Well, as I write this I have to give in to the fact that winter time has arrived. There are still things to do and most of the Harley dealers have an event at least once a month. Many places are having events for Christmas, but a lot of them are happening on the Saturdays of deer season. Most of the friends I have who ride also hunt. I really wish the dealers took that into consideration. With that being said there is something I see every year. Everyone has upgrades and repairs that they want to have done to their bikes. Most dealers and small shops are slow during the winter, and would love to work with you on them. But, everyone waits till riding season and then are pissed off at the shops because they can not get them in at a reasonable time frame. Please do both of you a favor and talk to your favorite repair shop ahead of time On January 27 - 29, 2017 there is the The Progressive International Motorcycle Show in Cleveland. This is a great way to spend a day and see what is old and see what is new out there. I have never been up there where I did not win something. This event showcases hundreds of the latest street bikes, dirt bikes, cruisers, scooters, and ATVs for new and experienced riders, and gives enthusiasts of all ages the opportunity to check out the latest gear and aftermarket accessories, as well as hours of entertainment. This is one that you do not want to miss. Get a group together, see the show, and grab dinner on the way back. See more here http://www.motorcycleshows.com/city/ohio There is also the Easy Rider Bike Show in Columbus, Ohio on February 11th and 12th at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. This is a great show to attend with some of the greatest bike builds in the country, including some from here in Western Pa. This is another great day trip. See more here http://www.easyridersevents.com/bikeshow-2017columbus.php Like last year, we will be publishing at different times over the winter due to lack of events happening. Follow us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/thebikerstradingpost/ or check out our webpage at www.thebikerstradingpost.com. As always, please ride safe.
For this month we will be changing the events almost daily. Please see our Facebook page or Website to stay informed.

Motorcycle Swap Meet Our annual fall trip to the Yankee Lake Ballroom for the motorcycle swap meet was good time, like always. The weather was perfect and the selection was out of this world. The fall meets very much seem like a buyers market. It is great to see some old friends at this type of event, and also talk to some new people. The inside of the ballroom was full with vendors and the outside has vendors set up further down both side roads than I have ever seen before. Keep your eyes open here for the days and times for the spring meet.

Women and Golf Two women were playing golf. One teed off and watched in horror as her ball headed directly toward a foursome of men playing the next hole. The ball hit one of the men. He immediately clasped his hands together at his groin, fell to the ground and proceeded to roll around in agony. The woman rushed down to the man, and immediately began to apologize. 'Please allow me to help. I'm a Physical Therapist and I know I could relieve your pain if you'd allow me, she told him. 'Oh, no, I'll be all right. I'll be fine in a few minutes,' the man replied. He was in obvious agony, lying in the fetal position, still clasping his hands there at his groin. At her persistence, however, he finally allowed her to help. She gently took his hands away and laid them to the side, loosened his pants and put her hands inside. She administered tender and artful massage for several long moments and asked, 'How does that feel'? Feels great, he replied; but I still think my thumb's broken
2005 Yamaha XVS650 Classic 2005 Yamaha XVS650 Classic, one off hand made exhaust, rear fender custom made for my bike by Front Street Cycles out of Dayton, OH. La Pera springer seat, 12" Burley mini apes hangers, custom open air kit, custom paint was done by Dan at Dan's Auto and Body Repair I saw this bike at The Berg Bar and thought it was really different and a nice change. Growing up in the 70’s it was a never ending challenge to always be changing the look of our rides to make them show our personality. I am liking the look of many of the new homemade customs.
Cemetery Run I had the pleasure to be invited back to the annual Cemetery Run from Castlewood this year. This is a low key run made up of a bunch of friends that all have ties to the Castlewood area. It was started in 1979 in honor of Bob Boyd, who was a local bike mechanic and a friend to all of the bikers in the area. In the 37 years it has expanded to honor others that have passed in their local community. This run started at Six-Packs, then traveled to Graceland Cemetery, went on to Oak Park Cemetery, finishing up at Six-Packs for dinner. Once again this is a great group of local guys showing respect for their fellow man.

Humor to relieve stress Leave it to an Old Biker An older, Gray Beard Biker walked into a Jewelry store one Friday evening with a beautiful young woman at his side. He told the jeweler he was looking for a special ring for his girl friend. The jeweler looked through his stock and brought out a $5,000 ring. The old man said, "No, I'd like to see something more special." At that statement, the jeweler went to his special stock and brought another ring over. "Here's a stunning ring at only $40,000." the jeweler said. The young lady's eyes sparkled and her whole body trembled with excitement. The Grey Beard seeing this said, "We'll take it." The jeweler asked how payment would be made and the biker stated, "By check. I know you need to make sure my check is good, so I'll write it now and you can call the bank Monday to verify the funds and I'll pick the ring up Monday afternoon," he said. Monday morning, the jeweler phoned the biker. "There's no money in that account." "I know," said the old Gray Beard, "But let me tell you about my weekend....."
Husband and Wife Christmas Shopping A couple were in a busy shopping center just before Christmas. The wife suddenly noticed that her husband was missing and as they had a lot to do, so she called him on the mobile. The wife said " Where are you, you know we have lots to do." He said "You remember the jewelers we went into about 10 years ago, and you fell in love with that diamond necklace? I could not afford it at the time and I said that one day I would get it for you?" Little tears started to flow down her cheek and she got all choked up‌ "Yes, I do remember that shop." she replied. "Well I am in the gun shop next door to that."
Humor to relieve relieve Humor to stress PARKING A cop was patrolling at night in a well known area for "parking." He saw a couple in a car, with the interior light on. He got closer to the car and saw a young man behind the wheel, reading a computer magazine and a young woman on the rear seat, knitting. Puzzled by this surprising situation, the cop walked over to the car and knocked on the window. "Yes, officer?" "What are you doing?" "Well, isn't it obvious? I'm reading a magazine." Pointing to the young woman, the cop asked, "And her, what is she doing?" The young man shrugged, "I believe she's knitting a pullover." The cop was totally confused. A young couple alone in a car at night and nothing obscene is happening! "What's your age, young man?" "I'm 22, sir." "And her, what's her age? The young man looks at his watch and said, "She'll be 18 in 20 minutes.
LITTLE JOHNNY IS BACK The teacher asked the class to use the word “fascinate” in a sentence. Molly put up her hand and said, “My family went to my granddad's farm, and we all saw his pet sheep. It was fascinating." The teacher said, “That was good, but I wanted you to use the word ‘fascinate,’ not 'fascinating'.” Sally raised her hand. She said, “My family went to see Rock City and I was fascinated.” The teacher said, “Well, that was good Sally, but I wanted you to use the word ‘fascinate’.” Little Johnny raised his hand, but the teacher hesitated because she had been burned by Little Johnny before. She finally decided there was no way he could damage the word “fascinate,” so she called on him. Johnny said, “My aunt Carolyn has a sweater with ten buttons, but her tits are so big she can only fasten eight!” The teacher sat down and cried
Daniel’s Law is Official Story and Photos by Jennifer B Myers There are few times that anyone gets to directly witness our legislative process in action. Few times does the immense efforts to change or enhance the legal system bear fruit. Few times does the terrible loss of one individual produce action that leads to positive results. November 4, 2016 all those “few times” became this time. Governor Tom Wolf signed, at Scott Township Volunteer fire department in Lawrence County, the bill making Daniel’s Law official! Daniel’s law came about by the death of Daniel Gallatin, who was killed when the motorcycle he was driving was hit by a driver that was texting. The penalties for that driver was $250 in fines and a 23 month jail sentence. Daniel’s death showed how the laws were lacking to deal with texting and driving, and Daniel Gallatin's family sought to change the inadequacies in the law. The new law increases those penalties that will allow 5 year sentence for texting while driving that results in a death and 2 year sentence for serious injury. The signing was attended by about 250 people, including Michelle Gallatin-Baughman, daughter of Daniel Gallatin, State Rep Jaret Gibbons, who helped to sponsor the bill, the motorcycle organizations Alliance of Bikers Aimed Toward Education (A.B.A.T.E), and American Motorcycle Association. People from all over the state took the time to attend this tremendous event, including Firefighters from Scott Township, Hickory, Slippery Rock, and Ellwood City. Also attending was the New Castle Area Honor Guard, of which Daniel Gallatin was a member. So many people helped and were involved to achieve this goal. A huge thanks goes out to those people, no matter how big or small. Texting and driving has been shown to be as dangerous as anyone drinking and driving and is having a widespread effect. The law will hopefully create awareness about the dangers of texting while driving and the consequences of that decision. Out of tragedy springs the action that will make roadways in PA safer for everyone.

The Bikers Trading Post staff had the pleasure of attending the 2016 Progressive International Motorcycle Show at the IX Center in Cleveland, Ohio. This is billed as the world’s largest motorcycle show tour, and it certainly is. The sheer size of this event was unbelievable. They filled the IX Center, which is no small feat, with the show advertising nearly a million square feet of vendors. There were vendors from more than 40 different brands, featuring big bike brands like Harley and Royal Enfield, to displays of folding trailers and tire machines. Vendors had all kinds of gear, from helmets to leather, t-shirts, patches, and more. Anything motorcycle related you can think of was present. There was live entertainment throughout the weekend. Sunday we watched the youth band School of Rock, where a group of kids from the School of Rock Performance Program not only learn instruments, but actually play in front of live audiences. Jason Britton and Ian Gaines of the No Limit stunt team rode tricks inside to an audience so large that it was impossible for people in the back to see them. Progressive even sponsored a travelling barber shop where one could have their beard trimmed or get a hot shave with a straight razor by a professional. Makoto Endo painted a large scale motorcycle using chopsticks as a paint brush, and attendees could enter to win a custom painting. And there were giveaways everywhere. Attendees could enter to win several sweepstakes and drawings, with prizes ranging from t-shirts and custom art all the way to brand new motorcycles. The big selling point for the show is that it marks the beginning of the selling season for motorcycles in the region. More than a dozen manufacturers set up incredible displays with concept, pre-production, and current production models of vehicles for people to see. Most had display models that could be sat on, and several had setups that allowed people to start engines, and rev them while the wheels spun with the bike held firmly in place. BMW even had a augmented reality rig, where you could sit on an actual motorcycle fixed in place and wear a helmet that let you drive the bike as if you’re in a simulator.
Emily Geary signing people up for one of the many giveaways.
Quite possibly the largest draw for the show was the J&P Cycles Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Competition, which is a touring competition that makes 10 stops. Local builders at each stop compete, entering nearly 400 bikes in the world’s largest motorcycle builder competition. In the 2016 tour, there are more than $100,000 worth of cash and prizes awarded for this competition, ending with the National Championship in chicago, and the prestigious title ‘King of the Builders’. The competitors judges the contest around the nation, with top builders in each class winning prizes and one person winning the Peoples’ Choice award at each stop. Each stop of the tour shows four classes of bikes. The first class is Freestyle, where any type of drive train can enter. Jeremy Cupp of LC Fabrications took first prize here, with a 2015 custom named Seven, as it was the 7th motorcycle produced by LC Fabrications. Wayne Burgess took second place with a 2010 Shovelhead named Spitball Magoo. The Modified Harley class requires a Harley-Davidson engine case and frame. Dell Battle took first place in this category with a 1991 Sportster named 72 Style Sporty, and Demetrius Clark took second place with a 2007 Harley. The Modified Retro class is open to any bike with a drive train from 1984 or earlier. The class requires an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) driveline with a stock, modified, or aftermarket frame. Ed Kubiez worked with The Gasbox to make a 1965 BSA that took first place, and Austin Andrella of Austin Martin Originals took second with a 1969 Triumph named Ole 69’er. The Modified Custom class is for bikes with an OEM engine and frame, although bikes are allowed to modify the neck, tail sections, swing arms, and use wide tire kits. Rich Worley brought the Mad Max Scout, a 2016 Indian Scout, all the way from South Carolina and won first place. Second went to Justin Seely with a 2006 CBR1000rr named Wolverine. Jesse Srpan of Raw Iron Choppers won the Sho Dog and won a solo bag from The Leatherworks as a prize.
King of the Builders title Seven built by Jeremy Cupp of LC Fabrications
The first place winner of each category went on to Chicago to compete in the National Championship, where Jeremy Cupp won the King of the Builders title, and more than $50,000 in cash and prizes. That is the largest purse for any bike show in the United States, and the title Jeremy won truly is prestigious. To see more on the details of this bike go to a great article by Martin Hodgson on the Pipeburn website. http://www.pipeburn.com/home/2016/01/19/seven-lcfabrications.html
