“Since I arrived at Embry-Riddle, I’ve been actively involved in campus life, particularly within the international community. I’m proud to have served as an international ambassador and event coordinator for the International Students Organization, where I had the opportunity to collaborate with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
I truly enjoy working with others and believe that the best outcomes are achieved through teamwork. In my experience, collaborating with others leads to better ideas and, ultimately, more successful projects. I believe this approach can also be applied to improving the College of Engineering.
I’m running for Student Senator because I’m passionate about fostering a tight-knit community among engineering students. I believe that having a strong sense of community is key to students’ satisfaction and success in college.
As a Senator, I’m committed to bringing students together, creating meaningful interactions and engagement opportunities, and promoting a more inclusive campus environment.
I’m excited about working with my fellow students to create positive change on campus and enhance the overall student experience.”

“I believe that being international is a sacrifice and not a privilege, and I am dedicated to increasing the quality of life of international students.
My name is Serena, and I am a first-semester sophomore, the current secretary for the African Students Association, and a member of I.S.O., F.B.L.A., B.S.A. and N.S.B.E. I am multilingual, a pianist, and maybe an expert at Sudoku.
I want to serve you as an International Student Senator because I know so much more can be done for international students, such as addressing our career needs, by having more inclusive hir- ing companies at career fairs, dedicated career services advisors for internationals, creating a professional club for internationals students with resources and contact with international alumni.
Our social needs must also be supported, by allocating funds and offering support to our events: Diwali, Coming2Africa, International Education Week, etc. and bringing more diverse artists, event hosts, and celebrations to the campus.
If I get this position, I hope to be a voice for the international community and serve the international student body.”

“My name is Hassan Alsmery. I am a junior in Aerospace Engineering.
In my second year, I joined the climbing program focused on sustainability innovation for sophomore students. That was my first step to developing key skills connected to professional communication and community engagement. After that, I became the social relations representative in the Saudi Student Association, where I got to understand international students’ experiences on campus deeply.
I am also honored to become part of the International Student Services office as an International Ambassador, where I got the chance to connect with many international students.
I think there are lots of chances around us, but few international students are aware of the ones they can take advantage of on campus, or the options don’t mesh with their cultural backgrounds.
I want to build a setting where international students feel welcome and at ease participating in activities that could help them advance their social and professional abilities.”
