GM’s Message

Due to the current COVID-19 situation, we had to postpone several events recently mainly due to travel restrictions of our visiting overseas guests. These included the Bali Chef, Mammy’s Boys Comedy dinner, the Wine Dinner, Paul McVeigh Speaker Series and Whose Line is it Anyway? We will endeavour to reschedule these events later in the year. Also due to the unexpected border closure with Malaysia last month, many of our operational employees were affected. So as a result, we have temporarily closed the Mountbatten and Scores. At the time of writing, we expect this to be for a two-week period and to be back to normal operations from 1 April. Thank you to all Members for your understanding and support during this challenging time. Kicking things off in early April we have the Saito Sake Pairing Dinner and Glengoyne Whisky Tasting which will definitely appeal to connoisseurs so drop by for a glass, or two. Up next, I would like to draw your attention to Earth Day. As many of you are aware, the Club has progressively been working towards a more sustainable and eco-friendlier environment. Find out what the Sustainability Committee has in the pipeline for the Club on page 15. information on the mentioned events can be found in this month’s magazine issue, so flip through to find out more. We will also be welcoming Michelin-starred Chef, Jeff Baker to the Club. Jeff will be our Chef in Residence at the Mountbatten Bar and Grill exclusively for four nights in May. Jeff will also be working together with award-winning Chief Winemaker, Julian Langworthy to create a curated tasting menu featuring exceptional meals and premium pairing wines for the Wine & Gourmet Dinner. At this time, the Club strongly advises all families to take necessary precautions to help prevent any further spread of COVID-19. If you or your children have high temperatures or display any flu-type symptoms, we strongly urge you to stay at home and seek medical attention. The Club has also increased its cleaning and sanitising frequency since February. We have expended hand sanitisers to more areas of the Club, including both the main entrance to the Club and the Sports Centre. Do stay positive and safe.

If you are one to plan ahead, international Mother’s Day will fall on 10 May and the Club will be offering special set lunches for the dearest of them all. More ANDREW CHRISTON General Manager
