We are the ticket that will continue propelling the SGA to excellence and for YOU to be closer to it. We are bonded by the common goal of unity, helping other students, and offering new opportunities to improve YOUR student experience. What makes us unique is the different background we have impacting the student body either through SGA, SHPE, or other resources we have
available. This past year has been transformational for the SGA, and our goal is to continue positively impacting the student body through the expansion of our services, projects, events, and accountability. Every student pays the SGA fee expecting top quality services and decisions, and we ensure that we will continue improving these values for YOU and for YOUR student experience.
ANDER TURUENO GARCIA
YEAR: Graduate
MAJOR: Aviation Finance
HOMETOWN: Mexico City, Mexico My legacy in SGA began as YOUR Senator for the College of Aviation, Vice President, and most importantly this current term SGA President. In my previous years at Embry-Riddle, I have driven significant change and positive impact to the student body. I previously served as the President of the ALPA ACE Club, President of the Flight Professional Conduct Board, and Co-Chair of the COA’s Dean’s Student Advisory Board, anchor of the “Well & Beyond” Series, among others. I believe that uplifting students creates opportunities that enhance YOUR experience. Over the past year, I have dedicated myself to being present and engaging with students at Orientation, Homecoming Concert, RSO meetings, and strengthening our social media presence. My commitment has always been to YOU, ensuring a better, more connected student experience, for YOUR benefit.
VICE PRESIDENT
GIOVANNI ZAYAS
YEAR: Graduate
MAJOR: Aviation Finance
HOMETOWN: Mexico City, Mexico
Since coming to Embry-Riddle, I have been pursuing my dream of becoming an Aerospace Engineer. Along the way, I have learned that being a leader is more than just making decisions, it’s about uplifting those around me and ensuring that every voice and concern is heard. As President of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, “familia” has been a key factor in everything I do, as I aim to foster a community where we build each other up. As SGA Vice President, I want to bring this same dedication to the entire student body. I aim to enhance campus and student life through projects reflecting the wants and needs of the student body, building a campus where all students feel valued, supported, and empowered to achieve their dreams. As YOUR SGA Vice President, we can make that goal become a reality.
As your SGA Candidates, our mission is to create a campus where every student is not just heard but valued. We will work on improving student everyday life by addressing key issues like student organization funding, campus events and improving the quality of dining options. We will make sure that all students have
ample opportunities to give feedback and get involved in SGA decisions. By fostering open communication and creating accessible channels for every student to input. We will make sure YOUR concerns lead to real change. Together, we can make our campus a place where every voice truly matters. I need your voice to make change.

With experience as a manager for the Unreel Media film club, a broadcaster for The Avion, and two years as high school president, I know how to lead, advocate, and get things done. My leadership style is solution-focused and collaborative - I don’t just listen to student concerns, I work to fix them. Your voice matters, and as SGA President, I’ll make sure you’re more than heardyou’re valued. Let’s make this campus better, together!

Whether it’s getting more support for student organizations, improving campus resources, or just making it easier for you to share your thoughts and actually see changes happen - I’m here for it. A little about me: I spent four years in JROTC as a first sergeant, I’m part of the Astronomy Research Club, and I’ve even worked on fixing light pollution issues on campus (pretty cool, right?). I love problem-solving and working with people, and I want to make sure every student feels heard and valued. If you’ve got ideas, concerns, or just want to chat - let’s talk!

Being from a family with no background in aviation, it was a pretty bold move on my part to take part in this everlasting journey of aviation. Just like me, are my peers in the COA, bold. They need a voice; I am here to amplify their voice. My service to the College of Aviation started with working as a Camp Counselor for the Summer Camps, mentoring and tutoring high schoolers into getting their Private Pilot Certificates and Instrument Ratings. With experience in many mentoring and legislative divisions of the COA — like FLAP, and FPCB, I have worked closely with students and faculty to enhance flight operations and safety. My mission is to bring transparency, improve campus services, and represent ALL COA majors — pilots, ATC, Meteorology, you name it! So, dear COA students, your vote matters, this vote is your voice, this is your COA.

I was born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware. Growing up, my dad taught me the importance of seven moral virtues: Empathy, Conscience, Self-Control, Respect, Kindness, Tolerance, and Fairness. These come from the book, “Building Moral Intelligence: The Seven Essential Virtues That Teach Kids to Do the Right Thing” by Michelle Borba. Growing up learning these virtues from my dad molded me into a person that tries to treat everyone with these virtues. Though, I am still human and will make mistakes. I live knowing that nobody’s perfect and we will all mess up in one way or another. I hope this gives an idea of why I’m running. I’m running to help those who need it. My passion for engineering began with watching rocket launches from Wallops Island, just 90 minutes from my home. That fascination led me to Embry-Riddle, where I am now turning that passion into reality. However, my journey has also been shaped by leadership and a drive to create success. In high school, I transformed multiple clubs into thriving organizations, including one that became the most successful in school history by competition win rate. I also created and hosted the most successful fundraiser the school had ever seen, a spin on the Price Is Right. As a Delaware DECA State Officer, I led statewide conferences and represented Delaware before 24,000 people at the International Career Development Conference. Now, I want to bring that same leadership and vision to ERAU, helping engineers develop the confidence to lead, innovate, and communicate by combining proven business skills with a deep passion for engineering.

SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS
Dear Eagles,
The Student Government Association (SGA) election campaign season is underway, and soon, you’ll have the opportunity to vote for the students who will represent you over the next year. While elections may not always seem like a big deal, the SGA plays a role in decisions that impact student life in ways you might not always notice – funding for student organizations, academic resources, campus policies, and more. The people you elect will have a direct impact on these areas, which is why taking a few minutes to learn and vote matters.
One of the best ways to do that is by attending the Executive Ticket and Treasurer Debate on March 25th at 6:30 p.m. in the Student Union Event Center. This is your chance to hear directly from those running for the highest positions in student government, understand their priorities, and see how they respond to questions that affect our campus community. Whether you have specific concerns or just want to make an informed decision, the debate is an opportunity to see who might be the best fit for these roles.
The SGA’s work often happens behind the scenes, but you may know it’s more public facing side, such as the divisions or the shuttle service. Furthermore, its influence is felt in areas that shape student life every day. The leaders chosen in this election will also be the ones advocating on behalf of students when working with university administration. Making an informed decision about who holds these positions ensures that student voices are represented in the conversations that matter.
As the Supervisor of Elections, my role is to ensure a fair, transparent, and accessible election process. Voting will take place from March 31 to April 2, and I encourage you to take a few moments to make a choice that reflects what you want to see from the SGA. If you have any questions or want to learn more, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at dbsgasoe@erau.edu!
