Welcome to the digital version of The Bikers Trading Post The Bikers Trading Post is now being published monthly as a digital magazine. We have been making some big changes. Now, instead of being a one man show, we're teaming up with others to make us more of a community magazine. This will let us cover more and publish a lot more of all the events that you are going to. We are a local publication and dealing with local happenings. Yes, we will cover a few of the bigger shows that a lot of you follow but we understand you have no interest in a poker run in Kentucky. We will not be limited to the per page cost like in the normal printed publications. You can download the whole magazine and save it and you may take it to a printer and print part of it or all of it. This month we are putting in two calendars, one vertical and one horizontal. Most of the articles will have links and they are in red and labeled. If you click on that link it will take you to the albums of photos or a video slideshow from the event and you are welcome to right click in them to download and use for any non-commercial use. Please give us credit if you put them on your pages. You can take them and get prints of you and your friends if they were at one of the events that we covered. We have a facebook page that if you click on it will take you to a current list of the events that are happening in our area. At this time we have listed over 415 events past and present for 2015 in Western Pa. https://www.facebook.com/thebikerstradingpost Please check it out and friend us, and please feel free to share anything on that page you want to. Now with that all being said this is a biker magazine. We are covering the bike life, style and events. We work hard to try and keep things clean but if something is happening in the background and we miss it, OH WELL. If you are offended by off color jokes and photos of people getting crazy and photos of girls on bikes you are at the wrong place. November is a very slow month for the bike life. If you have anything happening please let me know at thebikerstradingpost@gmail.com

Rambling Thoughts.

This has been a great month with so much happening. It is great to get out and about and spend time with so many really good people. I have been on the run most nights and all of the weekends, so there is no such thing as what they call rest. I would not want it any other way. The bike is torn apart in the garage and one more month of not even touching it. If you have anything happening please let me know and if I can I will come out and cover it. You can keep up with all the events as we post daily on our Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/thebikerstradingpost. Our Facebook is the largest source of happenings in the Western Pennsylvania area so join in. We are also working on a source to advertise your bikes where it will be local with a national connection. Follow us here or on Facebook for that to get on line.

Poker Runs Poker runs can be a great event to get a good group of people together and to also raise money for a local cause. We are listing as many of the events like this that we can and trying to be a part of the community. In 2015 we listed over 400 local events on the Facebook page and we are listing many of them in here and also under the events page on our website. Look for the events listed by Date, then we have listed where and the type of event it is. Under that it will have in red either information, flyer or website and if you click on that it will take you to more information on that event.

Upcoming Poker Runs

We are repeating our poker run guide again this month. It is just a few hints for people doing the first one, but it will also have a link to a list of over 400 runs that we had listed last year. Check it out to see if any of them cross We are looking for people who go to a lot of the events and paths with the dates you are planning. If you have would like to do sales and also cover a few events. We are trying to keep the areas to about one county each, so after you questions e-mail or call the people that ran them last year and make sure that you are not crossing paths and get set up you could cover it in 2 or 3 days a month. We competing with each other. are offering a great sales incentive so if you are looking for a little money on the side please get in touch with us. We will also be looking for bikes to feature in the magazine along with models for on the bikes. This was a great month. I was able to go to a lot of Anyone that is going to an event and wants to share it with us different happenings in the sounding area. The International Motorcycle Show, The Easyriders Show and please e-mail us at thebikerstradingpost@gmail.com. If you many more. Keep your eyes out when you are out and would like to join us in sales, covering events and getting about because we are on the roll and will be at as many published please let us know. events as we can. If you would like to cover events please let us know. thebikerstradingpost@gmail.com

Out and about

Had a great time when I stopped down in Beaver Falls for the Chili Cook-Off at McMahon s Cycle Sales. There was a full house and plenty of chili and other foods to go around. There were twelve Chili entries and one vegetarian chili. I did try all but one and when they titled it You will regret it later chili I thought I needed to stay away from that one. My choice was #3 Smokin Texas Chili and it had a real full smoke taste and a better then normal quality of meat. It was totally different that any other chili there. My second choice was #11 Tammy s Chili and it had a taste that reminded me of my moms when I was a kid. The official winners were: First Place: Peggy Krut, Second Place: Anthony DiCicco and Third place: Bryan Fabyanic . See more photos HERE There was also plenty of other food and drinks and of course the always friendly crew that is always there. Looking forward to their next event. See here for more information on the ST. PATRICKS DAY PARTY March 12, 2016.

A quick guide to help in the organizing motorcycle runs. Organization is the biggest key. Start by planning as far ahead as you can. Many of the really good runs will go on the same weekend every year. The second Saturday of July is especially popular. This will not only help the riders planning, but also helps other people planning runs to know ahead of time so they do not conflict. Also, on the organization level you need to follow up on everything that you do. If you talk to someone about doing something for it, you have to give them a reminder call a week or two ahead of time and confirm, then two days ahead of time call and thank them for their efforts in making it a success. That way if they did forget, you are reminding them. Picking stops. One of the biggest complaints and problems I hear from people is the chosen stops. Many times the runs will leave a bar, go two miles, and stop at another bar. Some of the best runs I have seen are where they start at a park, fire hall or some place of that type, with coffee and donuts. Then first stop is a bar, second stop is a motorcycle retail location, third stop a bar, and so on. That way you get your stops in and the riders are not spending the day drinking. Also, you want to plan stops that are easy to get to. When you pick the stops, talk to them ahead of time so they can plan on having enough people to service the riders. Most places love to have 50 to 100 people stopping in spending money, so you can ask for some type of giveaway even if it is just bar t-shirts or a donation. If you do a giveaway, make it so they have to go into the establishment to get a ticket. Lining up the route. Take a lot of care in the route that you choose. Make sure the roads are safe and that the traffic is bearable. If you have a dangerous intersection talk to the local police department and ask for a officer there to help direct traffic. Most of the time they are happy to help. Make sure you have enough spotters for all intersections. The day before the run, drive the route to make sure nothing has happened like tar and chip, or detours. The final stop. Most of the time the final stop will be a dinner. A lot of the lounges and bars will help with the food in exchange for having the drink sales. Follow through because I have seen this type of thing fall through. If you are supplying the food you can add sales of non-rider dinners to help the cause. Advertising. The more the better. There are a lot of inexpensive ways to do it. Flyers. Have as much information on them as you can, but do not overload them. Make them stand out in the crowd. Color is great and sometimes you can even find a sponsor to print them for you. Place them everywhere. Postcards are cheap and so are business cards. I like to have all the stops listed, so the riders not only know where they are going to stop, but it is advertising for the locations. Internet. There are many free ways to advertise on the Internet. Have a nice flyer and get a digital copy of it to spread. Have everyone involved place it on their pages and ask for everyone else to pass it on. It can snowball in no time. www.facebook.com/thebikerstradingpost is our Facebook page and we will list all bike related non-profit items there, on our event page http://www.thebikerstradingpost.com/page11.html and in the issues of the magazine.

The Pittsburgh World of Wheels is the largest motor show in the Pittsburgh area. They are basically a car show with a great custom bike category. Now most of us that like a good custom bike also like a good custom car and there were some world class cars along with the world class bikes. Most of the bikes were local and that made it a even better. It is always fun to go to a show and know many of the builders. I have yet to get the list of the winners. I hope to have them and a little more information next month. You can see part of the bikes at the show here. World of Wheels Photos.

Humor to relieve stress At The Old Pecan Tree On the outskirts of a small town, there was a big, old pecan tree just inside the cemetery fence. One day, two boys filled up a bucketful of nuts and sat down by the tree, out of sight, and began dividing the nuts. "One for you, one for me, one for you, one for me," said one boy. Several dropped and rolled down toward the fence. Another boy came riding along the road on his bicycle. As he passed, he thought he heard voices from inside the cemetery. He slowed down to investigate. Sure enough, he heard, "One for you, one for me, one for you, one for me He just knew what it was. He jumped back on his bike and rode off. Just around the bend he met an old man with a cane, hobbling along. "Come here quick," said the boy, "you won't believe what I heard! Satan and the Lord are down at the cemetery dividing up the souls!" The man said, "Beat it kid, can't you see it's hard for me to walk." When the boy insisted though, the man hobbled slowly to the cemetery. Standing by the fence they heard, "One for you, one for me. One for you, one for me." The old man whispered, "Boy, you've been tellin' me the truth. Let's see if we can see the Lord...?" Shaking with fear, they peered through the fence, yet were still unable to see anything. The old man and the boy gripped the wrought iron bars of the fence tighter and tighter as they tried to get a glimpse of the Lord. At last they heard, "One for you, one for me. That's all. Now let's go get those nuts by the fence and we'll be done...." They say the old man had the lead for a good half-mile before the kid on the bike passed him.

Humor to relieve relieve Humor to stress The Bear Bear Joke: Astride his shiny new 125, Frank was thoroughly excited about going riding in the mountains for the first time. After going only a few miles, Frank was surprised to see what appeared to be a half-acre of brown fur just off the trail ahead. Recognizing it as a huge grizzly bear, Frank nailed the throttle hard, hoping to get by before the bear could react. The bear was too quick, though, and with one leap was totally blocking the trail. Frank had no choice but to stop. "Now that you've disturbed my sleep", said the bear, "you have two choices. Either I maul you to death or we have sex." Frightened beyond belief, Frank decided to bend over. Still sore a week later, Frank vowed revenge. Back to the cycle shop he went, where he traded in the 125 for a hot 250. Soon he was back on the mountain, heading down the trail. It wasn't long at all before he spotted the grizzly again, napping beside the trail. Feeling certain he had the necessary power this time, Frank nailed the throttle and shot ahead. But once again the bear was too quick, and again he blocked the trail. "That was a big mistake, Frank", said the bear. "But, you know the drill. Either I maul you to death or we have sex... rough sex." Fearful for his life, Frank again decided that it would be wise to comply. This time it took weeks before Frank recovered enough to get around. But still outraged at the bear, he traded in the 250 and got the hottest 500 money could buy before heading back to the mountain. Now he could outrun the bear, and now he'd prove who was the master! And with the faster 500 under him, it took no time at all before he looked ahead and saw the huge grizzly again. Frank lowered his head, down shifted, and confidently nailed the throttle hard, rocketing ahead so quickly he was barely able to hang on. Incredibly, however, the bear was quicker still, and Frank had no choice but to come to a sliding halt in front of the bear now blocking the trail. A chill ran up his spine as he waited for the bear to speak. C'mon, Frank", said the bear. "Admit it. You don't come here to trail ride any more, do you?"

Just like the first robin that you see in the spring, this is the first sign of movement in the biker world in Western PA. This event at the Perryopolis Auto Auction Building is put on by the Second Chance MC and is always a great show. This year we had great weather and I think they had both the the best turn-out of vendors and buyers. Two of the best sights at the show were the 1953 Harley Davidson FL and the 1965 Cushman Super Silver Eagle that was brought by David Wasserman from Morgantown WV.

Progressive International Motorcycle Show The Bikers Trading Post staff had the pleasure of attending the 2016 Progressive International Motorcycle Show at the IX Center in Cleveland, Ohio. This is billed as the world s largest motorcycle show tour, and it certainly is. The sheer size of this event was unbelievable. They filled the IX Center, which is no small feat, with the show advertising nearly a million square feet of vendors. There were vendors from more than 40 different brands, featuring big bike brands like Harley and Royal Enfield, to displays of folding trailers and tire machines. Vendors had all kinds of gear, from helmets to leather, t-shirts, patches, and more. Anything motorcycle related you can think of was present. There was live entertainment throughout the weekend. Sunday we watched the youth band School of Rock, where a group of kids from the School of Rock Performance Program not only learn instruments, but actually play in front of live audiences. Jason Britton and Ian Gaines of the No Limit stunt team rode tricks inside to an audience so large that it was impossible for people in the back to see them. Progressive even sponsored a travelling barber shop where one could have their beard trimmed or get a hot shave with a straight razor by a professional. Makoto Endo painted a large scale motorcycle using chopsticks as a paint brush, and attendees could enter to win a custom painting. And there were giveaways everywhere. Attendees could enter to win several sweepstakes and drawings, with prizes ranging from t-shirts and custom art all the way to brand new motorcycles. The big selling point for the show is that it marks the beginning of the selling season for motorcycles in the region. More than a dozen manufacturers set up incredible displays with concept, pre-production, and current production models of vehicles for people to see. Most had display models that could be sat on, and several had setups that allowed people to start engines, and rev them while the wheels spun with the bike held firmly in place. BMW even had a augmented reality rig, where you could sit on an actual motorcycle fixed in place and wear a helmet that let you drive the bike as if you re in a simulator.

Progressive International Motorcycle Show Quite possibly the largest draw for the show was the J&P Cycles Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Competition, which is a touring competition that makes 10 stops. Local builders at each stop compete, entering nearly 400 bikes in the world s largest motorcycle builder competition. In the 2016 tour, there are more than $100,000 worth of cash and prizes awarded for this competition, ending with the National Championship in chicago, and the prestigious title King of the Builders . The competitors judges the contest around the nation, with top builders in each class winning prizes and one person winning the Peoples Choice award at each stop. Each stop of the tour shows four classes of bikes. The first class is Freestyle, where any type of drive train can enter. Jeremy Cupp of LC Fabrications took first prize here, with a 2015 custom named Seven, as it was the 7th motorcycle produced by LC Fabrications. Wayne Burgess took second place with a 2010 Shovelhead named Spitball Magoo. The Modified Harley class requires a Harley-Davidson engine case and frame. Dell Battle took first place in this category with a 1991 Sportster named 72 Style Sporty, and Demetrius Clark took second place with a 2007 Harley. The Modified Retro class is open to any bike with a drive train from 1984 or earlier. The class requires an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) driveline with a stock, modified, or aftermarket frame. Ed Kubiez worked with The Gasbox to make a 1965 BSA that took first place, and Austin Andrella of Austin Martin Originals took second with a 1969 Triumph named Ole 69 er. The Modified Custom class is for bikes with an OEM engine and frame, although bikes are allowed to modify the neck, tail sections, swing arms, and use wide tire kits. Rich Worley brought the Mad Max Scout, a 2016 Indian Scout, all the way from South Carolina and won first place. Second went to Justin Seely with a 2006 CBR1000rr named Wolverine. Jesse Srpan of Raw Iron Choppers won the Sho Dog and won a solo bag from The Leatherworks as a prize.

Progressive International Motorcycle Show King of the Builders title Seven built by Jeremy Cupp of LC Fabrications

The first place winner of each category went on to Chicago to compete in the National Championship, where Jeremy Cupp won the King of the Builders title, and more than $50,000 in cash and prizes. That is the largest purse for any bike show in the United States, and the title Jeremy won truly is prestigious. To see more on the details of this bike go to a great article by Martin Hodgson on the Pipeburn website. http://www.pipeburn.com/home/2016/01/19/seven-lcfabrications.html

The biker thought about it for a long time. Finally he said, "Lord, I wish that I could understand my wife. I want to know how she feels inside, what she's thinking when she gives me the silent treatment, why she cries, what she means when she says nothing's wrong, and how I can make a woman truly happy."

Joke for the day The Lord and the Biker

A biker was riding along a California beach when suddenly the sky clouded above his head and, in a booming voice, the Lord said, "Because you have tried to be faithful to me in all ways, I will grant you one wish." The biker pulled over and said, "Build a bridge to Hawaii so I can ride over anytime I want." The Lord said, "Your request is materialistic, think of the enormous

The Lord replied, "Do you want two lanes or four on that bridge?"

Guess what I Have Sheila a true biker babe, is a third grade teacher. Ever Tuesday they have show and tell in the class room. Billy always brought a sack with some kind of fruit, and would say guess what I have in the sack teacher. She would respond oh an apple, he would say no an orange or she would say a pair, no a banana. One day he walked by her desk and some liquid dripped out, she tasted the liquid and thought that s familiar. Billy turned to her and said guess what I have in sack today, she said I know you have pickles. He looked a her for a moment wondering and said No its a puppy.

Easyriders Tour 2016 I had the chance to be at the Easyriders Custom Motorcycle show when it rolled into Columbus Ohio on February 20th and 21st. It was an all ages, family friendly event that had some of the wildest and most creative builds in the motorcycle industry along with some great old school builds and antique bikes. This show is is always looked on as the greatest display of custom motorcycles from some of the top backyard builders. It gives them a chance to show their names and compete with some of the largest names in the bike building industry. There was a lot to see there like playing on and off all weekend was Live Music by the Fryed Brothers Band known across the globe as the quintessential biker band, and for true biker entertainment they had Lisa Ligon and the Purrfect Angelz. Known as the Queen of Country Music Videos, Lisa Ligon acted as the Master of Ceremonies at all Easyriders Bike Shows. The Purrfect Angelz, who are mostrecently recognizable as the Flaunt Girls at Full Throttle Saloon in Sturgis [which tragically burned down in the fall of 2015]. Indian Larry who was a true legend in the custom motorcycle world with some of the most mind-bending one-off builds ever created was featured with a selection of his bikes and Paul Yaffe and his crew displayed a multitude of custom bagger parts for sale as well as the debut of Rubber Knucky, a 1940's knucklehead that they ve fused with the signature design that s made Bagger Nation an industry-wide leader. .

Easyriders Tour 2016 My highlight for the weekend was meeting Craig and his crew from Road Hawk Magazine along with hanging with three Pittsburgh bike builders, Ricky Wright whose bike is on the cover of American Bagger April 2016 , Tim Zeliesko with his Bag Tracker that was on the cover and feature of the November issue of The Bikers Trading Post, and Jeff Stalczynski with The Dirti Hooker is in American Bagger February 2016, and came in third place and was also voted the Baddest Bagger in the 2015 Biketoberfest. that brought some world class bikes. When I was shooting for a lot of the street rod magazines I was told by one of the magazines that Western PA. has built some of the highest quality street rods in the industry. You can tell that it has fallen into the the motorcycle scene to. I have been going to this show for years and I feel this was the best turnout ever in the number and quality of Bikes, Vendors and Spectators. Saturday was a full house with the crowd just a little thinner on Sunday. I want to thank the staff of Easyriders for putting on a great event and helping to keep the Motorcycle world alive. Due to an extreme amount of work this week I will not have the photo album ready for this issue and they have not sent me the list of the winners of the show yet, so watch for it next month or watch our Facebook page for more information. Enjoy the photos on here and watch for the rest
