Father-in-law faces jail and deportation to India The father of a woman convicted of manslaughter for stabbing her pregnant sister-in-law in the neck has finally acknowledged his role in covering up the crime for years. Kulwant Litt, 67, pleaded guilty to accessory after the fact to manslaughter on Tuesday, admitting that he helped dispose of the body of his daughter-in-law Poonam Litt and lied repeatedly to the police and court about what really happened to Poonam. US releases Diwali stamp A Diwali stamp was launched here by the US postal service, capping seven-yearlong efforts by IndianAmericans and influential American lawmakers to commemorate the festival of lights. HOME INSPECTION PROGRAM The first significant storm of the fall season has hit B.C.’s South Coast, with rain and strong winds causing widespread power outages on Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast. Over 50,000 customers are without power as of 10:45 p.m. PT, with much of Campbell River, Powell River and Qualicum Beach and North Saanich in the dark. All of Denman and Hornby Islands are without electricity as well, and there are smaller outages throughout Metro Vancouver and many other communities.
