EDITORS NOTE:

This Summer I swapped steamy hot sandhopping beach days for ski boots in the French Alps. Being my very first snow holiday, I was sure I was unprepared clothing-wise, but what I was truly not ready for for was the magic of our snow village.

Having grown up right here on the Sunshine Coast, it was a huge culture shock, to say the very least. However, I may just become a snow bunny yet!

Being back here in the land of Oz, I’m lapping up the long sunlit hours and pink sunsets with Prosecco in hand. Practically upon disembarkment, I jumped straight into the wonderful world of wedding content. I've mostly been finalising this

magazine, which I anticipate will be the first introduction to some of you, who have become betrothed over the silly season. Welcome and congratulations!

This magazine has some beautiful wedding inspiration for you… interestingly enough with a lot of European influence. Well, when in Queensland… pretend you’re in the Mediterranean - that’s the saying, right?

Scottish Wedding in Noosa

Even a seasoned Wedding Planner can’t control the weather on her wedding day. As bride, Brittney, discovered when she and now husband, Dan, held their Scottish wedding here in Australia.

As the Wedding Coordinator at Noosa Boathouse, Brittney has certainly seen it all and didn’t let a little bit of rain put a dampener on her wedding day. After all, she had secured the best wedding venue she could imagine in her and Dan’s home town of Noosa. No prizes for guessing where!

You could say it was more than just the kilts and brogues worn by the Scottish groom and his groomsmen that brought a little touch of Scotland to the occasion. The weather was reminiscent of the groom’s family heritage, just like the tartan he wore.

The start of day of Deanne and Danielle’s Brisbane elopement was spent sweetly crafting their wildflower bouquets over coffee. They went to the local flower market early in the morning and picked olive leaf, lavender, wax flower, ranunculi and daisies.

The day was spent along the iconic Brisbane River with just the two of them in a true elopement. Their ceremony included a special poem, they involved their three beloved dogs in the day and included a boudoir shoot with their photographer, Carissa, from Elk and Fir.

Bride, Deanne, has been so kind as to share the story of the day she and the love of her life, Danielle, became wives. ON THE BLOG/

The Anatomy of THE BEST DAY EVER

The secret to designing the best day of your lives is all about nailing these three elements:

1. Feel the Love

Undoubtedly, choosing the right partner with whom you share an abundance of deep love and connection is what it’s all about. Expressing that love in a meaningful way that honours what you share is where your celebrant comes in.

It’s the most important part of the day - when you actually get legally married, but it’s so much more than that. Dan Ford Celebrant says his first step towards designing a personalised ceremony for his couples is to gather all their stories and experiences, and get a feel for you as a couple. This becomes the foundation of a ceremony that entertains and engages every person present.

2. Make Memories

Invite the right people. Brittany and Cody met when they were both professional dancers on top-line cruises, so of course their wedding guests included some of the people who were by their sides when they met and shared the once-in-a-lifetime experience of falling in love on the high seas. They also invited people who meant the world to them throughout their lives - family of course, but also old dance mentors, school friends… and more friends!

3. Focus on the Celebration

Whatever that means to you! If it’s planning for all the little details, like a ribbon-tied champagne tower, or including your favourite foods, or splurging on entertainment that will have you dancing the night away - make sure you remember through all the traditions, it’s about celebrating your marital union and the love that brought you here.

To keep the celebration end of the wedding on track, Dan Ford can also stay on for your reception as MC. Moving through the official parts, like first dance and speeches with a friendly finesse and fun vibes is Dan’s forte.

FIRST DANCE PLAYLIST

A Musician’s Guide To Your Perfect Moment

From timeless classics to an unexpected mash-up, wedding singer Harry Morris has curated the ultimate first dance playlist with options for every couple’s vibe.

Romantic First Dance Song

“Perfect” by Ed Sheeran. I love its heartfelt lyrics and beautiful melodies. Playing it live always creates the perfect intimate atmosphere.

Country First Dance Song

One of my favorite country songs by the legend Luke Combs is “Beautiful Crazy.” In my opinion, it artistically captures such a pure and whole love.

Upbeat First Dance Song

I may be biased, as I love this artist so much, but “Marry You” by Bruno Mars is a go-to. With a title like that, it’s hard not to play it at a wedding!

Traditional First Dance Song

I go straight to the classics, and the first that comes to mind is “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by the king himself, Elvis Presley. I love putting my own twist on it, it is just a gorgeous song.

Cute/Cheesy First Dance Song

Cheesy, but it’s a classic! “Shut Up and Dance with Me” by Walk the Moon is so fun and always gets the guests super into it. Certified crowd pleaser.

First Dance Song With Beautiful Lyrics

I LOVE the lyrics in “All of Me” by John Legend. It works perfectly on piano or acoustic guitar, and every time is a bit of a tearjerker.

Alternative First Dance Song

A different song I learned for a first dance was “Home” by Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros. I love the storytelling in this one; it has such a beautiful message.

Craziest First Dance Song You've Ever Heard

I was asked to change pop anthem, “Crazy in Love” by Jay-Z and Beyoncé, into a slow acoustic ballad. It turned out to be an amazing idea and was beautiful to take a special song for the couple and turn it into an intimate moment.

Best First Dance Mash-Up

Shut Up and Dance with Me” mashed up with “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” by Whitney Houston. The audience always goes crazy when transitioning into that Whitney chorus for the first time.

Your wedding day is one of the most significant moments in your life, and every detail counts—from the dress to the shoes, the flowers to the vows. But one of the most important elements of your bridal look is undoubtedly your jewellery. The right pieces can elevate your ensemble, add a personal touch, and enhance your confidence as you walk down the aisle.

At McLean & Co. Jewellers, each piece is designed to be as timeless as it is beautiful, offering brides the perfect balance of classic elegance and modern style.
