Richard Alston Dance Company
National Dance Company Wales
Acclaimed choreographer Richard Alston brings a powerful programme of dance.
National Dance Company Wales is an awardwinning company that create shows with some of the most celebrated international choreographers alongside creations by the hottest new talent from Wales. Don’t miss this double bill of evocative new dance.
Chacony is inspired by Purcell’s Chanconne and Britten’s String Quartet No. 2, and reaches into dark places before reaffirming hope for humanity. An Italian in Madrid, inspired by the Spanish guitar influenced sonatas of Domenico Scarlatti (played live onstage), fuses different styles and features BBC Young Dancer Vidya Patel. Choreographer Martin Lawrance’s dramatic and intense Stronghold is performed to Julia Wolfe’s richly resonant score.
In Roy Assaf’s Profundis, thoughtful movement is accompanied by whimsical wordplay and an exotic soundtrack. Caroline Finn takes us on a nostalgic journey in her new work, The Green House. On this twisted TV set, characters discover the very fine line between fantasy and reality.

Our current work: Justice in a Day and Connor's Time: two awardwinning projects showing the consequences of crime to over 1,200 secondary school students, and by special invitation extending their reach to Cardiff. Sky's the Limit and Bright Sparks in Flintshire and Wrexham Primary Schools, teaching Entrepreneurship and Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) in both English and Welsh.
Consent in Flintshire Secondary Schools using the arts to instil an understanding of consent, creating healthy, confident individuals who form positive relationships based upon trust and mutual respect. TheatrClwyd@Elfed is a project that will bring the work of Theatr Clwyd into Ysgol Elfed High School. We are on our third year working on our exciting Start Hospices Project with Children & The Arts with Tŷ Gobaith and Hope House.
