omorrow is it. We say good bye to Tenten and Serena, the handsome couple that captivated our hearts at first glance. We followed them night after night, as they journeyed together from the picturesque Italy down to the provinces and the unruly city of Manila. One moment it was all fun and full of laughter, the next moment it was tragic and life-changing. But one thing remains: theirs is a story shared with us, through “I Do’s” and heartbreaks, supportive and kontrabida parents, brotherhood and third wheels, and the happy ending we’re all waiting for. But more than what we saw on TV, on set was another story. Camaraderie among the cast and crew, new friendships formed, crazy antics and mga kalokohan, and definitely, hard work that made each and every one better in his craft. From the daily grind behind-the-scenes to tomorrow’s epic finale episode you shouldn’t miss, it’s a pleasure to be part of their story. Grazie, Amores! Don’t miss the final episodes of the country’s number one kilig series, “Dolce Amore” weeknights on ABS-CBN or ABS-CBN HD (SkyCable ch 167). THE CRAWL AND ALL Going Japanese! BY LALA VENTURA, CHANNEL MANAGER FOR LIFESTYLE

I

have never been to Japan but have always heard so many good things about it – the culture, the people, the fashion, the shopping but most of all – the food! so it was definitely a case of hitting two birds with one stone when I had the opportunity to fly to Osaka to shoot the 2-part Special of THE CRAWL with no less than Piolo Pascual and his food crawl buddy, Lui Villaruz. Piolo was game for everything despite running a fever and being jetlagged from a very recent trip to the UK . He never complained about anything – not even the scorching heat as we hit the streets of Osaka. I would always hear him say “Life is short. Let’s do this!” His professionalism and dedication to his craft was quite admirable. He and Lui enjoyed trying out 4 different types of Okonomiyaki and Ramen. I was amazed by his appetite actually. This beautiful human being can eat! (and drink for that matter). Watching them devour the food presented on THE

10

CRAWL (and then some) was simply mouth-watering! And Lui was the perfect food crawl buddy, sharing his personal insights on Japanese cuisine and adding comedic flavor to the entire experience. After wrapping up, Piolo treated the whole team to a few drinks at Giraffe. We had a great time as we celebrated in anticipation of two wonderful episodes of THE CRAWL. I would have to say, it was a great experience traveling to Osaka and discovering its culture and cuisine with no less than one of the best actors in the Philippine entertainment industry. THE CRAWL with Piolo Part 2? Why not. ‘Life IS short. Let’s do this!’ (wink wink ;p)

TIMY Diaries: Shooting In Greece S’agapo (I love you), JaDine!

G

reece is the word. When we first heard about #TeamReal setting off for Greece, we frantically searched the hashtags to see what they’re up to. Aside from Athens, where else in Greece are they going? Who else are going with James and Nadine? What exactly will they be doing? And ultimately, what are James and Nadine doing there during breaks? Are they able to find couple time in the middle of taping? #concerned While we’re left with no choice but to ~patiently~ count down the days ‘til ‘Till I Met You, we can only hold on to these snippets of sneak peek videos, photos, and whatnot released all over the internet. Thank heavens Dreamscape has shared with us these BTS

photos for NoInk, and naturally, we’re inclined to make wild guesses as to how JaDine’s upcoming kiligserye will blow our minds and make our hearts flutter.

HEAR US, O GODS AND GODDESSES OF GREECE! What we know about Greece is that it’s a majestic place where the mountains and the beaches meet and together, are insanely breathtaking. Greece is picturesque and compelling that you’re left with no choice but to take in the scene right before your eyes and let the beautiful moments linger. And imagine what a view it’d be with James and Nadine in the foreground! And then there’s the happening nightlife in Athens. Since TIMY is based on weddings, will there be romantic wedding receptions held in the beautiful outdoors, where James and Nadine will just hold hands and dance, and forever look at each other, with sunset rays piercing through their smiles and laughter? * sigh * We hope so! And finally, the Greek food!!! (Souvlaki! Feta! The freshest seafood ever!) Will there be a feast? A happy scene where wedding guests are reaching across the table to sample every dish? Whatever it is, we know Greece will work its magic. Maybe James and Nadine are having a grand time there, knowing their fondness for food!

TRENDSPOTTING: GLADIATOR SANDALS How selfish of me to think only of Nadine looking really nice in her Greek-chic OOTDs, because James Reid is absolutely rocking those strappy sandals, too! More please!

EYE CANDY ALERT! Feast your eyes on ale-Alejandro, who is admittedly good-looking and blends well with the handsome Greek crowd, too. But while he is a cute and worthy ka-love triangle, we all know that JaDine is essentially #OTP. And with JC Santos’ commendable acting chops and unassuming demeanor, we’re definitely looking forward to the dynamics and how the story unfolds, since he is, as the TIMY trailer suggests, gay.

TIMY, A DRAMEDY? Also spotted on set are hubby and wifey Zoren Legaspi and Carmina Villaroel, together with Angel Aquino. Add to that Pokwang and Kim Molina who are also part of the mix, is it safe to assume that the kiligserye will be injected with good humor, too? The supporting bunch are an interesting mix, with artists whom we know are impressive in drama, but very benta in comedy, too! Will there be a love story subplot among the parentals?

A STEADY STREAM OF ROOFTOP VIEWS, SKYLINES, AND MORE It seems like there’s a lot of munimuni going on set. What’s on your mind, Basti? We can only think of two possibilities: how to confess to Iris that you want to be more than friends, or how to break it to Ali that you’re really just friends?

y a D d l r o W My #JaDine BY PATTI SUNIO

I

really had my Sunday reserved already. Thank God for a long weekend, my family was willing to spare me. Call time was early, because I had to pick up friends along the way, to experience for the first time, the magic of JaDine. ASAP was fast, too fast that remembering what happened is a blur. The audience reception to the two was expected and loud. Really loud. Everyone was excited to just see them and was swooning in their seats when 14

TFC ALL ACCESS V O L U M E

2

they sang their own version of Till I Met You for the first time. We were actually wishing they would do a lyrical dance just like when OTWOL was being promoted but I guess they didn’t have the time to rehearse anymore. The Power Duo that did it for them in the background sufficed, but no amount of acrobatic stunts could take our eyes away from the couple, who in turn couldn’t take their eyes away from each other. This is my third time to watch them live and each time they seem closer and more involved with

I S S U E

7

each other. “May sariling mundo.” That’s really the only way to put it, minsan nakakalimutan talaga nila na may ibang tao sa paligid nila. Nadine was breathtakingly beautiful in her off-white long dress and James, well, drop-dead gorgeous as always, and those with me who were seeing them for the first time were speechless with awe. Yup. That’s the effect alright. Then it was a rush to Trinoma. We decided to give the mall show a pass and eat a delayed lunch. I swear

makakalimutan mo ang gutom pag nakikita mo itong dalawa, tapos maalala mo na lang pag wala ka nang energy na kailangan mo na ulit kumain pag bumaba na ang adrenalin. At this point I’d really like to thank Ma’am Cory Vidanes for indulging my JaDine heart. Ma’am, you are never just what your awards say you are, your generosity of heart is what makes you a cut above the rest. And additional blessings came from a former student who also gave me extra and made more people happy on this special night. So here goes, the real reason you’re reading this, the TIMY review. Some say that we shouldn’t really compare TIMY to OTWOL. But really, how can you not? OTWOL set the bar really high, and we all are coming into this with high expectations. Blame the Jadaone-JaDine combination, but we were used to the best and expected no less. And guess what? They delivered. Boy, did they deliver. And you know my standards. Without spoiling anything, I was kinda iffy about the back stories from the trailer, but no worries there. No fantastic premises, just real world situations that accurately depict what happens in households everywhere. Great supporting cast—Angel, Pokwang, Carmina, Zoren, Richard— their characters provided the spine from which the story revolves. Then you have JC Santos. I met him on our way from the ABS-CBN basement

parking, he was right behind us going up the stairwell. He’s a nice young man who was so accommodating in posing first with my tita, then with me. We congratulated him already because of the beautiful trailers, and he was thankful. Mababago na nga ang buhay ng batang ito, but he was so unassuming, he walked into Starbucks and was surprised with the shrieks that greeted him. Like I said, JC is a precious find for TIMY. A diamond in the rough, and he’s going to come out of this experience, a better actor and much more polished in his craft. Watch out for Ali. He is going to win your heart. Of course, there’s the main draw. Just when you thought they can’t possibly do better than OTWOL, James and Nadine give us more. Their passion and dedication really shows in TIMY. As much as we loved Clark and Leah, you won’t see them here (well maybe a little bit of Leah). Basti and Iris, it’s so nice to meet you. Wala pa man pero you are going to steal a lot of hearts again. Nadine is simply the best in this genre, she’s a natural with romcom, and is a delight to watch. She lives, breathes and IS Iris. And Basti? This is James Reid as you’ve never seen him before, a refreshing change from the roles he has played so far. He brings a special charm into the character that only he can, and he does it so effortlessly. And that I guess is the magic of TIMY. We all have seen teleseryes come and go, but only few grab your heart and

stay there for a long time. For me, it was the original Pangako Sa Yo and On the Wings of Love. It’s so easy to get lost in convoluted plots and one-dimensional characters, and there is none of that in TIMY. What we saw was a cinema edit, which had material that could stretch, in my estimation, for around 3-4 weeks, but it was so beautifully done that even after two hours, you were left begging for more. You will end up rooting for each and every character, and have a hard time knowing who to “ship”. They were right. This is a very brave teleserye, but one with a lot of heart. Kudos to everyone behind it, the production team, the writers (standing ovation for you guys!), the cinematographers, (Greece, oh wow, you guys made it look ethereal.) The directors (Direks Tonette and Andoy, take a well-deserved bow) and the cast. Till I Met You is another masterpiece in the making. If that preview was any indication, it’s going to be another hell of a roller coaster experience for all of us. And we will all be shrieking and loving every minute of it. So brace yourself people, and enjoy the ride. Special thanks to Aliana Gimena for the pictures! Don’t miss the triumph of true love in “Till I Met You,” weeknights after “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” on ABS-CBN or ABSCBN HD (SkyCable 167). Pitch Black: Do’s and Don’ts of Black Lipstick It’s high time you try out the lipstick shade that speaks to your dark soul BY HANNAH LAZATIN

W

e all have a little goth in us and I believe when you have the same makeup every single day and never take any risks, you’re missing out on the point of it all. Black lipstick might be intimidating but it also speaks volumes and lends you a whole different character. It could be a form of rebellion or a point of contrast. Learn to use this weapon of beauty through our do’s, don’ts and video tutorial.

DON’T: Go for purely black if it doesn’t match you It might look good on Instagram, but black lipstick isn’t exactly a universal color so no shame going for a dark plum or a deep maroon instead.

DO: Line your lips Line them and color within the lines. It will also help the lips look more defined. You could also fill them in with your lip liner as an initial layer.

DON’T: Forget to check your teeth Do the lip “pop” with your finger to be sure of a clean lip. Can you even imagine what smudged black lipstick looks like? It’ll look like you just had pusit for lunch.

DO: Exfoliate your lips Black lipstick can take a lot of the moisture out of your lips and chapped lips are more obvious with the shade.

DO: Go over the finished product with concealer Clean up any mistakes and go over the outer layer of your lips with a brush and concealer. DON’T: Go full goth Once you go goth, you’ll never go back (or at least, your makeup will look too dark). 11 Humble Brags that Need to Stop W

e all have that one friend (ok, maybe twenty) who insist on ranting about their lives as if they have something to complain about. Please. Spare us your false humility and get over yourself. On second thought, don’t. It’s our guilty pleasure. 1. #WokeUpLikeThis Hahaha, #hindinamaneh. But even if you did wake up like that... What’s the post for again? 2. “Just another day at the office.” – with a picture on the beach, on a plane, or somewhere that’s not a cubicle. Yeah we get it, your job doesn’t suck. 3. “Pigging out on these! Need to hit the gym later (sad face)” – posted by someone REALLY, ANNOYINGLY, and UNDOUBTEDLY fit. And what follows is a host of “But you’re so thin already!” comments, the “You can afford to, girl!” comments, and the “Help me eat and look like you please!” comments. Just eat your burger.

4. “Always choose experiences over expensive things” – says the girl taking a selfie, with the Eiffel Tower in the background, and her Louis Vuitton bag on the table, while she’s holding a mimosa. It makes more sense and sounds more sincere kung ang picture ay nagtatampisaw ka sa baha while laughing. But if obviously you’re experiencing the more expensive things in life, well... 5. “Age ain’t nothing but a number” #TBT – with a now and then picture carefully crafted so that the “now” looks similar to the “then”, but better in a subtle kind of way. Comments: “You haven’t aged a bit! Still gorge!” “You don’t look like you’re ___! What’s your secret?” (to which person replies with- “I don’t do much nga lately eh. Just sunblock, that’s it!”) 6. “I dunno how it happened, but I did it!” – to college, a job, a promotion Edi ikaw na...

7. #nofilter – on a selfie Newsflash, we really don’t walk around with filters IRL. 8. “How we roll.” – on a limo, in a club, champagne, the works. Should we be envious now? Just let us know. 9. “Who says you can’t have your cake and eat it too?” Yes, let’s increase entitlement shall we? 10. *Some quote about the beach or life or vacationing* with: Girl version: see how good I look with my bikini body. Guy version: abs. Person viewing it: On the sofa, wearing sweats. 11. “Gym time!” Don’t people know it’s possible to just go to the gym and not announce it? So people, whenever you get the urge to type in something similarly annoying, fight it with all your might. Why? Because it’s time we glorify the better things in life.

TFC AT THE MOVIES REVIEW

HONOR THY FATHER BY JUAN MIGUEL SEVILLA

F

rom its opening shot, Erik Matti’s “Honor Thy Father” already plunges us into the dirt, with a close-up of Edgar (John Lloyd Cruz) tilling the soil for his client’s garden. That the film’s title or opening shot alludes to the book of Exodus and Genesis respectively is no coincidence. Here lie characters taken straight out of the bible – those banished from the Garden and forced to work the land. The film tackles faith, obsession and hypocrisy head-on, unflinchingly. Edgar and wife Kaye (Meryll Soriano) struggle to make ends meet, with the latter providing for their family through her father’s company. It turns out; the company is racket scheme, sending irate investors to their door. What started out as a means to support loved ones turns into a catastrophic series of events that uncovers some dark secrets regarding Edgar. John Lloyd Cruz taps into a darker side of his persona, revealing a fragile shell of a man, who, when backed into

the corner, is forced into a past he has forgotten. It is a towering performance and gives the movie its core. While a lengthy digging sequence towards the end almost derails the film, Cruz manages to pull it off quite well. Lest this start to sound like a story where good people triumph over bad people, let’s just put this out there: everyone here is a bad person. From the cult-ish Christian church hiding hypocrisies under their roof or the duped investors who turn out to be opportunists, no one here is immaculate. The story is as simple as can be. It drives its point succinctly but effectively. But Matti and screenwriter Michiko Yamamoto paint a bleak picture of our current scenario – where there is not much difference between criminals who wave guns and wear masks, and criminals who thump the bible and wear white. Made just outside the confines of the mainstream, the movie is able to go to the darker recesses of our society creating a tense, gripping family drama set in a desolate land that is filled with liars, hypocrites and charlatans. The film argues that the world has forgotten a simple truth – we are all rejects from Eden who are cursed to toil the Earth for as long as we are alive. Plunge through the dirt and no one comes out clean. No one comes out the same. Honor Thy Father is available for rent at www.tfcatthemovies.com

The Untold Love Story of KathNiel In Barcelona The progression of their relationship in film. BY PATTI SUNIO

T

ransitioning from tweeny-bopper roles (Must Be… Love, She’s Dating The Gangster, and Crazy Beauiful You) to millennial #adulting stories (Barcelona: A Love Untold—coming very SOON!), we bore witness to the slowly unfolding love story of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla onscreen. And from crazy beginnings to nagkaka-developan na, we’re all looking forward to see what’s next for KathNiel in Barcelona.

STAGE 1

IT MUST BE PUPPY LOVE This KathNiel film (with Little Kath and Little DJ) definitely won our hearts. The young Patchot who accidentally fell in love with her BFF, Ivan, was unfortunately friendzoned, back in the days when ~friendzoning~ wasn’t an allfamiliar term to us yet.

TFC ALL ACCESS V O L U M E

2

I S S U E

7

25

But despite their young and innocent ~love~, we could all still relate to Patchot’s pain. Especially when she finally, tearfully, confessed her love to Ivan, and asked him if he loved her back. And Ivan merely responded with a nonchalant “Siguro. Baka. Pwede.”

But soon their relationship grows deeper than their snappy retorts and comebacks, and takes a detour from disaster to a beautiful love story. It even ends with Kiko’s promise of marriage by the mountains, or rather, the beautiful disaster.

But those words were enough to convince us they were MTB.

STAGE 4

STAGE 2

And finally, we have Barcelona: A Love Untold. Kathryn and Daniel are back, this time with a lot of baggage, #hugots, and millennial issues to overcome.

ANGSTY LOVE In She’s Dating The Gangster, Kenji and Athena once again put their hearts at risk when they mutually agree to a fake relationship. While initially, the set-up is supposed to make Kenji’s love interest jealous, it backfires because the two eventually grow fond of each other. The movie is one dear to our hearts because it gave us a good throwback in fashion and hairstyles, just the right mix of rom and com, and taught us a thing or two about teenage, angsty love (that at one point or another, we’ve all experienced), and yes, couple shirts. STAGE 3

CRAZY BEAUTIFUL LOVE Nothing’s gonna stop KathNiel now. In Crazy Beautiful You, the two are more forward and aggressive of their #feels. Jackie and Kiko start off as partners-in-crime, with the occasional pang-aasar, and Kiko dropping hints of his admiration for Jackie in the ~swabe~ way only he can do.

A LOVE UNTOLD

Ely and Mia both face an unknown future in a city stranger to them, where they hope to find one too many things: an escape from the past, a new

beginning, and perhaps, a deeper understanding of life, and their own true selves. But in their search for purpose, they find each other, and in each other, they find love. And what does LOVE mean exactly, in this millennial day and age? It could be a fleeting, short-lived one, driven by the amazing backdrop of the foreign Barcelona; or a serious, long-term relationship, that Ely and Mia will be set to work out, if in case they are geographically separated.

Because growing up, we realize love isn’t all the simple. “Mahal kita,” says Ely. “You don’t have to,” Mia replies. Just this two lines leaves us ethereally curious of what their untold love story could be.

Why “a love untold”? No labels, exclusively dating, HOHOL, et cetera. There are several ways to DTR these days, and fact is, this is how millennials have accepted things to be. We have our own definitions of love, after all.

Barcelona: FIRLSOTOK KathNiel’s BigScreen Surprise The KathNiel tandem is gearing up for another surefire blockbuster hit that will serve as their latest treat to their fans and future converts

Kathryn and Daniel spent almost a month filming their new movie in Barcelona, Spain. The movie, helmed by master director, Olivia M. Lamasan, evolves around the love story of Ely and Mia, who met in the cosmopolitan capital of Spain’s Catalonia region. During their time in the European country, photos of their sweetness together circulated the internet and made fans giddy and even more excited for the said movie. From their #coupledressing goals to their sweet moments along the coast of Barcelona, KathNiel made sure to make every moment count. Of the movie, Kathryn shares, “Ang ganda lang talaga nung story and parang perfect lahat ng taong nilagay nila dito sa movie na ito, so hopefully maging smooth and maganda siya.”

By Michelle AngelA OrOsA cArAg

A

year after their last movie Crazy Beautiful You raked in more than 300 million pesos in the box office, Daniel and Kathryn will topbill a new movie under Star Cinema, titled —this time to be helmed by award-winning filmmaker “Inang” Olive Lamasan, who also directed the critically-acclaimed movies Madrasta, In My Life and Starting Over Again. Just last June, the young stars flew to Barcelona, Spain to start fliming. The plot follows the story of Ely (Daniel) and Mia (Kathryn), who are both hoping for a fresh start in Barcelona after dealing with their painful past. There, Ely juggles work with school in order to finish his Master’s Degree. Meanwhile, Mia uproots herself from her life in the Philippines in the hopes of restarting over in another country. Together, they will embark on a journey to find the answers to their life-long questions as they resolve their past and find selfforgiveness. Dubbed as ‘their most mature project’ yet, Daniel said in an interview with ABS-CBN News that he and Kathryn have pulled out all the stops to give their best in this movie. “Gagalingan namin ni Kathryn. Siyempre nandiyan naman si Direk Olive para gabayan kami sa lahat ng eksena namin. Hindi niya kami titigilan hangga’t hindi niya nakukuha ’yung gusto niya. Talagang excited din kami doon,” he said. Kathryn is grateful for the support they are getting from their fans. In a recent interview during an endorsement launch she shares, “Nakakatuwa sila (the fans). ‘Di pa kami nag shu-shoot ng movie sinasabi nila mayroon na silang fund for block screening. Hindi naman biro magpa-block screening,” In return, Kathryn swears to give the fans something worth watching for.

Be Still, My Tug-dug Tug-dug Heart! BRB, watching TIMY trailer on repeat… BY PATTI SUNIO

i

n a world full of almosts and maybes, how do you know kung sino ang ALWAYS na para sayo? Well, you have to learn to listen to the tug-dug, tug-dug, tug-dug-dug-dug of your heart. Because sometimes, life pulls tricks on you and lets you fall into faulty relationships, and when you’re not looking, that’s when love sneaks in.

We take a look into Iris, Basti, and Alejandro’s love triangle in Till I Met You, and pick up clues from the trailer on how we can guard our hearts and train it to tug-dug only for the right person.

THE AKALA MO TUG-DUG

May gwapo. Tug-dug. Nag-hug kayo. Tug-dug. Nag-I love you. Tug-dug-dug-dug. That’s normal. Like Iris, it’s completely understandable why she fell for her BFF Alejandro. He’s good-looking, nice, and affectionate. Plus, mag-MU sila. Only that the MU means having the hots for the same person. And that’s when the conflict starts. No, it’s not the tug-dug of true love. You’re just excited. Maybe it’s because hindi ka sanay. First time mo e, and it’s okay. It only means he’s not the one for you. So, on to the next.

THE ABSENCE OF TUG-DUG Maybe you’ve bumped into him right around the corner before. Or maybe it’s your first time seeing each other. Yup, gwapo siya.

THE TAMANG TUG-DUG

This is when you’ll feel the connection. Usually, the tug-dug comes as an effect of the simplest or most mundane of things. A smile not meant for you. A half-hearted wave that could mean he’s just friendly. An favorite ice cream flavor you both share.

Yes, she’s cute. But that’s it. No sparks flying (yet!) But that doesn’t mean it’s over. The absence of a tug-dug in your heartbeat could mean that it’s not yet the right time to fall in love. Maybe you two have things to figure out. Maybe there are still people getting in the way. But in the end, in wherever part of this world, you’ll eventually find your way back to each other. Wait ka lang. 38

It could be a soft, faint beating; or a bold, unrelenting one that’s impossible to ignore. You’ll know it, because the tugdug feels real.

3

Paint the dress with your preferred color.

Paint in extra details like a white lace trim and outline the whole dress and create draping/ creases with black paint.

4 5

Cut the dress with a pair of heavy duty scissors.

Create the bag and hair accessories following the same steps above.

1

Using a pencil, design the dress. To make sure that the paper doll dress is proportionate to the child’s body frame, measure the length from the neck to the waist, down to the desired length of the design. Don’t forget to add the folding flaps.

6

Attach ribbons to the paper doll dress to wrap around the child’s body. At the back part of the dress, glue the ribbons on the shoulder and waist areas. Secure further by adding a small piece of chipboard on top of the ribbon.

7

Attach the hair accessory to a headband. With a small strip of black board paper, create two looped hinges to wrap around the headband and attach to the back of the hair accessory with hot glue. tip: Apply a little makeup and curl the hair to finish the look.

1

Using kraft paper or newspaper, create a curved cupcake base pattern that measures 41” wide at the top, 32” wide at the bottom and 11.25” in height. Pencil in a line from one bottom corner to the other. At the center of the line, measure 6.25” up. This will be your guide as to how tall the bottom curve should be. This will help you create the curved cupcake base.

8

Cut the pattern, trace on the corrugated board and cut.

Create body straps for the cupcake base with ribbons. Apply four strips of ribbon, about 30” each, equally spaced at the inside of the base. Place the ribbons a little lower than the middle part to give balance to the cupcake base and keep its round shape when worn.

For the icing, wrap the white towel around the child. Move the towel and play with it to create drapes to mimic icing. Hot glue the drapes at the back part to secure the effect. Add Velcro so it will be easy for the child to put on and remove the towel icing.

7

Embellish with candy sprinkles using pompoms in different colors. Use hot glue.

Using a cutter, cut two circles from a tissue paper roll for the goggles, about 1” in height. Stick them together with hot glue.

2

Materials: - yellow hat - toilet paper roll - black board paper - 3 pcs. black pipe cleaners - glue gun - needle and thread - denim overalls - plain yellow t-shirt - black gloves - black sneakers

Cut two strips of black board paper about 12” in height and the width of a standard ruler. Attach to each side of the goggle frame with hot glue. Set aside.

3

With a wire cutter, cut the black pipe cleaners in half. Tip: If you can’t find black pipe cleaners, use a marker to color over.

4

Place the pipe cleaners at the top of the hat and sew in at the middle of the pipe cleaners. Fold the pipe cleaners up so they stand like a Minion’s hair.

5

Let the child wear the hat and position the goggles; secure the ends with hot glue.

baby popcorn Materials: For the baby: - baby carrier - red and white felt - Velcro - pencil - glue gun - scissors - plain white bonnet - plain white onesie - plain popcorn

For the mom: - red ribbon - white long sleeve shirt - black pants - black closed shoes

With a pencil, draw in letters for the popcorn label, and cut. The letters we made are 2” tall and about 1.25” wide.

6

Arrange letters on a piece of white felt and position as desired. Secure with hot glue. Cut around the white felt, making a background outline for the popcorn label. Attach to the popcorn bag.

1

Use the carrier as a guide for making the popcorn bag. Measure and add wraparound flaps. Add about 2” to the top part to have enough space to do the zigzag cut of the popcorn bag.

2 3

7

Cut a curved zigzag line across the top of the popcorn bag. Make sure that the baby’s head will show a bit when the popcorn bag is placed around the carrier.

Attach Velcro to the flaps with hot glue.

8

Cut strips of red felt with the width of a standard ruler. For this project, we used 16 strips. We also placed the red strips on the flaps so that the design continues on the sides.

With the glue gun, paste pieces of popcorn on the bonnet. Tip: Crumple a sheet of newspaper into a ball and use as a base for the bonnet for easier placement of popcorn.

4

9

Attach red strips with hot glue, spacing them a quarter of an inch apart.

Create a bowtie with a 2.75” red ribbon. Use a pin to attach to the neck area of the mom’s top.

Select a theme and work around it—from the treats you’ll give away to your costumes. The Baby Popcorn costume would be perfect for this! Kids come for treats and they usually go home with loads of candies. But over the past several years, we’ve seen a lot of food items—“dirty” ice cream, fish balls, taho, fries and even shawarma, hotdog sandwiches and burgers. Parents absolutely love them and they are welcome alternatives from all the cavityinducing sweets.

Set up an arts and crafts station for the kids where they can build their own spider with paper, glue and googly eyes; paint a monster using the blow paint technique where they spread different colors of paint by blowing air through a straw; make their own ghost with paper plates and strips of crepe paper; or you can even do a bubbling potion experiment with vinegar, baking soda and food coloring.

PLaY FOr treats

Think carnival games: toss can, pin the tail, balloon pop, ring toss, etc. These activities are easy to make and inexpensive. Make them Halloweenthemed as well; you can do a pin the missing bone on a skeleton. Just make sure you give the kids a treat after playing. They don’t have to be expensive; it could be a small toy, a snack or some candies.
