Jan – Apr 2018
Welcome to the Spring season at Carriageworks Theatre We want to share with you a dynamic range of shows, events and activities taking place in your city centre theatre and hope that this brochure captures your imagination and gives you all the tools to make 2018 a year to remember. Carriageworks Theatre is a place where old meet new. Built as a carriage manufacturer in 1848, the Victorian building has since been re imagined as a cultural hub in the city centre. As well as presenting some world class theatre productions, music, drama, comedy and dance; we also continue to support wonderful local performing arts organisations and societies to deliver their own home-grown shows as part of our vibrant programme. This Spring season is no exception. Whether you’re 2 or 102 we aim to offer you something that tickles your fancy. Here’s a little taster of a few of our favourite shows not to be missed this season: Daunting dinosaurs, daring pirates and distinctive sausages, all feature in this wonderful reimagining of the beloved children’s book by Giles Andreae and Russell Ayto. Following a highly successful run at the Edinburgh Fringe 2016, Captain Flinn and the Pirate Dinosaurs 2: The Magic Cutlass sets sail to Leeds. Award-winning children’s theatre company Les Petits bring stories to life in creative and exciting ways. Some say she oscillates wildly between Sylvia Plath and Beyoncé, like Belva Lockwood fused with your drunken aunt. Comedian Tiff Stevenson is described as switched on and opinionated in her critically claimed tour Bombshell. Noble Jacks are fresh from Glastonbury Festival with roof raising energy and whose folky, foot stompin’ rhythm will be raising the roof in The Studio. Following a critically acclaimed USA tour this incendiary, intelligent debut from Royal Exchange Supported Artists, Knaïve Theatre, provides fresh perspective; creating within the unthinkable a space for debate and dialogue. Bin Laden: The One Man Show is a powerful and thought provoking performance.
We’ve changed our booking fees All of our prices displayed in advertising and across the brochure are inclusive of our 6% booking fee. What you see is what you pay.
