Describe yourself in two words:
Chris, GM Lauren, AGM Friendly 1. Energetic 2. Resourceful 1. Passionate 2.
What is your best piece of advice for couples for their wedding day?
Hang out together. During the reception, don’t just play host, actually enjoy each other!
Do your rounds of greeting people and then commit yourselves to sneaking away to catch your breath After, remember to sit down and take it all in together We host too many weddings where the couple is never together and it blows our minds! And remember, sometimes the best memories can come from unexpected moments. Those happen and often create once in a lifetime memories
with Q&A
INDUSTRYSpotlight
You have travelled extensively and yet you felt that your “ most significant adventure unfolded in 2021 when we relocated our family from Toronto to Calgary”
How is it all going?!
Calgary is an amazing and vibrant city and we couldn’t be happier with our decision to move here. We had heard that Alberta is known for having really friendly people, but we didn’t expect it to be as obvious as it was when we arrived. We came for the mountains and they have not disappointed. When it comes to our business, we have loved how close knit the wedding community is in Calgary. On wedding days, we are finally at the point where we get to see the same vendors again and again and are starting to build close relationships with them. It’s such a great feeling to work with people whose company you really enjoy and who you know are also doing they best they can to provide an amazing experience for your couple.
How would you describe your business approach?
The first, is providing a truly custom and high level experience for our couples. From a custom proposal for every wedding, to tailoring our work to a couple’s unique vision and personalities, there is no one-size-fits-all approach at Revel.
The second, is staying up-to-date and relevant. We prioritize keeping on top of the trends and changed in the wedding industry, continuing our education, and keeping ourselves in tune with what inspires the the type of couples we work with.
The third, is that our style and work is based around the idea of creating a forever product. We call it heirloom imagery. What this means is that no matter what editing trends may come and go, we are committed to keeping our work truly timeless. Fourth, we value and work towards creating strong and lasting relationships with other wedding vendors within the city. This includes other photographers and videographers, venue owners, florists, planners, and others. We genuinely believe in community over competition and that if we all work together, we can lift up the wedding industry in our city and provide better services and better experience for all couples.
What is the best advice you have ever received, or want to share, that you draw on during those stressful and busy times of wedding season?
That’s a good question! I think the best advice I ever received was to take everything one day at a time. I try not to get overwhelmed with how much I have going on and all the pressure that is involved in the work that I do and just think about and edit one wedding at a time. Finally, I ask for help! When I start feeling stressed, I reach out to my family and friends and ask for the support I need.
Haris is a storyteller with a video camera and you love capturing moments that can repel people into your pictures how would you describe the ideal client profile for your type of work? Let’s
When it comes to films, storytelling is definitely our main focus. Haris’ background is in documentary filmmaking and storytelling is in his blood! We put a heavy emphasis on recording high quality audio and combine it with beautiful visuals captured throughout the day. To help us tell a love story that goes beyond just the wedding day, we offer to include the couple’s own archive footage captured throughout their relationship or when they were growing up. We provide all the support and resources couples need to understand what goes unto a storybased film and what they can do help us create an incredible one for them.
together!
