Member in the Spotlight

For this issue of Member in the Spotlight, we are pleased to feature Jose De Cardoso and his family. Jose is currently the Managing Director for The Swatch Group S.E.A. Read on to find out more about Jose!

We moved from South Africa to Singapore in 2015 and stayed in a Condo at Sentosa, but decided that we needed more space, so we moved into a landed property near the Botanical Gardens. The home does not have a pool, and our son Kyle (5) loves to be outdoors especially in a pool. We visited a few clubs, and finally we decided on The British Club, as the atmosphere, amenities as well as the great Sunday lunches made it the perfect place for us.

Could you share a little about what you do at The Swatch Group?

I am the Managing Director for The Swatch Group S.E.A, and we are a subsidiary of our Company in Switzerland. We distribute and sell 14 different brands of watches of ours (From entry price point Swatch, to prestige Brands such as Breguet) into retailers as well as surrounding countries.

How often do you come up to the Club and what is your favourite thing to do here?

We frequent the Club at least two to three times a week, and our best day is of course Sunday. As a family, we can relax around the pool while our son burns off his what seems to be an unlimited energy whilst swimming and playing. We then sit down to the Sunday lunch as our son loves the buffet, we love the spread that was set out each week and my son wanted to have his birthday held at the Club.

Working in the watchmaking industry, do you own many renowned watches?

Having worked in the industry for so many years, yes, I do have a small collection of watches. What I can share with you is one of my favourite pieces, which is the Omega “Dark Side of the moon”.

Lastly, share with us something interesting about yourself (a hobby, interest etc.)

My interests involve basketball, gym, cycling and following the F1 schedule. At this stage, I would say my favourite hobby is trying all the different cuisine around Asia.

...The British Club, as the atmosphere, amenities as well as the great Sunday lunches made it the perfect place for us.
