WHAT’S THE BUZZ? SUMMER AT BARSTOW IS BACK!
Welcome to another season of adventure at Kansas City’s most popular summer program for children ages 3 to 13! Summer at Barstow is the best place for campers to explore their interests — and let their imaginations take flight!
Here’s why: Our fun and experienced team spends all year planning Summer at Barstow, and we love it just as much as your kids do! Our goal is to immerse each camper in a dynamic environment that encourages active learning and keeps them busy as bees.
With hundreds of offerings, every child can get active, try the latest trends or discover something totally new. We offer infinite fun on our campus, and new this year, we’re hosting STEAM camps at the Dan & Cassidy Towriss IDEA Space — Barstow’s innovative learning center for science, technology, engineering, arts and math. Long-time favorites and exciting new camps will be offered at IDEA Space, less than a mile south of Barstow at 12200 State Line Road in Leawood, Kansas.
So what will make this your child’s best summer adventure ever? The answers are packed into these pages. Dive in and discover why campers swarm to us year after year — then make a beeline to Summer at Barstow. We can’t wait to see you!

BEE INFORMED: IDEA SPACE FAQ
If my student attends a morning camp at IDEA Space, where do I drop off?
Students can be dropped off at IDEA Space, 12200 State Line Road, Leawood, beginning at 8:45 a.m. Park and walk your student into the building, where they will be met by one of our friendly staff members. If your child attends a.m. extended care at Barstow, they will take school transportation to IDEA Space for their morning camps session.
Who supervises camps at IDEA Space?
The same great staff the supervises Summer at Barstow! After all, IDEA Space camps are an extension of our perennially popular program. Summer at Barstow teachers and TAs will be joined by professionals-in-residence, who will lend their career expertise and experience to STEAM learning.
What if my child chooses a morning camp at Barstow and an afternoon camp at IDEA Space (or vice versa)? We transport students between campus and IDEA Space on our school bus or shuttles, driven by experienced, licensed drivers.
What about afternoon pickup for IDEA Space campers? Please pick up your camper no later than 3:45 p.m. Park and meet your child in the IDEA Space lobby. Children who have not been picked up by 3:45 p.m. will be transported back to Barstow to attend p.m. extended care.
