Empathy is not just an abstract concept but a vital, actionable force that can transform lives and societies. Empathy bridges divides, heals wounds, and fosters a sense of community and belonging.

At The Best You we believe that cultivating empathy can lead to profound personal and societal transformation. Our mission transcends merely publishing articles; we aim to ignite a movement toward greater understanding, compassion, and humanity.

to action for personal growth and self-discovery. He advocates for a deeper understanding of oneself as a pathway to understanding others. By realizing our potential, we become more equipped to empathize with and support those around us, creating a ripple effect of positive change.

The Joy of Wealth:

Bernardo Moya in Conversation with Ken Honda

Here at The Best You Magazine, we dive deep into the lives and insights of extraordinary individuals shaping our world. Bernardo Moya, editor-in-chief of The Best You, had the honor of sitting down with Ken Honda, he is the first person from Japan to be voted into the Transformational Leadership Council, a group of personal and professional development leaders. He is fluent in Japanese, English, and Spanish; lived in Boston, Massachusetts for two years; and currently resides in Tokyo, Japan.

Bernardo: Ken, so lovely to see you again and so lovely to talk to you again. Thank you so much for your time.

Ken: Thank you so much, Bernardo. This is my pleasure and honor to come back here.

B: Well, Ken, I’ve been a big fan. I am very blessed you have spoken at some of our previous events. You’re a very busy man. I can see you all over the world traveling and doing conferences. So I would love for you to share the happy money philosophy. Can you tell us a little bit more about that, please?

K: Yes, so happy money is money that makes you smile when you receive it, when you spend it, and it just brings you joy when you think of money. That’s what happy money does.

B: You normally discuss the emotional aspect of it, alongside obviously the financial. How is this emotional wealth?

K: Even though you have millions and billions of dollars in your bank account, if you’re not happy emotionally, you are living in the gutter. And on the contrary, if you don’t have any money in your bank account, but if you feel like you’re the most abundant, prosperous person on earth, you are a happy man. So you have to really take control of your emotions. Realistically, you need to have some money in your bank account to not worry about money. But you have to have the right balance of having enough money and then finding emotional wealth and abundance in your everyday life.

B: I love when you give practical steps to take action. Can you share some of those, please?

K: Sure! Next time you receive money, just appreciate the money coming in. Thank the money. Thank the person who just gave you the money. Because they, your clients, could have chosen somebody else instead of you, but they trusted you. They chose you to pay the money to.

Also, there are many reasons to appreciate the person and the money for coming in, because the money you receive is going to do some good for you, your family, your employees or the people you work with. And when you pay bills, your money will be in somebody else’s hands to bless the world. Hopefully the money comes all around back to you soon.

B: Everything happens for a reason and gratitude is a really important aspect I think. Obviously in money as well, isn’t it? Anything you have, anything that happens, it’s just being grateful.

K: Yes. A happy, prosperous person has that attitude. On the other hand, if you become greedy and if you don’t know how to be content with what you have, you always want to make more. You always want to have more. You always want to do more. And then you’ll be in this rat race. Even though you’re financially independent

or financially successful, as you run faster, the wheel goes faster, too. So you’ll always be dizzy, just chasing after one business model after another.

B: You’ve traveled the world and your book has been translated into so many different languages. What, if any, have you observed as far as cultural differences in the way that people use or manage money?

K: You know, my observation is that Asian people are more open to money, especially Chinese culture. In China it’s pretty common in an interview to ask each other how much money you make. But in North America and Europe, Western culture, it would be quite rude if you just ask a stranger or even your college buddy or among partners and close friends how much money you made last year. A lot of people associate how much money you have or how much money you make with your self-worth. This brings lots of shame and anxiety around money. I think that’s more prevalent in Western culture.

B: And what’s the role of money in relationships? Because it’s still a taboo for many couples that struggle to be open about their finances, discuss them. What’s your thoughts?

K: Right. So it’s interesting how you were born and brought up in your family. In my case for example, in my family vacations

we always said that taking something from the fridge in the hotel room is out of bounds because it’s more expensive. One time I checked into a hotel with my wife, we were very recently married at the time, and she took out a cold soda from the fridge and just started drinking and I thought, “you can’t do that!”. When I brought it up to her she told me that her parents encouraged her to have a drink if she wanted to so the hotel could make extra money. For me it was a totally different concept since my parents made me scared of the fridge, telling me that young children get electric shocks if they touch the box. I think my parents were probably joking, but until now, I feel a little bit afraid of the little box.

The point is, we are born and brought up under different circumstances. Some people are spenders, some people are savers, some people are moneymakers, some people are indifferent to money. But in the end everyone worries about money. The interesting thing is, opposite people are usually attracted to one another. But sometimes after a few years people find out they fall apart with their partners for the same reason they got together. Spending patterns or overworking and dismissing their partner’s needs. So we really need to understand how money works. And also, your constitution, your rules of money. Those are very different from your partner and your friends too. You have to pay more attention to it and work on

achieving a middleground. Because without thinking, the default way is the rules that you were brought up with.

B: Thank you, Ken. You tell people about the wealth container concept. Can you tell us a little bit more about that?

K: Yes, Bernardo, you keep asking great questions. Thank you for that. You know, I think everyone is born with a certain money container size, some small, some big, like Elon Musk and Bill Gates, they are born with a huge container. And some of us, like school teachers, nurses and police officers, we’re not born to make money. So If you try to put too much money in a small container it’s going to wreck it. That’s why a lot of lottery winners and also a lot of sports people like baseball or soccer players, end up losing a lot after their retirement. I believe it’s because our container has a certain size. Of course you can grow them. But unless you pay attention to it, we overdo it or we under appreciate what we have and we end up losing our happiness.

B: With the rise of digital currencies, do you think they could play a healthier role with money? And if so, how do the principles of happy money apply if they change in any way?

K: I think money will change its form in a very interesting way. I think our financial system cannot keep the way it is after

COVID, all the big governments in the top 20 financial giants in the world like the U.S., France, Japan etc kept on printing more money and kept on providing more cash into the system. So that’s why everything is shooting up.

At the same time, it seems that the real estate bubble is collapsing in places like San Francisco, all the major cities in Europe and major cities in China. Not much like in Canada or Japan at this point. But you never know. So some money goes to gold, or it goes to other assets like cryptocurrency. But it shoots up and down. A friend of mine who doesn’t have a high money IQ bought some crypto at its peak, then the coin dropped like 30 percent. He got scared, and wanted to sell everything. I believe that if he holds on to it, it’ll be OK. But low money IQ people just tend to lose everything because they’re not suited to make money. So you really have to pay attention, otherwise you’ll just be driven away by your greed and fear in the coming years.

B: As you said, the inflation, the uncertainty with a lot of things going on around the world now… you tend to think that there’s just going to be a breaking point at some time. Thoughts?

K: Yes, I think it could happen any minute. And we have to be ready for what a potential crash could be. But the good news is that it’s not like nuclear weapons to just blow

THERE ARE MANY REASONS TO APPRECIATE THE PERSON AND THE MONEY FOR COMING IN, BECAUSE THE MONEY YOU RECEIVE IS GOING TO DO SOME GOOD FOR YOU, YOUR FAMILY, YOUR EMPLOYEES OR THE PEOPLE YOU WORK WITH.

us all. The financial system may fail, but human beings will stay. We will keep eating, heating up our places and we need to just keep going. So even though there could be a potential crisis, we’re still human beings who will keep on living. If we have to come up with a new system, this time we’ll pay less attention to money.

Like 200 years ago, people were obsessed with salt and pepper, that was a big commodity. Because we now have other resources, in a few years we may be paying less attention to money. Hopefully there will be some kind of basic universal income so we don’t have to feel the fear of survival. And a good medical system on a world wide scale too. That’s something that people don’t have in industrialized countries but other countries already have at the cost of high taxes.

After a financial crisis we will need to restructure our system, because one way or another, we cannot really keep going the way we do. So I’m just curious to see who the next president will be in North America and what European leaders come up. It’s very disturbing what’s happening in some parts of the continent. We have some good news and some bad news. So we have to really open our eyes and then we have to be ready for the impact.

B: I hope we get some real good leaders, because it seems that we’ve messed it all up for younger generations. I know you’re involved in a lot of educational programs for children and kids. In my case I didn’t learn anything about banking, money or having a credit card or a debit card at school. I learned nothing about finances. Is that changing?

K: I think in some countries the educational system is changing that. But still, they’re just talking about the stock market. It’s not really about financial education because it’s too much based on money IQ. I think it’s more important that at school we build money IQ. Because a lot of us do so many stupid things to impress our girlfriends or boyfriends or impress other friends. We should pay more attention to our guilt, competition, shame and embarrassment at school, because if we can be free from financial guilt or funny feelings about who’s got the newest iPhones or whatnot, I think we’ll be more peaceful at school.

B: I used to read a lot about new technology, I remember reading about Google and Amazon before they were launched. And although I had money, I never thought of investing because it wasn’t something that was brought up to me. Of course if I would have bought shares of Amazon and Google then I’d be a millionaire

by now. These are the kinds of things we’re not taught at schools. And I believe it just has to change dramatically.

K: Yes. And also, it’s not too late for us because there’s a lot of new things happening too. A friend of mine was asked to promote bitcoins like 10 years ago, at the very beginning stage. They offered to pay with bitcoin, but he thought that it was just trash so he cashed it out into dollars. But if you calculate how much he had and what it could be worth today, it’s supposed to be like $20 million if he kept it.

What I mean is, that money is an illusion. We lost opportunities like that all the time. If you face your life you will realize that besides that loss, something good will turn out too. Look at people like Warren Buffett, he didn’t buy any cryptocurrency. There are so many ways to become millionaires.

B: Exactly, let it go and let it flow. I used to travel the world with a friend of mine, he loved to “redistribute wealth” by giving money to kids. This little bit of money I have means a lot to them, so I’m balancing the scale. What’s your thoughts regarding philanthropy and giving money away?

K: Yeah, so if you have more than enough, you should do it. I really love the concept of “Die With Zero”, it’s a beautiful book by Bill Perkins, you should pick it up. My happy

money book is also great. But I think for those of you who have more than enough, read Die With Zero, we cannot die with our money. Of course you have to pay your bills and do things right for your family members. But if you have more than enough, just help other people. You only can take your happy memories with you when you’re on your deathbed. You cannot enjoy the numbers of your online banking. So try to help a lot of people, especially young ones and people in need. So you feel good when you go on to the next life.

B: So Ken, we’re just about to get to the end soon. But I’d like to know, what are you working on? What excites Ken Honda now?

K: Thank you. So I’m going to publish my second English book. It’s called True Wealth. It’s a novel about a 20 year old boy who receives a package from his grandfather’s lawyer. There are nine letters and each one has a title. The first one is synchronicity, the second one is decision, action, money and so on. He opens them one by one and then he goes on a journey.

It’s a novel about the discovery of your life, and also the true wealth of his grandfather. This boy didn’t have good communication with his grandfather while he was alive, so I put it into this novel format to teach people what is important in your life.

Be curious about what’s coming next. Follow your heart, follow your synchronicities. That is the theme. So you’re going to really enjoy the book.

B: I love it. Can’t wait. When is it coming out, Ken?

K: In May, from Hay House.

B: Great. And anything else exciting you’re working on?

K: Yeah, so I’m finally going to start my English YouTube channel. And I’m going to translate some of my books. I’ve published more than 60 or 70 books, I think they need to be translated. So I’m so excited about sharing what I know about happiness, money, how to find your heart and how to find peace with your life.

B: Can’t wait, Ken. I also believe very much in connecting the dots. With the years I started realizing that everything happens for a reason. So what’s your thoughts? What does connecting the dots mean to you?

K: For me it is what has always been connected in your heart, like what your mom used to say, your dad or teacher, your friends, or somebody who passed away that you really care about. It’s that feeling of realization when you think “that’s what my mother used to say” and you really find

out what they meant. And then you feel the massive love explode in your heart. Is almost like an enlightenment, connecting dots, not in your head, but in your heart. When you feel the massive love energy, then your life will be transformed.

B: Well, Ken, once again, thank you so much. We’ll leave all the information. Of course, you’re going to be on YouTube, but where else can people find you?

K: People, you can find all the information at kenhonda.com. You can find my Arigato Living Community. We meet monthly, some people from European time, some people from North, Central, South American time. There I teach about happy money and share lots of fun stories together. And as always it was fun to have a chat with you, Bernardo. So just invite me anytime.

B: Thank you so much, Ken. Thank you so much.

K: Thank you so much. Thank you. Bye bye.

Bernardo: Hey everyone, I’m really excited today because I’m speaking with an absolute pro, Daven Michaels. Daven, how are you? It’s great to see you, amigo.

Daven: It’s great to see you. I’m very blessed and honored to talk to you today.

B: Thank you. So Daven, let’s just start from the beginning. Tell us a little bit more about yourself, about your early years, where did you start?

D: Since I was 15 years old I have been thinking about business, I was always hungry and wanted to do things. I actually graduated high school a couple of years early and I started college. Not because I wanted to, but my parents wanted me to. Back then there were no entrepreneur programs, so I was lucky at a local JC when I signed up for a one-year entrepreneur immersion course. It was run by these two maverick entrepreneurs, they really took me under their wing. Most of what I learned in business I learned from doing with these guys, they taught me that it was possible. With help and some luck I got my very first business in the early eighties designing clothing for music groups. Most of my bands had nothing going on, most of them were playing in their garage. But then MTV came on the air and changed the face of music, it changed my life. Within months, most of my bands had record deals. Within a year, they were selling millions of albums. And I was designing clothing for all the biggest bands of the eighties and nineties, Prince, Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, Thompson, all these cool bands.

That launched my entrepreneurial career - I got into telecommunications and sold that company very young. Then I got into the entertainment business and became the biggest EDM event producer in the US. I used to throw parties for like 20,000 people a night, and because of that built in fan base I had a short career as a recording artist, long careers in music and television producer, about 15 years. And then started a little sleepy company about 15 years ago called 123 Employee that grew into a big conglomerate with thousands and thousands of people all over the globe.

B: Amazing life journey, and what amazing things that you managed to achieve. But let’s get back a bit. At what age did you sell your company?

D: I sold my first company when I was 26. At that time I was selling pagers, you’re probably old enough to remember what those were. When we sold we were in 50 cities across the US, that was about two years before cell phones came into play. Everybody thought that more pagers were going to be sold when cell phones came into existence because back then it was very expensive. It was like 50 cents a minute. But looking at the numbers I knew I had to sell, although it wasn’t easy. I sold the business into a public company, the owner was this maverick entrepreneur named Hal. He would not pay the price I chose to set

up so I made a deal with him that included stock. He took that deal and about a year later that company got acquired. That kind of moved me on to the next level, which was pretty cool. So yes, you can say I’ve been a successful entrepreneur. It’s really interesting, Bernardo, when you zoom out on somebody’s life, yes, they’re successful. But if you zoom in though, there were a lot of trials and tribulations. It was very, very hard. I had nothing back then. It was tough.

B: Yes, but sometimes that’s the beauty. Like you, I did a lot of things in life, I was a DJ, I’ve been a waiter, I used to run clubs as well. Fast forward quite a few years later, I was filling in events with 14,000 people. So it’s amazing how we gain so much different expertise and apply that throughout our life, throughout our journey.

D: Oh yeah, absolutely. I think I’ve been a promoter in every business that I’ve done. It was kind of cool when I got started, I was doing EDM events in LA and San Francisco with my partners. We’d have like 500 people that would show up to these parties. And then by some crazy twist of fate, in one evening, my partner and I became the biggest EDM event producers in the US. And by the time I was excited that we had like 20,000 people a night, we ran into this kid that used to go to my parties. I inspired him to do the same thing and now he’s the biggest EDM event producer in the world.

He does 253 events a year. We are going to his event in Vegas in about a week, and he’ll have 458,000 people there. I mean, absolutely insane where it’s going.

B: Wow. Special breed, aren’t they? You know, any promoter is a special kind of breed. When you connect with someone that’s done events, produced events, you know what they are made of.

D: It’s true. One of my neighbors always tells me “I have no idea why you do what you do”. I guess he just doesn’t get it. I think it’s the greatest thing, right? I mean, make people smile. It’s just a wonderful, fun thing.

B: Yeah. And then there is the “how do you do it?”. For me I always put the goal in sight. This is the date, this is the time, this is the place. This is what it’s doing, then fill in the blanks.

D: I think that’s what all successful entrepreneurs do. They start with the outcome and then work backwards.

B: Yeah, for sure. But also adapting, adaptation to new times and trends is key for the entrepreneurial spirit. In your journey you were really ahead of the game.

D: Yes, absolutely. My background was music and television, and I had a production deal in Southeast Asia with another producer. That took me to that side of the world. There we started a little

shop in the Philippines with about 10 employees. When we reached up to 20 employees we thought of offering the little jobs we did for the production as a service. Like outsourcing for entrepreneurs. At this time big companies like American Express were outsourcing to India, but small companies weren’t.

So we launched it and failed, and relaunched it and failed. And then the third time, we kind of got it. And we began this slow, steady pace. The biggest issue we had is that we didn’t really have a market. We knew that entrepreneurs needed outsourcing services like virtual assistants and call center services, but at that time they didn’t know it existed for them. So we were just way early to market.

People always think that there’s this home court advantage to being early to market, but I’m here to tell you, it sucks being early. I realized at the time that if we wanted to have a market, we’d have to somehow carve one out. So we decided to adopt an educational model. I started writing books, speaking on stages and doing webinars. We started doing our events globally, in Australia, US, Europe, Asia, New Zealand. I started creating info products and we began educating our prospects and turning them into clients, which is a methodology that the company still uses today. And obviously that’s not kind of a new thing now, but it was definitely a new

thing back then.

This was our first tipping point in our business, our second tipping point was when we started making some money and we started to bring on some C-level help. And then the biggest tipping point was when Tim Ferriss’s book came out. So remember, we were a US company based in the Philippines. Back then it was un-American to outsource, we would get hate mail, we would get FU calls with threats to burn down our building. But when Tim’s book came out, two things happened. One, we stopped getting those phone calls. And two, all of a sudden we were the bell of the ball. Everybody wanted to learn about outsourcing. It was a groundbreaking book for us.

So those were the tipping points in our business. And that education marketing model really helped in a lot of ways. We went from marketing to one, to marketing to many and that helps your business grow exponentially. So I would write a book and 100,000 people would read it. I’d speak on a stage and hundred, if not thousands of people would hear me and see me. If I did a webinar, we’d have hundreds of people online. If we create an info product, thousands of people would absorb it. That really changed the business, and today we have thousands of employees all over the globe.

B: I’ve been to some of the gigs that you’ve been speaking at and it was so educational. I highly recommend anyone to give him a listen because he’s a natural. But I don’t think that happens overnight is it?

D: I appreciate that. And I’m definitely not a natural. I remember my first real speaking gig, a big one for me, 400 people in Vegas with big names like Marshall Silver, Les Brown, Mark Victor Hanson. And thinking back, there are a lot of lessons to be learned from that gig. First of all I wasn’t planning to be one of the speakers. I went to the promoter, his name was Mike Lathogy, and asked him how I could help, with no ulterior motive. He told me what every prometer wants “can you help get butts in seats?”. So I put the word out and sold a bunch of tickets. He called me one day and said, “How come I have all these big speakers, but nobody sold a ticket? I’m putting you on my stage”. So there I went, so I was in the back of the green room watching these guys who are masters of their craft. They’ve been speaking for decades. And I remember thinking to myself, if I could just be 10% as good as them, I would be happy, I’d be over the moon. But I went out that day and I failed. And that was the beginning of my journey seeking knowledge. I invested in my craft, invested money and time, and now I can say I’m in that same group with those guys. Now I’ve spoken in 51 countries and just love it. It’s my favorite thing to do.

B: Yes it’s great to see that progress. I remember a story you told about a one dollar client. Can you share that story? Because I loved where it took you as well.

D: Yes! There was a guy that bought one of my books. I made a whole dollar from the purchase of that book because it was on a major imprint so you usually don’t make a lot of money on those sales. So this gentleman bought my book and I made a dollar. He liked what he read and he bought a $500 ticket to one of my events. After that he signed up for my mastermind, which was 35K. So we went from one 500, 35K. He wanted help with his business, and I gave him some ideas outside his blind spot. His company took off, he had 3 million distributors in his business in eight months. I can’t take the whole credit because he was a highly accomplished entrepreneur already. But it was an unbelievable growth curve. After that he needed customer service help. 150 agents became a $2 million account. So again we went from one dollar to 500 to 35K to 2 million a year.

B: So Daven, tell me what are you involved in now? I know you’re living in Puerto Rico and you had over the chart success with the San Juan Social Club Cruise. Tell us a little bit about that.

D: Absolutely. I love to build communities and today I have millions of followers that follow me all over the globe as a result of my books and events. Six years ago I moved to Puerto Rico, here are some unique opportunities to live and work, besides that it’s a beautiful paradise. But I missed a community, so I started a little group that now has grown to almost 2000 people in the San Juan Social Club. We do curated events at different locations across

the Island once a month, literally to bring people together. It’s a very unsophisticated model with a very sophisticated purpose. Besides the food, the cocktails and the fun, we do social events, learning events and philanthropic community service events. It has really grown into an amazing tribe, there’s no real financial deal, I do them as a public service. Just for fun and to make a difference here with native Puerto Ricans and what I call New O’Ricans.

Now the San Juan Social Club Cruise that we created about a year ago it’s an idea that came from the marketers groups. So for 16 years a dear friend of ours, Captain Lou Edwards, has been doing the marketers cruise where he brings together all the top marketers from all over the world. I’ve spoken on that cruise for the last decade. And there were three byproducts that came from that cruise. One is I made tens of millions of dollars from those connections. Two, I built a global audience because I did all these joint venture deals with people from all over the world. And then they went back to their respective countries and shared my message with their tribes. And Three, all of our best friends came from the cruise.

For us I know it’s true Bernardo, we met on that cruise. And if you spend a week with somebody, have great adventures together, meals together, you get to know each other, you go deep, you become besties and you can make more money together too. And so I really wanted to create something like that for Puerto Rico. I actually had the idea a long time ago but it only came about last year, and I have to tell you Bernardo, it was a tough decision. We had to do a lot of work just to get the itinerary, to get a cruise line that was coming out of Puerto Rico. There were a lot of roadblocks. But finally we got

lucky. We locked down an itinerary, we had a contract in hand and I did it with Lou. He is my coordinator, we’d been talking about it for a long, long time. And honestly, I was apprehensive because it was a very public thing. If I announced it and it tanked and I failed, everybody would know. But I did it, we announced it and we started to get some steam. I spent the last year worrying about it because I had this vision in my head for what it was going to be, but I didn’t know how it would turn out. At the end it was amazing, we had our first San Juan Social Club Cruise with Virgin. We had 238 amazing high-level founders, entrepreneurs and executives from the Island and beyond, people that live in Puerto Rico or are interested in Puerto Rico that want to network, make friends and learn about all of Puerto Rico’s amazing opportunities and resources.

I put those opportunities and resources in three buckets. One is governmental, like tax incentives. Two are services that guys and gals like me might want to take advantage of. And then all the cool stuff that people like me on the Island are doing. Those are the three buckets. And so the cruise was incredible, we raised money to buy 21,000 meals for the kids of the Boys and Girls Club. And our cruisers did about $110 million in deals, just networking between each other. So even if you’re not interested in Puerto Rico, you should come because first of all, you end up in the Caribbean, which It’s beautiful. We’re on Virgin, which is reinventing cruising. And also maybe you want to network with high-level individuals, so this is a place to get a serious concentration of them. For now we have 80% of the rebooking for the next one which is until next year, and we’re already bigger than the marketer with over

400 people booked. It took 16 years for the marketer’s cruise to get to 450, for us it was just one so I don’t know where this is gonna go…

B: I heard some phenomenal reviews and I got to say there’s nothing like that, the opportunity of coming together, connecting with the high caliber people that you bring, and for a whole week. I think you’re gonna do great and I’m excited to be there next year.

D: And let me tell you more. It’s just a small group of people that really take advantage of this. It really requires a pioneering spirit to pick up everything and leave a place that you’re comfortable and come to Puerto Rico. It’s a very interesting place that offers some great advantages for some businesses, only if you’re willing to make your home Puerto Rico. It’s a beautiful place and it’s amazing all the opportunities that opened up by being here. And the Puerto Rican people are incredibly lovely.

B: Exciting, Sounds amazing. Where can people find out about you?

D: I’m Daven Michaels on everything. You can find out more about me at davenmichaels.com and then if you want to learn more about the San Juan Social Club and the Cruise you can go to sjsocialclub. com. I hope you’ll join us. I will tell you, the secret sauce on the cruise was the cross pollination from people from Puerto Rico and all the mover and shaker friends that I’ve met over the last decade. Everyone got fired up for what the other one was doing so they all started doing business together. And that’s why I’ve been kind of relentlessly reaching out to my friends, like you, saying you have to come on this!

B: Well, we will definitely be recommending it. Daven, thank you so much for your time. I’m very, very grateful we could have this conversation. Congratulations, keep living a dream, and keep doing what you’re doing.

D: Thank you, my man. I appreciate you.

INNER YOU: REALIZING YOUR FULL POTENTIAL

In 2004, Mike Pauletich started experiencing symptoms of what he thought was carpal tunnel syndrome – a condition that causes numbness, tingling or weakness in the hands. His aim with a baseball was off, his arm hurt, his hand shook a little and his wife noticed that he suddenly stopped smiling.

To confirm whether his suspicions were accurate, the 42-year-old technology executive booked a visit to his doctor. Following a thorough medical evaluation, however, he discovered that his coordination issues weren’t because of his arm or hand but were early signs of Parkinson’s disease – a progressive neurological illness caused by a deficiency of the brain neurotransmitter dopamine, with most developing symptoms occurring after the age of 50. With no known cure available, his doctor told him that within a decade or so there was a very high probability that he wouldn’t be able to walk, stand or feed himself.

While Pauletich didn’t deteriorate as much as had been predicted, he struggled with movement, speaking, writing and depression. It wasn’t looking good, and he became desperate to explore experimental treatments in the small hope that they could help him get better.

In 2011, he came across news of a Parkinson’s study being conducted by the company Ceregene. They were in the process of testing a novel gene therapy that sounded aggressive: the procedure involved the drilling of two small holes in the patient’s skull, followed by the injection of the protein neurturin directly into specific regions of the brain. It had been shown in monkeys that injections of this protein could alleviate the progress of the disease by protecting and even possibly repairing damaged dopamine-secreting neurons.

Despite testing on humans being at such an early stage, he was willing to enrol in the study to give it a try. He had a belief that undergoing this brain surgery would help him fight the disease once and for all. The result? Nothing short of an absolute miracle.

Prior to the surgery he found it painful to move around and had to explain to clients of his company that his slurred speech wasn’t caused by excessive drinking. After coming out from surgery, his shaking vanished, his mobility significantly improved, and he spoke articulately. It got to a point where it was difficult to tell whether he had any symptoms at all. His physician on the study, Stanford neurologist Dr Kathleen Poston,

was astonished by these results. The disease had never before been reversed in humans. The best hope was for a slowdown in the progression of the disease, and even this was extremely rare.

Then, in April 2013, the final results of Ceregene’s study were released: it had failed. There were no significant improvements in symptoms related to Parkinson’s disease for the patients who received the injection of neurturin versus the control group who had received a placebo treatment – those in this latter group had the small holes cut in their skulls to make it feel as if there had been an operation, but no neurturin at all was injected. The results both surprised and disappointed Dr Poston.

However, after looking closer into the study’s data, she was shocked to learn that Pauletich was in the group that didn’t receive any neurturin. He got the placebo instead. Remembering her patient’s miraculous improvement, she wondered how this could be when no treatment was received.

Pauletich’s recovery illustrates just how powerful the placebo effect can be on us. Flooding our mind with high expectations is what drives the placebo effect – a belief

that becomes so potent that it has this extraordinary ability to heal. When story and imagination are in sync together like a flawless symphony, the results can be astounding.

Within the field of medicine, science shows that this placebo effect can trigger a neurochemical response through the release of endorphins or opium-like painkillers from the brain that intercepts and inhibits pain. In Pauletich’s case, the mind instructed his body to get better but in order for this to take form, he had to be convinced that change was about to occur when he signed up to the Ceregene study. It’s through the anticipation of recovery that our minds take on a role similar to that of a pharmacist, prescribing us with the medicine that we seek to heal us.

If the placebo effect proves anything, it is that you must never underestimate the influence that your energetic state can have on your wellbeing. Your thoughts can make you feel ill and stressed or excited and energized; it is the key that ignites the engine of healing and is a testament to the immense power of the human mind.

You are born with this extraordinary capacity to create energetic shifts in your reality, and to become your own placebo is to be conscious about your thoughts and what you choose to believe in, because it is in your thinking that your customized human experience of life is created.

Reality is nothing more than perception, and your perception of the world is determined by your energetic state. Transform your energy therefore, and you transform your life.

Awareness around the nature of thought equips you with the ability to bend your reality and shape your experiences towards a more desirable outcome. Thoughts are just thoughts – at any given moment you can choose one over another – and those that you believe to be true will manifest themselves into your reality. Your mind, therefore, is the birthplace of every victory and every defeat.

Just imagine what you can do and achieve when you believe you are worth it; when you silence that inner critic and instead listen to the words of the guide within. You might not be able to control what people think of you, but you can always control the way you think about yourself. This is why the most powerful dialogue is the one that happens within yourself every day, because what consumes your thinking influences who you become. The quality of your energetic state is directly linked to the conversations you have with yourself.

As Brianna Wiest writes in her book Ceremony, “You fall in love with yourself when you start to take care of yourself. You fall in love with yourself when you stop thinking of self-love as an infatuation, but a homecoming. You fall in love with yourself when the child inside looks at the adult you are now and sees the ease of their own approval.” It is self-compassion, not selfcriticism, that gives you the energy to be comfortable with the uncomfortable.

If you want to rewrite the narrative of where your story goes from here, you must change how you speak to yourself. Because when you doubt your power, you give power to your doubt.

BE CONSCIOUS ABOUT YOUR THOUGHTS AND WHAT YOU CHOOSE TO BELIEVE IN

THE BOOK THAT CHANGES YOUR LIFE

In the early 2000s, I decided it was time to fulfil my lifelong ambition to write a novel. I took time out of my day job – being a work-life balance consultant to organisations from blue chips to SMEs on how flexible working could improve their business – and started to write a fictionalised version of my journey of adopting a baby from a Russian children’s home. I had two older birth children, and in Blood and Water I wanted to explore the difference (or not) in the family relationships.

Ihad already written two non-fiction books (about work-life) which had been commissioned by the publisher and this time I wanted to be ‘creative’, so I sat at my desk, got into the flow, and wrote what felt like a deep and meaningful, inspired story. I sent the manuscript to an agent I knew, and she responded very quickly. Instead of the praise I had convinced myself she’d be giving me, she told me my manuscript was both boring and unbelievable. After remonstrating that it couldn’t be unbelievable because this was my actual life experience, I had to admit she might be right. A book with no structure, no plotted, thought-through journey for the reader, wouldn’t hold their attention and was, let’s face it, self-indulgent on the part of the writer.

I licked my wounds, then read and educated myself about the structure of fiction and non-fiction books. I rewrote Blood and Water and entered it in one of the UK’s biggest novel competitions. It didn’t win, but it was shortlisted (out of 47,000 entries!) and published in 2006 by Macmillan. I wrote two more novels and started on a fourth, a comedy about women trying to change their lives through different selfhelp methodologies. But as I researched all the different books they would be using, the project morphed and I decided to write my own self-help book by taking some of most

robust strategies and combining them into a short guide for a happier life.

It was through that process that I realised that although books you read can have a profound impact on the way you think, feel and experience the world, the books that really change your life are the ones that you write.

In fact, writing and publishing The Real Secret (an antidote to Rhonda Byrne) changed my life quite radically, because it was published by an independent press called Bookshaker, whose founder, Joe Gregory, was to become my business partner in Rethink Press and Book Magic AI.

In 2011, Joe and I co-founded Rethink Press on a hybrid business model: our market of expert and entrepreneur authors, whose primary aim for their book was to build their business rather than make retail sales, would pay for the production of their books, keeping them in control of the design and positioning, owning all copyright in their intellectual property and with the specific aim of using their book as a business tool. Print-on-demand and online retailers like Amazon had broken the traditional publishing business model and allowed hybrid publishers and self-publishers to avoid the old school gatekeepers.

Our experimental startup was a two-person business – Joe did all the design and publishing while I did all the writing and editing. And then we went into partnership with the Key Person of Influence entrepreneur accelerator programme, and I began a 10-year stint of mentoring 2000+ business owners to position, plan and write their book.

Since then, Rethink Press has grown into a team of 40+ international publishing professionals, published over 1,000 titles, and in 2024, we founded the unique bookwriting app, Book Magic AI (https://www. bookmagic.ai) that has taken a decade of mentoring and coaching experience and combined it with the best that AI can offer (which is NOT writing a book for the author, but helping to position, plan, prompt and refine). Our aim is to inspire and support even more experts and entrepreneurs to author the book that will transform their lives and businesses.

Make no mistake, writing and publishing a great book that will transform your business is an intense project. But the benefits it will bring you personally, your business, your clients, colleagues, family and friends are exceptional. My experience tells me that there are five predictable, life-changing outcomes.

WRITING AND PUBLISHING A GREAT BOOK IS AN INTENSE PROJECT. BUT THE BENEFITS IT WILL BRING YOU PERSONALLY, YOUR BUSINESS, YOUR CLIENTS, COLLEAGUES, FAMILY AND FRIENDS ARE EXCEPTIONAL.

1. CLARITY AND CONFIDENCE

Every author we work with finds that the process of planning and writing their books is both personally and professionally illuminating. Organising your thoughts, knowledge, experience and expertise into a detailed structure – the blueprint of a logical and enlightening journey for your reader forces you to interrogate the steps of your process, your client or customer journey, and the way you want to present your practice and your data to your readers. Then writing the manuscript through several iterations gives you the opportunity to unpack and review everything, from the currency of your views to the whole premise of your business.

Creating that manuscript brings a new level of confidence in a wide range of situations. Your book is probably the most extended piece of writing you will do. It creates an archive of content that you can repurpose into blog posts, articles, podcasts, workshops, courses, presentations and keynote speeches, saving you time and assuring you that whatever format you deploy your edited book manuscript in, it will be the most eloquent and articulate formulation of your knowledge.

2. AUTHORITY AND INFLUENCE

There is literally nothing that confers the status of authority, or expert in your field, like being the author of a published book. In the increasingly online environment your printed book stands out as a physical product, representing you as well as containing your knowledge and skill in an iconic format. Your ebook is an electronic asset that can be given to prospects, clients, colleagues and partners at the touch of a key. And your audio book speaks your voice of authority directly into the ear of your listeners.

Your book’s ability to go far and wide, across continents, speak to people you don’t know and would never be able to contact, be passed on through recommendations and via online booksellers is an extraordinary kind of influence.

3. PROSPECTS AND CLIENTS

And a well-leveraged book is the best undercover salesperson for your business. Precisely because it is not a business card, marketing brochure or sales pitch, but a convincing journey through your in depth knowledge and effective process or working

model, with plenty of practical case studies, personal anecdotes and supporting data or research to back up your own experience, the clients you most want to work with will come back to you for implementation of your ideas.

4. SPEAKING AND PLATFORMS

If you would love to get more or better paid or higher profile speaking engagements, then your book is your entrée to guesting on podcasts, speaking at industry events, appearing in the media as an expert or pundit. When do you not hear speakers and guests introduced as ‘the author of…’? Their book is the source of their authority to comment on their specialist subject. Not only does their book define their expertise, but it’s very likely how the organiser, podcaster, producer or journalist found them in the first place.

Amazon is one of the most powerful search engines, and if you have a book published on Amazon its algorithm ensures that you and your book will appear at the top of any search page for you or your subject.

5. BOOK MAGIC

Confidence, authority, influence, clients, income and speaking platforms are all predictable and massively positive outcomes of writing and publishing your book.

But there are always some unique results for each author from publishing their book –sometimes seeming almost magical. Authors have found their book connects them with their heroes or other influencers; many have won awards, been invited onto prestigious committees, got international speaking gigs, unexpectedly doubled their business, found their perfect client, become media pundits… we have so many magical stories our authors have told us about their books.

And this is why we named our book-writing app Book Magic, and why we always say, the book that changes your life is not the one you read, but the one you write.

ADVANCED POWER WORDS

As philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein said, ‘The limits of my language means the limits of my world.’ My guess is that at this stage you’ve rid yourself of disempowering terms such as can’t or failure. However, are you now unknowingly being held back by using perfectly good or even great language? What options have you not yet considered for speaking your next levels into existence?

Sometimes we become used to reaching for certain words or phrases that simply don’t carry enough clarity or don’t pack enough of an emotional punch. This is often because the people around us favour them. In such instances a quick rewrite, choosing something more to your taste can make all the difference. For example, I have a friend who loves the word tremendous, one I never opt for but it works (tremendously) for him. For me the

word genius is key but to another friend this some word sounds empty and elite.

Strangely, I find old fashioned slang from the 1920-1960s perks me up with its oddly quaint enthusiasms, ‘And how!’ ‘Righteous!’ ‘I’m hitting on all sixes,’ ‘Everything’s Jake.’ While modern corporate terms such as, ‘Kick into touch,’ ‘Think outside the box,’ and, ‘Drill down,’ leave me flat.

Elevating your life entails doing what genuinely works rather than doing what should work or what works for others or what used to work once upon a very long time ago. To be clear, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with any of these word choices. If you find that the original delivers brilliantly for you – great/marvellous/outstanding! Keep using that. This article is for those who no longer feel empowered by certain stylings, those

particular expressions that are disappointing and confusingly feeble in doing their job. It’s an invitation for you to get creative with how you speak to yourself in the pursuit of your personal success/ultimate destiny/dream life… you get the idea.

HOW SWAPPING OUT ONE WORD FOR ANOTHER CAN ALTER THE JOB THAT YOU’RE DOING

FROM USING GOAL TO SAYING DIRECTION:

When we exclusively land on the word ‘goal’ in speaking about an area of our lives we’re looking to evolve into, we can inadvertently

put unnecessary pressure on our life-system. A goal can feel absolute and unyielding. We can lock ourselves into a result which might make us feel like a flake if we later need to adjust that desired outcome.

For example, if you say, ‘My goal is to write a novel,’ and then in the process you discover that short stories or spoken word appeals to you more, then you might feel less delighted by this adjustment into something that suits you better because you’re letting go of a fixed goal rather than adjusting your route. Telling yourself you’re setting off in the direction of finding the right creative platform for you can be a better way to communicate this to yourself. No less definite but far more pliable.

GRATITUDE TO SUPPORT:

Gratitude is the quality of feeling thankful through focusing on the upside of what we already have. However, when you’re most in need of feeling grateful that’s exactly when you’re least likely to be able to experience said sensation. Changing the word to ’support’ allows us to recognise it as part of our reality and then soon after that we feel the warm fuzzies that follow. Also it takes the guess work out of what exactly is supposed to feel so frickin’ marvellous. Do you feel grateful that you were made redundant from your job? “No.” Well then, what part of the situation do you feel supported by? “I feel supported by (grateful for) the fact that I have marketable skills, a steady spouse, an emergency fund, that it was done kindly…” Now you can access that feeling of support which is what gratitude depends on.

MASSIVE ACTION TO TARGETED ACTION:

This particular word swap helps keep overwhelm at bay and promotes efficiency.

Rather than asking what are all the things that can be done, the question becomes focused on the actions most likely to give the required result. Again, it depends how this helps or hinders your thinking and action taking and also where along the action-taking continuum you find yourself.

MANIFESTATION TO ACTUALISATION:

Manifesting is an act of something energetically coming into being, which can feel quite passive to some people. Actualisation is a making actual or existent where the emphasis is more far more hands on. This word swap keeps it in the realm of the energetic while also allowing more space for the physically practical, material aspects of bringing new things into your life. Note again that the inverse might be the case for you.

NEW TERMS JUST FOR THE SAKE OF THE NEW

We become habituated to hearing the same expressions over and over, such that we stop attending to the things we hear all the time, so simply changing up a phrase for the sake of change can be a really powerful tool in allowing you to hear it again.

If you speak more than one language or if you’re a student of languages, it can be mind blowing to listen to self development materials in your non-dominant or lessused tongue.

Equally a self-directed kick in the pants such as, ‘Let’s do this,’ can become, ‘Step Up,’ ‘Forward March,’ ‘Get In There!’ None being necessarily more effective than the other, it’s a question of whatever gets your attention.

If you’ve been telling your 6 a.m. bathroom mirror self that you’re a, ‘Lean, mean fighting

machine’, might it be worth switching to calling yourself, ‘You good looking beast, you!’ or borrowing Matthew McConaughey’s ‘Statesman, philosopher, folk-singing poet’?

As playwright Tom Stoppard reminds us, ‘Words are sacred. If you get the right ones in the right order you can nudge the world a little.’ And that nudge into a clearer, more immediate, more emotionally available format can change your trajectory and, across time, your destiny.

BE KIND TO YOUR FUTURE SELF

Aloha. Spring has come and gone, and life moves on. With the world changing faster than ever, and the rug pulled out from under us, again and again … What now??! Thank heaven birds are still singing, and bees buzzing. QiGong Master Dr Effie Chow, taught that we, together with Mother Earth, are in a collective birthing process, to birth a more loving, higher consciousness, new world… And that now’s high time to birth your future YOU

Warning: If you’re here for a rah rah, riches and “success,” power and influence, promised land formula; this isn’t the right article for you. However, if you’re willing to do the necessary deeper real work, for us to come together, in our collective birthing process, to together birth a kinder, more loving, more merciful world, with true freedom, happiness, and abundance possible for all; And leave a legacy that’s RIP uniquely yours… Welcome Home.

Aloha. I’m Dr Linda Nadia Hole MD. My life has been, and still is, a healing journey. In my youth, I went to work with a fractured skull; with the prognosis, that I’d 80/20 be paralyzed for life; and recovered. Raised by two physician parents, I too become one.

As a young doctor, I strived to follow in the footsteps of my legendary missionary minister grandfather. I served in a ghetto hospital, and on San Quentin’s Death Row. Weekends off, I helped bring the disabled white water rafting.

As a young Mom, I served as president of the California State Homeopathic Medical Society; as a physician for the International Fast for Life for nuclear disarmament; and thank Qi, found QiGong.

To this day, I’m grateful for how our so many have trusted me to help support them through pivotal turning point, health, relationship, business, psycho-spiritual, and other challenges in their lives… to out of the blue, LOL calls for help, “Doc, I lost my diamond ring. Can you tell me where it is?”

Nowadays, with the unprecedented upheavals of our times, SOS calls for help, keep coming. This very moment, we’ve the son of a beloved in the ICU, with organ failure, fighting for the will to live.

Outside the ICU, seemingly happy professionals, privately confess how bewildered, and overwhelmed they’ve felt. One colleague, checked himself into rehab for a failed suicide attempt.

As global cries for help, are coming ever closer to home – How can we inspire people to trust living into their OMG future life, for ultimately a happier future for us all, before it’s too late?

Thank heaven for tribes like Best You Synergy, and Secret Knock, committed to inspiring positive change worldwide. In my own life, I’ve had the honor of also getting to know a tribe of extraordinary Kahunas, QiGong masters, indigenous shamans, and other spiritual healing masters, as near family.

Thanks to the blessings of such gifted crosscultural mentors, I now practice “QiGong Miracle Healing” from China; via the Breath of Aloha, from Hawaii. Over decades working thousands, I’m awed again and again, at the transformational power of these simple tools, as one answer to “What now?”

Note that a “miracle” can be as ordinary as a tear drop, or a smile; and God willing, as

dramatic as the blind seeing, deaf hearing, crippled walking, and lives changing.

With the world and life as is, may we share with you what’s possible?

Meet Alexis, a spiritual teacher. When we met Alexis, she was a single mom, struggling to make ends meet, facing eviction, and little known for her work. Working with Alexis, she started magically showing up at the right place, at the right time, to meet the right people. She shot to stardom, fell in love, and made over $40K on her first tour abroad.

Meet Francis, a husband, father, and corporate consultant, with chronic pain, frustrations both at work, and home. Working with Francis, he released the stuck Qi of long buried feelings. A month or so later, he reported, “My pain’s gone; I’ve a new job; and at home, our family relationships have cleared at the ancestral level! Thank you – Your work is worth more than the over $20k that I spent on other ‘experts.’ Are you a shaman?”

While these stories may sound too good to be true, like results are not uncommon among Qi practitioners. The Qi and your Breath, have a Divine intelligence, with the power to profoundly transform lives.

What’s Qi? Qi is the scientifically measurable, universal vital life healing force. The key to Qi, is your breath.

QiGong, a 5000 year old healing art from China, is the practice of cultivating Qi; and is scientifically clinically documented toRelieve pain, stress, and fatigue

DOING GOOD DEEDS ACTUALLY REDUCES PHYSICAL PAIN

A new study has found that doing a good deed not only helps the recipient, but brings the giver physical pleasure and pain relief. “Acting altruistically relieved not only acutely induced physical pain among healthy adults but also chronic pain among cancer patients,” concluded the China-based authors in the study, published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the USA. The researchers looked at the impact of being a good Samaritan in 280 people through two pilot studies and three experiments. MRI scans of patients’ brains found that an act of perceived kindness had an instant, deactivating impact on the portion of the brain that registers painful stimulation — the medial prefrontal cortex. PSYCHOLOGISTS REVEAL 7 WAYS PARENTS CAN DRIVE HAPPINESS BY HELPING KIDS FIND THEIR PURPOSE

Kids who feel their lives have meaning are happier and healthier, psychologists say. Feeling a sense of purpose is a key factor in human happiness. That’s according to a recent Gallup poll, which found that 60% of Gen Zers who describe themselves as happy also say they have a sense of purpose at work or school. But while school is out for the summer, it’s important for parents and guardians to guide their kids in a direction that sparks interest, experts advise.

HOW AMERICANS ARE ‘PAYING

IT FORWARD’ HUNDREDS OF TIMES

Almost eight in 10 Americans believe that karma is real. And, perhaps inspired by that notion, 84% say they will go out of their way to “pay it forward” whenever possible. That’s according to a poll of 2,000 U.S. adults that tallied 84% as agreeing with the idea that ‘what goes around comes around’. The respondents reported they are “paying it forward” in a number of ways, including: treating their loved ones to something special, giving generous tips, helping out a neighbor by carrying their groceries or shoveling snow, or donating money to organizations or charities. Almost four in ten said they volunteered their time to help friends and family, or supported locally-owned businesses. The average adult engages in five generous acts per week, which adds up to 260 random acts of kindness each year.

ENJOY LIFE: LEARNING TO BE YOUR VERY BEST SELF

In the quest for self-improvement and personal development, one often encounters the need to embrace the art of living fully and authentically. This journey toward becoming your very best self is not about conforming to societal norms—it’s about breaking away from the mundane and the ‘vanilla’ to discover and cherish your unique essence.

THE VANILLA METAPHOR

The term ‘vanilla’ is frequently used to describe something plain, standard, or conventional. While vanilla ice cream might be a favorite worldwide, it’s often seen as the safe, default choice. But why settle for being the default? Much like Heladería Coromoto in Venezuela, which transformed from offering basic flavors to becoming a Guinness World Record holder with over 800 unique varieties, individuals too can transform their lives by embracing uniqueness over uniformity.

STEPS TOWARD SELFDISCOVERY AND INFLUENCE

1. CRAFT YOUR UNIQUE AND UNREASONABLE DREAMSCAPE

Imagine you are an artist, and your life is a canvas. What grand vision would you paint for yourself? As an aspiring international leader, consider where you want to be in the next few years. If your vision doesn’t intimidate you, it’s probably too safe. Challenge yourself with goals that seem just out of reach; this is where true growth happens. Think of it as your own ‘avocado ice cream’ moment—a venture into the unknown that could redefine your career.

2. DARE TO FAIL

The fear of failure is a formidable barrier. However, embracing failure as a stepping stone is vital for growth. In many cultures, failure is seen negatively, but shifting this perspective can ignite creativity and innovation. Allow yourself the freedom to experiment and fail within the safe bounds of your dreamscape. Remember, each failure is simply a stepping stone closer to your ultimate goal.

3. STAY HUNGRY

Stay relentlessly driven towards your goals. This means maintaining your ambition and adaptability in the face of obstacles. Being ‘hungry’ is not about literal hunger,

but a metaphor for the continual desire to achieve and excel. Challenges and changes are inevitable; staying hungry ensures you are always ready to adapt and overcome.

EMBRACING AUTHENTICITY

Being less ‘vanilla’ isn’t just about being different; it’s about being more authentically you. Authenticity involves understanding who you are and leveraging your unique strengths while accepting and working on your weaknesses.

CULTIVATING SELFCONFIDENCE

Authenticity starts from within. It builds from a strong sense of self-confidence, which can be fostered by regularly evaluating your beliefs about your capabilities and working on them. Reflect on what makes you feel confident and focus on these aspects to enhance your self-belief.

ENHANCING COMPETENCE

With increased competence should come an increase in confidence. Identify the skills you need to develop to achieve your goals and diligently work on them. This dual focus on confidence and competence will empower you to stand out as a uniquely capable individual.

THE ART OF GLOBAL INFLUENCE

Your journey toward being less vanilla and more you is also a path to becoming a more influential leader on the international stage. This unique blend of authenticity, confidence, and competence makes you not only a leader but a relatable, respected figure in any field.

DEVELOPING A COMPELLING ATTRACTIVENESS

Finally, define what makes you compellingly attractive in a professional context. This involves finding a balance between being supportive and being assertive—qualities that make people respect and trust you.

CONCLUSION

Living a ‘less vanilla’ life is about embracing the full spectrum of your personality and capabilities. It’s about being bold, unique, and authentic. Whether you’re leading a team, managing a project, or just looking to improve yourself, stepping away from the vanilla path can lead to a richer, more rewarding life experience. Let’s ditch the default and dare to be distinctive. Embrace your inner uniqueness and watch as the world opens up to your true potential.

COLLABORATION OR CRISIS

In One Hundred Years of Solitude, (which ironically includes a rigged election between the Liberal and Conservative parties), the novelist Gabriel Garcia Marquez paints a haunting picture of what happens when societies can’t agree on basic facts. The novel describes a mass shooting of Colombian civilians by government troops, at a banana plantation in 1928, and transforms it into a mysterious amnesia gripping the people. The government denies the attack, and a single character is left, for the rest of the novel, trying to convince the town that the massacre even took place.

On November 3, 2020, America’s Democrats and Republicans engaged in a presidential election that was marred by allegations of voter fraud. Many Republicans and the conservative media believe that the election was stolen, while many Democrats and the liberal media refuse to acknowledge that voter

fraud, of any consequence, ever existed. This inability to agree on basic facts underscores the profound division facing America. The 45,000 Americans who stormed the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021, should be a warning sign to all of us, of the clear and present danger that this inability to agree on basic facts represents.

Understanding how your brain works will allow you to gain a greater understanding not only of your own thoughts, but of the thoughts of others. Our brains experience the world and collect information through our five senses—our senses of sight, sound, touch, taste and smell. This sensory information is what creates our thoughts, emotions, and perspectives. Our brains also process information and sensations at different levels of consciousness. We receive approximately eleven million bits of information per second. Yet our conscious

“WE CANNOT CHANGE WHAT WE ARE NOT AWARE OF, AND ONCE WE ARE AWARE, WE CANNOT HELP BUT CHANGE.”
SHERYL SANDBERG, COO OF FACEBOOK

brain can only process fifteen to fifty bits of information per second. The majority of sensory information enters through our unconscious brain outside of our conscious awareness. Both our conscious and our unconscious minds play a role in shaping how we see the world.

We believe that when we make decisions, we understand the principal factors that influenced those decisions. Very often, nothing could be further from the truth. Our most basic assumptions about ourselves and society are often based on information that we may not even be aware of consciously. Our brains do not simply experience the taste of wine or food, they create it. And that creation of taste is influenced by a multitude of factors including the product’s marketing; price; label; bottle; or brand. Our surroundings; music; and the people we’re with also influence our tastes

and perceptions. Memories are not only the sum of what we have done but also the sum of what we have thought, what we have been told and what we believe.

“TTHE ILLITERATE OF THE 21ST CENTURY WILL NOT BE THOSE WHO CANNOT READ OR WRITE, IT WILL BE THOSE WHO CANNOT LEARN, UNLEARN AND RELEARN”

ALVIN TOFFLER –

FUTURIST

Researchers have shown that it is possible to implant false memories through conscious and unconscious suggestion. These false memories feel no different from memories that are based on reality. Often our memories are incomplete. We can’t remember every detail. In these instances, our unconscious brains may fill in the missing pieces. Our memories then become a combination of what we remember and what our brains create to fill in the missing gaps. The unconscious brain makes the brain extremely susceptible to suggestion—a double-edged sword. Music, colors, and textures have been shown to influence purchasing decisions in a manner that is outside of our conscious awareness. Even chemicals can influence our thoughts and actions.

Oxytocin, which is released during sexual intimacy, hugs and casual touching, can lead to feelings of emotional closeness even in the absence of a conscious intellectual connection between the parties. Given all that is known about the human brain, social media and “fake news” provide opportunities for manipulation on a scale never before possible. We have yet to fully understand or appreciate the true nature of this risk. The nature of the human brain means that we are highly susceptible to manipulation, misdirection and control.

Advertisers, corporations, politicians and governments all know this and you need to know it as well. You need to recognize and guard against your inherent, physiological vulnerability to misinformation and manipulation. You do this through increased awareness, inquiry and attention. You also need to understand how others are being manipulated. You need to be aware of both your brain’s immense power and significant vulnerability. You need to see your brain as a double-edged sword, both to maximize your potential and avoid harm.

We all see life through our unique prisms, and none of these prisms have any privileged legitimacy. As Americans, we share this country with approximately 335 million people, and we share the world with approximately 7.5 billion people and counting. They all have varied backgrounds and personal experiences. They all have unique prisms. They all see things differently. Understanding and having a tolerance for multiple perspectives is therefore critical. Be open to changing and modifying your perspective. Watch, read and listen to multiple points of view, especially those that you disagree with. Be open, flexible, curious and adaptive.

Understand the limitations of your own perspective and the opportunities offered by the perspectives of others. Instead of seeing alternative perspectives as threats, see them as assets that can bring you closer to the truth. It’s important that we all understand the inherent limitations

of our own thoughts. Every moment of our lives, our brains are turning sensory data into what we believe is reality. Yet there is no provable link between “this is what I see” and “this is what is real.” Your brain determines your perception and different brains perceive things differently. Humans, in general, have five senses that operate within a limited band of reception. Constrained by our perceptual tools, we have no way to measure reality outside of our limited perception.

Stephen Hawking belonged to the camp of physicists who believe that reality exists as a material fact but he conceded, as did Einstein, that science doesn’t claim to know what reality is. Even believing in a fixed reality is an assumption—perhaps the greatest assumption of all time. Einstein called it “my religion” to denote that this was an article of faith for him. He could not prove that reality exists as a fixed state or material fact. Reality may not exist at all as a material fact. What we mistake for reality may simply be a product of our perception. There may be no such thing as provable reality. There may only be our version of it, which is essentially our perception. Every day, scientists are making new discoveries that are forcing them to disregard that which they previously thought was true.

The philosopher Thomas Nagel, who has studied how different species view the world, speculates that our current notions of evolution “will come to seem laughable in a generation or two.” Our perception is

not only limited by our senses but by our perspectives and biases as well. We often confuse perception with reality. We mistake how we understand things for the way they really are. Our thoughts and feelings seem real to us so we conclude that they must be true. They must be reality. What if even our most deeply held beliefs about race; religion; sex; gender; guns; global warming; Socialism; Capitalism; Republicans; and Democrats were not true? What if what we think is reality is not reality at all? We often don’t realize how our perceptions cloud reality.

It is extremely important to be aware of the effect that perception has on our beliefs and how this influences our conclusions, decisions, behaviors and actions. Perception is an extremely powerful and important concept. Our reality is shaped by our perception. By controlling our expectations, considering multiple perspectives, and by being aware of our biases, we can control our perception and see reality more clearly. You need to try to see reality as clearly and objectively as possible, which means that you always need to consider multiple perspectives.

This underscores the need for collaboration. Alternative perspectives are not threats they’re assets.

THE URGENT NEED FOR EMPATHY IN TODAY’S WORLD

In the midst of unprecedented times, our world stands at a critical juncture. The convergence of politics, money, and religion, coupled with the pervasive influence of social media, has brought us to a point where society’s empathy seems to be diminishing. We live in an era where misinformation is rampant, and the platforms meant to connect us often dictate what we can or cannot see, further dividing us. As someone deeply entrenched in the realms of personal development and human potential, I feel compelled to address these pressing issues and call for a shift towards greater empathy and elevated consciousness.

THE INFLUENCE OF POLITICS, MONEY, AND RELIGION

Our upbringing and the systems we live in shape our perspectives and interactions. Obviously power, politics, money, and religion are powerful forces that have historically influenced societal values and individual behaviors. However, the current landscape is one of polarization and extremism. Politics has become increasingly divisive, with parties more focused on winning than on governing for the common good. Economic disparities are widening, creating a sense of inequality and injustice. Religion, which should be a source of comfort and community, is often used to justify exclusion and conflict.

THE AGE OF MISINFORMATION

In this digital age, information is more accessible than ever. Yet, paradoxically, we are also drowning in misinformation. Fake news, AI adverts, proliferate at an alarming rate, often designed to provoke emotional reactions and further entrench divisive beliefs. The challenge is not just the presence of false information, but its ability to spread so quickly and widely, sowing discord and mistrust. This phenomenon undermines our ability to engage in rational discourse and make informed decisions.

WE MUST CULTIVATE EMPATHY, NOT JUST AS INDIVIDUALS BUT AS A COLLECTIVE SOCIETY.

BY EMBRACING EMPATHY AND STRIVING TO ELEVATE OUR CONSCIOUSNESS, WE CAN COUNTER THE FORCES THAT SEEK TO DIVIDE US

THE ROLE OF SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS

Social media was once heralded as a tool for connection and democratization of information. However, it has increasingly become a double-edged sword. Algorithms dictate what we see based on our previous interactions, creating echo chambers that reinforce our biases. This selective exposure limits our understanding of diverse perspectives and reduces our capacity for empathy. Instead of fostering open dialogue, social media often amplifies the most extreme voices, leading to heightened polarization.

Moreover, the rise of censorship and content moderation on these platforms adds another layer of complexity. While there is a need to control harmful content, the line between moderation and suppression of free speech is becoming increasingly blurred. This control over information flow can lead to a homogenized view of the world, stifling critical thinking and individual expression.

THE HISTORICAL CONTEXT

History provides numerous examples of what happens when societies lack empathy and are driven by division. The rise of totalitarian regimes, civil wars, and genocides are stark reminders of the consequences of extreme polarization and dehumanization. These historical lessons underscore the importance of empathy, compassion, and the recognition of our shared humanity in preventing such atrocities.

THE PATH FORWARD: EMBRACING EMPATHY AND ELEVATING CONSCIOUSNESS

In light of these challenges, it is clear that we need a profound shift in how we interact with one another. We must cultivate empathy, not just as individuals but as a collective society. Empathy allows us to ee the world through the eyes of others, fostering understanding and reducing conflict. It is the antidote to the fear and hatred that drive extremism.

To elevate our consciousness, we must be intentional about our actions and thoughts. This involves questioning our own biases, seeking out diverse perspectives, and engaging in meaningful conversations. Education plays a crucial role in this process, equipping individuals with the tools to critically evaluate information and engage in empathetic dialogue.

THE ROLE OF PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

As an advocate for personal development, I believe that individual growth is the cornerstone of societal change. By working on ourselves, we can influence those around us and create a ripple effect of positive change. Personal development encourages self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and resilience—qualities that are essential in navigating today’s complex world.

Through initiatives like The Best You, we can equip individuals with the skills to communicate effectively, resolve conflicts, and lead with empathy. These are not just professional skills but life skills that can transform communities and, ultimately, the world.

CONCLUSION

The challenges we face today are daunting, but they are not insurmountable. By embracing empathy and striving to elevate our consciousness, we can counter the forces that seek to divide us. It is a collective effort that requires each of us to look beyond our differences and recognize our shared humanity. Together, we can build a more compassionate, understanding, and harmonious world.

As we move forward, let us remember that the power to change the world lies within us. By cultivating empathy and elevating our consciousness, we can create a future where love, understanding, and unity prevail. This is the vision that drives me, and I invite you all to join me on this transformative journey.

CHOOSE THE RSVP PAUSE

We’ve all been there, haven’t we? That moment when an envelope arrives, carrying the unmistakable weight of an invitation with an opportunity inside. Feeling excited, you open the invite. Beneath elegant calligraphy and a touch of gilded edges, lies the quintessential request: “RSVP, which in French is “Répondez, s’il vous plait”— “Respond, please.”

It seems simple enough, right? An invitation to a love occasion, business event, or a friend’s celebration. Let’s dig deeper. What if we told you this elegant acronym, RSVP, holds a profound lesson for our daily personal and professional lives? A lesson in the delicate art of “responding vs. reacting.” Truly the difference-maker in the outcome of a challenging situation.

Picture this: You’re at work, wrapping up a challenging team project and dreaming of your well-deserved one-week break. Just a couple of hours left in your day, your boss storms into your office with frenetic energy, like a Category 5 hurricane, all up-in-arms, dumping a mountain of lastminute tasks on your desk. His tone implies the fate of the universe rests on you urgently finishing these reports for a last-minute deadline, due for a morning meeting that you won’t be in. Instantly, you feel a rush of frustration, your pulse quickening, fingers tightening around your pen and even without thinking you blurt out, “Oh come on, you know I’m leaving on a holiday this evening. No way

this can happen today.” Your boss says, “I know you will figure it out, you always do, and as he’s walking away, he says as his voice trails off, “thanks.” This is a great example of both sides being reactive.

Maris: As a new vice president in my twenties, this scene happened to me early in my leadership development journey. I lost a staff person over it who quit, due to my reaction. A constant lesson on so many levels decades later. My boss, also the company owner and not a nurturing type, was in reaction to what he was asked to deliver and then I reacted poorly to his demands. Well things went from bad to worse and a staff person on my team resigned. I could have reframed the moment and seen it as how much he trusted and counted on me.

Reaction is immediate, instinctual, and often driven by anxiety, irritation and emotions triggered by past fears, dramas, or traumas, all leading to a two second action that can change everything in your business and personal relationships! My internal alarm system went off, “Warning!

Stress!” and with past fears of “not good enough,” I didn’t have the confidence to believe I could get it done in excellence, and I was frustrated the he assumed it could get done without asking what was possible.

Responding comes from a higher place in our brain — the prefrontal cortex, the realm of reason and thoughtful consideration. It’s where we deliberate, weigh options, make conscious choices and have conscious conversations. We’re in a relationship with someone or something 24/7. We always have a choice! Looking back, I certainly would have taken a different approach, and there were all kinds of possibilities. It can be tough in the heat of the moment.

Ken: We have replayed and used this scenario many times in our work as relational and conscious leadership business strategist, coaches, and trainers. Imagine, the above as if you were Maris in this scenario. Here is another approach to how it could have gone.

WITHIN EACH CHALLENGE LIES AN INVITATION TO RSVP WITH GRACE, THOUGHTFULNESS, AND INTENTION.

You recognize that this was not typical behavior for your boss. When your initial reaction to your boss bubbled up, perhaps involving a mental image of yourself dramatically flipping your desk, you could also have created an image in your mind that he was secretly a superhero fighting crime at night and needing your superpowers to help to save the day (OK that may be a stretch – you get the picture). Instead of letting emotions take control, you stop and while your boss is spouting words at you and bringing up negative energy, you take a deep breath, pause for ten seconds, internally face your frustration (without saying a word), notice your tension, and then choose your response from a calmer place. That’s the RSVP Pause in action. Being the leader you are, you choose to take the high road and realize it’s better to manage the task and more fully address the situation after your trip. Coming from a space of solutions, you smile, nod, and acknowledge to your boss the pressure he must be under and the time challenge of the daunting task. Knowing that a battle in this moment is not the answer, you then address some clarifying questions before he exits and say, “I’ll take a look and get the team on it.” Calmly and quickly enrolling your team members in this challenge and seeing it also as an opportunity, they rally in support and reprioritize other work to complete the urgent project before them. You graciously recognize them, and everything moves smoothly to completion. This is the benefit of responding. When life pushes our buttons, it’s easy to fall into the trap of reaction. Reacting in challenging moments can feel justified, yet often leads to regret, hurt feelings,

and unnecessary repercussions. Responding, on the other hand, fosters respect, connection, communication, understanding, patience, and calm. It’s an invitation to bring our best selves to the table at work and at home.

Let’s take this concept of RSVP a step further. Consider those moments when someone’s words or actions trigger a deep emotional response in you. A colleague’s or friend’s offhanded comment feels like a personal attack, or a partner’s forgetfulness stings sharply. In these moments, every provocation, every piece of criticism, and every stressful situation raises past wounds and fears – and they come rushing forward, seemingly demanding a reaction. What if you treated these triggers as opportunities to delve deeper? When your buttons are pushed, see it from a place of curiosity and avoid judging yourself or the other person. Acknowledge how you’re feeling and F.A.C.E. it (Freely Acknowledge Current Emotion) to understand yourself better. Allow space for reflection. Why does this comment hurt? What fear or past experience is it tapping into? Who might this person remind me of? How can I respond from a place of wisdom rather than pain? If you resist exploring the issues, then they will absolutely persist at work and at home! The impact of reaction can be costly! Recognize that moments from your past do not define your present or your future unless you give it authority and choose it.

When something or someone triggers you, imagine what the other person may be going through as well and accept the

invitation to respond rather than react. We can stop, breathe, and mentally say, “I’m taking the RSVP Pause,” a momentary suspension, where we can shift from automatic reaction to conscious response. Remember, the choices we make all day determine our future.

HOW TO IMPLEMENT THE “RSVP PAUSE”

Assess the Situation: Identify the facts. Ask yourself, “What are the objective facts versus my emotional responses?”

• Identify Your Emotions: Recognize your feelings. Ask, “What emotions am I experiencing and why? Does this situation remind me of something from my past?”

• F.A.C.E. It: Freely Acknowledge Current Emotions, both in the moment and afterward.

• Consider Consequences: Think through different scenarios. What might happen if you react in several ways? What are the benefits of pausing and considering your response?

• Choose Words and Actions: Decide on a response that aligns with your values and desired outcome for the situation.

Do you know what’s really wild? Our brains can do all of the above at lightning speed! It’s like having a superpower built right into our heads. Pretty great, right? Our brains can only process positive or negative thoughts at one time. Words and actions cannot be taken back, so why not choose the positive path at work and home?

This isn’t about suppressing our emotions or pretending everything is fine. It’s about acknowledging and facing what is coming up emotionally, understanding their roots, and intentionally choosing how to express them. When we RSVP to life’s invitations, we’re saying yes to growth, mindfulness, and a more intentional conscious existence.

Think of RSVP as a personal mantra. Next time you feel that surge of emotion — be it anger, frustration, or sadness — take a moment to RSVP Pause, breathe, and respond. It’s a small powerful shift that opens the solution and possibility doors and can transform your interactions personally and professionally from your inner world to the external.

Life will always present us with opportunities to react. Traffic jams, deals gone bad, health scares, snide remarks, forgotten anniversaries — these are the events that test our patience and our character. Within each challenge lies an invitation to RSVP with grace, thoughtfulness, and intention.

When applied to your home and work life, can you imagine what shifts are possible as you and your team and family treat every challenge and trigger as an invitation to respond with the best parts of yourself. In the grand concert of life, the way we respond defines the richness of the music we are creating with our words. Challenge yourself and others around you for one week to take the “RSVP Pause” and Répondez, s’il vous plait! Notice the shift.

FUTURE YOU NOW: EMBRACING CHOICE AND REINVENTION

PETE COHEN

WOMEN IN WELLNESS:

INTERVIEW WITH DR. LISA PARISSI THE BEST YOU

FUTURE YOU NOW: EMBRACING CHOICE AND REINVENTION

In today’s fast-paced world, many of us find ourselves living in default futures, inadvertently creating a future that we may not truly desire. It’s a common phenomenon where we allow our fears to run in the background, shaping our behavior and leading to outcomes that we never intended.

Our entire existence as human beings is governed by our relationship to the future. We constantly strive for outcomes, aims, and objectives. However, it is all too easy to lose sight of our bigger goals and succumb to the temptations that surround us, leaving us feeling stuck in a never-ending cycle of unfulfillment.

So, what is the solution? The key lies in getting to know our future selves. Imagine me as a lawyer representing the person you have the potential to become. My role is to facilitate communication between you and this future self, allowing you to gain clarity and insight into what this person is telling you.

We all face an internal struggle between the part of us that craves comfort, familiarity, and the status quo, and the part that yearns for growth, evolution, and making a meaningful difference. The Romans believed that everyone was born with a genius, a moral authority that resides within each of us. However, in today’s world, it has become all too easy to ignore this inner voice and live life on repeat.

Take a moment to envision your future self sitting down with you, engaged in a conversation about where you are right now, what truly matters, and what actions you can take to create a future that fills you with pride. This meeting with your future self holds immense power and potential.

Reinvention is perhaps the greatest thing any of us can ever accomplish. It is the awakening to the fact that we possess the ability to shape different futures for ourselves. The common thread that binds us all is choice. Now, perhaps it is time to make some different choices.

By embracing the notion of choice and reinvention, we can break free from the confines of default futures and chart a path that aligns with our true desires and aspirations. It is through this conscious decision-making that we can create a future that we are genuinely proud of.

So, I invite you to reflect upon the power of choice and the possibility of reinvention. What choices can you make today that will lead you towards the future you envision? Embrace the opportunity to redefine your path, and remember, the future you desire starts now.

WOMEN IN WELLNESS: INTERVIEW WITH DR. LISA PARISSI

Today, more than ever, wellness is at the forefront of societal discussions. From mental health to physical well-being, women are making significant strides in bringing about change, introducing innovative solutions, and setting new standards. Despite facing unique challenges, they break barriers, inspire communities, and reshape the definition of health and wellness.

In this Women in Wellness series, we are talking to women doctors, nurses, nutritionists, therapists, fitness trainers, researchers, health experts, coaches, and other wellness professionals to share their stories and insights. As a part of this series, we had the pleasure of interviewing Dr. Lisa Parissi.

Dr. Parissi, a board-certified Chiropractor specializing in Chiropractic Biophysics, is renowned for her pioneering work in posture correction. Based in Newport Beach, CA, her thriving practice has become a hub for individuals seeking transformative improvements in posture and subsequent enhancements in their health and well-being. Dr. Parissi has positively impacted numerous lives through her expertise and dedication, guiding her patients toward optimal spinal health and vitality.

Thank you so much for joining us in this interview series! Our readers would love to “get to know you” better. Can you share your “backstory” with us?

As a lifelong athlete and yoga enthusiast, I always felt drawn to healthcare, but I struggled to reconcile the reliance on medications with true health. Watching my

father undergo numerous surgeries and medical procedures despite his declining health left me questioning the conventional approach to healthcare. I was determined to find a better way.

When I discovered chiropractic philosophy during a campus tour, everything clicked. The idea that the body has the innate ability to heal itself if interference is removed resonated deeply with me. It was a revelation.

Tragically, my father’s health journey took a devastating turn when a routine procedure led to a massive stroke, leaving him unable to walk or communicate for almost three years before his passing. His suffering could have been prevented, and witnessing his struggles ignited a passion within me to find a better way for others to age.

I LEARNED THE IMPORTANCE OF PRIORITIZING SELF-CARE AND SETTING BOUNDARIES. I REALIZED THAT I COULD NOT EFFECTIVELY CARE FOR OTHERS IF I WERE NOT TAKING CARE OF MYSELF FIRST.

Today, my father’s experience reminds me of my purpose: to help patients age smarter and avoid unnecessary suffering. This mission drives me forward every day.

Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started your career? What were the main lessons or takeaways from that story?

One of the most interesting and impactful experiences I’ve had since starting my career was working with a patient who had been suffering from chronic back pain for years. This patient, let’s call him John, had tried various treatments and therapies without success and had almost given up hope of finding relief. He came to us at 86 and was very crooked and hunched over.

When John first came to see me, he was skeptical about whether chiropractic care could help him. He had heard mixed reviews and was hesitant to try yet another treatment. However, after a thorough evaluation and discussion of his symptoms, I felt confident I could help him.

Over several weeks, we worked together on a personalized treatment plan that included chiropractic adjustments, spinal rehabilitation, and corrective exercises. Despite initial skepticism, John began to experience significant improvements in his pain and mobility.

This experience was particularly rewarding because it allowed me to witness the transformation in John’s attitude and outlook on life. As his pain diminished and his quality of life improved, he became more optimistic, energetic, and engaged in his own well-being. He even began to look and act younger as he stood taller and felt better. He literally erased 15 years from his looks!

The main lessons I learned from this experience are the power of perseverance and the importance of personalized care. I made a meaningful difference in John’s life by listening to his concerns, understanding his needs, and tailoring a treatment plan specifically for him.

It has been said that our mistakes can be our greatest teachers. Can you share a story about your mistake when you first started? Can you tell us what lesson you learned from that?

Early in my career, I made the mistake of overcommitting myself and neglecting my own well-being. I was eager to make a positive impact and help as many people as possible, but in doing so, I often sacrificed my physical and emotional health.

I was working long hours, seeing a high volume of patients, and taking on additional responsibilities outside of work. I thought I

was being productive and ambitious but was running myself into the ground.

As a result of my overcommitment, I began to experience symptoms of burnout, including exhaustion, irritability, and decreased motivation. I struggled to stay present with my patients and provide the care they deserved. It was a wakeup call that forced me to confront the consequences of neglecting my own wellbeing.

From this experience, I learned the importance of prioritizing self-care and setting boundaries. I realized that I could not effectively care for others if I were not taking care of myself first. I needed to carve out time for rest, relaxation, and rejuvenation to sustain my passion and effectiveness in my work.

By recognizing and learning from my mistakes, I have become a better healthcare provider and a stronger advocate for holistic well-being. I now understand that self-care is not selfish—it’s essential for sustainable success and fulfillment in both personal and professional life.

Let’s jump to our main focus. When it comes to health and wellness, how is your work helping to make a bigger impact in the world?

At Wellness Choice, we focus on posture correction to help people age smarter. Addressing spinal misalignments and promoting optimal posture alleviates pain and discomfort and lays the foundation for long-term health and wellness. Poor posture can contribute to various health issues, including back pain, headaches, and reduced mobility, significantly impacting quality of life as we age.

Through our Chiropractic BioPhysics (CBP) methodology, we take a comprehensive approach to posture correction, addressing the underlying structural imbalances contributing to poor posture. Combining advanced spinal rehabilitation techniques with personalized treatment plans, we help individuals achieve optimal spinal alignment and posture, supporting overall health and vitality.

But our impact goes beyond just physical health. We also support mental and emotional well-being by promoting posture correction and spinal alignment. Research has shown that posture can affect mood, confidence, and even cognitive function, highlighting the importance of maintaining good posture for overall wellness.

Additionally, our commitment to holistic wellness extends beyond posture correction. We offer various services, including nutritional counseling, massage therapy, and

weight management programs, to support individuals on their journey to better health. By addressing wellness’s physical, mental, and emotional aspects, we empower our patients to live their best lives and positively impact the world.

WEALTH & RICHES

FROM DISENGAGED TO DOLLARS: THE TEAM BUILDING PAYOFF

SHARON GROSSMAN, PHD

THE SEVEN ADVERVSARIES OF PROSPERITY BIMAL SHAH

FROM DISENGAGED TO DOLLARS: THE TEAM BUILDING PAYOFF

Did you know that disengaged workers are 18% less productive than their engaged counterparts? Conversely, engaged employees are 23% more profitable than their disengaged colleagues.

Let’s do the math: If someone makes $100k, it costs the company $18k for that person’s disengagement vs. the potential gain of $230,000 if that person is engaged. That’s just one employee! Imagine the untapped potential within your organization if your employees are disengaged compared to the potential gains for your company if the reverse were true.

If engagement leads to productivity and profitability, every business should be asking, “How do we get engaged employees?” That’s a good question. But let’s take it up a notch. How do we get employees to not only be engaged, but collaborate well with each other? Now that’s a “Wheely Good” question!

One of the ways to get teams to communicate and collaborate well is through team building. I address this in my latest book, “Wheely Good Team Building” which takes place at a roller skating rink. It’s a fable about a small-sized company that goes on a retreat guided by Charlotte, an insightful business consultant that’s not afraid to address challenges head-on. Through the story, the reader learns vicariously about employee engagement.

Each day starts with a roller skating exercise. It’s a way to challenge the team and observe how they handle stress, communicate with and support one another, and have their personalities emerge on the rink. We see the difference between the perfectionist and

the daredevil, between the observer and the person who needs reassurance and approval.

Following the morning session, the team goes into a conference room to debrief and reflect on their experiences on and off the rink. That’s where the learning happens.

You certainly don’t have to do a team building retreat on roller skates to get your team engaged. In fact, I don’t even think the idea exists outside this book. The point is to help you the reader start to think creatively about how to bring your employees together, to help them become more self-aware, for them to understand their teammates and learn how to work together.

If you want people to collaborate with one another, they need to learn first to communicate effectively. Any time you put a group of people together, however, you are likely to get conflict. This happens in families all the time. We think the person meant one thing but either we misunderstood or they poorly communicated and things fall through the cracks.

Teams need to establish clear expectations on how to communicate, when to communicate, and how much to communicate. But to do so, they need to trust one another. Trust is the bedrock of any successful team. Without it, collaboration and engagement falter. Trust is built through consistent actions, transparency, and reliability. When

team members trust each other, they are more likely to take risks, share innovative ideas, and support one another through challenges. Building trust takes time, but its impact on team dynamics and overall performance is profound.

Trust builds communication. Communication leads to collaboration. Collaboration increases productivity and profitability. But there’s more to the equation.

In today’s fast-paced business environment, the ability to pivot and respond to change is essential. Easier said than done. That’s because when faced with volatility or ambiguity, people often become anxious. It is natural for us to want to know what to

expect, but for those who are too resistant to taking risks without having all the facts in front of them will become stuck. Teams that embrace adaptability can navigate uncertainties and seize new opportunities more effectively.

Not only do we have to expect the unexpected, we also have to expect that if we don’t take care of ourselves but instead focus solely on work, our performance will suffer along with our well-being. People often think they can’t afford to take breaks, but without balance, we can’t sustain our results long-term.

Companies that care about longevity need to not only provide benefits like sick days

TEAMS NEED TO ESTABLISH CLEAR EXPECTATIONS ON HOW TO COMMUNICATE, WHEN TO COMMUNICATE, AND HOW MUCH TO COMMUNICATE. BUT TO DO SO, THEY NEED TO TRUST ONE ANOTHER.

and vacation days to their employees. They need to actively encourage their employees to take time off from work. Leaders play a pivotal role in modeling and promoting wellbeing practices within their teams.

In the same way that employees often believe they can’t afford to take time off from work, companies often believe they can’t afford to take their employees away for a team building retreat. Quantifying the ROI of team-building activities can be challenging, but several case studies provide evidence of positive returns. For example, a global technology firm found that after implementing a structured team-building program, the company experienced a 10% increase in productivity and a 15% reduction in employee turnover. Another study from the Journal of Applied Psychology found that team-building interventions led to a significant increase in team performance, with an average ROI of over 200%.

How can this be, you might wonder, especially since these retreats are as short as a half-day to just a few days at most?

Think about the last time you went on vacation with your family. Normally, you might see each other for a couple of hours a day, but on vacation, you’re all together 24 hours a day.

Similarly, on a team building retreat, not only are you together, but you’re together in

a structured format. You’re actively working on skills, talking about things you otherwise wouldn’t be talking about. Just like in therapy, bringing up these topics can help you get to the root of the issue. When we communicate, we understand. When we understand, we can empathize. When we empathize, we connect. That’s engagement.

If that weren’t enough, engagement also increases innovation and creativity. Teambuilding exercises often involve problemsolving and creative thinking tasks. Brainstorming gets employees to think outside the box and collaborate on new ideas. The more innovative your company, the more potential you have for creating new products and services that add to your revenue.

When we talk about engagement and productivity, it’s crucial to recognize the importance of minimizing distractions. In today’s world, constant notifications and interruptions can derail productivity and focus. Implementing strategies to minimize these distractions, such as setting clear communication protocols and designated quiet times, can significantly enhance employee efficiency and satisfaction. This helps create an environment where deep work and creativity can flourish, ultimately contributing to better performance and innovation.

Prioritizing effectively is another cornerstone of a productive team. Teams

that can clearly identify and focus on their most important tasks are far more efficient. Using tools like the Eisenhower Matrix to categorize tasks by urgency and importance can help teams stay on track. Clear prioritization reduces overwhelm and ensures that the team’s efforts are aligned with the organization’s strategic goals, leading to better outcomes and a higher ROI on their work.

Effective scheduling strategies can also make a big difference. Encouraging the use of time-blocking techniques and allowing for flexible work hours can help employees manage their time better. Flexibility can accommodate different personal rhythms and peak productivity times, making the team more adaptable and resilient. This approach can lead to increased satisfaction and reduced burnout, ensuring that employees remain engaged and productive over the long term.

Aligning culture and goals is vital for ensuring that every team member feels a sense of purpose and direction. When the organizational culture supports the company’s goals, it creates a cohesive and motivated workforce. Regularly revisiting and communicating the company’s mission and values helps reinforce this alignment, making it easier for employees to see how their individual contributions make a difference. This sense of purpose can drive higher engagement and better performance.

I firmly believe that when companies invest in team-building and fostering a supportive work environment, that it pays off significantly. Trust, communication, adaptability, well-being, balance, focus, prioritization, effective scheduling, and cultural alignment all contribute to creating a high-performing team. These elements not only enhance productivity and profitability but also ensure that employees are engaged, innovative, and committed to the organization’s success.

Ultimately, investing in your team’s engagement and collaboration capabilities is not just a nice-to-have; it’s a strategic imperative that drives long-term success. The ROI from such investments, as evidenced by various studies, is substantial. Increased productivity, reduced turnover, enhanced innovation, and better overall team performance are just some of the tangible benefits. So what are you waiting for? Get rolling!

THE SEVEN ADVERVSARIES OF PROSPERITY

In our journey towards prosperity, we encounter numerous adversaries. These adversaries can rapidly deplete your wealth, often faster than you can accumulate it.

ADVERSARY #1: ABSENCE OF PLANNING AND DISCIPLINE

Without a systematic approach to financial decision-making and the discipline to stick to it, wealth accumulation becomes a daunting task. Every decision we make, from choosing an investment to deciding where to dine, has financial implications.

The next step is to implement the threebucket cash flow system.

LIFESTYLE ACCOUNT:

This is where you pay your bills. Only the amount allocated for lifestyle expenses in your budget should go in, and any surplus at the end of the month can be transferred to the Planning account or used for leisure.

What Goes In: Only the amount that you have arrived in your budget as a lifestyle account.

What Goes Out: This is an account where you pay all your bills. It should not include

your retirement plan contributions, IRA contributions, contributions towards your cash-value life insurance, investment accounts, or any type of savings or planning. If after the spending, there is money left at the end of the month, it can either be transferred to the Planning account, or you can go have some fun.

PLANNING ACCOUNT:

This is where all your planning takes place.

What Goes In: Paychecks over what your lifestyle is or any money you receive more than what’s needed for your lifestyle.

What Goes Out: All your future retirement planning, education and retirement assets, and and quarterly monitoring is meaningless.

WAGE ACCOUNT (EMERGENCY ACCOUNT):

This account holds your emergency funds, equivalent to six months of wages. You need to title your emergency account as

a Wage account as Wages of up to six months cannot be garnished from creditors (with some exceptions).

What Goes In: Direct Deposit of your paychecks or your net pay-check

What Goes Out: Only transfers to your Lifestyle and Planning account.

Planning for security against these enemies of wealth is a foundation to being wealthy (Wealth + SecuritY = WealthY). The alphabet “y” in wealthy comes when your wealth is secured from these seven enemies and you can call your own.

ADVERSARY #2: DEBT

Debt is often misunderstood. Some advocate for a debt-free life, while others see the benefits of leveraging debt. The key is understanding the two key rules below:

• Rule #1: Debt to Liquidity Ratio: At a minimum, you should maintain at least 10 percent liquidity to debt, and 25 percent is excellent.

• Rule #2: Differentiating Good Debt and Bad Debt. Good Debt is debt where it is in the single digits and after taking a tax deduction on the interest, you are between 5-7 percent of net interest, if rule # 1 of liquidity is followed.

ADVERSARY #3: TAXES:

Minimizing tax liability is crucial. To ensure you’re paying the least necessary tax, work with a team of professionals, including a Certified Public Accountant, Independent Third-Party Administrator, Attorneys, Independent Insurance agents, Benefits Experts, and Independent Financial Advisors.

ADVERSARY #4: UNEXPECTED EVENTS:

Life is unpredictable, and unexpected events can turn your world upside down. Having the right knowledgeable team can often help you structure creative strategies on how to pay for the insurance, resulting in a net low or even zero out-of-pocket cost for the insurance.

ADVERSARY #5: LOSSES:

The best way to increase your wealth is to minimize losses. Understanding market cycles and having a diversified investment portfolio can help mitigate risks. Also, someone shouldn’t put their foundational retirement assets and education funding assets at very high risk.

• Rule #1: Answer the following question: What is the monthly income I would want to have if I were at my desired retirement age today and what funds need to be set aside for education?

• Rule #2: Past Performance is neither an indication nor a guarantee of future results: The selection of mutual funds should be based on fees, portfolio manager tenure, asset allocation, turnover ratio, and history that goes for a long time, 10 years is good and beyond 25 years along with a portfolio manager tenure of 20 years or more is great.

• Rule #3: Asset Allocation is the key and diversification is for the uneducated. You could be diversified and yet not have proper asset allocation. You may even have repetition of the same type of holdings in different funds or even the same stocks or bonds in different funds.

ADVERSARY #6: LAWSUITS

Protecting your assets from lawsuits is crucial. Work with a good attorney to devise the best asset protection plan for your needs. In addition, getting a second opinion is as important.

ADVERSARY #7: UNINTENDED HEIRS & SEPARATION

Legacy planning is important to ensure your assets go to the intended beneficiaries. Also, maintaining a happy and lasting marital relationship is crucial as separation can lead to a split of assets.

Separation: Divorce is worse than Death. So, it is very important to first work towards making sure you have a very happy and ever-lasting marital relationship. If the inevitable must happen, most of the time the assets get split right down the middle.

IN CONCLUSION

Understanding and addressing these seven adversaries can help safeguard your wealth and ensure a prosperous future. Remember, the journey to wealth requires planning, discipline, and constant vigilance against these adversaries.

THE THREE WAVES OF WELLNESS:

A COMPREHENSIVE GUIDE TO BRAIN HEALTH

In the realm of holistic health and wellness, light, sound, and vibration have pioneered a revolutionary approach. Since 1986, we have used this method to maintain and enhance brain health through what I call the “Three Waves of Wellness.” This framework integrates diet, movement, and brain fitness to foster optimal cognitive function and overall well-being. This article explores these three waves, providing practical tips and scientific insights into how each wave contributes to brain health.

THE FIRST WAVE: DIET. YOU CAN’T OUTTHINK A BAD DIET

The saying “You can’t outthink a bad diet” underscores the critical role nutrition plays in brain health. The brain, a highly metabolic organ, requires a constant supply of nutrients to function optimally. Poor dietary choices can lead to inflammation, oxidative stress, and impaired cognitive function. Conversely, a diet rich in brain-boosting foods can enhance cognitive performance, protect against neurodegenerative diseases, and improve overall mental clarity.

BRAIN FOODS AND TIPS

OMEGA-3 FATTY ACIDS

Omega-3 fatty acids, particularly those found in fatty fish like salmon, mackerel, and sardines, are crucial for maintaining the structural integrity of brain cells. They support synaptic plasticity, which is essential for learning and memory.

Tip: Aim to include fatty fish in your diet at least twice a week. If you are vegetarian or vegan, consider flaxseeds, chia seeds, and walnuts as alternative sources.

ANTIOXIDANTS

Berries, such as blueberries, strawberries, and blackberries, are rich in antioxidants like flavonoids. These compounds combat oxidative stress and inflammation, which can damage brain cells.

Tip: Add a handful of berries to your breakfast cereal, smoothie, or snack for a brain-boosting treat.

HEALTHY FATS

Avocados, nuts, and olive oil provide healthy monounsaturated fats that support brain health by improving blood flow and reducing inflammation.

Tip: Use olive oil as your primary cooking oil and snack on a small handful of nuts daily.

VITAMINS AND MINERALS

Leafy greens like spinach, kale, and broccoli are packed with vitamins and minerals, including vitamin K, lutein, and folate, which are linked to slower cognitive decline.

Tip: Incorporate a variety of leafy greens into your meals, such as in salads, smoothies, or as a side dish.

HYDRATION

Staying hydrated is essential for brain function. Even mild dehydration can impair cognitive abilities.

Tip: Drink at least eight glasses of water daily and consider foods with high water content, such as cucumbers and watermelon.

THE SECOND WAVE: MOVEMENT. CONNECTING THE BRAIN AND BODY

Movement is not only beneficial for physical health but also crucial for cognitive function. Engaging in regular physical activity enhances brain health by increasing blood flow, reducing inflammation, and promoting the release of neurotrophic factors that support neuron growth and survival.

YOGA

Yoga combines physical postures, breath control, and meditation. It enhances brain function by promoting relaxation, reducing stress, and improving mental clarity.

Tip: Incorporate a daily yoga routine, even if it’s just for 10-15 minutes. Focus on poses that enhance balance and flexibility, such as Tree Pose (Vrksasana) and Warrior II (Virabhadrasana II).

TAI CHI

Tai Chi, a form of martial arts, emphasizes slow, deliberate movements and deep breathing. It improves balance, reduces stress, and enhances cognitive function by fostering a mind-body connection.

Tip: Practice Tai Chi in the morning to start your day with clarity and calm. Joining a local class or following online tutorials can help you get started.

THE 60UP BALANCE BOARD

The 60uP Balance Board is a unique tool designed to improve balance, coordination, and cognitive function, especially in older adults. By challenging the body to maintain balance, it stimulates the brain’s proprioceptive system, enhancing neural connections.

Tip: Use the 60uP Balance Board for 10-15 minutes daily. Start with basic exercises and gradually progress to more challenging movements as your balance improves.

HOW MOVEMENT IMPROVES BRAIN FUNCTION

Physical activity increases the production of Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF), a protein that supports the growth and survival of neurons. It also enhances the brain’s plasticity, allowing it to adapt and form new connections more efficiently. Regular exercise has been shown to improve memory, attention, and executive function, making it a critical component of brain health.

THE THIRD WAVE: BRAIN FITNESS. LIGHT, SOUND, AND VIBRATION

Brain fitness involves using light, sound, and vibration to stimulate and enhance brain function. These modalities can improve cognitive abilities, promote relaxation, and support overall mental health.

BRAINTAP®: PROVEN SCIENCE AND NEUROPLASTICITY

BrainTap, is the device I created that combines light, sound, and guided meditation to enhance brain fitness. It uses specific frequencies and patterns to promote relaxation, improve focus, and stimulate neuroplasticity—the brain’s ability to reorganize itself by forming new neural connections. BrainTap uses specific neuro algorithms in our over 2000 sessions combined with guided imagery to produce very specific health results in assisting your brain to do what it does best… heal.

Tip: Incorporate BrainTap sessions into your daily routine. Consistency is key to experiencing the full benefits of this technology.

THE “SAVING YOUR BRAIN” STUDY

In a groundbreaking study led by Dr. Kelly Miller, the “Saving Your Brain” program demonstrated the profound impact of increasing brain energy on cognitive health. Participants, who were initially on the dementia spectrum, engaged in a six-week regimen that included BrainTap sessions. The results were remarkable: all participants were removed from the dementia spectrum and returned to an active lifestyle. You can learn more about this study in the book, “Saving Your Brain” by DR. Kelly Miller.

Study Highlights

• Duration: 6 weeks

• Interventions: Brain Tap sessions, dietary changes and physical exercise.

• Outcomes: Significant improvement in cognitive function, memory, and overall brain energy

Building Neuroplasticity

Neuroplasticity is the brain’s ability to change and adapt in response to new experiences. BrainTap promotes neuroplasticity by using specific frequencies of light and sound that target different brainwave states, such as

alpha, beta, delta, and theta waves. This stimulation enhances the brain’s capacity to form new neural pathways, improving cognitive function and emotional resilience.

Tip: Combine BrainTap sessions with activities that challenge your brain, such as learning a new skill or engaging in creative hobbies, to maximize neuroplasticity.

The Three Waves of Wellness—diet, movement, and brain fitness—offer a comprehensive approach to maintaining and enhancing brain health. By integrating nutritious foods, regular physical activity, and innovative brain fitness technologies like BrainTap, you can support cognitive function, promote neuroplasticity, and improve overall well-being.

FINAL TIPS FOR IMPLEMENTING THE THREE WAVES OF WELLNESS

1. DIET:

Include brain-boosting foods like fatty fish, berries, nuts, and leafy greens in your diet. Stay hydrated and avoid processed foods and trans fats.

2. MOVEMENT:

Engage in regular physical activities like yoga, Tai Chi, and balance exercises using tools like the 60uP Balance Board. Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise most days of the week.

3. BRAIN FITNESS:

Incorporate BrainTap sessions into your daily routine to enhance neuroplasticity and cognitive function. If you are not a BrainTap user you can start your journey with a free 14 day trial at www.BrainTap. com. Challenge your brain with new skills, hobbies, and creative activities.

IMPACT WITHOUT BURNOUT DURING THE AI REVOLUTION

In the midst of the AI disruption, it is essential to approach this transformative technology with a human-centric focus. We can unlock unprecedented levels of impact by harnessing the power of AI to enhance our humanity and create conditions to increase our general well-being. This article explores how businesses and individuals can proactively engage with AI, fostering a future where technology and humanity thrive together. The key lies in understanding the relationship between AI and human potential and taking action to create a more sustainable and fulfilling future of work.

THE INTERSECTION OF HUMANITY AND TECHNOLOGY

Think about our human ancestors creating stone tools or the technological advances necessary to start the first agricultural settlements and cities. Through the ages, technology has been a catalyst for change, shaping how we live and work.

As we stand on the brink of an AI-driven future, it is crucial to recognize the potential for exponential growth and as well as disruption. The rapid advancements in AI have the potential to transform industries, automate tasks, and redefine the nature of work. While this presents immense opportunities for increased efficiency and innovation, it also raises concerns about job displacement and the well-being of employees. To truly harness the power of AI, we must approach it with a humancentric mindset, prioritizing the needs and potential of individuals and teams.

UNLOCKING HUMAN POTENTIAL IN THE AGE OF AI

To fully realize the benefits of AI, we must understand the dynamics of human potential. For instance, we can assess where an organization’s workforce falls into four quadrants created by two crossing dimensions or lines:

1. A VERTICAL LINE REPRESENTING OUR ENERGY LEVELS:

From depleted or exhausted at the bottom of the line to “in the flow” of optimal performance at the top of that line.

2. A HORIZONTAL LINE REPRESENTING OUR CONNECTION LEVELS:

From disconnected to the point of cynicism on the left of the line to “on purpose” at the

right of the line. This model of energy and connection creates four distinct zones: Engaged (top right), Disengaged (top left), Overextended (lower right), and Burned out (lower left).

When employees are engaged, they are energized, motivated, and connected to their work and purpose, able to create a significant impact through their work. In contrast, disengagement leads to a lack of motivation and disconnection from one’s role, which lowers the overall workforce results. Overextension occurs when employees (and leaders) are still connected with the purpose but slowly burning out due to excessive demands and not meeting their potential. Burned out, the most severe state, results from prolonged stress, exhaustion, and disconnection, often leading to turnover and health issues.

By bringing more people into the zone of optimal engagement, organizations can tap into the full potential of their workforce while preventing the detrimental effects of burnout. This requires a proactive approach to assessing employee wellbeing, identifying the root causes of

disengagement, overwhelm, and burnout, and implementing strategies to foster resilience, autonomy, and purpose and create a culture of high performance, work sustainability, and innovation.

THE PATH TO MEANINGFUL AND SUSTAINABLE TRANSFORMATION

Achieving meaningful and sustainable transformation amid the acceleration of change that AI brings requires a holistic approach, addressing human potential at three levels: individual, group/team, and systemic.

INDIVIDUAL LEVEL:

At the individual level, cultivating a growth mindset and embracing continuous learning are crucial for adapting to the evolving landscape of AI. Encouraging selfleadership and prioritizing mental fitness can help employees develop the resilience and adaptability needed to thrive in rapid change. Moreover, providing opportunities for employees to build AI literacy and skills can empower them to leverage technology effectively and collaborate with AI systems.

GROUP/TEAM LEVEL:

Fostering a culture of collaboration, trust, and open communication is essential for unlocking the potential of teams in the age of AI. Aligning team goals with organizational values, mission, and vision creates a sense of purpose and direction. Encouraging experimentation, innovation, and learning from failures can help teams adapt and grow in the face of technological advancements. By creating an environment that supports psychological safety and inclusivity, organizations can harness their teams’ diverse perspectives and skills to drive meaningful impact.

SYSTEMIC LEVEL:

At the systemic level, embracing complexity and interconnectedness in decision-making is crucial for navigating the AI disruption. Organizations must position themselves as forces for good, prioritizing ethical considerations and societal impact in their AI adoption strategies. Developing agile and adaptive systems that can respond to the rapid pace of change is essential for staying ahead of the curve. By fostering a culture of work sustainability and long-term thinking, organizations can ensure that the benefits of AI are distributed equitably and contribute to the well-being of all stakeholders.

Let’s consider the systems within which we live (represented by the ellipse in the image – Systemic Level).

In addition to self-development (represented by the stick figure – Individual Level), we leverage the power of community (represented by the connecting dots – Group/Team Level).

We can unlock our human potential exponentially (represented by Hn).

ABCS FOR IMPACT WITHOUT BURNOUT

To harness the power of AI while prioritizing employee well-being, organizations must take proactive steps to prevent burnout and foster work sustainability.

A. ASSESS:

Regularly evaluating employee well-being and engagement levels is crucial for identifying areas of concern and taking timely action. Organizations should assess workload, control, reward, community, fairness, and values to uncover the root causes of burnout. By providing resources and support for mental health and resilience, organizations can create a safe and supportive environment that promotes well-being.

B. BOOST CHOICE OPPORTUNITIES:

Empowering employees with choice and autonomy can enhance motivation, creativity, and job satisfaction. Encouraging life-work integration and creative work arrangements can help everybody maintain a healthy balance and prevent burnout. Fos-

tering a culture of trust, accountability, and self-leadership can increase engagement and productivity.

C. CULTIVATE WORK SUSTAINABILITY:

Prioritizing long-term work sustainability over short-term gains is essential for creating a future-proof organization. Investing in employee growth, development, and wellbeing demonstrates a commitment to their long-term success and fosters loyalty and retention. Creating a sense of purpose and meaning in work, where employees understand how their contributions align with the greater mission, can inspire intrinsic motivation and resilience.

THE HUMAN-AI PARTNERSHIP

As we navigate the age of AI, it is essential to recognize that humans are the key to unlocking its full potential. We can create a future where both thrive by fostering a partnership between humans and AI.

AUGMENTING HUMAN CAPABILITIES:

AI has the power to augment human capabilities, freeing us from repetitive tasks and allowing us to focus on higher-level, creative, and strategic work. By leveraging AI insights to inform decision-making and drive innovation, organizations can tap into the unique strengths of both humans and machines. Collaborating with AI systems to solve complex problems and explore new opportunities can lead to breakthrough innovations and increased impact.

PRIORITIZING ETHICS AND RESPONSIBILITY:

As AI becomes increasingly integrated into our lives and work, it is crucial to prioritize ethics and responsibility in its development and deployment. Developing ethical frameworks that guide AI decision-making and ensure transparency, accountability, and fairness is essential for building trust and mitigating potential risks. Fostering a culture of responsible AI use and governance, where the well-being of individuals and society is at the forefront, is key to realizing the full potential of AI while safeguarding human values.

CONCLUSION

The AI revolution presents a unique opportunity to redefine how we live and work and create a future where technology and humanity flourish together. By harnessing AI with a human-centric

approach, we can increase impact while preventing burnout and fostering a more sustainable and fulfilling future of work. Through proactive engagement, a focus on human potential, and a commitment to ethics and responsibility, we can shape the trajectory of AI to enhance our humanity and unlock our greatest potential.

The path to humane AI begins with recognizing that we, as humans, hold the key to shaping this transformative journey. By embracing a growth mindset, fostering collaboration and inclusivity, and prioritizing well-being and work sustainability, we can create a future where AI augments our capabilities and empowers us to achieve more than ever before. It is up to us to seize this opportunity and build a world where technology catalyzes human flourishing and where the partnership between humans and AI propels us toward a brighter, more impactful future.
