Bite My Thumb, Foot of the Barrel, Gravitas Entertainment and Northern Spark present

By Paul Allen from the screenplay by Mark Herman With live music from the City of Bradford Brass Band and BD1 Where there’s muck there’s brass... and there’s still almost a hundred years’ worth of profitable coal in the Grimley colliery seam. Yet the miners who stood firm throughout the 1984 strike now face a renewed redundancy ballot that threatens to consign both their livelihoods and a century of brass band tradition to extinction. Based on the 1996 hit Brit flick of the same name, Brassed Off captures perfectly both the resilience and despair of an era in which successive Conservative governments ripped out the heart of the community and then came back for its soul.

Shazia Mirza The Kardashians Made Me Do It

‘My mum can’t find me anyone to marry.’ My friend Matthew looks at me with great concern and says, ‘You’re not thinking of becoming a jihadi bride are you?’ Would I do that? The weather in Britain isn’t great and the sunsets and landscape in Syria are meant to be very romantic… I’d get a husband, and would definitely get a place in heaven. Yes I’d miss my hair straighteners and hot pants, but that’s a small price to pay.

Amazing Grace ‘What if we’re not the leads in our own stories, but rather just the supporting roles in the lives of others?’ So says Lockwood, who is most definitely the lead in this story. This is a story about love – love of oneself, romantic love, familial love – and death, and the uncertainty and fear that induces. Amazing Grace condenses Lockwood’s life down to the four key incidents that have shaped him, asking questions and giving only some indication as to the possible answers... Contains strong language, drug references and scenes of a sexual nature.

In addition to the 349 seater Main Auditorium, a further six meeting rooms are available for conferencing, meetings and workshops, accommodating various numbers of delegates. All conference rooms come with AV equipment, air conditioning and support from a dedicated commercial team. Three of the six meeting rooms are situated in the historic part of the old Carriageworks development. These attractive meeting spaces reveal exposed brickwork and roof beams in keeping with the Victorian architecture whilst providing a light and airy studio feel. These rooms are also available to hire at a competitive rate for evening rehearsals, special occasions, workshops and classes. Please visit www.leedsvenues.org.uk or email carriageworksvenue@leeds.gov.uk for more information.
