Addis Ababa hosts 10km Ethiopia Eritrea peace race
“I am happy with the opening of the border, my brother came back to Ethiopia after 20 years and we met,” Chalachew Addis, another participant added. Eritrea, formerly a part of Ethiopia declared its independence in 1993 after three decades of war. The two countries fought a war between 1998 and 2000, which killed
some 80,000 people, mainly as a result of a border conflict. The coming to power in April of Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, a 42-yearold reformer, changed the situation. It launched a reconciliation process, which led to a peace agreement in July.

Canada PM commends Ethiopia for 'increasing women's leadership'
Ontario to announce tax exemption for low-income workers in fall fiscal update Starting next year, Ontario workers earning less than 30K will no longer have to pay provincial income tax The Canadian Press · Nov 15, 2018
Canada’s prime minister, Justin Trudeau
Daniel Mumbere 06/11 - 15:12 ETHIOPIA Canada’s prime minister, Justin Trudeau has commended Ethiopia for ongoing reforms, specifically the increase in number of women in key government roles.
Trudeau, who spoke to Ethiopia’s prime minister Abiy Ahmed on phone, said his government is committed to supporting the ongoing reforms. Canada and Ethiopia enjoy cordial bilateral relations, cemented by development aid ($192.92 million in 2016-2017), trade worth $119m in 2017, and thousands of Ethiopians living in the Canada. Abiy, 42, has championed several reforms spanning across the political, economic, diplomatic and socio-cultural spheres, since taking office in April 2.
Having appointed a gender-parity cabinet last month, Abiy has since led the country to celebrating its first female president and first female head of the Supreme Court. The top female appointees, including the minister of peace, Muferiat Kamilhave since embarked on a nationwide peace campaign, which was launched on Monday. Despite winning praise for reforms implemented within a short time, Abiy’s government has struggled to contain inter-ethnic violence that that have displaced over 1.4 million people this year, according to the Geneva-based Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre. The office of the prime minister said Trudeau also expressed interest to visit Ethiopia.

Government sources say the plan will be laid out in the province's fall economic statement, slated to be tabled in the legislature this afternoon.
The sources say the plan will cost the province about $120 million between Jan. 1 and the end of the fiscal year. No further projections are included in the fiscal update, they say.
The sources say the tax changes will apply to 1.1 million Ontario workers making minimum wage or slightly above it, noting some other lowincome workers who currently use a combination of rebates and other measures are already spared provincial

Toronto announces plans to improve shelter system this winter, including three new respite sites
VICTORIA GIBSON PUBLISHED NOVEMBER 9, 2018 UPDATED NOVEMBER 9, 2018 COMMENTS The City of Toronto says it has mended the cracks in its shelter system – announcing details on Friday of a new plan for getting hundreds of homeless people out of the winter weather, including three new respite sites and extra staff.
The plan addresses space availability and the efficiency of Toronto’s operations in response to an ombudsman’s report in the spring that highlighted confusion over availability of spaces, miscommunication and unacceptable conditions through the coldest months of last winter. The city has bought three prefabricated structures to function as 24-hour respite sites. Until they are ready, 200 temporary beds will be set up at Exhibition Place. The first of the three new structures is scheduled to open in the parking lot of Lamport Stadium on Dec. 15. The other two, at 701 Fleet St. and 351 Lakeshore Blvd. E., are to be ready by Jan. 31. Consultations have begun with communities around the sites, as local opposition is a potential hurdle, along with zoning and infrastructure concerns. To address issues raised in the ombudsman’s report – including information hotlines that told callers respite cen-
tres were full when they were not, and staff at one shelter having only a single cellphone, which had been stolen – the city has also overhauled some of its processes. A duty officer position will be implemented to oversee the system and work with shelter intake staff.
Extra people have been added to the central intake team, and it has updated technology in a new call centre on Church Street. “It was very clear that, through a mandate change a number of years ago … the amount of work that was coming into the [call] centre was double what was happening for the available staff,” Paul Raftis of the city’s shelter support and housing division said on Friday. This is the fifth year in a row that the city has added spaces for the homeless, he noted. By the end of the year, the city aims to have 102 new beds in the permanent shelter system. Toronto currently has 63 shelters of all kinds, plus programs to house refugees temporarily, totalling about 7,000 beds. The three new shelters will add 145 respite beds to the city’s current capacity of 455. Cathy Crowe, a veteran street nurse and advocate for Toronto’s homeless, called the total of 11 respite sites that will be operating this winter a positive response – but suspects they still will not be enough. Last winter was “catastrophic,” she said, chiding city coun-
cil and Mayor John Tory for hesitating to open city armouries as emergency shelters. “It was a fight to get the one armoury open [in Moss Park], and the mayor’s office in particular was in complete denial or obstructive around that whole process,” Ms. Crowe said. Mr. Tory repeatedly said last winter that the armouries were not ideal shelters. The Moss Park site did eventually open to the homeless in January. Ms. Crowe is pleased about the prefabricated structures, which can be assembled, taken apart and moved, saying she and her colleagues called for that about 20 years ago, she said. “I’m disappointed that only one will be up in December,” she added. City spokesperson Greg Seraganian said $3-million has been budgeted for food, security, operating costs and enhancements to staffing. On top of that, the three new respite sites will cost about $2.5-million each to buy and install. Mr. Raftis cautioned that demand is difficult to predict. Last winter’s peak was more than 500 users. “It is possible that we receive many more people in the city who are looking for shelter services,” he said. low-income workers in exchange for scrapping a minimum wage hike planned by the previous Liberal government that was set to take effect next year. His proposal was criticized by opposition parties, and an independent economic analysis conducted at the time showed low-income workers would benefit more from a higher minimum wage than lower taxes, because the wage hike would bring more money than a tax cut would save them. Ontario’s minimum wage rose from $11.60 to $14 an hour on Jan. 1 and was scheduled to increase to $15 next year, but the Progressive Conservative government has since introduced legislation that would cap the minimum wage at $14 until October 2020. Any future increases would be linked to the rate of inflation.

Ethiopia appoints Africa's only female president, Sahle-Work Zewde

Ethiopia on Thursday appointed a woman to the largely ceremonial position of president for the first time, further increasing female representation in the government of Africa's second most populous nation. "She brings a track record of competence and relevant experience to the role," Abiy's top aide, Fitsum Arega, said on Twitter, adding that her position signaled the country's move toward "gender parity" in key leadership positions. Meaza’s appointment comes a week after Ethiopia elected Sahle-Work Zewde as its first woman President, a move lauded as setting new standards for female leadership in the African nation. Women make up half of the country’s ministerial positions following a Cabinet reshuffle by Abiy, who leads Ethiopia’s government and policy. Abiy, Africa’s youngest head of government at age 42, has embarked on liberal reforms since taking office in April. He honored an agreement that ended a 20-year border war with neighboring Eritrea and freed journalists, bloggers and political prisoners jailed by previous administrations.
Ethiopia's ruling Oromo bloc agrees 'deal' with opposition OLF
Megerssa is quoted as saying Ethiopians “should no longer bleed as they have bled to bring” the changes the country is witnessing today. He also made a call on the Qeerroo – a political youth group in the region – to listen to and work with elders.

Major parties in Ethiopia’s Oromia region have announced a move to better cooperate in the best interest of Oromos, the largest ethnic group in the country’s biggest regional state. The ruling Oromo Democratic Party, ODP, led by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed agreed in principle to work closely and solve differences with the erstwhile exile Oromo Liberation Front, OLF. At a meeting on Wednesday, the ODP represented by Oromia president Lemma Megerssa met with OLF chairman, Dawud Ibsa and officials on both sides.

The last that was heard of the two groups was weeks back when Megerssa charged at OLF leadership for failing to rein in their members over security crisis in the state. The exact nature of the collaboration is not well spelled out. OLF since their return to Ethiopia from exile in Eritrea have entered an agreement with another party, the Oromo Federalists Congress, OFC, to compete in elections slated for 2020. ODP formerly the Oromo Peoples Democratic Organization, OPDP, is part of a four member bloc forming the ruling Ethiopian Peoples Democratic Front, EPRDF.

Edmonton man helps broker historic peace deal in Ethiopia
'I'm grateful that this peace deal took place but it's fragile,' Ahmed Abdulkadir says Wallis Snowdon - CBC News November 14, 2018
Edmonton's Ahmed Abdulkadir travelled to Ethiopia this summer to help a prominent rebel group broker a long-awaited peace deal with the government. (CBC) Imprisonment in an Ethiopian prison cell. to have died. That was the singular thought racing through Ahmed Abdulkadir's mind as he returned to his home country for the first time in more than 30 years. The Edmonton man feared he would be arrested the minute he stepped off the plane in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia’s capital. Instead, he helped broker a peace deal which marks the end of the oldest arms struggles in Ethiopia. Back at home, Abdulkadir remains humble about his role in the historic negotiations between the Ethiopian government and the Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF), a separatist rebel group. The two sides were locked in a violent conflict for decades until a peace agreement was reached last month. “It was combination of luck and time,” Abdulkadir said in an interview with CBC Radio. Abdulkadir’s family fled Ethiopia in 1991, when a conflict between the government and ONLF rebels erupted into renewed violence. Formed in 1984, ONLF had been fighting for more than three decades for the rights of ethnic Somalis living in eastern Ethiopia to have self-determination rights, including the option of secession. In 2007, Ethiopian forces launched a largescale offensive against the group after the rebels killed 74 people in an attack on a Chinese-run oil facility. The conflict made war part of his family’s life for generations, Abdulkadir said. Recent political changes, including the appointment of new prime minister Abiy Ahmed, suddenly made peace between the two groups a possibility. ‘Window of opportunity’ Ahmed, who took office in April, is presiding over a push to shake the Horn of Africa nation of 100 million people from decades of security-obsessed rule. Ethiopia government chooses new prime minister, hopes for period of stability He has acknowledged and condemned widespread abuses by the security forces, likening the situation to state terrorism. He has also worked to forge peace with Eritrea. Addis Ababa has been locked in a military standoff with Eritrea since a 1998-2000 border war in which 80,000 people are thought
Ahmed has attempted to broker peace with ONLF, a group the government previously outlawed as a “terrorist group.” “He said they are not terrorists anymore,” Abdulkadir said of Ahmed. “He said he would treat everyone fairly and he wanted every Ethiopian to come back to the country. “That was the window of opportunity that we took on.” ‘A fragile peace’ It was during this shift in the political landscape that Abdulkadir — executive director of the Ogaden Somali Community of Alberta Residents and a longtime advocate for peace in Ethiopia — was called upon to help. At the invitation of ONLF members, Abdulkadir flew to Addis Ababa on Aug. 4. He spent months attending more than 100 meetings and acting as a middle man between the two sides. The trip marked the only time he had returned to his home country since 1991. Watching the conflict from afar in Edmonton, Abdulkadir said he’s had many sleepless, tearful nights over the years, feeling helpless and restless. When the call came, he was keen to help. It seemed the country’s best chance for peace in decades, Abdulkadir said. “That’s what made me made go back, expecting that I would be put in jail when I landed there,” he said. After months of tense negotiations, an agreement was finally signed on Oct. 21. It stipulates that both sides end hostilities and that the ONLF would “pursue its political obligations through peaceful means.” Abdulkadir’s optimism for his home country is restrained. “I’m pessimistically hopeful,” Abdulkadir said of the prospect of long term peace. “I’m grateful that this peace deal took place but it’s fragile. “It depends on how long this prime minister stays in power — which is sad — and how the international community enforces this peace.”

Ethiopia: Where are our better Angels?
Ato Tibebe Samuel Ferenji (USA)
By Tibebe Samuel Ferenji (USA) 11/09/2018
“We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory will swell when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature.” Abraham Lincoln This statement was made by the United States 16th President, Abraham Lincoln, in his first inaugural speech. Lincoln was concerned about the division and advocacy of Sothern States for secession from the US. He ascended to power as the tension between the North and the South reached its epic proportion. When Lincoln was elected as the President of the United States, seven southern states seceded from the United States and formed what is known as the Confederate States of America. Despite Lincoln’s effort to avoid war, America entered into its bloodiest civil war in 1861. Mindful of opposition to his presidency, Lincoln made a statement in his inaugural speech that declared “We are not enemies”. He also predicted that America would be saved by “the better angels of our nature”. There is a saying I grew up with “instead of learning from your ordeals, learn from the ordeals of
others who went through it”. Time and again, politicians, intellectuals, and pundits have clearly stated the advantage of unity over division. That does not seem to be clear to some of our politicians and activists in Ethiopia. Our country went through hell for years and unexpectedly took a turn for the better since April 2018. Despite positive changes, the last six months have been very challenging. The change that came through blood, sweat, and enormous pain brought a visionary leader who is trying hard to change our violent political culture. Despite his effort, kindness, and the vision he has for Ethiopia, his shortcomings are one factor that is contributing for the current chaos we are watching unfold. Obviously, the problem we have cannot be solved by only one man. Most of us are making matters worse and pointing fingers at others instead of helping him and his team to reform our political system. Sadly, some people are doing what they can, not only to undermine the reform process but also reverse the achievement gained so far and return the country to its worst period of our times. As Donald Trump attempted to remind us, Lincoln was a Republican. Although President Lincoln had the support of the majority in the Republican Party, there were radical members of his party, who supported his agenda
TZTA NOVEMBER 2018
but also wanted him to take harsh measures against the secessionists. Lincoln opposed these radicals as much as he opposed the Democrats most of whom despised him and wanted him to make a deal with the secessionists and end the war. It was a very difficult period in America and Lincoln had to carefully navigate between the Radical Republicans and the Democrats who were known then as “Copperheads”. Although the comparison may not be parallel to our current situation, we can learn from Lincoln’s political wisdom and his ability to craft a policy that ultimately reserved the unity of the United States of America. As it has been said so many times, Prime Minister Abiy and his team can’t solely transform our country into a democratic system of government. Responsible citizens, political activists, political organizations, and most of all our elders must play a critical and leading role to stabilize the nation and bring different factions together towards our common goals. To implement the reformist agenda that will put our country on a trajectory towards peace, stability, sustained economic development, continued political freedom and social change, we must all actively take part in our country’s affairs and contribute our fair share for better outcomes. If anything, the last seven
24
months have taught us, there are those who will do whatever is necessary to create chaos and ferment ethnic hatred among our people. They will continue to do what they want to do. The only way these individuals and groups can succeed if we let them. For now, they are using unemployed and desperate youngsters to promote and implement their ill-conceived agenda. We see anarchy in Harar, Wollega, Keffa, Gonder, Bahir Dar, Wollo, Tigray, Benishangule Gumuz, Somalia region, and other places. So far, the “anarchists” seem to have the upper hand and the government seem inept to take the necessary action to take control of the regions and protect the public. We are witnessing a fertile condition for the establishment of “organized crime” looming in our nation. On the other hand, the silent majority, who are victims of these hoodlums have continued to be silent and seem to wait for a miracle and some sort of action from the government. The government itself seem powerless and it’s attempting to balance between promoting a new “political culture” and resorting to force that the government thinks will undermine the reform agenda. In the meantime, the hope that we have witnessed in June 2018 is slowly fading away. The people are tired of hearing empty promises and looking for the government to protect them. The “trigger happy” military and police force that we have been accustomed to the last 27 years does not seem to exist. Our house of worships are not engaged to be a source of solutions; our elites are too busy blaming one another and pointing their fingers at what they believe is “a common enemy” and the government. Time and again, some of us have screamed from the top of our lungs clearly stating that the only way we can bring peace and stability to our nation is through “National Reconciliation”. No one seems to listen. A few months ago, I suggested that the opposition should use the 1993 Peace and Reconciliation Model and take the initiative for Peace and Reconciliation Conference. So far, no one is taking any meaningful steps for some kind of “National Reconciliation” to take place. We all are busy preaching to our choir and demonizing one another. It has been said that the Chinese have asked if the Ethiopians have another country; such a question is raised because we

Toronto's 89th murder victim was part of 'Neptune 4' unlawful arrest case, sources say Yohannes Brhanu, 22, was among 4 black teens in violent confrontation with officers in 2011 Amara McLaughlin · CBC News · Posted: Nov 15, 2018 6:25 PM ET | Last Updated: November 15 vestigators said. He was rushed to a trauma centre where he later died.
“Normally we wouldn’t talk about the victim being armed, but in this case we both feel it’s extremely relevant to disclose the amount of firepower there was on a quiet residential street. It’s alarming to us,” Acting Insp. Hank Idsinga told reporters, noting at least four firearms — most likely handguns — were used in the fatal attack. “We’re getting a lot more guns off the street than we ever have and yet the shootings keep on happening.”

The city's latest murder victim, Yohannes Brhanu, was at the centre of a high-profile case against Toronto Police Service for the unlawful arrest of a group of black teenagers in 2011, CBC News has learned. Brhanu, 22, who was shot in the early morning hours Wednesday in Toronto's north end, was the city's 89th homicide victim this year — tying a grim record set in 1991. He was also one of four young men arrested in the so-called "Neptune Four" incident on Nov. 21, 2011 involving two Toronto police officers who have been accused of misconduct. The officers, Const. Adam Lourenco and Const. Sharnal Pais, approached the group of black teens in an unmarked police van in the city’s north end. They were walking outside a Lawrence Heights public housing complex on Neptune Drive, located in the area of Highway 401 and Allen Road, where they lived. They asked for identification — a controversial practice known as carding — and testified during a police disciplinary hearing that they believed the teens matched the description of robbery suspects.
The youths, aged 15 and 16, were headed to a neighbourhood mentorship program offered by Pathways to Education when they were stopped. One of the boys asked if they were under arrest and when told no, tried to leave. Less than two minutes later, a Toronto
Community Housing security video showed one of the officers punch the youth in the stomach and head until he fell. The teen’s twin brother and two friends then got involved. The altercation ended with one constable drawing his firearm and arresting the group at gunpoint. The criminal charges against the four teens were later dropped after the surveillance video surfaced. Seven years later, the case is still being heard by the Toronto Police Service Tribunal. Both officers are charged with unlawful or unnecessary exercise of authority under the Police Services Act, and Lourenco is facing an additional two counts of discreditable conduct. They are from the now-disbanded Toronto Anti-Violence Intervention Strategy (TAVIS) unit and have both pleaded not guilty. The teens have also filed a civil lawsuit against the officers, each seeking $100,000 in damages. Brhanu was the intended target, detective says Brhanu was shot to death in a car that was parked on Ann Arbour Road in the area of Albion and Weston roads. Evidence suggests he was the intended target, homicide Det.-Sgt. Mike Carbone said during a Wednesday news conference. Brhanu was found without vital signs inside the vehicle, sitting beside a loaded gun that was never fired, in-

Brhanu was in the driver’s seat with another person as a passenger when a vehicle, “that appears to have some association with the deceased,” approached from the opposite direction and stopped, Carbone said. Then,
a third unknown vehicle drove up and parked beside the driver’s side of Brhanu’s car. Its occupants fired multiple shots at him. Meanwhile, occupants in the second vehicle exchanged fire in what Carbone characterized as a “gun battle” that forced the third vehicle to flee. He estimated between 10 to 20 bullets were fired. One person was arrested in the case, but was later released without charges, Carbone said, adding at this point in the investigation there’s no information to suggest any violent retaliation will follow this shooting. Police haven’t released information about possible suspects or a description of the vehicle that fled.

don’t seem to care to take part in seeking a solution to our multi-facet problems. We are not engaged in the political process as much as we need and we want someone else to come up with solutions. It is clear that some of our political leaders and activists have a second home and second country; but, our people in general, have only one country. It is up to us to decide to live together as brothers or perish as fools as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. has said. Often, the Social Media in our community is dominated by hatemongering Demagogues who use their time and resources preaching hate and encouraging unlawful violent actions against ethnic groups who don’t “look like them”. Our journalists are too busy taking a side and demonizing the “group” that they don’t like instead of engaging in objective and unbiased reporting, seeking solutions from our political leaders, and making them accountable when they failed to take appropriate actions. The problem we are facing is growing and it is not going to go away by itself. That seems to be the government’s approach instead of putting a plan to end the disorderly conduct we are witnessing in various parts of our country. The anarchy that we witnessed in the Somalia region has spread to Oromia, Amhara, Tigray, Benishangule, Southern regions and so on. It seems the demand and the “stronghold” of
25
criminal elements in the country is growing. The people of Harrar are denied drinking water because some hoodlums demanded a payment to restore drinking water to the region. These hoodlums are holding the people of Harrar hostage while the Oromia Regional government, the Harrarie, Regional government, and the Federal government are doing nothing. These three governments could not even get the elders together and give them the necessary tools that could empower them to bring the much-needed solutions to the region. I know, the TPLF/EPRDF sow ethnic division the last 27 years and it is difficult to get rid of such hateful propaganda within a few months. This to be the conventional thinking. I get it. However, we can’t always make excuses and blame the TPLF/EPRDF forever. These ethnic hatreds grew because there are people who accepted it. How do we reach these people and deprogram their thinking? Better yet, what are we doing to reverse the TPLF/EPRDF agenda that has been detrimental to our people? My problem is not what happened in the last 27 years; my problem is, no one seems to be doing anything to reverse what took place the last 27 years and curb the new challenges we are facing today. Our political leaders don’t seem to realize we are in crisis and people are losing hope. I don’t

see the urgency in the government to respond to the growing lawlessness and threats in the country. We are still entertaining “gusts” and holding unnecessary political meetings. Political organizations don’t seem to communicate with their supporters and members to have some sort of control in the crisis that their own supporters initiated. We blame the youth when we are not providing them any leadership towards a better future. To say “only the children of poor Ethiopians are dying while others are inflaming conflicts” may gain some sympathy, but it is not a sound policy and not enough to deal with the problem we have. Do something about it to prevent their death instead of talking about it. America’s bloodiest civil war did not happen overnight. It took roots in 1820 when Congress legislated the Mississippi Compromise. The war itself took place under President Lincoln watch in April 1861. Several events took place for 40 years that led to the 1861 war. President Lincoln did everything possible in his power to prevent the civil war to no avail. In the end, it took a civil war to unite the United States of America. Do we have to go to another civil war to learn secession is not the solution for our problems? There are those who claim to represent particular people and advocate certain ethnic groups to secede from Ethiopia. These groups who are promoting identity politics never cared about anyone but themselves. They want to establish a region where they can be “kings” for their lifetime. This is what we witnessed in Eritrea. If we examine all the so-called “liberation movement leaders” in various parts of Africa, many of these leaders failed to hand power to the people and continue to rule until they die or replaced by force by another dictator. Although there were secession talks in the United State since the 1830s, the election of Abraham Lincoln as the president of the United States expedited the seven Southern States decision to secede from the United States. In his first inaugural speech, Lincoln appealed to the states that seceded. At the end of his speech, he asked his nation "Shall it be peace or the sword? Lincoln tried to avoid the civil war, but he strongly believed that it was his duty to preserve a united country. Unfortunately, the first shot was fired by the Confederate army that forced Lincoln’s hand into the war. The choice for us is the same: Shall it be peace or the sword? The choice is ours. We have serious problems that requires immediate attention and for “cool heads” to come together and find attainable solutions. We don’t need politicians. Journalists, activists, and pseudo-intellectuals
who are engaged in demonizing the group that they oppose. This will not bring a solution but ferment more conflict. What we need is “our better angels” who can provide leadership to our youth; our better angels who can organize religious leaders and elders to bring conflicting parties to the table so we can find a middle ground that unites us and compromise on things that we don’t agree with; we need our better Angels who can make us understand that every problem we have cannot be solved overnight; we need our better Angels to be our mediators; we need our better angels who can help us build bridges not walls; most of all we need the better angels of our nature to hold us together, make us care about one another, remind us that we all are here temporarily and we need to leave a better Ethiopia for the next generation, and remind us all we have is one country and it would be better for all of us to find a way to live together as brothers and sisters instead of killing each other as enemies. We should learn from America’s civil war; the war was between brothers. We are not strangers for “a war of brothers”. We have been fighting amongst us for years. The recent Ethio-Eritrean war is a great example. Literally, brothers fought against brothers. Twenty years later, after the death of more than one hundred thousand people, and enormous economic damages, our “leaders” are telling us that they could have solved the issue, which sent youngsters to this unnecessary war, without even one shot. Regret after 20 years did not bring back the lives lost. Have we learned anything yet? What seems to be a mountain of problems today might end up being nothing after a year; hence, we need to be patient. We can’t address all our problems at the same time. Some problems take time to address. That is the reason we need to search for the Angele of our nature and gate active to solve the crisis that is debilitating our nation. We need to find our better Angels nature to go forward to establish a system of government that will allow all of us to peacefully coexist. At least, we should do our part by not following demagogues who are encouraging us to take part in violence, by not sharing “fake news” that tends to spread hate, by denouncing hate speech and ethnicbased violence, by demanding that the government do its job to protect the public without being partial. Let us all find our better Angels who could calm the violent storm approaching our nation, let us all be responsible for our action in moving forward. Let us respect and love one another regardless of our ethnicity and the region where we came from. After all, we all are God’s Children.
