Whether you are a talented athlete, or you’re a sports enthusiast planning a career in sport or fitness, then studying a sports or physical education based course at Henley is a step in the right direction.

Sport is a huge industry offering many diverse roles to those wishing to pursue a career in this area. A healthy and active lifestyle is important for everybody from the young to the old, beginner to elite, and our courses will equip you with the skills and knowledge to either move on to further study in a specialised area, or prepare for a future career in this field. Our Physical Education A Level and vocational sports courses are a popular gateway for students interested in studying sports science, health and fitness, psychology, nutrition biomechanics, anatomy, physiology, physiotherapy and the development of sports technology, as well as the role of sport in society. Our students have gone on to a range of destinations including PE teaching, coaching, fitness, armed forces, physiotherapy, sports therapy, sports development, analysis, journalism and nutrition. You will benefit from teaching staff with industry knowledge, quality coaching and teaching enhanced by a real passion for the subject.

Student Profile

Sophie is studying the Extended Diploma in Sports and Exercise Sciences and is a scholar on the Elite Girls’ Rugby Programme. “The College has provided me with many educational and sporting opportunities and has been the perfect place for me to grow not only as a student, but also as a rugby player. It has helped me to become more independent and self-reliant. The College has helped to create the perfect balance, allowing me time and space to focus on both my studies and my rugby training, which are equally important to me. The support I have received from the Elite Rugby Programme has been outstanding.”

Sophie joined the College from The Abbey School and recently played in the Women's Allianz Cup for Harlequins.

Did you know...

● In 2022, A Level Physical Education achieved a 86% pass rate, with 24% of students gaining a high grade (A* to B).
