UK and Europe news
Regional update
We held our first Latte Series LIVE e-vent, The Impact of Brexit on the Energy Sector in March. EIC CEO Stuart Broadley moderated the session and our panel of experts discussed how Brexit Jo Campbell has and will impact the energy sector. We also dedicated one week to floating offshore wind, welcoming Blue Float Energy, Falck Renewables as well as a leader in the field, Principle Power. Both webinars drew a lot of attention, with Principle Power’s chief commercial officer and senior business development manager discussing market developments in the UK and Ireland and the path to full-scale commercial projects that will bring clean renewable energy to all. We then heard from newcomers, Blue Float Energy and Falck Renewables, who discussed how each plan to leverage their complementary capabilities to unlock the potential for floating offshore wind in Scotland, and deliver economic growth for the broader Scottish community. Thank you to our global digital supporters for these e-vents: Wood, TEXO and Donut. We were also delighted to work with ABB last month and discussed the recently awarded ‘project of the year’ Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) project. Senior management from TANAP described the project, its purpose, challenges and successes. ABB then spoke on the delivery of its largest ever fully integrated telecoms, security and SCADA system. With the pipeline spanning 1,850km and securing 5% of Europe’s energy needs, the e-vent was both informative and inspiring. This month we will be looking back on what has been a demanding year for the energy sector and how businesses are now gearing up for a recovery period, with operations resuming and new opportunities on the horizon. Join us a year on to hear from EIC’s market intelligence team who will give an overview of the current state of play and how companies have adapted as the pandemic and market evolved. EIC is delighted to be partnering with Sellafield to offer a high-level webinar for potential suppliers where service delivery options will be outlined for their Fellside combined heat and power plant (CHPP). The CHPP is now an ageing facility operating beyond its design life, which means Sellafield Ltd is currently engaged in a detailed review of the future operations and management of the Fellside site prior to conducting a tender competition. This webinar will give attendees exclusive access to the proposed service delivery options and how you and your company can get involved. Thank you to UnitBirwelco, Dot Group International and BS&B who are the global digital supporters for this e-vent. We are also delighted to be bringing together a group of independent industry leaders for a webinar which will address the urgent need of financing net zero. The multiorganisational network of industry experts, FTech2Zero, has been drawn together to develop a white paper recognising the challenges associated with financing and deploying novel technology, raising awareness, and assessing the solutions that can be adapted by both financial institutions and technology providers alike. Don’t miss out and join us on 1 April. In addition, and continuing with this year’s Road to COP26 series, we are thrilled to announce that the EIC along with international supporting partners are working together on 11 and 12 May to host a twoday virtual LIVE e-vent, The North Sea Decarbonisation Conference. As the North Sea basin is in pole position to play a leading role in the transition to a low carbon energy future this conference will address key areas in the race to net zero. Sessions will focus on: offshore wind, hydrogen, CCUS, electricity interconnectors, financing net zero, ocean energy, Waste to X, fulfilling the skills demand and low-carbon manufacturing. The conference has several partnership packages on offer to increase brand awareness and reach out to the energy sector. To find out more email eventsuk@the-eic.com
