The Fayetteville Dogwood Festival organization is a volunteer-based nonprofit committed to providing free events for the community year-round. In addition to their signature spring event, they also produce Cork & Fork, a premier food and wine event, Fall Dogwood Festival, complete with craft beer and food trucks, and the Fayetteville After 5 summer concert series. The Fayetteville Dogwood Festival was recently named “#1 Event in the Southeast” by Southeast Festivals and Events Association.

The annual Dogwood Fall Festival is a day full of fall activities including hayrides, a food truck rodeo, craft beers, free concerts, kids activities and more!

Fayetteville Dogwood Festival April 25 - 28, 2019 • Free Admission The annual Fayetteville Dogwood Festival is Fayetteville’s biggest party! Head to Festival Park and Downtown Fayetteville the fourth weekend in April for four days of free concerts, food, a street fair, anchored attractions, art exhibits, street performances and more! Featuring: • Cork & Fork – premier food and wine event in Festival Park on Thursday • Boom & Bloom – a long-standing tradition, the Friday night kick-off party is complete with a marching band performance and fireworks finale • Street Fair – beginning Saturday, April 27, more than 150 arts & crafts and food vendors, as well as street performances and fun activities for the whole family, line the streets of Downtown Fayetteville • Kids Activities – more than ever for kids, including the midway carnival, a designated kids area with bounce houses and train rides, and an area with rock climbing and bungee jumping • FREE entertainment – free concerts in a wide variety of genres all weekend (past performances featured artists ranging from Parmalee and Rob Base to Tom Keifer and JoJo)

Cape Fear Botanical Garden

Showcasing the natural beauty of our region, this 80-acre garden is an extremely popular attraction with gardens, facilities and programs of exceptional quality. Embrace the outdoors while enjoying the Garden’s winter beauty and creating a cherished holiday memory with family and friends. Attractions and festivities include a synchronized show of lights and music over the Cypress Pond, a mile-long stroll featuring thousands of lights aglow, photos with Santa (when he’s not at the North Pole), roasting S’mores over the fire pit, entertainment on select evenings, and free crafts for children. The Garden Gift Shop will be open each evening with a wonderful holiday selection.

Schedule 15th Annual Heritage Festival October 6, 2018 Celebrate autumn with a fun-filled day of history in the Heritage Garden Complex, made up of a Farm House, General Store, Tobacco Barn and Corn Crib. Take a tour, learn how to churn butter, shell corn and have some good ol’ fashioned fun. Children’s activities include pony rides, pumpkin painting, crafts and more!

National Public Gardens Day, May 10, 2019 Spring Plant Sale, May 10 - 12, 2019 Celebrate Mother’s Day weekend with a visit to the Garden. Stroll around and be inspired by the flower beds, then stop by the Plant Sale for a selection of native plants, perennials, baskets and pots of colorful mixed annual plantings – all beautiful gifts for Mother’s Day – or to add a splash of color to your garden, porch or patio!

Carved jack-o’-lanterns, lights and luminaria glow and light the pathways of the Garden in celebration of Halloween. Entertainment, crafts and treats add to the indoor and outdoor evening festivities. New for 2018 is a Hogwarts theme that includes an adults-only evening. Cape Fear Regional Botanical Theatre Garden

The 17th Annual Blues-N-Brews Festival June 1, 2019 The 17th Annual Blues-N-Brews Festival lands in Festival Park on June 1, 2019! This fundraiser is a favorite kick-off of the North Carolina summer season, and all proceeds support Cape Fear Regional Theatre.

Trumbo March 6 - 17, 2019 The words of two-time Academy Award winning screenwriter (Roman Holiday and The Brave One) and novelist Dalton Trumbo come to life in a sharply humorous staged memoir. Told through letters collected by his son, Christopher, this irreverent and impish play brings a fresh and contemporary commentary on themes of fatherhood, truth, and integrity.

The Cake April 4 - 21, 2019 Faith and family collide when a North Carolina baker takes on her biggest challenge yet: what does she believe? When her best friend’s daughter returns to town with a special order, Della finds herself questioning her beliefs. Cape Fear Studios

Cape Fear Studios, Inc. (CFS), a cooperative of visual artists, is a nonprofit arts organization located in historic downtown Fayetteville. Their mission is to involve, educate, and enrich Cumberland County and surrounding communities with the opportunity to create and freely view art. They welcome visitors to their main gallery and retail gallery to find beautiful paintings, photographs, sculptures, pottery, wood and glass art, and fine jewelry by local, national, and international artists. Exhibits are presented at no cost to the public, and educational opportunities are offered to the community through workshops, classes and mentoring.

The 14th annual Public Works exhibition of art by the people, for the people! Anyone can enter – from children to seasoned artists working in a variety of mediums.

Exhibitions at The Arts Center Contemporary Art Forms By America’s First People II August 24 - October 20, 2018

The exhibition celebrates the works of contemporary American Indian artists in North Carolina and beyond. This amazing work includes wearable art from local and nationally known artists.

Touchstone: Images of Service October 26, 2018 - mid-January, 2019

This photography exhibition and competition is based on the touchstone words – Commitment, Sacrifice, Courage, Service, Dedication, Strength, Heroism – found on the public art walls of North Carolina Veterans Park. The exhibit coincides with the North Carolina Digital Heritage Center’s online exhibition of the contributions and stories of 100 veterans and 400 community supporters statewide, whose hands served as models for the Wall of Oath and community columns in the North Carolina Veterans Park.

Reclaimed! Presented by the Arts Council with the City of Fayetteville’s Environmental Services Department June 28 - August 17, 2019 What better way to promote recycling than an exhibition of works created from reclaimed materials.

Make It, Take It! Second Saturday of each month • 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Children can express their creativity – and have fun – with a special craft activity each month. Free with paid Museum admission or membership.

Fayetteville Area Transportation and Local History Museum

There’s something for everyone – from history enthusiasts to families looking for fun – at this unique museum, housed in a restored 1890 railroad depot. Local history exhibits highlight people, events and places that impacted this area. To transport you back in time, there’s the model train room, vintage cars and interactive steamboat exhibit. The Museum also hosts a downtown farmers market.

F A Y E T T E V I L L E New Exhibits Fort Bragg Centennial

Visit the Market House Museum

Opening August 21, 2018*

The Market House, which is Cumberland County’s only National Historic Landmark, is open to the public during Fayetteville’s 4th Friday celebrations, from 6 to 10 p.m., and the second Friday of the month from noon to 4 p.m. Explore the exhibit A View from the Square: A History of Downtown Fayetteville, which features dozens of historic images and information about the community. In addition to the permanent exhibit, a different local history exhibit each month.

Marking the 100th Anniversary of the establishment of Camp Bragg in September 1918, the Centennial exhibit traces this military training camp from its founding through World War II. Artifacts and photographs depict the remarkable growth of what would become our nation’s largest military training center during World War II, highlighting its impact on the Fayetteville community.

Fayetteville Fire Department Opening Fall 2018* This newly expanded exhibit in the Museum Annex is devoted to the history of the Fayetteville Fire Department. Learn how the all-volunteer force established in 1791 has grown into a team of proud, professional first responders who help keep Fayetteville safe. The exhibit features numerous artifacts, including two restored Fayetteville Fire Department vehicles, an 1880s Silsby horse-drawn pumper, and a 1920s LaFrance fire truck.

African American Businesses in Fayetteville February 2019 - January 2020 This new exhibit highlights the community’s African American history. From its early days, Fayetteville had a small but substantial free Black population, many of whom were engaged in business throughout the Downtown area. The exhibit traces a number of prominent and prosperous African American business men and women from the antebellum period through the mid-Twentieth Century. *The main portion of these exhibits will become permanent at the Museum.

Special Events City Market at the Museum Downtown comes to life with the open-air market for local farmers and crafters, hosted on the grounds of the Museum every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Fresh, locally grown vegetables, fruits, eggs, honey, and other farm products are offered for sale. Visitors can purchase these seasonal offerings – along with plants, flowers, pottery, tea, coffee, soap, candles, jewelry, and other handcrafted products. Peak season is April through November, but vendors appear year-round.

Royal Court of Brandenburg Thursday, November 15, 2018 • 7:30 p.m. St. John’s Episcopal Church Revel in the balanced beauty of the Baroque in a program of beloved masterpieces by J.S. Bach and Antonio Vivaldi. Bach’s six Brandenburg Concertos were a royal gift to the court of Brandenburg in 1721; they have remained some of the greatest and most beloved compositions of the Baroque era. FSO musicians and Music Director Stefan Sanders perform the third and fourth Brandenburg Concertos, along with portions of Bach’s Orchestral Suite No. 2 in B Minor. Also on the program is the bright and lively Concerto for Two Trumpets by Antonio Vivaldi. Southeastern North Carolina Regional History Festival of Yesteryear Experience the history of this region with exhibits that range from Native Americans to an early 20th century general store. Kids’ activities include Backpack Buddies, History Ranger activity sheet and Teaching Corners.

1897 Poe House

Tour the home of an affluent Fayetteville family and learn about life in the early 20th century, including the roles of women and children, African American history, and technological and social changes that shaped the era.

Arsenal Park One of five arsenals commissioned by the U.S. government to expand defenses after the War of 1812, the Fayetteville arsenal became the property of the new Confederate States of America during the Civil War. It was destroyed in 1865 by Union troops under the command of General Sherman, but visitors today can explore the remaining historic ruins.

Saturday, September 8, 2018 • 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. The event focuses on the Colonial and Revolutionary War periods, with re-enactors, music and hands-on activities that depict daily life of the late 18th century.

Treasures of Carolina: Stories from the State Archives January 12 - March 31, 2019 One-of-a-kind documents, photographs and other media rarely on public view.

Collecting Carolina: Montagnards, Vietnam’s Central Highlanders Spring/Summer 2019 Artifacts, collected by a Vietnam veteran, depicting the traditional culture of this indigenous ethnic minority, whose tribes became close allies of American soldiers during the Vietnam War. On loan from the North Carolina Museum of History.
