take you half an hour if there is no major traffic. You have now entered the beginning of San Jose. On your right you will see a tall building and then a large park (it’s the “Central” park of Costa Rica). Pass the traffic light and keep going straight. Try and stay on the right lane as you will turn right as soon as the park ends. (There
