2023 feels SO long ago, as Q4 of 2024 will be here before we know it. We spent Q1 and Q2 with our corporate clients and this is also the time we buy new items, steam clean furniture and sand blast all chairs so many things that a previous busy year “marks” Now, wedding season is upon us and we are hustling!

So let’s take a minute to catch up here, section by lovely section;

Our first venue, the incomparable Venue 308, is turning 5 years old and we are “giving love away ” in a contest for a $30,000 value wedding The contest closed on August 31st and we chose our winner through an application process Meet the lovely couple and vendors involved in the What’s New section You are going to want to watch for this May 2, 2025 wedding that we are SO excited about

This month, instead of showcasing collaboratives, we are sharing some City Style real weddings who used the city outside in style Check out the Style & Substance section and make sure you are following ALL this local talent (you will see our full team photo under the Substance portion, too cuz we ’ ve got style)

We are a growing team and we love them ALL In this issue (and on our cover) you will meet Andrea...Who dis, you ask? Go find out! You hopefully have seen the instagram lead up for this amazing up to 100 guest wedding at Venue 308, including many of their needed vendor services for the Wedding Date of Friday, May 2, 2025. We will show case this wedding in our 2025 issue that follows the wedding - stay tuned!

Meet:Andrea

Role: I have two roles! I am the Communication Associate for Venue 308 clients and the Manager at our new Studios at Vic Park YYC.

What two adjectves would you use to describe yourself?

I am Caring and Dependable

What is your best piece of advice for couples for their wedding day?

Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Make sure there is open communication and that you understand the answers. We are part of your team, and feeling confident in the details going into your wedding day will ensure you can truly be present and enjoy!

Yes, okay, agreed - we could have put this team pic in the STYLE portion of the “Style & Substance” section, but decided that we are more substance than style

We had the amazing and warm, Azra, in from Revel Photography and Film to update our photos and had SO MUCH FUN

(Plus, we got to use our own photo studio space at Studios at Vic Park YYC for the shoot)

Watch for us to use the photos in future posts and newsletters but please get to know us by name we are real people, with real families, real care for what we do and real love for Calgary

When not working at the studio or Venue 308, how do you like to spend your time?

Running around with my boys. Between hockey, baseball and football, those two are constantly on the go!

I also love to adventure with my dog or curling up with a good book.

Get to know The Event Crew YYC - the are new and we love them!

Q: As owners with experience in the event planning industry, how did this concept come to be?

The concept for The Event Crew was born out of our firsthand experience in the event planning industry. We noticed, and experienced, a gap in the market for reliable and high-quality staffing solutions specifically for event set up and tear down services Often, event planners, clients and venues struggled with the logistics of these tasks, which can be both time-consuming, stressful and require sufficient manpower.

We wanted to create a solution that would allow clients to focus on enjoying their events, knowing that the behind-the-scenes work was handled seamlessly by professionals. This led us to establish The Event Crew -Calgary’s premier staffing and event services company

Q. What are the top three reasons couples, venues and planners need you?

Expertise and Efficiency: Our team is specialized and trained in event set up and tear down to be faster and more efficient. This ensures that everything is executed to perfection, saving time and reducing stress. Peace of Mind: By hiring The Event Crew, clients (and their family members/friends/teams) can relax and enjoy their events, knowing that experienced professionals are taking care of all the details This peace of mind is invaluable, especially for significant milestones like weddings and corporate events. Flexibility and Reliability: Whether it’s a last-minute change or a complex setup, our team is equipped to handle it all. We work closely with our clients to understand their specific needs and adapt to any situation, ensuring that their event is set-up exactly as per their vision.

Q: Since you are a start-up, we KNOW there are challenges!! Do share?

Building awareness about the unique services we offer. Many people still assume that event planning services and/or venues cover everything, including setup and tear down, so there is an education component involved in making clients understand the value of our specialized services and why it is a critical component to the success of their event. Breaking into an established market and gaining the trust of planners and venues has been challenging. However, our main goal is to support them by handling the essential tasks of setup and teardown, allowing them to focus on the more critical aspects of their client events. We are confident that our dedication to quality and customer satisfaction will be a great asset to them!

Q: What can a client count on when they hire The Event Crew?

Clients can count on The Event Crew for professionalism, reliability, and peace of mind We bring a high level of expertise and dedication to each event, ensuring that every setup and teardown is executed flawlessly. Our clients can relax knowing that every detail is being handled by a team that truly cares about the success of their event

Q: How much notice do you need for a booking and what if someone panics, in which case, what is the minimum notice you require?

Ideally, we recommend that clients book our services as soon as they have a confirmed date and venue to ensure availability and adequate preparation time.

However, we understand that sometimes plans change or last-minute needs arise in which case we do our best to work with a minimum of 48 hours notice for last-minute bookings

Our goal is to be as flexible and responsive as possible to help clients in any situation - after all, this is the most important day of their lives and we would love to be part of making their dream event come true!
