Human beings are inherently different, cultures are different, and it’s always a difficult quest finding professionals to develop successful working relationships in any area, specially from one continent to another. I know this by personal experience in the “Art World” making a life with artists, galleries and promoters in the Americas for many years. Finding Gorgonio Sanjuán was a strike of luck. I knew of him for the first time in social media sharing news about GOYART’s catalogue tour through Mexico. I though his perspective was interesting and invited him to bring some of his artists’ artwork to a gallery under my direction, in Dallas . He accepted the invitation and a new bridge was created. Over time, we find ourselves to be like minded individuals with a focus on art, and the Artist. Since then, we’ve collaborated in many successful projects. In my organization, IN3 Artworldwide, we enjoy the openness and most of all the trust that has been developed through the years, bringing the support that every artist needs to have for a successful art career. Our commitment to Art began in 2003 with the creation of Art Fair Artery in the north of Spain. We changed the traditional concept of an art fair by providing artists the deserved prominence, even over their own creative work. We were interested in the people behind the artwork, the authors who dedicate their time and put all the best of themselves to create and exist, as a vital process that feeds the being. For the past 15 years we have traveled to many countries and curated hundreds of exhibitions, which allowed us to meet thousands of artists from all continents. Always a common thread, a common bond, a way of understanding the world that is different from the rest of humanity. We continue to open roads, we continue looking for “something” and finding a lot in each corner. It is our particular trip to Itacas, where we hope the roads are very long and full of adventure. We want to find a common space, a continent where we can share experiences and communicate in a language that doesn’t understand differences and inequalities, a common language that comes from the heart and that is universal. We offer this new channel of communication at the service of so many friends from the many countries that we visit, to help us create solid bonds to build bridges to cross. We share this adventure with many friends with whom we collaborate, especially with Diana Moya who has helped us so much over the years. Don’t stand by the door, come in! Il tema della “migrazione” come necessità di fuggire dal luogo di origine da guerre o dalla mancanza di cibo con l’intenzione di stabilirsi temporaneamente o permanentemente in un nuovo luogo. Ma anche un movimento che si compie in modo regolare, periodico (stagionale), lungo rotte ben precise. In tutti i casi gli esseri viventi rimangono legati da un _lo alla zona da cui si inizia il proprio viaggio senza avere la certezza di poterla rivedere. Il tratto di grafico e illustratore di Arrigo si enfatizza nei lavori esposti. Il colore e una creatività semplice e poetica accompagnano il viaggio di umani e animali. Quale sia il messaggio ? Forse che non si può sfuggire alla necessità di migrare perché ogni essere vivente ha bisogno di muoversi senza barriere. Alessandro Arrigo è un Grafico e illustratore italiano. Lavora da molti anni nel mondo della comunicazione collaborando con agenzie, aziende ed enti pubblici tra cui Telecom Italia, Virgilio, RAI televisione Italiana, Action Aid, Ministero dell’Ambiente, AIFA – Agenzia Italiana del Farmaco. I suoi disegni sono stati usati come copertine di album di musicisti e collabora con case editrici per la realizzazione delle copertine di libri. Ha esposto i suoi lavori in mostre personali e collettive.
The theme of “migration” as the need to escape from the place of origin by wars or lack of food with the intention of settling temporarily or permanently in a new place. But also a movement that is performed regularly, periodically (seasonal) along well-de_ned routes. In all cases, living beings are bound by a thread to the area from which you start your journey without being certain that you can review it again. The graphic artist and illustrator of Arrigo is emphasized in this works. Color and a simple and poetic creativity accompany the journey of humans and animals. What is the message? Perhaps we can not escape the need to migrate because every living thing needs to move without barriers.

Melilla Tourism Francisco Javier Mateo Figueroa Vice-Councillor Tourism President of “ Patronato de turismo de Melilla “
To talk about culture in Melilla is to talk about its history. Is talking about the four cultures living in the city, talk about two shores in the Mediterranean Sea which have crossed many peoples, Phoenicians, Romans, Carthaginians and who settled in these two banks leaving over the centuries a Cultural richness. This cultural wealth of the people, who came to our shore, is reflected in the Museums of History, Archeology and Ethnography of Melilla located in the warehouses of Las Penuelas, La Ciudadela, and were built in 1781 under the reign of Carlos III and the mandate of Governor Antonio Manso. These museums show many aspects of our history and our cultural wealth, and if possible even more, by adding new rooms devoted to Sephardic culture and Berber where you can find numerous examples of their culture and their main celebrations and customs, giving rise to the only museum in Spain that adds both cultures. Stroll through all these rooms is a walk through the history of Melilla, their Neolithic prehistoric monuments reflected in the deposit of Chafarinas, the arrival of the Phoenicians and the Punic-Mauritanian settlement in Rusaddir, the Roman city or the later Islamic Malila. From 1497 begins the Spanish Melilla, which forms a new period that covers until the late nineteenth, as a preamble to the modern Melilla of the twentieth century. Culture is the main future value of a city that wants to assert its identity, and that is why in Melilla, its museums are a window to it. If we talk about art in Melilla, we have to talk about the Ibáñez Museum, a museum that is a reality, thanks to the free transfer to the Autonomous City of Melilla of a fundamental part of the private collection of the Almeria Andrés García Ibáñez (Olula del Río, 1971) for a period of ten years. Located in the heart of Melilla la Vieja, in the historic Torre de la Vela, the Ibáñez Museum of Melilla is presented to the visitor as a trip for two hundred years through Art Spanish modern and contemporary, with particular attention to nineteenth-century realism, the new Figuration and documentary photography; artistic choices of a speech that starts from tradition and reaches the contemporary world with full force and relevance. Throughout the six rooms they are exhibited part of the personal collection of García Ibáñez-core fundamentals of pinacoteca- and a selection of works by the artistic heritage of Melilla. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet and enjoy the works of the leading masters of painting, sculpture, drawing, printmaking and Spanish photography and, among them, some artists of Melilla, from the late eighteenth century to the present. All this and much more awaits to be discovered in this enclave of North Africa, the African Spain: Melilla.

UNESCO Center of autonomous city of Melilla It’s been a little over forty years since, in 1976, UNESCO made its first statement on Cultural Tourism, bringing its heritage vision that incorporate WTO in 1995, supplemented by their own perspective of tourism. Soon, in 1999, ICOMOS would draft its cultural tourism charter. And the same forty years since, in the decade of the 80s, Cultural Tourism was consolidated as a form of alternative tourism and reaction to mass tourism, within the new socio-economic and cultural environments that were being generated. At present, Cultural Tourism tends to be considered as an opportunity for economic and social development through the implementation of actions on heritage, conservation and interpretation and on other cultural aspects with people who also have other intangible forms such as creativity and experience, practices that are creating a multitude of dynamics. Upon receiving the project for the creation of the International Exhibition of Contemporary Art in Melilla, proposed by my colleague Melik Diouri Benyelun, Vocal Contemporary Art and Creative Design UNESCO Center Melilla (Spain), I found it exciting draw up a joint plan for inclusion of Melilla in the international circuit of Cultural Tourism. The movements of Contemporary Art with its social, economic, territorial and cultural specificities, constitute one of the most powerful and attractive future for Cultural Tourism, they are like a fresh stalk for its dynamism and for its multiple forms of interrelation with the local society. In this sense, they are imbricated especially in urban destinations, with the city being one of the most frequent frames of cultural production. Dr. D. Visualize the cultural environment of Melilla, stirring it culturally and intervening in the life of the city and its inhabitants, through decontextualizations that invite participation, to include this beautiful African and Spanish city in the world circuit of cultural tourism, is our objective. The First International Exhibition of Contemporary Art and Tourism of Melilla, was born with the vocation of service from UNESCO Melilla with the support of the Tourist Board and the Vice-Ministry of Culture of the Autonomous City of Melilla. To do this, we have designed a model to any artistic discipline with sufficient rigor in the selection of works, fleeing the academic model, to bring culture to the streets and squares of the city. Melilla is a city that reminds us of miscegenation and influence of cultures that make up our modern civilization. It is a pleasure to coordinate and direct this exciting initiative with the support and involvement of gallery owners, international associations and institutions. It will undoubtedly be an innovative event that will allow visitors to get to know Africa in an intercultural context. With 18 Invited Countries of the Mediterranean, 70 speakers of recognized prestige and with more than 400 registered, was held the V Forum of Cities and Creative Territories of Spain in the city of Melilla, from 24 to 29 October, under the motto of “ Melilla, the Door of the Mediterranean “. Creative Spain, a new modernity, a territory in transformation. The Forum is an initiative of the Master in Creative Economy of the Rey Juan Carlos University and the Creative Spain Association: Innovation in Network, which emerges as a collaboration strategy between Universities, Administrations, Companies and Civil Society, to promote and spread the new concept of “Creative City” as an alternative model to the decline of the industrial city, thus promoting an innovative and flexible, connected and sustainable, cultural and emotional city, which presents the creativity and innovation capacity of cities and territories, as the main source of your competitive advantage and global positioning. “España Creativa “ is presented as a new modernity, in a territory in transformation. Among its multiple objectives, to promote the internationalization of Spanish culture and promote social cohesion between Autonomous Communities, Cities and other legally constituted Territories, through a network model, already constituted by 41 Members, thus helping to manage the cultural diversity of Spain. Catalonia will host the 2018 Creative Spain Cup, after having won the the “Copa España Creativa 2018 “ in this V Forum held in the city of Melilla this October, with its project “Old districts much to discover”. The Creative Spain Cup is the recognition of the most creative and innovative project in our country that is delivered annually within the framework of the Forum, through a public call and a jury of experts. Carlos Ruiz Carlos Ruiz, soy fotógrafo independiente y residente en Madrid, la ciudad que me vio crecer. A lo largo de los años he trabajado como freelance con diferentes medios y productoras, realizando reportajes relacionados con la cultura, el deporte y especialmente retratos para actores y agencias. Desde hace un par de años decidí poner en marcha mi proyecto mas personal. Siempre me atrajo mucho la fotografía de paisaje nocturna y comencé a realizar localizaciones que mas tarde visitaría para mostrar esos paisajes de una forma diferente a como los vemos con nuestros ojos. Trabajo durante la hora dorada, la hora azul y la noche donde la linea entre lo real y la ficción resulta muy fina, dotando mis fotografías de un aire místico y quizás cinematográfico. La fotografía de larga exposición a supuesto un punto de inflexión en mi carrera.

Damace Las últimas obras de Damace creadas para sus exposiciones de finales de 2017 y 2018 vuelven a la linea de su colección mas destacada, “Sueños, Pesadillas y Realidades desde lo mas gris”. Sobre madera, con pinturas industriales y sobre fondo negro logra sacar luces y colores que no nos dejan indiferentes. Con Renacer, vemos ese cambio, con el que el artista nos da a entender una nueva vida, una nueva etapa y al ver la obra entendemos que es para mejor. Damace nacio en Zaragoza el 12 de mayo de 1982. Este artista contemporáneo desde pequeño va conociendo el trabajo familiar, trabajo que le hace aprender a transformar diversos materiales con sus manos. Siempre inquieto y con ganas de más, va investigando distintas reacciones de sus pinturas, trazando una evolución que no cesa hasta el día de hoy. En julio de 2010 llega su primera exposición. La que le hace abrir los ojos y le abre las puertas al mundo del arte. Desde entonces como un autentico vendaval ha realizado una gran cantidad de exposiciones, pasando por las mejores

salas de su ciudad, Zaragoza. Y dando el salto a Madrid y Barcelona entre otras ciudades de España y llegando a exponer internacionalmente en Estocolmo, Amsterdam, Paris, Marruecos, Mexico. De esta manera sus sentimientos mas íntimos pasan a ser públicos a través de sus pinturas.
Guillermina Sánchez Oró Guillermina Sánchez oró, artista plástica, profesora en ciencias, Presidenta de la Asociación de Pintores de Murcia (APIMUR) y vicepresidenta de la Casa de la región de Murcia en Madrid, además de dirigir un Rincón Literario mensual y editar una revista de arte digital al trimestre. Tiene un dominio del color y la luz que hace que formes parte de la obra cuando la contemplas. Ha expuesto en gran parte de la geografía nacional, y sus trabajos pueden verse en lugares internacionales como Nueva York, Paraguay, Rumanía, Italia y Tetuán. Es una persona que ama el arte en todas sus dimensiones por encima de cualquier otra cosa y por sus vivencias en Marruecos hace de este uno de sus temas icónicos. Además, otra de sus particularidades es que su carácter es solidario y cooperador con las asociaciones o instituciones que la necesitan, como el cáncer, el alzheimer, las personas con diferencias sociales o cognitivas… siempre ayuda en todas estas causas. Sus obras se pueden encontrar en instituciones y colecciones tanto públicas como privadas en España y Francia.
Gwendoline Taylor Soy una apasionada de los animales y por eso desde hace muchos años me dedico a retratarlos, sobre todo los caballos. Trato de expresar con cariño su personalidad como la dulzura que se ve en la cara de Adagio. Pinto con pastel sobre papel Canson. Trabajo desde fotografías realizadas por mi en algunos casos o por los propietarios de los animales.

Llilli López Tengo una larga trayectoria artística y ejerzo como profesora de Arte en mi localidad. Mi cuadro está inspirado en la música de Tchaikovski del ballet, «El lago de los cisnes» .

Iniciando mi interés por el arte desde muy joven, formándome en la Escuela de Arte Luján Pérez en las Palmas de Gran Canaria en 1977, Escuela de Artes y oficios artísticos en Gran Canaria 1979. Delineante industrial. Asistiendo a diferentes talleres a lo largo de mi carrera de: dibujo, restauración, texturas, oleo, acrílicos, acuarela con grandes maestros del arte que me han hecho evolucionar a lo largo de mi camino, con una inquietud constante que se traduce en una realidad pictórica vital Sintiendo la necesidad de expresarme a través de ella, liberando así mis emociones, expresando lo que siento, mis miedos, mis dudas, mis alegrías, mis tristezas. Intentando plasmar siempre el alma de la obra para que ella por si sola lo transmita, ya sea realismo, Arte abstracto, surrealismo etc... Diferentes estilos del arte contemporáneo, me gusta experimentar e investigar con diferentes texturas, pigmentos y materiales. Exponiendo en Europa: España, Francia, Italia Suecia, Lituania, Rumania, Portugal, Finladia,Bulgaria, Principado de Andorra. América: Seleccionada como artista invitada en New York, Dallas, Argentina y México. África: Tetuán, Marruecos. Con unas 70 exposiciones internacionales 75 individuales , 230 colectivas, Ferias, concursos, benéficas y premios.

Juan ART Caravaca Color y líneas interminables es lo que nos ofrece la obra de Juan Caravaca. El artista Alicantino nos introduce en su mundo de bosques a través de una pintura que algunos califican de geométrica, y que acaba formado un laberinto cromático que atrae al espectador e intriga al entendido en arte. Su forma de ver el mundo nos recuerda a Mondrian, aunque mas caótico, por la cantidad de trazos que forman sus obras. Vivas y llenas de color, atrapan texturas imposibles sobre el lienzo. De su biografía, remarcaremos lo mas importante, en el poco tiempo que lleva como artista profesional ha tenido varias exposiciones interesantes, como la que le llevo al museo Daphne en Paris, a Roma junto a la Fontana de Trevi, o a estar en plantilla de la galería alemana Fries, en Dusseldorf. Estudioso del arte y casi autodidacta, lucha por hacerse un nombre en el mundo del arte.

Leonor Berlanga Me gusta trabajar sobre diferentes soportes y con materiales distintos, así poco a poco va apareciendo una obra nueva, con su propia identidad pero que a la vez ha integrado y fusionado muchos elementos. El collage y la técnica mixta son dos constantes en mi trabajo, la abstracción es el medio que mejor se adapta a mi forma de entender el arte y la vida, donde todos interaccionamos y creamos a la vez infinidad de realidades, en ellas, los pensamientos, los deseos y los sentimientos se entremezclan buscando un sentido o composición a nuestra existencia, al igual que lo hacen los colores, sus veladuras y las texturas dentro de una obra.

Sighisoara
The medieval jewel of Romania Sighisoara is situated in the Hartibaciului Plateau, subdivision of the Tarnavelor Plateau, part of the Transylvanian Depression. The geographic coordinates of the town are 24°46’40” Eastern longitude and 46°12’40” Northern latitude. The city of Sighisoara, “the most beautiful and well kept fortified town in Transylvania”, a medieval European town with 28.102 inhabitants is situated in the center of Romania, at the crossroads of important commercial roads. Its position made the town to an important commercial, handicraft and administrative and cultural center. Nowadays all these are supplemented by its importance as a tourism center, considering not only the interest for the best kept medieval citadel but also the starting point for neighborhood of the city of Sighisoara. Sighisoara, an authentic museum city offers to the modern visitor the chance to achieve a journey back in time. Since 1999 Sighisoara was included on the list of UNESCO World Heritage, being considered the best example of Transylvania and Central Europe. Sighisoara’s main touristic attraction is the Medieval Citadel, with towers, bastions, churches and houses, which could be preserved until nowadays. The Clock Tower is the main entrance to the citadel, opposite to the Tailor’s Tower. It gained its named due to its clock with figurines, unique in Romania which is situated at the 4th flour. The Clock Tower constitutes a symbolic image of Sighisoara and unlike other tower, built by different guilds, it belonged to the all community, being the house of the Council. In present, the Clock Tower is housing the History Museum of the Sighisoara Municipality. Most of the 164 living houses, being at least 300 years old, are considered historic monuments: the House with Stag, the House on the Rock, the House with Shingle, the Venetian House, the Vlad Dracul House, the Hotel Complex “Sighisoara”, the Town Hall building.
Sighisoara Blues Festival, the only prestigious cultural event of its kind in Romania, takes place in February each year, in the Hall of the Culture House “Mihai Eminescu”. As a cultural event with international participation, the festival aims to promote the blues, the musical genre which, although it is poorly represented on the national scene, addresses to a constant growing audience. Sighisoara Celebration is an event added in the cultural agenda in May 2008. It is an occasion for the promotion of local heritage and cultural history of Sighisoara. The event is structured on several sections: the conference section - about local history, the exhibition section - photographs and paintings of young local artists and the music section dedicated to lovers of folklore and modern music. “Medieval Sighisoara” Festival is a milestone in the cultural life of Sighisoara. It takes place during the last weekend of July, each year. It is structured on several sections, namely: a theatre section, a section for children, a medieval dance section, an old music section, a medieval poetry section and a conference section. Academic Music Festival takes place in the first decade of August and is an event that brings together musicians from all over the world. During this festival take place also the summer music courses. The Interethnic Festival “ProEtnica” takes place in August. This event supports the development and preservation of harmony and interethnic interaction in Romania. Neutral-ism is configured and presents itself as a multiform artistic movement, innately eclectic, driven to bring together the widest range of tendencies, even those that are opposing, though not for that reason irreconcilable; it expresses and redeems the malaise created by intense contemporary incomprehension and the thousands of fertile divergences that spring from the encounter with, or the forced or spontaneous coexistence of, different cultures. It is founded on the vital presence of differences. Neutral-ism places at the center of this dialogue or intermirroring of different cultures its neutral and universal Ism in order to produce a civil and expressive encounter between these differences, which are valuable because they address, and perhaps even resolve, the issues posed by intercultural exchange, and the contaminations and metamorphoses of a world by now globalized. Neutralist Art serves as the flexible and patient balancing point between the detached and excessively superficial venture of pure conceptualism and the arduous and intricate nexus of informal art. Neutralist Thought thus positions itself in a polemical relation to all contemporary work that has privileged and elevated concept over emotion. It is because of this that the Neutralist Movement distances itself from frigid, purely conceptual art that lacks any direct imprint of the maker. We hold, in fact, that a work realized and forged through the use of reason alone is deprived of its fundamental framework and constitution, which is a humanistic one... Only the artist is capable of transferring this humanistic component to a work through his or her intervention as creator, independent of any theoretical or concrete obligation, or worse, any technical or technological prosthesis that prevents the artist from fully transferring or revealing the emotive component of the senses and the feelings associated with them. Art is emotion, an eternal human gesture: everything else is but a bizarre form of experimental communication.

Nader Afshari (Iran) I was born in grey Tabriz but a major part of my life was spent in Tehran. I am a painter and sculptor. And this was my father’s legacy that remained in me and gave my life direction . I’ve been working in this field for forty years. I learned painting on my own and through a lot of suffering. I entered this complicated and infinite arena with shaky steps and walked in forward in complete darkness. But it took many years to be able to start my own painting. I wasn’t like the other painters who were trained in this art. I discovered it on my own. Self-education in the arts is to learn from inside out. You enter a world were no one is in charge of training you. In this hard stage, “experience” is your only true guide. show the world that yo difficult stage “experience” is only true guide, because the experience is always intact, fluid and dynamic. The invisible guide who can guide and connect the new artist inside the new worlds. Like other artists, I’ve had various cycles, and always consider myself an experimental painter.

Gwang Mo Ku (Korea) I am Gwangmo Gu, a Western painting artist in Korea. I inquire again on the way for salvation considering the vanity of consciousness and objects and seeing the eternity. Boiling blue blood of suffering, tarnished shadow of time, or the silent time over the frontier... The image to quest for eternity, freedom, silence, and salvation is described in my painting by purifying the image kept in my heart that is seen as the pain, sadness,hope and sorrow through my time, experience, and life. The image will go into the unknown time and disappeared that we would finally find deeper gladness, tolerance, forgiveness, and love of this world by glaring the eternal life again in the vain time. The question what is intangible but certainly exists is the question where is all wind blowing from, and the confusion where do I have to go for, and the time of diverse agony, sadness, gladness, joy, love, tolerance and image. All of them are wind and exist only in the heart. Wind must go again and we should go along a new way. We can hardly grasp anything in the world and the words are also illusion.
The agony in the heart is purified like wind and water through time that I crossed the frontier to be clear like water after being tarnished... The true face of time, I finally thank after we cross over the vain truth and agony and vanity of life. In front of the present sent from the silence over the calmness I stroll in the forest of purification over the border of screen being blew with all wind of the world. How can we peacefully be accommodated before the time where the memory and recollection come across and show up? We should release the image of agony in our heart continuously to the forest of purification and bury them under the silence of windagain. My paintings are based on Eastern philosophy and include the confession of beauty of line like trace of life and the will to reach in the beautiful calmness of life over the vanity and sorrow showing faithful heart to other people.
Where are we being ended up around the silent river after all? Like the body of a white tree that is embodied with the bones exposed throughout the eternity of time. Pursuit for the truth by seeking and practicing in person, silent time and the paintings of its illusion, hope to encounter each other...

Kenryo Hara (Japan) The root of the Japanese characters “ Kanji ” are from ancient China. It has been said that when ancient people inquired the will of the Gods they would use “ Kanji ” to compose their reply. To understand these ancient people please consider the lifestyles they cultivated, for instance affections for their family, their values and their connection with to the communities, despite the cruelty they have endured fighting those adversaries who had plundered and persecuted them. To embrace “Kodai moji” as a creative practice is to know and understand how the ancient lived. It goes without saying, that I have adopted the life force of human being as my primary theme for my “ Kodai moji ”. I believe that it is essential to discover and understand these characters that have formed one of the bases for Japanese culture, in order to find myself. The intention of my “ Kodai moji ” drawings are to collaborate with the viewer by stirring sympathy for the content by the audience. By transferring “ my strength of life ” into the lines drawn in Sumi I hope that I can express my inner mind to my work. My goal is to touch lives of my viewers through my work. “Kodai” means ancient. “Moji” means character.

Light Painting World Alliance Light painting is an artistic photographic technique where light sources are manually applied by photographers to a single long exposure frame, usually in complete darkness. Long exposure photography has been around since the early days of daguerreotypes. Early artistic light painting photographs began to be created in the early 20th century by master artists Laszlo Moholy-Nagy, Man Ray and Picasso. Since those early days, light painting has evolved to become a genre that is growing in sophistication and popularity across the globe. Light painting photographs are often mistaken for being “photoshopped” due to the surreal and psychedelic effects that are created. While artists use a variety of light sources from simple flashlights, lasers and LED lights to ignited steel wool, electric wire and pyrotechnics to illuminate their photographic composition, they do not use post-processing software to enhance their photographs in any way. The Light Painting World Alliance (LPWA) is an international self-juried guild of established and emerging professional light painting photographers. Briefly, main Alliance’s goals are: 1) spread light painting art all over the globe to attract newbies to taste it or common public just to enjoy; 2) unite light painting artists into creative community for exchanging the skills, ideas, contacts or even support each other; 3) teach to our art, everywhere and any time it is possible. The Alliance is most biggest light painting community on the globe (more than 600 registered members from 63 countries). Artists data base is open for everyone, and you can easily find light painting artists in desired area. We are highly welcome to any kind of collaboration with photographers, art schools, entertainment companies, festivals etc. We do worldwide light painting exhibitions (6 since 2011), international special events (9), international meet-ups (7) and contests (3). La Nacional-Spanish Benevolent Society We are Spaniards, lovers of Spanish culture, New Yorkers. Inside a multi-functional brownstone at the crossroads of Greenwich Village, Chelsea, and the Meatpacking District, visitors discover the oldest cultural center in the city and a passion for Spain. With live events, classes, authentic cuisine, art, music, and more, our not-for-profit organization supports the expression and promotion of a culturally diverse Spain. The Society is a final remnant of the once-thriving enclave known as “Little Spain” and our members seek to reinvigorate “Pequeña España” for the eclectic audiences we serve today. Spaniards of all kinds, including tourists, artisans, professionals and many others have benefited from our corner of Spain. It has served as a meeting ground for political dissidents and revolutionaries, avant-garde poets and artists – among them the groundbreaking director Luis Buñuel and the modernist poet Federico García Lorca, who wrote sections of his famous anthology “Poet in New York” during his stay at the Society. Since our founding in 1868, the primary objective of the La Nacional is to “promote, encourage and spread the spirit of fraternity and solidarity among Spanish and HispanicAmerican residents of this country.” In those early years, we provided Spaniards with food, shelter, healthcare and afterlife services, while functioning as a home away from home. While the needs of our members have changed greatly since that time, the Spanish Benevolent Society still remains committed to assisting those who come from Spain to navigate the urban landscape of New York City. In the autumn of 1868, a small group of Spaniards gathered at the modest storefront at 151 Bowery Street in Manhattan to create the Centro Español- Spanish Benevolent Society. The founders, who came from different parts of Spain, wanted to establish a social center where all Spanish immigrants could find the support that they needed from compatriot residents in New York. Since then, other social clubs have surged with the growth of Spanish immigration, but only the Centro Español continues to promote the fraternity between all Spaniards in Manhattan.

Many Spanish immigrants disembarked in New York docks during the Nineteenth and Twentieth centuries. And the Society became the focal point for Spaniards who needed to find housing, employment and health care. Today, in spite of the decrease in Spanish immigration, the center continues to maintain the legacy of its founders by hosting art exhibits, folkloric dances, music concerts, book and film presentations, lectures, food and wine tastings, and other events that maintain the culture and history of Spain and its expatriates in New York. Located on 14th Street, between the Seventh and Eighth Avenues, the Centro is the last vestige of one the largest Spanish enclaves in New York that was affectionately referred to as Little Spain. This colony extended from Christopher Street to 23rd Street, along the Hudson River, and included more than 15,000 Spaniards, and their Spanish-American children and grandchildren. Restaurants like La Bilbaina, clothing stores like La Iberia, and Spanish importing shops like Casa Moneo supplied all the Spaniards of the city. The colony also included one of the oldest Spanish parishes in New York, known as Our Lady of Guadalupe, which cosponsored with the Centro a street festival in honor of the patron saint of Spain – St. James the Apostle. Today, the Centro Español continues to satisfy the nostalgia of all those Spaniards who maintain a strong connection with Spain, and it complements the cultural missions of other Spanish immigrant organizations like Círculo Español, and important cultural institutions like the King Juan Carlos I Center at New York University, the Instituto Cervantes, and the Consulate of Spain in New York. The center participates in important events like the Hispanic Pride Parade in October, and intends to re-establish cultural celebrations like the street festival for St. James the Apostle in New York. The Society not only brings together all Spaniards, but also other Spanish and English speakers who share the same enthusiasm and confraternity for Spain.

Alexandra Flórez Barrios Cada una de las obras son sentimientos plasmados donde en busca de palabras nacen bellos trazos. Manos danzando y colores mezclados, hacen una conexión entre el ser interior del autor y el lienzo, un gran esplendor. Son los trazos de sueños, son el sentir de un universo, son los palpitares de un corazón ardiente que desea contar historias que encuentra en los viajes nocturnos que su espíritu realiza mientras su cuerpo se encuentra inerte. Colores vivos proyectan su ser que permanece más allá del tiempo y evoluciona más allá del espacio, en la pintura encuentra un puente para comunicar lo que con palabras no puede expresar. Sus obras son el resultado de las experiencias y el modo de expresar sentimientos y emociones. Los mandalas son representaciones simbólicas espirituales, las formas concéntricas sugieren una idea de perfección y el perímetro del círculo evoca el eterno retorno de los ciclos de la naturaleza. Son utilizados para meditar, concentrar energía, equilibrar los desórdenes, producidos por diferentes factores que alteran y desestabilizan. Los abstractos son el juego conjunto de colores, lienzos, puntos de vista donde no hace falta un orden para encontrar un significado, es así como se pintan sentimientos, se pintan miradas y se siente en el alma lo que no se puede reflejar con palabras Trazos imperfectos, tonos claros y oscuros, caminos inciertos, encuentros inesperados, gente que va y viene y al final… Un millar de experiencias maravillosas que van llenando el espíritu y alimentando el alma. Algunas veces el corazón arde en llamas cual bosque incendiado, con tanto calor irradiado que nada lo puede controlar.

Diana Moya In thinking about me and my life in the arts, I can’t leave out migration. It has been my way of life for over 40 years. Educated in Arquitecture in Venezuela and Interior Design in the USA. Study the Fine Arts as an expatriate in Mexico, where my knowledge about the arts flourished. I started painting and exhibiting my work around the world since 1989. As a youngster I would sketch my sisters while watching cartoons on TV. I was regularly empowered to decorate the big board in my classroom. Specially if the nun head of my class, Sor Rosa, wanted to share my rendition of an Araguaney with the rest of the school. I’ve always been the “Artist in the Family” whatever that meant to them. For me, it is the fun and wonder of the experiment. An idea that becomes a reality from nothingness. Born in the 1950’s when Venezuela had the highest GDP in the world, enticing immigrants displaced by wars to come to our country and we shared our wealth. They came and went at their leasure, from all continents! They were welcomed, had their families and prospered. Those families went to school with us, worked with us, and party with us. We were “primos and compadres.”

Patxi Xabier Lezama Perier Patxi Xabier Lezama Perier es un artista escultor que nació en Zalla en 1967, (Municipio de la Comarca de Las Encartaciones), lugar donde vivió, estudió y trabajó. Un pueblo conocido por su cultura popular y sobre todo por su mitología en donde estuvieron muy extendidas las supersticiones en malignos seres sobrenaturales, hechiceros y la brujería, así a los naturales de Zalla se les llama por antonomasia Brujos. La matriz básica primigenia vibró en el fondo mismo de las entrañas más íntimas del artista, comenzando una larga y extensa búsqueda de transmitir y resolver, así como proporcionar semblante a este tipo de imaginario subversivo mundo subterráneo, asumiendo también con mayor o menor sutileza y rotundidad, unos sistemas de valores que van más allá de lo visual, desde una perspectiva histórica y cultural que busca constantemente en sus raíces las claves de su propia identidad. Una antiquísima mitología legado del pasado, que vive en el presente y que transmite a las generaciones futuras.
Mitología Vasca (Amalur) Amalur es el nombre que en euskera significa “Madre Tierra” o “Tierra Madre”. En las leyendas del pueblo vasco, la Tierra, Ama-Lurra, es la divinidad principal. La Tierra se nos muestra como habitáculo de todos los seres vivos, poseedora de fuerza vital propia que ha creado nuestro entorno natural. La Tierra es un enorme recipiente, un receptáculo ilimitado, donde viven las almas de los difuntos y la mayoría de los personajes mitológicos. La fe en Ama-Lurra es muy antigua en el pueblo vasco, anterior a la invasión de los pueblos indoeuropeos. Teluria es el culto Relativo a la Tierra, energías que surgen del interior de la tierra, provienen, circulan y emanan continuamente de la superficie terrestre y del subsuelo, estando muy relacionadas con las variaciones energéticas de la geomagnetosfera, la electro-conductividad del terreno y las influencias gravitomagnéticas del Sol y del resto del sistema planetario.

Luis Fores Luis Fores, 1960, es poeta, filósofo y antropólogo del arte. Desde sus primeros años de dedicación profesional al arte llevaría a cabo estudios teóricos y prácticos en la Escuela de Artes Imaginarias de Madrid (TAI), así como en la Facultad de Bellas Artes de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Durante cinco años -desde 1986 a 1990se dedicó a la investigación sobre el arte moderno y contemporáneo a fin de alcanzar el Doctorado en Filosofía del Arte por la misma universidad. Obtuvo asimismo en 1990 el Master en Estética y Teoría de las Artes por la Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. En 2007 consiguió la Licenciatura en los estudios de Antropología del Arte por la Universidad Complutense de la misma ciudad.

Ha realizado proyectos en el ámbito de la pintura, la fotografía y la performance, extendiendo su campo de acción al diseño e ilustración tanto de libros como de revistas. Compagina su sostenida labor creadora en diversos frentes con la escritura de poemarios, la teoría del arte y la enseñanza como profesor de filosofía. Mantiene publicados ensayos (artículos de investigación) sobre arte y filosofía, así como algunos libros de poemas y trabajos fotográficos tanto en revistas españolas como extranjeras. Parte de su obra se encuentra diseminada por colecciones privadas y particulares.

María Esther Flórez El arte es una manera de expresarme, es crear algo real o imaginario, me permite expresar sensaciones, sueños, anhelos. A través de mis obras lo que pretendo es comunicar algo, me permite expresar ideas. Soy una pintora polifacética, no me encasillo en un solo estilo. Me gusta experimentar con elementos externos y diferentes materiales, pueden ser formas significativas, puede ser abstracto. Cada obra es un momento de inspiración, representan una etapa de mi vida y en ellos quiero plasmar alguna emoción que sale de un pensamiento que está guardado en el subconsciente.

La libertad es la protagonista de mis cuadros, dejando para el análisis y la crítica la disolución de las formas llegando hasta la expresión espontánea abstracta. Experimentando con elementos naturales orgánicos y sus cambios químicos, buscando el retorno a lo esencial y primitivo. Plasmo la acción de la naturaleza integrándola y dejando-la actuar a la tela. Las manchas que se convierten en una interpretación modelando la foto hasta crear la base de la obra, partiendo de transparencias y superposiciones para dar profundidad, y utilizando líneas negras sinuosas para desvelar la forma de lo concreto.

Yanina De Martino Obra realizada utilizando diferentes tecnicas sobre una gran diversidad de telas, cueros, cartones y/o papeles. Con el uso de Tecnicas textiles aplicando plancha de termofusion, con diferentes texturadores logrando asi una gran variedad de relieves irregulares sobre las superficies.El color es logrado utilizando oleos, acrilicos, pigmentos y una gran variedad de tintas que mezclados entre si, pueden reflejar colores unicos e irrepetibles. Es una obra geometrica con diferentes cuadrados no perfectos en sus lados, adonde cada cuadrado nos esta invitando a poder ver una obra diferente a la otra. Inari M. Esta es la segunda obra de una coleción de 4 en las que se manifiesta la preocupación sobre el Cosmos y la Evolución del Ser Humano. Jorge Isaac Calderón Llantén Nacido en la ciudad de Popayán, Cauca (Colombia), hace medio siglo y un poquito más. Durante los estudios primarios ocuparía el primer puesto de Dibujo libre, concurso que realizaba anualmente la escuela, y quizás de ahí que más tarde se matriculase para estudiar en la facultad de Bellas artes de su ciudad. Maestro en Artes plásticas – énfasis Diseño gráfico por la Universidad del Cauca (Colombia) 1991, homologado al titulo de Licenciado en Bellas Artes – Sección Diseño gráfico (Barcelona) 1997. Realizó estudios de Doctorado en Bellas Artes en la Universidad de Barcelona, obteniendo el Certificado de Suficiencia Investigadora del programa “Les Revolucions Tipogràfiques” 1998. También ha realizado otros cursos de formación relacionados a la utilización del Arte y Diseño gráfico con las nuevas herramientas tecnológicas. Sus primeros trabajos profesionales fueron de Diseño gráfico (publicidad, imagen corporativa...), siendo cofundador de un pequeño taller de Arte-Diseño “Crear Comunicaciones.”, ubicado en la ciudad de Popayán. Como colaborador y miembro de asociaciones dedicadas al bien común y social, ha realizado algunos trabajos artísticos referentes a ello.

(La artista del dedo) Artista plástica y diseñadora multidisciplinar afincada en Barcelona, con formación en la Universidad de Buenos Aires, Argentina. Sus obras son realizadas bajo la técnica autodidacta de “Dáctilopintura”, pintadas con los dedos sin utilizar pinceles. Dichas obras de arte han recorrido diferentes lugares del mundo como Paris, Texas, Estocolmo, Londres, Madrid, Mónaco, Barcelona, Milán, Roma, Sofía o Buenos Aires entre muchos otros . Actualmente sigue su camino dinámico de exposiciones en diversos lugares, con muestras permanentes. Melik Diouri Benyelun Melik Diouri Benyelun nace en el seno de una familia de la burguesía marroquí de los años cincuenta. Su padre, un funcionario de la administración de Larache durante el protectorado español, tuvo que solicitar traslado a Nador, ciudad fronteriza con Melilla, tras la declaración de la independencia. Hombre estricto, y de carácter reservado, obligó a Melik a estudiar en Marruecos pero a tener amigos españoles en Melilla. Ciudad en la que residían. Melik de carácter retraído y un tanto melancólico, vivió una adolescencia gris. Toda su energía la reservaba para conseguir su sueño. Estudiar bellas artes en Paris. Tras diversos episodios de conflicto con su padre, decide independizarse y trabajar dando clases a niños marroquíes en Melilla, mientras terminaba sus estudios de bachillerato nocturno. Así pues, tras reunir dinero, viaja a Paris con interrail y se matricula en Vincenne. Su sueño parecía hacerse realidad. Compartió piso con Abdeslam Khamal, pintor y hoy profesor de la universidad de Marrakech, que le animo a conocer la pintura expresionista e impresionista. Al volver a Melilla para gestionar su traslado formal, conoce a la que fue su esposa y madre de sus tres hijos. Una relación que le obligó a tener una vida burguesa y anodina. Empezó su trayectoria profesional como inspector de riesgos industriales en la compañía Catalana Occidente. A los dos años, le ofrecieron la dirección de la sucursal de Marbella en otra entidad del sector perteneciente al grupo Torras. Pues se convirtió en poco más de un año en el tercer inspector del ranking a nivel nacional entre 120 inspectores. Metropolitan
life, a través de un “ head hunter “, le ofreció la dirección regional de Andalucía. Aceptó el cargo y se convirtió en poco más de un año, en el segundo regional después de Madrid. Por encima de Barcelona. Tras su recorrido en el sector seguros, se le ofreció la oportunidad de dirigir una compañía de telecomunicaciones noruega en Málaga. La convirtió en año y medio en la primera fuerza de ventas de Jazztel. Consiguiendo que el consejo de administración liderado por Leopoldo Pujals, le ofreciera una “ joint venture “ a cambio de su “know how “. Se negó. Hoy vive su ilusión primigenia: la creación artística. En realidad, todos sus éxitos profesionales fueron fruto de su creatividad. Así pues, está en edad de abstraer y quedarse con la esencia. Melik Diouri Benyelun, toma la decisión de conducir su carrera artística con rigor. Expone en la semana cultural francesa en Granada invitado por su mentor Yamal Din, escultor de reconocido talento y fundador de Fiarte, obteniendo buena crítica y mención especial del cónsul general de Francia. El mayor alago para él, fue decirle que tiene un trazo ingenuo. Después de exponer con éxito en Nueva York, Roma, Paris, Sofía y Moscú con la galería Goyart y Gorgonio Sanjuán, expone en Londres con Olimpia Gutiérrez. Su intención es exponer en solitario a partir de septiembre. Sus referentes en el mundo del arte son el impresionismo, el constructivismo, el dadaísmo y el expresionismo. Autor autodidacta y multidisciplinar, escribe poesía y califica su obra como poemas pintados .Como vocal de arte contemporáneo y diseño creativo de UNESCO Melilla, desarrolla un proyecto en colaboración con la galería internacional Goyart, para la inclusión de Melilla en el circuito internacional de turismo cultural. Una salón internacional de arte contemporáneo en sus distintas manifestaciones: Pintura, escultura, performance, fotografía, infografía, etc.

Pablo Gómez Pablo Santamaría Gómez nace en 1967 en Valladolid. De formación autodidacta, crea un estilo personal y diferenciador, en el que combina la tradición con innovación de técnicas y materiales de última generación, como látex, poliuretano, siliconas, fibras etc... Su estilo es abstracto o contemporáneo, lleno de simbolismos y significados en cada una de sus obras. El soporte material transmite una realidad atemporal, que va desde su mundo interior al exterior. El “don” de la creación hace de la obra de Pablo Gómez, una expresión continua de la “esencia” del ser humano, cuestionando en cada realidad, el tiempo y el espacio en sus creaciones. Compaginó su formación profesional , con la realidad de la vida, el día a día y su pasión por el arte, dibujando y creando continuamente empleando el arte “povera”, casi urbano, callejero.

María Pascual Maria Pascual vive la pintura con pasión y entrega. En ocasiones se centra en el retrato, en otras son los paisajes su elemento central, paisajes también urbanos conforman sus temas preferidos. La inocencia de sus trazos oculta en ocasiones la fuerza de la sensibilidad a flor de piel, de la capacidad de captar los instantes con la dulzura especial de una mirada limpia. Una obra que no deja indiferente, siempre sutil y delicada.
Patricia Aizcorbe Patricia Aizcorbe, artista plástica de raíces españolas e italianas. Vive en Buenos Aires, Argentina. Autodidacta, originalmente de profesión Psicóloga. Al incursionar en la pintura comenzó a trabajar con elementos de desecho, pero que por las caracteristicas de cada uno de ellos, pudieran representar temas relacionados con la comunicación y el vínculo entre las personas, gran problemática de este siglo. Desde la forma en que se vive, se relacionan y pueden tener o no la capacidad de aceptación del otro. Por ello, el mix de técnicas y materiales que utiliza, desde el acrílico, resina, metal, telas, elementos de computación.

Ana Beltrán Porcar Pintura en moviment i pintant al ritme Paintings with movement and painting amb bon compàs with rhythm Ana Beltrán és una artista de l’Alcora (Espanya). La producció de Beltrán se centra en l’àmbit pictòric, complementant-lo amb instal•lacions i performances. El seu treball interdisciplinari s’ha vist a diferents ciutats del món durant els últims anys.
Ana Beltrán is a Spanish artist from l’Alcora. Her artistic production is focused on painting enriched with installation art and performances. Beltrán’s interdisciplinary production has been shown in different International spaces during the last years.
A títol individual, ha exposat sèries com “Anhel d´enyorança” (Sala Melchor Zapata, Benicàssim), “Símbolos de Mujer” (Castell del Papa Luna, Peníscola; Sala Camarón, Sogorb; Espaciu Astragal, Gijón…); “Anamnesis” (Mexicali, Mèxic), així com altres propostes a Girona, Godella, Alacant i a països com Eslovènia, Itàlia i Mèxic.
Individually, her proposals have been shown in different spaces like “Anhel d´enyorança” (CC Melchor Zapata, Benicásim), “Símbolos de Mujer” (Papa Luna Castle, Penyíscola; Camarón Art Space, Segorbe; Espaciu Astragal, Gijón…); “Anamnesis” (Mexicali, Mèxic), and so like other proposals exposed in Girona, Godella, Alicante or countries as Slovenia, Italy and Mexico.
Beltrán també té una llista de projectes col•laboratius dels quals es poden destacar les seves propostes amb Somtresons+A, el grup amb qui treballa des de 2012 realitzant projectes musico-pictòrics entre els que devem ressaltar “Veu la Música, Sent el Color” presentat a l’Alcora i produït en espais com el Castell Posavje a Brežice; l´auditori i la Sala Alfons el Magnànim, entre altres. També realitza propostes internacionals multidisciplinaris com “Hits of Colour” amb Marko Soršak “Soki”; treballs de disseny i gestió a Eslovènia (MC Brežice) reflexions sobre viatges com “A fast interpretation” (Seül, Corea), d’animaciò a Mèxic (CEPA, Mexicali) o diferents residències artístiques per Europa.

Somtresons+A is one of the groups she Works with from 2012 and their musicalpainting proposals, among which she highlights “Veu la Música, Sent el Color”, have been shown in spaces like Posavje Castle, Brezice; the auditorium and Alfons El Magnànim space in Valencia; Casa de la Música, L’Alcora, and others. Beltrán also has International multidisciplinary proposals as “Hits of Colour” with Marko Sorsak “Soki”; different design and cultural Management (Slovenia); trip drawing reviews like “A Fast interpretation”, (Seoul, Korea); animation Works (CEPA, Mexicali) or different artist residencies in Europe.
L’obra d’Ana se centra actualment amb la representació de l’ésser humà des del punt de vista d´un retrat social que ressalta la figura de la dona com a subjecte actiu en la seva autodeterminació. La seva tècnica tracta la pintura a l’oli amb una subtilesa que permet veure el procés pictòric i destacar la força del dibuix. El ritme après de les realitzacions pictòriques en directe també es veu reflectit a la seva estètica dinàmica, clara i subtil. Actualment, compagina la seua producció pictòrica amb l’ampliació d’estudis amb un màster en animació, a més segueix amb l’activitat expositiva i performativa per diferents ciutats espanyoles.
Nowadays, Ana’s work is focused on the human representation of a social portrait point of view, she foregrounds woman’s figure as an active subject in her self-determination processes. Her techniques are based oil painting treated with subtle gestures that allows the public to see the pictorial process and to show the strength of the drawing. The rhythm in these pieces and the aesthetics and dynamics are shown with clarity and finesse. Currently, Beltrán combines her pictorial production with extensión of studies and techniques doing a masters degree in animation, and she also keeps on exhibition and performance activities in different Spanish cities.

Carmen Boixadós Carmen Boixadós inició su trayectoria en 1987, en la Agencia EFE en Madrid, incorporándose en Barcelona en diversos reportajes de aquellas zonas y áreas de la Barcelona preolímpica que paulatinamente iban desapareciendo o bien transformando radicalmente su imagen en la que captaría momentos sumamente significativos de los Juegos Olímpicos de 1992. Quizá por este motivo, la fotografía era meramente informativa. Un valiosísimo testimonio gráfico de una época de muchos cambios que, sin duda alguna, marcó un antes y un después en su vida, en su forma de ser y en la Ciudad Condal, asimismo, en la trayectoria de la artista. Aproximadamente en el 2000, iniciará lo que podemos considerar su segunda etapa, durante la cual empezará a experimentar con la fotografía. “La imagen que años antes definía como informativa pasara a convertirse en obras de arte únicas, al unir imagen fotografía con distintos materiales y
técnicas, al provocar detalles perceptibles en una mirada rápida, como la fotografía de un barco navegando hacia Salvador. Dalí, la cruz de Santiago en un valle totalmente abierto, la belleza de una ventana abierta con la textura de cemento, la pasión de una ola estrellándose contra una piedra en su recorrido por el rio.” En estos momentos, inicia su exposición “”La danza del fuego” donde se contrapone el dolor de lo quemado, de lo perdido con la belleza de las propias llamas cuando inician su camino, provocando una serie de sentimientos donde no se deja de pensar en cuidar el entorno. La mezcla de fotografía con materiales con relieve, hace que el publico que observa las obras, dude si son pinturas o fotografías, fáciles de exponer en cualquier lugar. La artista no pierde de vista su objetivo; Reivindicar la fotografía como arte.

Jon Arriaga Jon Arriaga, Madrid 1963. Autodidacta en escultura y pintura. Su trabajo se desarrolla entre el cubismo y el constructivismo, mezclando escultura y pintura en sus obras, con esculturas pintadas y cuadros con relieves. El resultado es una forma de expresiĂłn artĂstica original y dotada de mucha fuerza.
