hank God we are through the election! Though I felt that this one was very important, I am glad that it is over. Now we can move on to one of the most festive times of the year. Thanksgiving will have passed when you read this. It is one of my favorite holidays with family, food, and football. I love the way the house smells when Molly is cooking turkey and I cannot help but be reminded of all of my blessings when family shows up to share in the day. But the biggest blessing comes at Christmas when we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. At our house we always begin by reading the second chapter of the book of Luke from the Bible, which is the account of how Joseph and Mary experienced hardship and blessing in the birth of Jesus. Last year, my grand daughter, Gwen read for us. I love this part of Christmas and hearing her read it made it that much more special. After Jesus was born, shepherds came to see this child and spread the word of what they had seen. Later his parents took him to the temple in Jerusalem and presented him according to Jewish law. Simeon, a man led by the Holy Spirit, proclaimed to God, “With my own eyes I have seen what you have done to save your people, and foreign nations will also see this. Your mighty power is a light for all nations, and it will bring honor to your people Israel.” The gifts that we give at Christmas are just a token of God’s love and a reminder that the gift of God is eternal life through faith in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. I hope that your Christmas is the best ever and that you experience the joy of the holiday with your family. No matter where you are, you can be part of the family of God. Just invite Jesus into your heart. Paul wrote in the letter to the Ephesians, “God saved you by His grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God.” I hope you accept the greatest gift ever this Christmas. Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men

What An Amazing Ride! “What an amazing ride!” says Ken Vitulli, General Manager at Fort Bragg HarleyDavidson in Fayetteville, NC. “The past two years have been an incredible and humbling experience!” New owner Chris Doherty’s vision from day one was to build one of the premier Harley-Davidson dealerships in the United States. “We knew coming in that Fort Bragg Harley-Davidson could be something special”, said Chris. “The riding community is very passionate and unique. I’ve ridden for years and I understand what our customers want… ..a dealer that understands their needs, has the right bike at the right time and the right people to deliver the ultimate ownership experience.” Over the last two years, Fort Bragg Harley-Davison has grown into one of the top Harley-Davidson dealerships in the United States. “We’ve grown from 16 to over 50 employees, all to better serve our customers”, added Doherty. Fort-Bragg Harley-Davidson is the largest volume dealership in the Carolina’s and recently won the coveted Gold Bar and Shield Award from the Harley-Davidson

Motor Company. They also carry the largest new motorcycle inventory in the Carolina’s. “We’re certainly proud of the growth that we’ve been able to achieve here at Fort-Bragg Harley-Davidson”, says Vitulli, “but I’m even more proud of the culture and the spirit that we’ve been able to implement here. We have an incredible staff that is truly dedicated to making sure that each and every one of our customers feels welcomed and appreciated. “ Christine Montgomery, Fort Bragg Harley-Davidson’s Marketing and Events coordinator has seen the growth first hand. “Our goal was to become more involved with the riding community, to create a dealership that our customer’s wanted to spend more time and we’ve done that”, said Montgomery. “We love it when the local groups come in and man the grill on Saturdays.” “We’re far from done” says Vitulli. “One of the challenges is to continually improve our customer experience, what we did yesterday, needs to be even better tomorrow”. Fort Bragg Harley-Davidson recently added the Harley-Davidson Riding Academy. “We finally launched the academy in October, and the response has been amazing!” said Montgomery. “We want to bring more people into the riding culture, and this is an incredible way to do it. The 43rd Annual CBA Fall Swap Meet And Bike Show

By: WildThing The Charlotte NC Chapter of the Concerned Bikers Association has hosted this show for the above stated years at the Charlotte Metrolina Expo on Statesville Road. That property was sold, so the CBA had to find a new home. In the past, there have been some really cool biker events at the Rowan County Fairgrounds in Salisbury, which turned out to be the new home for the CBA Swap Meet. The fairgrounds has undergone some renovations recently and is the perfect new home. The Chapter also has the support of the local Tilley HarleyDavidson dealership, so I expect this change to be successful for years to come. Apparently the bikers and vendors who have supported this event thought it was a good move also, because they turned out in droves. Of course, we had the blessing of excellent weather from Mother Nature. Saturday was a blowout day! So many of the vendors from Metrolina days were on hand along with a whole cast of new ones. The outside corridors were filled with folks selling all kinds of used and new motorcycle parts and accessories. There were many jewelry and leather vendors and music filled the air as the live bands took to the outdoor stage. A trend that the Charlotte CBA began a few years back at Metrolina continued in Rowan County as the Rowan County Restaurant Association manned the bar. You could get shots of liquor as well as cold brews. There was also food vendors scattered about for those hungry shoppers. The bike show building was packed with beautiful bikes vying for the cash prizes and trophies. It was great to just walk around, visit the sellers, enjoy the

music, and chat with friends that you get to see at the CBA Swap Meet. They listed a tattoo contest and wet t-shirt contest that I didn’t get to see because there was so much going on! This show is a fund-raiser for the CBA that uses the money to support their efforts to promote good legislation that favors, or at least takes into account, motorcyclists all across North Carolina. 3rd Annual Toy Run To Benefit Toys For Tots

By: Bill Gallaway Sunday, October 23 was the date for the first Toy Run of the 2016 season. The Marine Corps Reserve sponsored this run. The event began in Westminster, SC where cars and motorcycles gathered with toys strapped to their backrests and sticking out of saddlebags. The weather was very cooperative. Temps were in the 70â&#x20AC;&#x2122;s with a bright sunny sky. The riders started arriving before noon for a 1pm departure, which had a police escort through Westminster, SC and North to Walhalla, SC. This annual parade helps underprivileged children receive a toy from Santa on Christmas morning. Bikers again showed their true colors by supporting the children at Christmas.

By: Johnny Reb November 5th was a beautiful day for a ride, and the only thing better than a nice ride with great friends, is to do something nice for some kids. I met up with Redneck, Jager, and Batman in Snow Hill and we all rode to Spikes Tavern in Goldsboro, NC. We had our unwrapped toys for the kids with us. It was a nice ride, and when we pulled in, there were around 100 bikes waiting to get on the road. I met up with Frank from the Wayne County Ghost Riders, and we headed the 20 miles or so to Thunder Swamp Church. The Ghost Riders provided traffic control for the ride, and the long line of bikes had no problem at all keeping a nice tight group for the ride to the church. It really makes you feel good to know that being a biker in Eastern North Carolina means you are riding with bikers that care about the kids. They are always ready to stand up and lend a hand to for those that need help. This is the time of year when we get to appreciate and be thankful for all we have, which also gets you thinking about those who are not so fortunate. Little kids have no idea why Christmas morning is better for others and not for them. Well, we try to help them have the same joy of opening that gift that their friends have. Anyway, we got to the church safe and the food was ready and the congregation was ready to collect all the toys. We hung out for a while, then small groups started heading out, and the day was complete. Our group took off back to Spikes Tavern. When we got there we had some beverages, talked it over, and called it a day. Thank you Wayne County Ghost Riders, Spikes Tavern, and all that came out for the kids. Johnny Reb, out.

R.M. Campbell 10th Annual You Are Not Forgotten Run

By: Bill Gallaway Sunday, November 6th was a special day for the residents of the R.M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home in Anderson, SC. This run, planned by the Teufelshunde Motorcycle Club, is put on every year to support the Veterans/Residents of the R.M. Campbell Nursing Home. The line-up started around 11:00 a.m.; for some, the official start time was 1:00 p.m., and most riders arrived between 1:00 and 2:30 p.m. KSU was scheduled for 2:30, but actually started at 2:45. Prior to the start, the road guards left to control traffic during the run. The all bike run proceeded to the Nursing Home and the parade meandering through Downtown Anderson took approximately one hour to descend upon the nursing home. Those that made it were greeted by representatives of R.M. Campbell and the residents awaiting our arrival. It was a beautiful sunny day with temperatures in the 70’s, so everyone was comfortable. There were skydivers, a 21 gun volley, plenty of food compliments of Sue’s Wing Wagon, and it was a very patriotic and festive event. Of the 1,000-plus

motorcycles on the ride, I was probably the only one who picked up a screw in my rear tire and was greeted by a flat tire Monday morning. I know I won’t forget the event and can’t wait until next year for the 11th Annual You Are Not Forgotten Run. A special ‘Thank You’ goes out to all our Veterans.

By: Caroline One of my favorite events at Smokin’ Harley-Davidson each year is the Rocktoberfest. Usually, the weather is beautiful as it was this year. After all, a motorcycle just looks spectacular with a backdrop of fall color! Also, this is just a fun good time with folks dressed up in costumes, food, camaraderie, swap meet, and of course the fabulous raffles. Speaking of a fabulous raffles, at 1pm sharp, 107.5 KZL held the drawing for a brand-new Street 750. A big congratulations to Brian Cary who won this beautiful new bike. Another raffle that took place was to raise funds for Scotty Linville with some great prizes—Christmas packages, music and movie CD’s, Panther and Wake Forest football tickets, Harley MotorClothes, t-shirts, mugs, caps, and much more. I personally won music CD’s and Wake Forest football tickets that turned out to be a great game putting the Deacs in the running for the bowl games. Also, the swap meet and other vendors donated their space rental to the Scotty Linville fund. It was really great to see the good swap meet turnout with all kinds of goods, jewelry, motorcycle parts and accessories, and service providers like our good friend attorney, Bob Karney and his “angels”. Not to be outdone, the Winston-Salem HOG Chapter had a bake sale, hot dog lunch sale, and raffled off some pretty sweet gift certificates and cash! As you can see this is a pretty exciting event that is a big hit for those in this area. Veterans MC Benefit For Veterans Home By: Johnny Reb On October 15th, Hometown HarleyDavidson was again the place to be. The Veterans MC held a benefit for the North Carolina State Veterans Home Kinston. They were taking donations and selling t-shirts, with all the money going to help our aged and disabled vets that are currently in the Veterans Home. State law dictates that money cannot be donated to the Veterans Home, so all the money that was raised was going to be used to buy hats for the vets. Each veteran will get a hat that reflects his branch of service. Now maybe some of you think that what kind of help will a hat do? Well, as a disabled veteran myself, I can tell you that wearing that hat can give a veteran pride and lift their spirits. Some of these veterans never have visitors or their health is very poor, so their mental health can suffer, too. The simple act of getting a hat from people who care can mean all the difference in the world. Any money left over will be donated to the canteen. This will mean that the vet can go in and get a candy bar or a snack and not have to come up with any of their own money. On Veterans Day the Veterans MC will ride to the Veterans Home and distribute the hats. There were several MCs at the benefit, Ghost Riders MC, Brotherhood MC, Bikers for Christ MM. If I missed anybody, no disrespect intended. If you see me at an event please come up and introduce yourself and give me a card if you have one, that way I will be sure to include your club in the article.

Well, I guess that about wraps this one up. A big thank you goes out to the Veterans MC for this and all the hard work they do to help our veterans. 25th Annual Jim McClure Nitro Nationals Story and photos by Alan Dockery One of the best ways a biker can spend a weekend is at the Harley Drags. That’s why I was so glad to see so many of y’all at Rockingham Dragway when the American Motorcycle Racing Association came to North Carolina last month. The only thunder at The Rock was the 25th Annual Jim McClure Nitro Nationals featuring the Ray Price Top Fuel Class. Y’all love going to The Rock for all kinds of races, but the Harley Drags are special. So many of us ride Harley-Davidson motorcycles and ain’t scared to hop them up and ride them hard. So a weekend of thundering Harleys and great friendships in the pits and campgrounds makes memories we will share for years. I hung out with folks I’ve known a long time. Made new friends who rode in looking for a spot to camp. I saw Charles Hamilton propose marriage to Patricia Whitmore by the starting line. Saturday they only got in two rounds of qualifying since an accident knocked out the starting line Christmas Tree and

it took a while to fix. But the fans don’t mind when the pro classes qualifying goes into the dark. It’s so cool to watch the nitro bikes roar down the track spewing flames in the fading light. After qualifying, Bert Baker, of Baker Drivetrain, sponsored a Halloween Costume and Pit Decorating Contests. What a hoot to see folks who are so serious on the strip cutting up in costume as they paraded through the pits. We wound up at R.T. and Mary’s extravagant Zombie Wedding. With great weather all weekend folks were cruising the campgrounds and pits visiting others campfires and parties. Down on the stage, the band “Sinners” was rocking the crowd.

AMRA Ray Price Top Fuel Championship A dozen Top Fuelers were at The Rock competing for the AMRA Ray Price Top Fuel Championship. Tracy Kile, Asheville, NC, qualified the Bad Apple machine second. Jay Turner, Julian, NC, was third on the ladder. Jay is a Carolina Legend having recently locked up both the International Hot Rod Association’s Nitro Motorcycle championship again and the National Hot Rod Association’s Harley-Davidson Drag Racing Series. Tii Tharpe, East Bend, NC, made the field. Mike Beland, Maiden, NC, missed the cut for the eight-bike field, but still finished the season as the Top Fuel champion. If you are into serious chest rattling machines, you should have been there to checkout Top Fuel Harleys up close. See that awesome machine D.J. brought for Takeshi Shigmatsu to ride. Check out Dan Grindle’s blower bike. Walk the pits and wonder how they make those massive motors and blowers and parts work plus hold together while making so much power. In Sunday eliminations, the big guys were sent to the trailers early while the number seven and eight qualifiers headed to the final round. The last top fuel race of the day may have been the slowest with both riders going through the traps at less than 170 mph, but was still exciting and had folks cheer-

This was a popular win with the crowd since Peter was riding for the Hells Angels Long Island New York team. The Nitro Funny Bike class saw Jay Beasley, Winston-Salem, NC make it to the semi-finals. Congratulations to Jay for making the 200 MPH Club with his 204.79 mph pass. Keith Browne, Semora, NC, rode his awesome turbo machine in the class, too. Pro Fuel is a popular class. They run small 120 cubic inch engines, carburetors, and single speed only drive train. But those machines still fill the air with nitromethane, rattle your chest and put down 7.30’s all day. Half of the eightbike field was from North Carolina. Folks we were cheering for included; Janette Thornley, Statesville; Johnny Vickers, Miller Creek; Tyler Wilson, Walnut Cove; and Jay Beasley, Winston-Salem. Janette won the NHRA Pro Fuel title for the second year in arrow. Looks like Tyler may take the Manufacturers Cup championship. Johnny Vickers builds some of the best Pro Fuel machines available and teaches a school on how to ride and maintain them. Well, he schooled the field that Sunday sending everyone else to the trailer with a string of 7.20’s. The best Pro Fuel race of the day was the semifinal match-up of Vickers and Kirby Apathy. Both are legends in the class and build the best bikes. Johnny beat Kirby to the finish line by .044. He took the win over Wilson in the final. This race was about the legends of Harley drag racing and how many of us have cheered for some of these racers for much of our lives. Walking the pits you could meet famous racers, builders and tuners. One lady I was glad to see at The Rock was Kersten Heling. Her dad is Doc Hopkins. He owns Doc’s Harley-Davison of Shawano County Wisconsin. He is a legend of Harley drag racing and recently finished tenth in the Motorcycle Cannonball Ride. But it was chatting with Kersten about the time 22 years ago when the teenager first told me she was going to ride a nitro Harley. And she still does. I hope Kersten becomes a legend to young girls who want to race and ride. Women racers were at The Rock competing hard and winning their classes. There were lots of Sportsman racers and that’s where so many of my buddies run. Greg Best, Raleigh, NC, was in the Top Eliminator class. Keith Richner, Moore, SC, qualified in the Super Comp 8.90 second index class but broke his beautiful race bike. Keith finished second in the national points. Freddy Frazier, Sanford, NC, however broke the dreams of other racers as he took the class win.

Outlaw Street & Outlaw Bagger I’m glad to see one of my favorite classes, Outlaw Street, growing. These are the bikes I would most like to borrow for the weekend. The fans love the class, too, watching riders try to hold down wheelies through the first couple gears as they run the quarter mile in nine seconds on streetable bikes. Mike Motto, Jacksonville, NC, gave us a Carolina guy to cheer for as he muscled the Holeshot Racing machine down the strip. Richner qualified in the class, too. The outlaw rules are carried over to a new class, Outlaw Bagger. They put on a good show. Andy Simon, Salisbury, NC, is one of our guys now and I expect him to do well in Outlaw Bagger. Kadafe Chandhry, Pittsburg, PA, dominated the class this weekend. Y’all should have seen his giant-motored, carbon fibered Road King. Chris Wood, Goldsboro, NC, qualified in the 26-bike Super Gas 9.90 class. Last year’s winner, Joe Petersen, Wilmington, NC, made it to the Super Gas semifinals. Scot Wood, Goldsboro, NC, and Rick Medford, Cherokee, NC, competed in Super Pro against a 10.30 second index. Pro Eliminator is the 10.90 index class with 23 riders qualifying. Glenn Sutton, Moore, SC, went out in the semifinals. Don Meeler, Goldsboro, NC; Todd Hayworth, Mt. Pleasant, NC; Todd Dillon, Wilmington, NC; and Chris Wood also competed in Pro Eliminator. There were 28 bikes in the 11.50 Street Eliminator class. Mike Best, Cary, NC, made the field and likely finished the season third in points. Don Meeler, Todd Dillon and Rick Medford also ran the class. Licia Danford, Akron, OH, posted a perfect 0.000 reaction time in the Eliminator class. That earned her the Big Check and $200 from The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine. I love all y’all bikers in the stands cheering for Mark and Molly as they posed with Licia during the opening ceremonies. Our millions of readers are the best folks. Glenn Sutton ran Eliminator and finished fifth in the 2016 points. Also fighting it out in the 55-bike Dial-in Eliminator class was Rocky Tirker, Indian Trail, NC, Vic Allen, Southern Pines, NC, Don Meeler, Todd Hayworth, Todd Dillon, Scott Wood, Joe Petersen, and Chris Wood. As the sun set and the Winner’s Circle photos wound down, another season of drag racing was over. I thought about the

great time we had the last few days and the things I didn’t get to that weekend. I wish I had been able to visit with more folks I barely said “hey” to all weekend. There were a few race bikes I should have shot more photos of. And yeah, Cotton, I heard how good the fish fry was. It was great to see friends I’ve known for more than 25 years and make new ones who were at The Rock for the first time. Wheels Through Time Museum’s 14th Annual Vintage Motorcycle Raffle

November 12 was without a doubt a day worth waiting for. Not only did we unveil the 2017 Raffle Bike, a 1948 HarleyDavidson Panhead Springer, we also held the raffle in a new part of the museum and a record 3 out of 4 of the winners were present at the time of the drawing. The excitement and energy in the building was unmatched by any previous raffle event we’ve hosted in the past! Our Grand prizewinner of the 1946 Knucklehead was Bear King of Charlotte, North Carolina. He’s been coming to museum since it opened in 2001 and it was his 13th time entering the WTT Raffle and this year was finally his to claim. Bear had purchased tickets a few times through out the year and also purchased another 7 tickets when he arrived that morning at 9am! When his ticket being drawn, he was speechless and it was, in fact, another person who yelled out “He’s here!” before he spoke up or came forward. Frantically everyone turned and looked to their

left and right. Just moments later, Bear stepped forward from the side of the stage and raised his hand. We had our winner! The look on the face of the life long motorcycle rider and enthusiast was priceless. Moments later Bear was sitting on his new ’46 Knucklehead. We knew he wouldn’t have any problems with the bike when he started it on the first kick! His picture will be added to the Raffle Winner Wall and he was scheduled to pick up his Knucklehead up on November 15th. Congratulations Bear! Our 2nd Prize Winner was John Sapienza of Hubbard, Ohio! John was present for the raffle as well. John rode is Sportster all the way from Ohio to attend the WTT Raffle. He screamed down from the mezzanine and the crowd went wild! He made his way down stairs and to the center stage. He was so out of breath from excitement he could hardly talk! When he finally caught his breath the one of the first thing he said is “All (Gasping) 10 Grand is going (gasping) towards a new bike!” We couldn’t be happier for you John! Congratulations, Mr. Sapienza! Our 3rd Prize Winner was Frank Coy of Toledo, Ohio! Frank wasn’t present for the raffle but we managed to get him on the telephone. Frank visited the museum in July and only bought 7 tickets – 1 of which earned him $5,000. Congratulations Frank! New to the WTT Raffle is The Angel Drawing. It’s a $4,000 prize split 50/50 between the AngelMan Foundation and the Raffle Winner. Benefit Bike Ride And Fundraiser For JT By: Trisha Beasley Photo by: Chi Force Benefit Bike Ride And Fundraiser For JT was held at the National Guard Armory in Elizabethtown, NC on Saturday, October 15th 2016. Joseph Thomas Higgs “TJ” is a beautiful seven-month-old baby boy. He is the son of Kelsey Cox and Jacobi Higgs. JT was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on September 11th. The fundraiser was planned with the help and hard work of some many in addition to the gifts and kindness of yet so many more. Those listed on the program were Courtney Dorsett, Christie Merritt, Elvis Blackmon, and Polly Guy Smith. It took these people and so many others that are not named and they did an outstand job! They all did a great job in the preparation and planning that was involved with this fun and exciting day for everyone. As each and every one came together that day, all of them there giving free of heart and purse to a wonderful cause. The bike ride, plate sale, auction, raffles, and donations went to help with medical and living expenses. There was such an outpouring of love that day! Everyone was there to give and do their part for the benefit of baby JT. The entire lawn of the Armory was filled with bouncy houses, slides, face painting, and people, lots of people all there to support the causes. Both, the young and the old were in attendance to have a wonderful day and make an awesome effort for JT and the family. The ride was a heartfelt success! Several trophies were given for bikes, cars and trucks. The Disney family also made an appearance! Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and Spiderman showed up to give everyone a special thanks for all the hard work that it took to make such a magical day happen! There was magic, love, and “Super Heroes”, lots of Super Heroes;

some of them dressed in costumes but most of the heroes were wearing Leather, JT Higgs T-shirts or both! In follow up after the ride, it was reported that JT is now in remission! The report coming from the family; “Results were back from Johns Hopkins. He Is In Remission with less than 0.00001 signs of Leukemia.” What a joyful time it is for JT and the entire family! There were lots of tears and prayers before this news. I am happy to know that the tears and prayers are now those of thanks! In closing, the family and friends would like to extend their “Thanks” to you all for taking part in this very special day! With warm hearts, “We say THANK YOU!”

They began the spooky celebration by inviting kids out from 5-7 pm for trunk or treat and pumpkin decorating. The kids had a great time and had no problem with kicking off the fun this evening. Veteran’s Day In Cleveland County By Wally Wersching Friday, November 11 was Veteran’s Day. Cleveland County had a Veterans Day celebration. There was a small parade, and then a ceremony at the center of town on the Court Square in front of the old Court House, which is now the Earl Scruggs Museum. It was scheduled to start on the 11th day of the 11th month at 11am. I arrived at about 10:30, and there was a small crowd standing around as well as sitting in the many chairs provided. I parked “Miss Vickie” across the street with a couple other motorcycles. We had a very pleasant conversation. Both the men were fellow vets. They had been at the parade earlier to watch a young relative march with the Burns High School ROTC. They weren’t aware of the upcoming Veteran’s Day Ceremony. I explained what would take place, and they decided to stay. We walked across the street and mingled with the crowd. Members of the county’s veteran’s affairs were giving out programs, and small American flags. They are a friendly group of people. I see them every month when they host the veteran’s

get-together on Wednesday mornings. In the crowd, I met a few friends like the ex-mayor of Shelby, Ted Alexander. We had a pleasant conversation. I met other friends, too. Some I hadn’t seen since last year’s ceremony. It’s a very cordial setting. Then, the First Baptist Church of Shelby Youth Choir sang the National Anthem while everybody saluted the flag as the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard brought the flag to the stage. It’s always a moving moment when people show reverence to the flag. One of speakers who honored all the veterans of all the wars was Colonel (retired) Joel Rountree. First he gave an education talk on how Armistice Day evolved over the years to become Veteran’s Day. Then he told a story about how a group of his friends went off to war. Not all came home, and the ones who did, were changed – some with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Then, Chaplain Glen Davenport said a prayer for all the people in the service who are in harm’s way. The NC Foothill Detachment, Marine Corp League #1164 provided the three volleys, and the playing of Taps. I am always moved by the playing of Taps. It brings back memories of all the veterans who never made it home. The 3-volley salute is a ceremonial act performed at military funerals as part of the drill and ceremony of the Honor Guard. It consists of a rifle party firing blank cartridges into the air three times. It could be any number of riflemen. I have been to funerals where there was only a single rifleman firing the three volleys. The custom originates from the European dynastic wars, where the fighting ceased so the dead and wounded could be removed. Then, three shots were fired into the air to signal that the battle could resume. The three-volley salute should not be confused with the 21 gun salute (or 19-gun or 17-gun, etc.) which uses a battery of artillery pieces. I could tell that the ceremony was over when I watched the Marines picking up their spent brass. It was a great way to honor our servicemen and women. Later, Cindy and I went out for a delicious lunch.

Wanda Gail Davis Bullard’s Benefit And Memorial Ride November 5, 1957 - September 12, 2016

By: Trisha Beasley Photo by: Chi Force Wanda Bullard’s Benefit And Memorial Ride was October 1, 2016. Wanda was fifty-eight years old. Wanda passed away on Monday September 12, 2016. She was a homemaker, a wife, a mother, and a friend. Wanda was married to the love of her life, Felton Bullard, for thirty-seven years. She was the mother of two; a daughter, Samantha Bullard and her son, Brandon Bullard. Wanda was also a loving grandmother of four. She was fighting her second battle with cancer. The benefit ride was being planned for her as the financial hardship of medical expenses and treatment was rising. The event was schedule and held at Peter’s Creek Community Center in Roseboro. Wanda knew how much love was coming her way because she knew all about her very own, “Team Wanda!” She was happy about the planning of the event and had some pictures posted from the hospital. Wanda was smiling and waving in her pictures. Excited about a time for gathering, support, and love. She was called to be with the lord on September 12th. The family and friends decided to continue with the benefit as it had been planned and they felt that Wanda would

Blue Ridge H-D Celebrates Veterans Day Story by David Brown CDR USN (ret) Senior Naval Science Instructor South Caldwell High School Photo by Jeff Hill Blue Ridge Harley-Davidson in Hickory, NC, celebrated Veterans Day by inviting local area high school Junior Reserve Officersâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; Training Corps units to compete in a drill competition. The Veterans Day event was a unique experience for many of the high school cadets because they got a chance to compete against Army, Navy, and Air Force high school JROTC units. Seven high schools from Catawba, Burke, and Caldwell Counties competed in marching and drill events; including color guard presentations, armed drill marching, and unarmed drill events. Winners included; Bunker Hill High School for their color guard presentation, South Caldwell High School for armed drill squad, St. Stephens High School for un-armed squad drill, and West Caldwell High School for armed and unarmed platoon drill. Also winning trophies at the event were Newton-Conover High School and Maiden High School. Local area recruiters from all military services judged the event. A large number of veterans and JROTC cadet family

members attended the event. Local high school cadets took advantage of the opportunity to get to know local veterans as well as students from other high schools and JROTC units. The Hickory Naval Aviation Museum attended the Veterans Day event and brought their Navy F-14 Tomcat fighter aircraft cockpit display. Cadets, parents, and veterans alike enjoyed the opportunity to climb into the cockpit and see what it is like

After lunch, the Veterans Day Salute concluded with recognition of the members of the Catawba Valley Harley Owners Group Chapter, who are veterans, the traditional setting of the POW/MIA table, and a flag folding ceremony and presentation to Jeff Hill USAF Retired on behalf of all veterans in the HOG chapter. “It’s always a pleasure to not just see tomorrow’s heroes today, it’s always enlightening to watch them engage with the veterans,” said Steve Amari, Blue Ridge H-D Marketing Manager. “The F-14 was a hit last year and with the new paint scheme I think it was a bigger hit this year. By: Wally Wersching Every year from early November to just before Christmas, the weekends are full of toy runs to bring toys to needy children for Christmas. Charity runs can be anytime of the year to raise money for a family in need. There’s a deluge of toy runs every weekend until Christmas. Many are put together by motorcycle clubs, with the help of local towns, to raise money and bring toys for a specific charity. Sometimes the police or the military get involved, too. “Toys For Tots” has the US Marine Corps Reserves doing most of the logistic work. The “Kops Kids” has the local police involved. Most of the larger runs have a police escort with all the intersections blocked off in order for the long column of motorcycles to run smoothly to the destination. Toy runs are always very festive. People who haven’t seen each other for some time are renewing old acquaintances, while others meet for the first time to start a lifelong friendship. Some people come in costume, and decorate their bikes. There are always a couple Santas for the children. A toy run is for the whole family. Last year, I attended Toy Runs as large as 1,100 bikes, and as small as around 100. The size does matter because it reflects on the amount of toys and money that will go to the charity. That’s why the weather

plays a very important role in the success of the run. Sunny warm days will bring everybody out, where cloudy, cold, or rainy (or snowy) days only bring out the die-hard riders. Toy and charity runs are great ways to raise money, and toys for people who need help. It’s a win-win situation where the charity gets what it needs while the participants have a good time, and usually a good meal and entertainment to follow. It’s hard to find any experience where you can hang with friends, and eat good local food along with getting that warm feeling by doing something for others – all for around twenty bucks. This year, there are again many toy runs in the area. There is at least one every weekend from now until Christmas. The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine Cruisin’ Calendar is an ideal place to find one near you. Additionally, local papers, and Facebook pages have some listed, too. Get a great feeling, and go to one in your area. You’ll feel much better for it, and it will make a child happy during the Christmas season too. Remember that the gifts you bring are for kids of all ages, not just babies, so even though stuffed animals look great strapped to the bike, the kids could probably use other things, too.

Tommy Young Chicken Stew Benefit By: Caroline Last October 22nd Don Adams donated his culinary skills for his famous chicken stew to help out a fellow biker and HOG Chapter Member, Tommy Young. Tommy is a retired Winston-Salem police officer but suffers from Multiple Sclerosis complications of Lou Gehrig’s disease. The funds from this event are to help buy a power lift to transport him from his chair to the bed. This is a much-needed device since Tommy has lost a lot his mobility from this debilitating disease. It will also be a big help for his wife as a primary caregiver. After a short ride, led by the Winston-Salem HOG Chapter, the riders made their way back to Smokin’ Harley-Davidson for lunch. Tommy Young arrived shortly before the riders and was in good spirits greeting everyone and letting everyone know how much he appreciated their support. Folks who did not ride were welcome to come, donate, and eat of some of the best chicken stew in the state. A special thanks to Don, who frequently donates his time and energy for others in need and to Smokin’ Harley-Davidson, and graciously supports this and other fine events. Repo’s Poker Run By: Trisha Beasley Photo by: Chi Force On Saturday, October 22nd Repo’s Poker Run took place. There were a number of clubs, organizations, and individual riders that came out to support the cause. Today, the cause was Repo! Paul “Repo” King was involved in a motorcycle accident on September 11th. He sustained a number of injuries to include a broken leg, four broke ribs, broken collarbone and a punctured lung. To top the medial bills that he incurred due to the accident he was also unable to work for more than two months. Repo is a self-employed biker with no short-term disability, no workers comp, and no chance of additional assistance due to his temporary yet life-altering injuries. Those of us that try to make it own our own do not qualify in a lot of cases for the number of federal pots of money that are supposed to be for the assistance ARCHDALE DRIVE THRU of Americans to AKA utilize during such times of need. County Chapter of Confederate Riders stated that The Drunk Horse Pub and owners, Pawley & Heather, were most instrumental in planning a fabulous Poker Run for Repo. They set out to find a few other local businesses that had opening on that day and were willing to help. The Poker Run stops following Drunk Horse Pub were Redneck Yacht Club, Louie’s, and Legends Pub. The bikers returned to the Drunk Horse Pub for the auctions, raffles, good times, and an awesome feast for the riders and anyone else that wanted to buy a plate. I was able to interview a few of the Bladen County Chapter members to get some details for the background of the Run. The interviewers were TJ “Tinman” Rogers, James “No Show” Herring, and Monica “Lollipop” Hall. They all informed me that credit should go where credit is due. So they wanted to recognize everyone that took part in Riding For A Cause, for Repo! “As bikers, we stand up for our brother and that’s exactly what today is all about. Code Matters, when it comes to a brother there’s no doubt that we have to do what we can! We try to support in benefits to help bikers in need and today we are glad that Repo will recover and we are doing what we can now to help him until he is able to do that, Recover!” They also asked to convey a “Thank You” to The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine as they were in attendance and took part in a day of brotherhood with them. Trisha said, “It was an honor to be there and a lot of fun!” The day continued with all poker cards collected. Upon returning to the Drunk Horse Pub, hands were calculated and the winners were doled out their winnings. A round of applause was given as Monica “Lollipop” Hall of Confederate Riders returned her winnings to Repo. The family admiration was shown. The day continued with a great number of prizes that were collected and donated. The day ended with some celebratory Confederate Rider, Bladen County Chapter snap shots. The entire day was a lot of fun, prizes, winners, and most of all support for Repo. He was wearing a smile and gave a humble “Thank You” to all that came out to help, support, and worked collecting donations, making phone calls, and carrying the message that today, this was the place to be! “Thank you all so very much!” ~Paul “Repo” King.

Thomas And Trax By: Rick Gammons Thomas Wilkins has a lot of friends. They are mostly bikers, but there seems to be a bunch of others too. You see, Thomas is a very special young man. He has Cerebral Palsy, but that doesn’t hold him back. And his friends were all waiting for him at Trax Tavern in Thomasville. He was grinning from ear to ear when he walked in. That smile was his way of saying thanks to everyone there. You see, Thomas does not vocalize. Facial expression and some sign language is how he communicates. After greetings were exchanged inside, Thomas was helped back outside where the motorcycles were waiting for his inspection. Again, grins all over his face. His parents took him across the street where he was able to touch the motorcycles and be greeted by the riders. Trax was full. Not much room to get around. Then, just as quickly, the tavern almost emptied after a kickstands up call. Bikers moved across the street to their rides. Town erupted with the unforgettable sound of motorcycles being fired up. Forty-two motorcycles cruised through Thomasville and out to

Highway 109 for a ride to Denton, NC and Tamarac Marina to grab a beer before heading back. It was a good day for a ride and the bikes looked spectacular heading down 109. Peggy and I turned back just before Denton and returned to Trax. I was anxious to see how things were going on there. There were quite a few cars there and some motorcycles that did not make the ride. There were several people there enjoying each other’s company, enjoying drinks, and making awesome bids on a bunch of goodies in the auction. Most items there were donated by patrons of the bar and local businesses. There were also items donated from I.H. Caffey and R.H. Barringer, a couple of beer distributers from this area. The bid items were amazing. Gift cards, hats, coolers, and decorated (military) mirrors were among the items to be auctioned off. DJ Tommy Rock arrived and prepared to start slamming out some excellent tunes. Lots of 70’s and 80’s stuff (my favorite). He also plugged into the TV over his head and rocked some great video to go with the music. The bikers returned shortly afterward. Excited and thirsty, cold beer was soon in everybody’s hand and chatter about the ride was the topic of conversation for a bit. Soon after, the auction closed. I was truly moved by how generous everyone was. The party continued into the night, but Rick and Peggy did not. We held out as long as possible, but old folk like us can’t hang like we used to, so we went home and let the revelers have it. What a great day! The next day we dropped by to get the final count for Thomas. $5280! I am sure Thomas and his family were delighted with that amount. Hopefully, this will propel him forward toward a cure. They held a Chicken Stew and Chili Cook Off to raise money for this year’s Toys For Toys Ride to be held on December 3rd. The Overall Winner was Jill Stokes for her Chili. Evan March won 1st Place for his Chicken Stew. Other participates were The Marsh Pit, and Chili Donna Austin. There was lots of fun, food, and great entertainment provided by The Terrible Twos and Hedtrip. Many thanks to all who participated and all that came out to support this cause. This is just a start for the actual event. This is the 10th Annual Marine Riders group ride. Along with the Marines and sponsors, their wish is for this event to continue. As of this year, it will be and forever more known as The Barry “Old Dog” Glenn Toys For Tots Ride so he will always be remembered and respected for his many years of sponsoring this ride. The ride starts at Double D Burnout Saloon located at 1408 E. Mountain Street in Kernersville, NC on December 3rd. Registration starts at 10:30 and KSU at 12 noon. The ride will end at Double D for entertainment, food, raffles, and more. For those not riding, Royal Limousines will provide the party bus. Admission is a toy of $20 value or $15 for single driver/rider, and $5 per passenger. Come out join the fun and help many kids have a Christmas they may otherwise not get.

Christmas Tips And Ideas From Widowmaker Customs

By: Kathy Johnson The riding weather never really stops in the Carolinas, but it does tend to slow down a bit. So here are a few ideas for your bike so you can take full advantage when the weather isn’t in your favor. Some of you are new to riding or have a new ride. So Widowmaker CDR is giving you a breakdown on your basic service for beginners. If you took some super long trips, a good full service, to include changing all drive train fluids may be in order. A good inspection of the bike’s drive line components, belts, wheel bearings, brake pads, etc. is a good idea, too. Also consider a structural inspection of the bike, broken brackets, missing bolts, etc. Do not forget to check the condition and pressure of your tires. If you are planning to continue riding through the colder months simply keep up with your regular maintenance plans. Go over your service records with your mechanic and take advantage of the cooler months to address areas of oil leaks or things that were simply put off while enjoying the warm months. Now is the time to take advantage of getting work done that will not affect your normal riding season, like engine builds, cam up grades, or custom work. This is typically a bike shop’s slower season. That gives you the opportunity to get a jump on your work now, so you’re not last in line when the weather turns warm again. This is a great time to do paint and body repairs or just freshen up your bike’s look. By: Jeanie Hood-Carter October 15th, Lowlife Air Suspensions, a division of Strutmasters held their Annual Charity Benefit Ride. Lowlife is an American made “custom per bike air suspension system” company located in Roxboro, NC. The Bikers For Bikers Foundation was named the receiving charity for this year’s event. The annual ride stops were Strutdaddy’s, Thunder Roads Harley-Davidson, and the Virginia International Raceway, then back to Strutmasters for the finale featuring a catered Bar-B-Q meal with excellent pulled pork, and the trimmings including soft drinks and cookies. There were several vendors including Thunder Roads H-D giving away tees and a cutie named “Red” who showed me how lady bikers in Virginia dip Copenhagen! Tom McGrath’s trailer was set up and passing out cool items, as well as Lowlife Suspensions showing off some amazing suspensions and cool bikes. Topping the event off was the $500 for high hand being awarded and entertainment by Shifters Nightlife Entertainment Band. Dancing in the parking lot and admiring the cool bikes was a fun time had by many. They even have a museum! The hosts were great and everything was well coordinated. Thanks to the hosts and sponsors Lowlife Suspensions, Tom McGrath and his team, Virginia International Speedway, Strutdaddy ‘s, and Thunder Roads Harley-Davidson.

By: Darby Dillard A big “thank you” to each and every person that helped with the Nazareth Children’s Home 4th Quarter Birthday Party in any way! Our year started off with a bit of a hiccup, at the 1st Quarter Party, but each one there after, (2-4) seemed to go just fine and I can’t thank you enough. The people who hung in there, and stayed the course made 2016 another very good year for BikersWithaCause at Nazareth! Thank you very much! On 10-22-16 the weather was great and the turnout was very good as well for our final birthday party of 2016. We enjoyed our ride and the time spent with the young people at Nazareth. (I know when I call them “children”, the teenagers all roll their eyes at me). Columbia ABATE Indian Summer Membership Drive

By: Kickstart & Donut October 22 was a great day for the Columbia ABATE riders and members. The sun was shinning all over us. This was a make up day for the event that was originally to be held on October 8, but some bad weather changed some things. This gave more people a chance to come on out for good time. We all gathered at Pam’s Front Porch at 7332 Parklane Road in Columbia, SC. We had a big time with awesome friends. We had a mechanical bull to play on hoping to win a $40 bar tab. We had the Jeff Crider Band to entertain us with some go ole music that that played for hours. There were lots of food, prizes, drink specials, and giveaways. There was also a 50/50 drawing to make things more exciting. It was a great turn out for this wonderful chapter and the Columbia riders signed up several new members this day and that was what it was all about. So much was going on this day that is was a success. The Columbia ABATE Riders are trying to grow their chapter this year and it is going to be a good year for them in 2017. CWC ABATE Turkey Shoot & Benefit Run For Sam Willard By: Kickstart & Donut Saturday, November 5, 2016 was a great day for bikers to come together to support a fallen rider. The accident happened on 8-20-16 and put Sam in the hospital for weeks, Sam just joined the CWC ABATE Chapter a few months prior to the accident. The chapter decided to put together a little support event to help cover expenses until he gets a chance to get back on his feet and get back to work. There was a fundraiser on October 2nd and lots of people came and supported it and it was awesome, but the CWC ABATE Chapter wanted to help as well and support our brother and fellow member. We did our part as a great chapter and pulled off a wonderful thing to give back to this great man. We all meet at Animal’s in West Columbia to register for a nice ride at 11:30 am. Kickstands went up at 12:30 pm to ride over to the Bar Of Lexington after we got everyone together

we went to our final stop at T&D Social Club in Pelion SC, where the good times would make the a day blessing. We had food made and donated by several chapter members. Thank you, you know who you are. We had a nice crowd to show up that was not able to be there from the start but they made the most important part at the end. We had some good friends come together and give some biker support. The turkey shoot was fun to do also. We didn’t know we had so many friends that like to pull the trigger for such a good cause. We want to thank all the people, friends, bikers, and family that came out on this great day to support a good friend that is in need. Remember to tell them all to LOOK TWICE FOR MOTORCYCLES. Jacobs Run 2016

By: Johnny Reb November 5th started out as a cold ride to Hometown Harley-Davidson, but soon warmed up and turned into a beautiful day for a ride. I pulled in to Hometown and was immediately struck by the number of bikes and people supporting this great cause. Here’s a little background on this benefit ride. This run is dedicated to the memory of Jacob Floars, a young man who was sadly killed as a passenger in a car wreck. He was only 17 when he went to be with the Lord. While on earth though, he was known for his charitable ways and giving heart. All the funds raised will benefit the Children’s Hospital. There were many, many vendors, selling everything from biker jewelry to food. I found a really cool Confederate ring that I just had to have! The food was great and I chowed down on a sausage dog and chips. Hometown Harley-Davidson kicked ass making sure that

everything was perfect for this big day. There was plenty of space for parking and the vendors were right where they should be for people to shop. Hometown Harley-Davidson always has their stuff together when it comes to things like this, Chris Riley the general manager always gets it done right. I talked to the guy who was directing the bike lineup and parking. He said that at the last rough count, there were 650-700 bikes present. That was still fairly early, so I don’t know what the final count was, but it was a very good turn out. There was a wide variety of bikes too! I saw a Moto Guzzi, an Indian, a wide variety of metrics, and, of course, a bunch of Harley-Davidsons. I really enjoy walking through the lineup and seeing everything from cool bobbers to decked out dressers. It just shows the wide variety of bikers who come out to support a great cause like this. Hipsters to grey beards, we all care about doing good things for people. The list of clubs that showed up are as follows, Bikers For Christ MM, Tuscarora MC, (who had a wedding to get to! Congrats Rooster!), Frog Level MC, who are always at charity benefits, a great bunch of brothers! Iron Order MC, Ghost Riders MC (Lenoir County), Forgiven Sons MC, Dixie Steel MC, Street Hawks MC. As always, if I have missed anybody, no disrespect intended. All in all, it was a great day for riding or just hanging out with old friends and making new ones. I hope that there was a lot of money raised for the Children’s Hospital, but the important thing was, it was a great day to remember a young man with a giving and kind heart. Bikes And BBQ In The ‘Boro By: Wally Wersching On October 29th, the people in the small town of Ellenboro, NC showed their giving spirit when they held a fundraiser for Amy Warlick and family at the old Ellenboro School Fairgrounds. Amy was recently diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer only one week before learning she was pregnant with their second son, Graham. This was an opportunity for the entire community to come out, and show their support. The event included BBQ, live music, a car show, and a police escorted benefit motorcycle ride. The $20 registration fee included a BBQ lunch, and 5 raffle tickets for a chance to win Yeti merchandise. Registration for the motorcycle ride began at 12 noon and ride left at 1pm for a short ride on the scenic back roads in the area. It was an unseasonably warm day for the end of October so I decided to take “Miss Vickie” for a ride to Ellenboro. I couldn’t make it for the benefit ride, and arrived at about 3pm. Many of the over 100 bikers who were on the ride had already left, but there were still quite a few bikes in the large parking area. I took some pictures of a few of them leaving before I walked to the main area for the food, music stage, and car show. I met Mike from the Carolina Faith Riders, and his wife. They were relaxing in the shade after the ride. There were many other local biker ministries in attendance. The area has many churches that support biker ministries. As I looked out at the cars in the car show, I immediately noticed the “Waterfall Grill” of an old Buick. I knew that I’d be taking some pictures of that car later. After visiting with Mike for a few minutes, I walked out to the field. There

were the usual cars in the car show Camaros, Firebirds, Fords, Chevys, MOPARs, and a few unusual ones – like the Buick. They all had buckets in front to hold the votes cast for the car. I took pictures of the interesting ones as I made my way to the Buick. I learned that it was an all original 1950 Buick Special Sedanette four-door fastback with only 25,000 actual miles. It was beautiful – from the “Waterfall Grill” and gun sight hood ornament, to the three iconic vent holes in the hood, all the way back to the fastback tail section. It had a straight-eight engine, and standard transmission. The sign said that it was purchased new in nearby Forest City, NC. It would be fun to drive it anywhere. A few cars from the Buick was a 1926 Ford Model T. I was glad to see that it was owned by a young couple. There are too many gray haired people who own vintage cars. What will happen to the old car hobby when the old people pass on? We need to get younger people interested in old cars. I stayed until about 4pm, and then headed home. It was a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon. I hope that next Saturday has another fun event.

19th Annual Red Springs Toy Run

By: The Old Man On November 12, 2016 the Red Springs Rotary Club welcomed 250 bikes and over 300 riders and friends to the 19th Annual Red Springs Toy Run. Bikers from near and far enjoyed a beautiful cool day riding to provide Christmas for children in seven locations in Robeson, Scotland, and Hoke Counties.

After riding thru Pembroke we were welcomed at Golden Corral in Laurinburg for hot coffee and a rest break. After the break we rode on through Wagram into Raeford and returned to Red Springs where hot food and refreshments waited. The Rotary Club provided hamburgers, hotdogs, baked beans, and slaw. Two special treats were provided. James Jones, Southern Regional Medical Center, cooked his special chili and Philip Smith made his famous Chicken Bog. As everyone was being fed the entertainment cranked up in the Fire Department open bay. Local recording group Black Velvet provided a variety of music to please all gathered. Drawings for door prizes, 50/50, and a beautiful leather jacket, provided by Mark and Sandy Caskey of Merritt’s Jewelry & Pawn in Red Springs, exchangeable for the correct size at Baker American Cycles in Fayetteville, ended the day’s activity. The employees of Red Springs and a multitude of volunteers from the community plus several bike groups help to make all run well. Thank You All! A special thank you to the Red Springs Fire Department and Bleecker Buick GMC. We look forward to seeing you all back next year on 11/11/2017.

By: Johnny Reb It is just amazing how fast the weather changes here in the great state of North Carolina! At the beginning of the week it was in the 80s and by Saturday the 22nd we woke up to lower 50s and windy! Well, the Black WASP and I headed down the road to Lenoir Community College in Snow Hill for the Greene Central High School JROTC Benefit Ride. The event was scheduled to kick off at 10 am, but we waited a little longer for more bikes to show up. As it turned out, we only ended up with 8 bikes. It was a little disappointing, and I felt bad for the kids. This ride was to help raise money so the cadets could take children, who are a little less fortunate, Christmas shopping for a few toys. Well, since we didn’t get the turnout that we had hoped for, 1Sgt Bottoms, the cadet leader, and I decided to give the money to a flood victim, who was with us on the ride. She was still having to stay in a hotel since she couldn’t move back to her house yet. We are hoping to raise money before Christmas, selling food plates to help the cadets do the charity work that they would like to do. Anyway, we did go on a nice, if not a little chilly, ride. We went out through Stantonsburg and down 264 to Farmville and back to Snow Hill. The wind was really kicking up, but it was still a nice ride. I want to thank the Lenoir County Ghost Riders MC, once again. They are at every charity and benefit ride that I go to! The Legion Riders from Kinston won the trophy that I had made for the club with most member participation at the event. I would also like to thank Chris Connely for his help getting the word out over Facebook. 1Sgt Bottoms for all his hard work and the Greene Central JROTC Cadets, who really tried hard to make this event successful. Bro & Bro-ettes Thanksgiving will be here and gone by the time this issue is out. I just want to ask a question. What does Thanksgiving mean to you? What are you thankful for? A lot of people are writing on Facebook each day of November what they are thankful for, which is good but we need to be thankful everyday all year long. I’m thankful for being able to write this article each month, and for my home, my health, my family and friends. I’m thankful for the years Tank and I had together and for the kids he gave me and for all the memories. My kids have given me the greatest gift a family can give you and that’s my grandkids (which are growing up too fast). If you are above ground you should be praising and thanking the good Lord for it. The most important thing is that the Lord has not given up on any of us. I would hate to think where I would be if he had. Daniel 2:23 I thank You and praise You, O God of my fathers; You have given me wisdom and might. And have not made known to me what we ask of you. For you have made known to us the kings demands. Psalm 100: 4 Enter into His gates with Thanksgiving and into His courts with Praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. Christmas will be here before long. Some people don’t even

know what Christmas is all about. It’s not about putting up a Christmas tree or decorating our homes or even the gifts or a fat man in a red suit, even though nothing is wrong with that as long as your beliefs are right. It’s about the birth of Christ. Luke 2:7, 9-14 And she brought forth her firstborn Son and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for Him in the Inn. And behold an angel of the Lord stood before them and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you.
