Are You Using Your Gifts or Are You Sitting on the Sideline Being Idled?
There is a lot of work to be done not only within the I Am A Ruby Family, but within our communities too. God has told us to get up and just do it, but many of our alumni are sitting on the sideline and being idled. In the Holy Bible it stated, “For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies” (2 Thessalonians 3:11 KJV). If God has called you, anointed you, equipped you and then appointed you, why are you being idle and a busybody in the world? Do you not know that lives depend on your obedience to God and doing what he commanded you to do? How would you feel if you never met Jesus when you were sinning and went to hell for eternality? How would you feel if Jesus stated, in the Holy Bible: Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. (Saint Matthew 7:21-23 KJV). I know that God does not want any of his chosen people to go to hell, because they were lazy and idle instead of doing what God called them to do. God is challenging every alumnus who is idle to get back in the Army of God. God loves you and he wants all of us to walk in our prophetic and apostolic flow. God looks forward to promoting you once you get back in his Army. If you want your blessings and promotions, go on and take your rightful place in God’s Army again. Gustav Reyes, owner of Chicago-based Simply Wood Rings, is an artist who found a way to turn his passion into a successful business. He started selling his handcrafted wooden wedding rings through his website in 2005, and has processed payments with PayPal from the beginning. While his business grew steadily over the years, his sales began to drop in 2014. To secure funding to update his website, he turned to PayPal Working Capital, knowing from past experience how hard it is to get a loan. “PayPal knew I generated the revenue and our business was viable. Traditional banks just didn’t see that,” he said, according to PayPal’s website. Not to mention the paperwork for applying for a loan is daunting. PayPal CEO Dan Schulman recently announced that PayPal Working Capital has provided more than $1 billion in funding in the U.S., UK, and Australia to help more than 60,000 small business owners like Gustav grow their businesses and realize their dreams. ”Since late 2013 we’ve been providing access to working capital to small businesses through PayPal Working Capital. PayPal is now lending $100 million per month to businesses.” PayPal loans have proven to be beneficial to small business owners who have had trouble being approved for loans by traditional commercial banks. Because the program uses a company’s total sales and history using PayPal’s payment system, there is no credit check or extensive documentation required. According Schulman, “daily issuance now exceeds $3 million; we’ve more than tripled the pace from a year ago. More than 60,000 unique merchants have used this program to date – an increase of 150% year over year.”

When PayPal Working Capital customers were asked to rate how likely they would be to recommend the PPWC program to others (on a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the highest), between 85-90% responded with a 9 or 10. Financing continues to be a stumbling block for entrepreneurs, particularly African American owned businesses, with uncertain income and nonexistent or blemished credit. However, increasingly, alternative sources of startup financing and working capital like PayPal Working Capital’s loan program are out there for business owners in need of investing in inventory, facilities, and staff to establish a solid market presence and generate a profitable revenue stream. There have been many bold predictions for 2015 and beyond including mobile payments tripling in size, and the fact that payments are about to change how we do everything, reports PayPal. The digital payment service recently announced PayPal Credit Installments and Business Consulting Services. The credit installments are a great way for businesses to offer financial flexibility to their customers and increase their average order value, notes Steve Allocca, PayPal’s vice president and general manager, Global Credit. PayPal also announced consulting services that help expand product or international expansion. The company’s global reach into 203 markets allows PayPal to collaborate with merchants and industry partners to create better and secure experiences for people online, in-store and on mobile devices.

For the first time, retailers can customize PayPal Credit to offer a monthly payment option and decide on the number of months and interest rate that works best for their customers. Allowing customers to divide their larger purchases into substantially equal monthly payments, gives them more control and helps them to better manage their budget.

29-Year-Old Wife, and Mother Went From Living on Welfare to Starting a Business That Earned Nearly $1 Million in Its First Year • •

In 2012, Kimra Luna was broke. She and her husband, Seth, and their two young sons were living in California with her in-laws, struggling to make ends meet in a rocky economy. “For four years, we had no steady jobs at all,” now 29-year-old Luna tells Business Insider. “We did have a little money we had saved, but we blew through it really quick, then lived on whatever welfare could provide us. It covered a few bills and food, so we didn’t have anything extra at all. No extra clothes or shoes, nothing.” Then, Seth found work in as a Fedex driver in North Dakota, and moved states away. He was making enough to pay the family’s bills, and half a year later, he relocated to Virginia and Luna joined him, now living paycheck to paycheck. “Six months on, I was getting a little bored being a stay-at-home-mom, especially since I had no friends or family in the neighborhood,” she writes on her website. She and Seth decided to use their tax refund to buy a computer, and she started a blog and took a job in network marketing, selling organic skincare products and supplements. She became a popular figure on Pinterest, getting over 80,000 repins of some of her images. At the same time, she started reading about women entrepreneurs and learning what it would take to start her own business.

One of those things was money, and that was still tight. She opened a credit card with a $5,000 limit and the agreement that this money was her only available operating capital. “I used that money for the site, Facebook ads, tools, and online courses I needed,” Luna remembers. In the spring of 2014, she launched KimraLuna.com. In her year of studying online businesses, she had learned so much that she figured she might as well share. She did it through webinars, to which she drove traffic through Facebook ads. “Most of my webinars, I have nothing to even sell on them,” she tells Farnoosh Torabi on the podcast So Money. “The only thing I sold was, ‘Hey, if you like this content, join my Facebook group.'” The Freedom Hackers Facebook group, which has nearly 14,000 members. That Facebook group is the Freedom Hackers Mastermind group, a supportive space for entrepreneurs which currently has nearly 14,000 members. Her first product was a course called “Crushing It On Facebook,” which led to inquiries about private consulting and coaching. She started selling 12 weeks of oneon-one coaching for $2,000, and in her first six weeks, she made $10,000.

Her husband quit his job to help her maintain and grow the business as its CFO, and in its first full year, the company made over $950,000 in revenue. Most of that, Luna says, is profit, since her web-based business has a low overhead. • Luna’s primary income source is her “Be True, Brand You” program, a 12-week online marketing program she offers once a year that costs $2,000 (the price will likely increase the next time it’s offered) and has had about 500 students so far. She also makes money through promoting affiliate partners on her website and through selling a few webinars for $40. In September, she will launch another program to teach people to create and launch webinars. “Basically I focus on one thing, one program,” she says. “That’s why it’s worked for me.” • She estimates she spends about 25 to 30 hours a week working on the business, mostly supporting her paid customers and the members of her Freedom Hackers group. As for the money, Luna explains that most of it is currently in the bank. “My husband and I are educating ourselves on investing,” she says. “We want to be invested in stocks and other startups, and a lot of that money will go to starting another business for me. I have several future businesses I’m going to be growing.”
Luna, who recently gave birth to her third son, advises would-be entrepreneurs to “figure out what they’re really passionate about and who they truly want to serve,” she says. “It won’t work out unless they’re obsessed with serving those particular people—it has to be so deep, the desire so strong to help this particular type of people.” She says her own people are online entrepreneurs who are ready to take action. “People who are sick of their jobs and not having results and not knowing how to execute,” she explains. “They’re done listening to people that tell them the what and not the how. I’m the person who tells them how to do things.” 16

Mountains and Valleys Experiences By Apostle Trina Davis •

The Lord is always calling us to a higher place in himself, Draw nigh to God and he will draw nigh to you." If you are satisfied with where you are, you will never hear the call, "come up higher." We have to leave the crowd. Notice in Mt. 17:1, Jesus took them "up into a high mountain apart." "Apart" means "Private," "Separate." Some people will never have a mountain top experience with God because they are unwilling to separate from those that keep them involved in sin and rebellion. Please read 2 Cor. 6:14-18. We have to leave the cares that consume us behind. In verse 4, Peter said "it is good for us to be here." Having a mountain top experience with God will require us to leave our cares behind. The things that consume our time and thoughts and take us from a deep, personal, peaceful and joyful Christian life will have to be cast upon the Lord. Please see Ps. 55:22, "Cast thy burden upon the LORD and he shall sustain thee." It is impossible to have a mountain top experience when your life is filled with cares of all sorts. Give them to God! We have to lighten our collection of things. Mountain climbing requires we carry only the bare essentials. See Heb. 12:1-2 where we are to "lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us." There are some things in life that will keep a true believer from a mountain top experience. We cannot go up to higher ground with God with things like drugs, alcohol, immorality, tobacco products, ungodly music, ungodly dress styles and any other thing that offends the holiness of God. We have to give God complete control of our lives

There are some conditions for having a mountain top experience with God: You must be saved; you must be cleansed from sin; you must yearn for fellowship with God and you must learn in order to be a servant of God. There are some things that will keep us off the mountain with God: Unconverted; unconfessed sin; uncaring attitude, and an unconcern for the will of God. We cannot get closer to God on our terms. IF YOU ARE READY, HE IS READY! Mountain-top experiences Mountains often had a significant role in God’s dealings with His people. In the English language we have the expression “mountaintop experience”. This expression has originated from the Bible because of the dealings God had with His people on various “mountain-tops”. So the phrase has come to mean a moment of transcendence – or epiphany; and in particular an experience of significant revelation given by God. It was on the Mountains of Ararat that Noah’s ark came to rest after the Flood (see Genesis 8:4). God made a covenant with Noah there. On one of the mountains in the region of Moriah God asked Abraham to make a sacrifice of his only son Isaac and God provided the Ram as a substitute (see Genesis 22:2). Later Solomon would build the temple on Mount Moriah – the place where substitutionary sacrifices would be offered until Jesus came. See 2 Chronicles 3:1. On Mount Sinai (also known as Mt. Horeb) God revealed His character to Moses and gave him the Ten Commandments (see Exodus 19:1620:12).

On Mt. Carmel Elijah challenged the false prophets of Baal to a contest to see which God would answer by fire. Of course it was the Lord who demonstrated His power that day (see 1 Kings 18). And after the great contest when Elijah ran for his life he travelled to Mt. Horeb and God met with him there in the “still small voice” (KJV) or “gentle whisper” (NIV) see 1 Kings 19. Jesus taught His disciples on the Mount of Olives (see Matthew 24:3) and He was transfigured on a mountain (see Mark 9:2). It shouldn't surprise us that Moses and Elijah (who both had their own mountain-top experiences) were seen talking with Jesus on that mountain. • And we must not forget Mount Zion – the place where King David built his city (later called Jerusalem). Where God is said to dwell (Isaiah 8:18). Mt Zion figuratively points forward to the new heaven and new earth where all true believers will one day be welcomed into God’s dwelling place forever. See Hebrews 12:22 and Revelation 14:1. So Mountains are symbolic of God's revelation to man. God gives the “mountain-top experience” in order to sustain His people as they go down into the valley! His revelation is always intended to help us journey with Him more closely on the road ahead. For Moses that journey was to lead God's people to the Promised Land. For Elijah it was to confront wickedness in the land and appoint the next prophet. For Jesus it was the journey to the cross and for us it is a journey from the cross to the New Jerusalem

All yokes, oxen, shackle, cord, habits, addiction, chains, and cycles are destroyed now in the name of Jesus. I cast imprisionment, suicide, murder, depression, fighting, gossip, anger, rejection, abandonment, disappointments, neglect, fatherless, motherless, hurt, pain, abuse of all kinds and format, rage, wrath, tyranny, lusts of the mind, and flesh in the name of Jesus. I send it all to the dry places in the name of Jesus. No weapon form against our children shall prosper in the name of Jesus.
The Lord alone is our children refuge, and place of safety in him we trust in the name of Jesus. I plead the blood of Jesus over our children from the crown of their heads, to the soul of their feet. Arise up leaders just like you did with King Josiah. Allow them to be warriors and conquerors in the spirit just like King David. Allow them to worship you in spirit and truth. Lisa Bradley: North Carolina Entrepreneur Turns Her Experience on The Oprah Winfrey Show into a Mission to Help Others •

In 2006 on the brink of divorce and close to losing everything, Lisa Bradley and her husband Steven appeared as guests on The Oprah Winfrey Show. They were featured as participants of “America’s Debt Diet,” as part of Oprah’s challenge to America to encourage people to get out of debt. According to Lisa, the challenge taught them how to “own their finances.” The program was a success; Lisa and Steven were able to become debt free. The experience left Lisa with a yearning for more. She was now in a position where she could start a business venture. But she wanted to create something in which she could be of service. She wanted to take the experience and the knowledge that she gained and pay it forward. She learned through her experience with the “America’s Debt Diet” that there is a mental mindset behind financial struggles. Unfortunately, this often causes stress, anxiety, and depression for individuals and families who do not understand the tools they need to gain their financial freedom. Armed with her knowledge and tenacity, Lisa decided to create A United Community a North Carolina based substance abuse and mental health clinic. We talked to Lisa about A United Community and her desire to empower others towards financial freedom. Here’s what she had to say: Talk to us about your journey to entrepreneurship. I started the company shortly after we appeared on Oprah’s “Americas Debt Diet.” The experience changed me in so many ways. It allowed me to understand debt and the mindset and habits that cause you to go into debt. When we came out of it we were in a position financially where we could start a venture. But I wanted it to be something that was service-oriented in which I could share with others what I learned. At the time, I was teaching and working as a counselor part-time. I felt that it was something that I could do on my own if not better.

A United Community is a substance abuse and mental health counseling agency for individuals who either lack or have limited health insurance that may not cover substance abuse or mental health. I wanted to make a difference in the lives of other people. Although we were coming out of debt on the other side, during the process we were vulnerable and raw. When we put our story out there we thought that people would automatically be supportive, but that wasn’t necessarily the case. So that gave me a bigger desire to want to help people. I wanted to create a safe haven. How are money, truth, and A United Community related? I talk about the mindset behind money. 90 percent of the families that we work with have financial issues that have created a double layer of problems because the issues were not dealt with. I take them back to a place and get them through it. We work backwards from crisis to recovery to solutions. What are some of the financial health strategies that you employ? First people have to get real; I call this living in your money truth. I see other people not wanting to face their money truth and not owning their finances. The experience that I went through is what I see others experiencing, such as not wanting to open their bills. It’s like, if I don’t know I won’t owe it. I also find that people are afraid to speak to their family members about finances, whether it is their spouse, their children, or other family members. There is a cycle that has existed in families and what happens is there is no anchor to connect to in order to get to financial stability. A big part of that is understanding your finances including what you can afford, such as extra expenses and luxury cars. So my strategy is that I get them to see all of that and come up with a plan whether short or long-term. This all includes understanding interest rates, late payments, and in some cases taking care of additional family members that you can’t afford to help such as the 25 year old failure to launch kid.

After they get a grasp and have a keen understanding, then a specific plan has to be implemented. Once that is done then they can move away from the burden and the shame of being in debt. The plan sometimes is the hardest part because it may mean that they have to take extreme measures. For example, when we were going through it and we thought if we turned the cable off it was the end of the world. But what we learned is although it was a struggle it caused us to be greater communicators and it did not break us. So I think I am able to help because I can see it from both sides. I am able to help with short-term and long-term planning. Depending on someone’s situation it may mean a shortterm plan, while in other cases it may mean bankruptcy. I help them understand their rights, which includes understanding that your credit score is only calculated from the last 24 months. So it may mean they need to take a year and rebuild their credit history. It’s amazing how they feel once the stress is lifted. Don’t be afraid of tomorrow; you can get back the life that you want. How have you been able to grow your business? Unfortunately mental health grows itself. But I have been able to grow by thinking outside of the box. By telling my story, which includes mental health issues within my family, I have been able to personalize my services. I am able to do this by going into homes and working in the community. I decided early on that I wanted to remove the barriers about mental health services, especially in the minority community. So part of our branding is that we discuss the myths. Tell us about your experience being a woman entrepreneur. It has been a challenge. As a woman I had to recognize that I had to empower myself. I had to become comfortable with myself while setting unconditional goals. I had to recognize that people had to align with my business mission and vision. Once I started doing that, then people started looking at me as a businessperson and gave me the respect I deserved.

What is your marketing strategy? I took a look around me in the community and I studied the competition to see what they were doing and what I was missing. I used Survey Monkey to ask people their opinions. I was able to obtain great feedback from people using Social Media. I also asked the school districts how I could help to raise the education bar and offer my services. I put my brand in a position where we could fill the gaps with services, products, and informational seminars. I continually ask myself who else can benefit. This has allowed me to also offer my services to corporations by providing corporate trainings to help their employees. So in the end, educating everyone about mental health and keeping that conversation top of mind has helped me grow my business by being a mental health educator, mental health trainer, and a mental health service provider. What have been some of your biggest successes? By being an entrepreneur I have been able to teach my children what it means to be of service to others. I think also being able to hire people and then help them cultivate their skills so that they can help others as well. In the end it’s a win-win for everyone. What advice would you like to share? You could love what you do, but that doesn’t always transition into a business. I struggled in the beginning with all of the business related tasks, such as accounting, payroll, and taxes. But I had to learn that these were all things that came along with being a business owner. So I tell people that they need to understand what it takes to run a business. Combine that knowledge with what you love to do and your business will grow.

Blessings Everyone the Holidays is almost here, and there are many families who need our assistance. Help us as we raise money for I Am A Ruby Ministries, a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization, with our holiday fund. As we help assist many families all over the world.
