THE TREND REPORT SS 2018 EDITION
The thaw of winter into spring always brings a few of the same feelings: the relief of peeling off layers, the stowing away of clunky boots until next snow and most of all, the excitement to dive in to all the style options warm weather brings. For spring 2018, after an extra-long winter the fashion conscious populace can rejoice more than usual – the trends of the season are ones to

TOM FORD
The glamorous push and pull look of ruching offers a fresh take on a classic look. Popular in dresses and in tops especially, ruching offers an ultra-flattering, curve-hugging look for the spring. In a pastel color and paired with a skinny jean and sandal, a ruched look offers an appropriate, classy look for any event the spring may bring.
LAVENDER Moving from Easter eggs to the runways of Victoria Beckham, Erdem and Michael Kors, a light lavender is proving to be the it-color of spring. It has already made a presence in knits, tops, suiting, dresses, makeup looks and more. Due to its soft, whimsical hue, lavender is complimentary on any skin tone at any age and one of the easiest trends to work into your wardrobe this spring.
VICTORIA BECKHAM
POLKA DOTS Florals for spring? Groundbreaking. Yet the pattern of polka dots offers a fresher and less expected print for the warmer coming months. For those interested in a more subtle exploration of the pattern, a monochromatic dotted look on a more conservative piece seen on runways like Rodarte offer an easy segway into a fresh pattern. For the bolder, embracing colorful dots on white or color on color on accent pieces in a look is sure to draw the eye.
CAROLINA HERRERA
STYLE GUIDES FANNY PACKS The constant resurgence of 90s trends seems to be in no way dissipating. Despite being most popular in the festival circuit, the fanny pack’s appearance on runways like Gucci prove that it is truly a fashionable option and not just for the average concert goer. Though it may appeal in general to a younger crowd, it still remains a viable, functional option to all especially in a more neutral tone.
GUCCI
90s SUNGLASSES The skinny, geometric style of sunglasses typically in bright, bold colors is known as the X-Girl sunglass. Again on the festival circuit and a product of the resurgence of the 90s trends, said sunglasses elevate any look to one that embraces the boldness of streetwear. The razor sharp edges result in a razor sharp look if paired with pieces that also reflect the 90s vibes – a look with an X-Girl sunglass is for the fearless of the spring trend setters. PRADA
SHEER Though sheer pieces have not always been known for their modesty, this spring is all about accessibility. The increased popularity of sheer paneling presents a more conservative options for those not prepared to deal with a full-on sheer top. Both are viable options for the spring go-getters. It also doesn’t hurt that embracing a sheer style with a lighter fabric will likely help one to keep cool in the hot summer months again.
FENDI
CONCLUSION So as the warmer months draw near, the trends as well are heating up, but not overwhelming so. This season is about accessibility – whether you’re interested in keeping your style cool and classic or are ready to turn up the heat, there’s an option to be on trend for you this spring and summer! FAROE
ISLANDS By Joe Masucci & Ken Workings

W
e can easily feel overwhelmed by the fast pace environment of modern times. However, in the northern Atlantic exists a place where you can leave everything behind and experience true volcanic islands situated between Iceland, Scotland, and Norway. Recently, Joe Masucci and Ken Workings, global explorers and adventure enthusiasts, visited the Faroes in search of a uniquely different travel experience. Joe and Ken were enamored with the picturesque, unspoiled landscapes consisting of lush green peaks, sharp dramatic cliffs, winding fjords, and abundance of waterfalls. Exploring the islands at your own pace is easy and stress free as you can get to most places via car, bus, ferry, and the rather inexpensive helicopter flights operated daily throughout most of the islands.

TRAVEL GUIDES 4
Pictures Key 1. The village of Gasadalur 2. A Faroese house 3. Cliff on the island of Kalsoy 4. Puffins on the island of Mykines 5. Boats in Torshavn, the capital of the Faroe Islands 6. Lake Leitisvatn on the cliffs along the north Atlantic Ocean
No matter the mode of travel, the views make the journey a memorable part of the adventure. The Faroese locals are warm and inviting people who live simple but rich lives in their traditional grass-roofed homes that look like something out of the Lord of the Rings. In addition to the people, the wildlife on the islands is unique and interesting. Whether on a rolling pasture or a steep cliff overlooking the deep blue ocean, you are likely to encounter sheep, seals, whales, and plenty of birds such as oyster catchers, arctic terns, and gannets. If you visit in the summer, when it is light outside for 20+ hours of the day, you can even get up close to adorable bright-beaked Atlantic Puffins! On the Faroese island of Mykines (pronounced “Me-chin-ess”) you can wander freely through a colony of tens of thousands of puffins and observe their interesting social interactions from just a few feet away or watch them return from the deep ocean with a beak full of fish to feed their pufflings. Visiting the Faroe Islands will allow you to escape into a world like no other and will truly deliver an experience of a lifetime. To see more of Joe and Ken's travels and adventures follow them on Instagram @jtmasucci.

GIVE GOOD FACE Summertime is full of events, and having the ideal makeup look for any occasion at any time of the day is important. The following application is easy to replicate allowing anyone to give good face all day long. Apply a complementary choice foundation, concealer, bronzer, blush (Tarte, Skillful) and highlight (Luna, Anastasia Aurora Glow Kit) to begin, then start on the eyes. First, a base shade called Tempera from the Soft Glam palette from Anastasia Beverly Hills was applied all over the lid. This shade helped even out the eyelids and create a base for the next steps. Then taking a light pink shade from the Morphe 35b palette, this color was worked into the crease and brought outward. Next, a darker pink was taken from the same palette and worked into the crease to create contrast. Also taking a shimmery pink shade from the Morhpe 35b and applying this to the top of the lid bringing it to the brow bone. Then to add some more shimmer, a gold/orange shade called Sunburst from the Fenty Beauty Galaxy eyeshadow palette was selected and applied onto the lower lid. Lastly, taking a white highlight shade called Forever Lit from the Nicole Guerriero Anastasia Beverly Hills palette and putting this in the inner corner to open up the eyes. To finish off the look a Tarte matte lip paint in an orangey shade was applied to tie the look together.

CREATING A PERSONAL BRAND By Devyn Penney
www.devynpenney.com 917.744.0090 IG: @devynpenney
EXPRESS YOURSELF WITH CONFIDENCE
I began working in retail at the age of 14 and soon realized that men and women alike all have the same ‘problem’, a closet full of clothes, and yet nothing to wear. It wasn’t until I became a personal stylist however, that I realized my clients had plenty to wear, they just didn’t know how to express themselves through their wardrobe. I would spend hours in closets, mixing, matching and creating the perfect outfit ‘formulas’ until I saw my client’s furrowed brow turn into a smile. After many closets and no real explanation as to why someone who hired me couldn’t do this for themselves, I began to understand that it all boiled down to one thing: confidence. While I was doing something that I enjoyed, and that came naturally, most people were overwhelmed by the thought of getting dressed. Not because they didn’t know what looked good, but because they wanted to wear something that would depict their personality and were afraid to get it wrong. The more I found this, the more I realized that I wasn’t just helping people choose the right pair of jeans, I was helping them create their own personal brand.
After realizing the lack of brand understanding amongst my individual clients, I knew there had to be a larger-scale need and expanded my current business, Devyn Penney Inc., to include ‘styling’ businesses as well. Now, I design websites, create content, and thoughtfully market my client’s work in a way that resonates with their audience. Though it seems like styling fashion and branding technology are completely unrelated, you do this everyday when you think about what to wear, how to do your hair, and what scent you spritz…it’s all about how you want to visually speak to your ‘audience’. A brand is, “a variety of something distinguished by some distinctive characteristic”. Once you identify the characteristics that you want to distinguish yourself by, you can then couple them with visuals that evoke some sort of emotion from those around you. How do you know which characteristics you want to emphasize? I have all my clients answer these three questions; ‘What makes me (or my business) different or unique?’, ‘What are three words I use to describe myself (or my business)?’ and ‘How do I want people to feel when they see me (or my business)?’. If you are someone who describes yourself as ‘take-charge, daring, and powerful’, perhaps you let the world know that by wearing a signature red lip (think Marilyn Monroe). If you are a beverage company and want to evoke a sense of health and happiness, then use bright colors for your labels like yellow, orange & pink (think Vitamin Water). Whether you are choosing the perfect outfit for a job interview or deciding what font your logo should be in, the process is the same. Take a deep breath, determine what defines you and brings you joy, choose how you want to make people around you feel and have the confidence to show the world know who you are.

COCKTAIL HOUR By Kimberly Wills
Summer is a season of entertaining, so do it in an effortless style with two fruity cheese spreads that will surely become your new go to. Top that off with a sparkling pineapple punch to enhance the ease of warmer days.
Sparkling Pineapple Punch Serves 8-10 Ingredients - 4 cups pineapple juice, chilled - ½ cup white rum - 1 bottle (750 ML) Prosecco, chilled - Frozen pineapple (about 2 cups) Directions Pour pineapple juice, rum and Prosecco into a large pitcher and mix. Add frozen pineapple to keep it chilled. Serve.
Jezebel Sauce Makes 3 cups Ingredients - 1 (18-ounce) jar pineapple preserves - 1 (18-ounce) jar apricot preserves - ½ cup orange marmalade - 1 (5.25-ounce) jar prepared horseradish - 1 tablespoon dry mustard - ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper - 1 block of cream cheese - Crackers Directions In a large bowl, stir together the first six ingredients. Cover and chill overnight. Refrigerate up to 2 weeks. Spoon some Jezebel sauce over a block of cream cheese and serve with crackers. SPRING SHOWERS BRING
SUMMER FLOWERS
T
here couldn’t be a better time to shed that dull, dry, winter skin for a fresher new you! For many of us, the long winter months of indoor heat and harsh outdoor weather has left our skin in some serious need of attention! Thank goodness warmer weather is on it’s way and soon we’ll be pulling out our pastel scarves and cheeky dresses! This is our chance to shine, and our skin and makeup should dance alongside appearing fresh and dewey and the colors we use should be juicy and sheer reflecting the new season. If that seems a tall order, make note of these next few PC: Dat N go makeup artist tricks to freshen your face or at least fake it! HMUA: L ive Y our B eauty (IG: @liveyourbeauty) T BW Model: Hannah (IG: @tbwmodels) There is no better friend to a woman, than great skincare! Dry skin is flaky and dull showing it’s texture under foundations and other cosmetics. Oily skin holds on to dead skin and creates a clogging barrier that forces breakouts and keeps our moisturizers from penetrating. An easy, inexpensive option hides right in our kitchen! Humble baking soda (not baking powder). Baking soda balances the PH of our skin for radiance and it’s an antimicrobial, that kills acne causing bacteria. The powder is a soft and natural exfoliant, removing dead skin and making large pores appear smaller. Great for combination skin, mix a few teaspoons with water to form a paste and apply for 5 to 10 minutes. Gently use your fingers in a circular motion to loosen the mix. Remove with a cool or steamy wash cloth and apply your favorite moisturizer and screen which is a must! For those with dry skin try replacing the water with coconut oil to create a wonderful moisturizing exfoliant. For those wanting a brightening effect for the complexion, try replacing the water with the juice of half of an orange or lemon. The vitamin c and natural collagen in the juice will give your skin a healthy boost leaving it fresh and firm! In 2018, monochromatic makeup has made our lives all simple and sophisticated. Think of the colors of the season, fresh lilac on the eyes or a swipe of bold yellow, matte peach or moss green? For this look, keep the rest of your makeup simple and dewey. Tinted moisturizer is the ticket, with the very lightest cherry stain peeking through on the apples. Keep it easy with the same treatment on the lips with any color falling right in the center of your pout. For a different look, choose to skip eyeshadow and try out the ever lasting eye liners and applications that continue to be creative in metallics or even foils? Pair them with end flicked lash strips and a natural and up-brushed brow to create a unique and modern look. Lashes are the biggest change and I have to say they might be the hardest for some to adopt? Spidery and long or messy and clumpy, lashes in 2018 will definitely open the eye and keep the focus! Work your lash wand from base to tips, jiggling the whole way to apply nice heavy layers of product. Holding the wand perpendicular to your eyes, brush it back and forth like a windshield wiper. It will gently stick the lashes together, which you can then draw out again for more length. I think this look is nice for those that have a deep set eye and need the eye opening length, as well as those can that make their already large eyes, a real “wow” feature! We might be having lots of April rain but hopefully you’ll also find inspiration in those May flowers we’ve all been so waiting for! Go for it and try those spidery lashes with no eyeshadow and a pop of cherry lip gloss? Try the bold swash of color on your lids and let it shine! Unfold your inner self and express the joy of the new season.

GUESS WHAT? VINEGAR!
Vinegar seems to be the magical serum for a multitude of life problems. From banishing household spiders or that pesky sunburn, Vinegar is a powerful saint. The Ritual: Hair discolored after swimming in a chlorine pool? Wash the chlorine blues away with Vinegar in the shower. Sun Burn? Just apply Vinegar.
Spearmint Tea & Listerine Mouthwash sound like an odd combo, but when it comes to soaking your feet, this beauty hack is efficient. The Ritual: Soak feet in a bowl of 4 cups of luke warm water, 4 mint tea bags & 2 caps of mouthwash for 20-30 minutes. Towel dry, and rub Bag Balm moisturizer in after.
VAPO RUB Vapo rub is an all in one savior for the summer season, especially if you want to ward off pesky mosquitos. The Ritual: Rub a little on the skin or keep an open jar near you while enjoying the warm weather.
ON THAT COFFEE GRIND A VODKA CRANBERRY, PLEASE.
BURNT TOAST Did you know charcoal whitens teeth? Well now you do. The Ritual: Burn one slice of toast and add the charcoal to your toothpaste for whiter teeth.
Cellulite has its enemies, but its biggest natural enemy is caffeine! The Ritual: Apply coffee grinds to the problem area of the skin topically, do this a few times a week.
Vodka is a good time in more ways than one. This beauty hack will be every tipsy girls best friend, & better yet, all the ingredients can be found at the bar. The Ritual: ½ Cup of vodka & cranberry juice, run this cocktail through dark hair for highlights. For our light haired people, do the same but replace the cranberry juice with lemon juice.
REDNESS BE GONE This classic trick is one to know if you don’t already! Visine is a life saver when that one pesky pimple makes a strong appearance. The Ritual: Add a few drops of Visine on to a Q-tip and apply to the blemish generously.

rowing up in his family's handbag workshop in Lebanon, Shaunt learned the skills of meticulous design and the art of making a beautiful bag by hand. Shaunt travels the world in search of inspiration and exotic materials for his handbag and accessory collections. Luxurious textures such as pythons, ostrich, sting ray, patent leather and calf skin are available in a variety of gorgeous colors to create a one-of-a-kind handbag for each client. Each handbag is a statement, a tribute to modern artisanship and design enticed by a European flair. Earlier in his career, Shaunt had worked for celebrated designers such as Anne Klein, Donna Karan and Cole Haan, developing their products and helping build their accessory brands.
