CITY SWAN

Alfred Priess | Architectural lighting columns

The future of architectural lighting columns is here

Give city space a design lift with architectural street lighting

CitySwan has been designed and developed by MAA Bjarne Schläger of BS light+architecture (left) and MAA Morten Weeke Borup of GHB Landskabsarkitekter A/S (right). Together, they have a wealth of experience in the planning and design of architectonic and functional lighting of urban environments, and have been responsible for projects in numerous Danish towns and cities, including Copenhagen, Odense, Kalundborg, Slagelse and Birkerød. “As the name suggests, CitySwan was inspired by the animal kingdom. The swan’s elegant and aesthetic form and movement was the inspiration behind the idea that street lighting can also be simple, timeless and, not least, functional”, explains architect Bjarne Schläger. “The design is clearly based on functionality. The organic form of CitySwan also contrasts with the straight lines and sharp angles of a building. The idea that column and luminaire must function as a single entity is clearly communicated in the visual expression of the CitySwan series.”
