Supplements That Lower Estrogen and Boost Testosterone

Research shows that when there is a high level of aromatase enzyme activity in men, estrogen levels will almost always rise. You see, the aromatase enzyme is responsible for converting testosterone into estrogen. And in turn, the estrogen lowers the levels of testosterone. Read more: testosterone boosters work It's a continuous cycle which eventually results in men who have feminine physiques, water retention, increased emotionality, as well as prostate issues and hot flashes. Though the key to lowering estrogen levels lies in getting lean, avoid synthetic chemicals which contain it and eating real foods, there are 5 supplements that have been scientifically proven to work as aromatase inhibitors or regulators. Let's discuss each.

1. Zinc When it comes to the list of the most important macronutrients, there are no so vital as zinc. In fact, it's actually considered to be essential to our survival. Not only does it have the ability to regulate enzymes, but it also ensures that our immune system is functioning properly. But as equally as important, zinc is great for regulating the activity of the aromatase enzyme. It also lowers your SHGB levels, increases the production of the thyroid hormone and DHT levels. If you want to ensure that you get the proper amount of zinc you could eat more meat or 1530 mg of a zinc supplement. However, you can benefit the most by taking advantage of both options.

2. Boron Unlike zinc, boron is not considered to be necessary to our survival. However, that does not mean that it doesn't offer significant benefits. In fact, studies show that after a week of taking 10mg of boron, men can experience a noticeable increase in their free testosterone levels, a decrease in their estrogen levels, a rise in DHT, and a drop in their inflammation biomarkers. And in another study, men consumed only 6mg of boron for 2 months and they experienced an increase in testosterone by as much as 29% as well as an increased absorption of vitamin D.

3. Grapeseed Extract Grapeseed extract is known for its ability to improve circulation. However, what you may not know about grapeseed extract is that it can also inhibit aromatase enzyme activity and ultimately decrease estrogen levels. It doesn't just regulate its activity, it actually deactivates it by blocking estrogen biosynthesis. Researchers discovered this valuable information when searching for breast cancer treatments and cures. Unfortunately, they also found that grapeseed extract has a low bioavailability which means you need to consume a significant dosage--i.e. 2000mg per day. This equates to 5 high potency grapeseed extract supplement pills or a gallon of grape juice each day. It's most effective when taken in a fasted state.

4. Resveratrol Do you know why red wine is so healthy? It's because it contains red grapes, a fruit which is loaded with resveratrol. Not only does is this a healthy antioxidant, but resveratrol is also another element that has the ability to increase testosterone and decrease estrogen. However, just as in the case of grapeseed, resveratrol has low bioavailability so it's not effective when taken orally. A great option would be to take it in powder form--specifically, a pure powder called VESIsorb. It can absorb at 100x the average rate.

5. Tongkat Ali Tongkat Alit is a Malaysian testosterone booster. It has the ability to suppress the stress hormone cortisol. However, it is most known for three key benefits: testicular enzyme stimulation, SHGB suppression, and the aromatase enzyme inhibition.

Though scientists have only been able to inhibit the aromatase enzyme in one rodent, the results are definitely worth noting. It was able to block the estrogen with the strength of Tamoxifen. Tamoxifen is a powerful prescription aromatase enzyme inhibitor. I've had experience with several brands of Tongkat Ali, but only one seems to have noticeable affects--Sumatra Pasak Bumi. This is a 1:200 water extract and was more brittle and darker than other brands that I have tried in the past.

Conclusion Anyone who has ever struggled with high levels of estrogen can understand how challenging this problem can be. In fact, the feminizing effects are emasculating. Fortunately, there are viable testosterone boosters available. And many of them lie within supplements. You should also consider making changes in your daily life such as losing weight, making healthy food choices, and getting rid of synthetic xenoestrogens.
