Local Soccer Club Goes to Disney South Jersey Academy Futbol Club U17 Crew plays at 2015 Disney College Showcase
After watching just about every shot he put up miss the mark for three quarters, Warriors senior Jack Sheehan stepped up as the long-awaited answer to Manasquan’s early offensive woes. Sheehan scored nine straight Manasquan points to spearhead a fourthquarter surge that lifted the top-seeded Warriors to a 57-50 win over the No. 2 Mariners, giving them their first ever WOBM Christmas Classic title and Sheehan tournament Most Valuable Player honors. “My teammates were sinking some shots and they played huge,” Sheehan said. “I just had faith that my shot would fall later. We knew we had a run in us. It was a great job just persevering, getting through it and being determined. It’s just great to get a win.” Continue reading on page 6.

Nissan TITAN XD North American Truck/ Utility of the Year finalist
• Nissan TITAN XD announced as one of three finalists for prestigious award • The winning vehicle will be named at a special ceremony held at the 2016 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit in January • All-new 2016 Nissan TITAN XD adds honor to recent Truck of Texas award • 2016 Nissan TITAN XD Crew Cab goes on sale in late December
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The all-new 2016 Nissan TITAN XD full-size pickup has been named one of three finalists for the 2016 North AmericanTruck/Utility of the Year (NATOY), an annual award selected by an independent, self-funded jury made up of a group of automotive journalists from across the United States and Canada. The announcement of the finalists for both the North American Truck of the Year and the North American Car of the Year was made today at the Automotive Press Association luncheon in Detroit. Now in its 23rd year, the NATOY jury selected the finalists from a list of trucks and sport utility vehicles that set new benchmarks in the classes in which they compete. The jurors evaluated TITAN XD and 11 other semi-finalists on the ballot based on factors including: value for the dollar, innovation, handling, performance, safety and driver satisfaction. More than just a new model, the 2016 Nissan TITAN XD stakes out a unique position in the segment between traditional heavy-duty and light-duty entries. The bold new design combines the capability of a heavy-duty hauler with the drivability and affordability of a light-duty pickup. It is anchored by a powerful 310-horsepower Cummins® 5.0L V8 Turbo Diesel and mated to a heavy-duty 6-speed Aisin automatic transmission, and has a maximum towing capacity rating of more than 12,000 pounds when properly equipped.

CAR WARS THE STYLE AWAKENS
It was a long time ago in a galaxy far far away… *cough* excuse me I’m starting to get a little too much into the story. Before you say it, I know… the Tech guy writing a Star Wars spoof… big surprise on that one! If you actually look in deeper into the title up top, you will see that the classic saga is true in the car world as well. Car Companies are constantly fighting it out for your loyalty, respect, love, and admiration. Sometimes this fight falls on the Light (wisdom) or Dark (passion) sides and the consumers are the ones that win. I have looked at the product lines for new ideas and picked out two cars that have really taken this battle seriously (and only just recently). Representing the Light Side is the 2016 Nissan Sentra. When you think of Sentra, you are probably thinking dull little econo box that is only for commuters… right? Nissan has been really conservative up until last year when the new Maxima rolled into the showrooms. The 2016 Sentra is not a new design, but a “midcycle refresh”, taking cues from the new maxima with available LED low-beam projectors; 17” alloy wheels, a redesigned aerodynamic exterior, and Intelligent Cruise Control. The inside is full of the latest technology that the Japanese company can throw into the vehicle. You get an available safety items like: Forward Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Warning, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. The fun tech items are here too like Nissan’s “Nissan Connect” that can sync some of your apps on your phone with the systems (Pandora, Facebook, etc) and you also get “SIRI eyes free” that will let you talk with your favorite phone buddy without picking up your phone. The new Sentra goes on sale this winter and it should be a force to contend with. Representing the Dark side is the all new 2016 Honda Civic. The Civic has for the longest time been the ultimate
The TITAN XD full-size pickup was also recently named “Truck of Texas” by the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) in their annual 2015 Texas Truck Rodeo, which puts the industry’s best trucks, SUVs and CUVs through a grueling two-day evaluation at the historic Knibbe Ranch in Spring Branch, Texas. In addition to the competition’s top award, Truck of Texas, the new TITAN XD won three other honors – Luxury Pickup Truck of Texas, Off-Road Pickup Truck of Texas and Best Powertrain for its standard Cummins® 5.0L V8 Turbo Diesel engine. The TITAN XD’s long list of innovative technologies includes an Integrated Trailer Brake Controller, Trailer Sway Control (TSC), Tow/Haul Mode with Downhill Speed Control and a Trailer Light Check system that allows one-person hookup operation – including checking turn signals, brake lights and running/clearance lights. Assisting trailer hook-ups is a RearView Monitor with Trailer Guides. TITAN XD also offers an available Around View® Monitor (AVM), which provides a unique “bird’s eye” view of the surrounding area to help with parking and pulling in and out of tight spaces. The system includes Moving Object Detection (MOD). Two trailer hitches are available, including an integrated gooseneck hitch engineered into the frame and easily accessible in the bed. The 2016 TITAN XD is offered in five grade levels: S, SV, SL, Platinum Reserve and the sporty PRO-4X grade with standard off-road features such as 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels with all-terrain off-road tires, Bilstein off-road shock absorbers, electronic locking rear differential and skid plates. The TITAN XD Platinum Reserve grade features premium leather-appointed heated seating, dark chrome exterior trim, two-tone paint treatment, leather-wrapped steering wheel with wood insert, 20-inch dark chrome aluminum-alloy wheels and much more. Following the launch of the 2016 TITAN XD Crew Cab in December, the new TITAN will be offered in three cab configurations, two frame sizes, three powertrain offerings and five grade levels. More information on the full lineup will be available at a later date. www.nissannews.com
two sided car. One side you have a conservative commuter car the other is a legend in the tuning crowd with most starter cars being a Civic of some type. This new civic cranked up the dial to 11! With a fierce new shape and distinctive cut lines this is no refresh but a whole new car! You get available LED Lights (the cool ones like on the Acura’s have), rain sensing wipers, and a cap-less fuel filling system. The biggest thing is the Civic with the available Turbo… huh Turbo?? Yup! This new Civic has a turbo! You get a 1.5L 4cyl Turbo which is good for 174hp @ 6,000rpm’s; you can always opt for the standard 2.0 engine that is good for almost 40mpg, that is mated to a CVT transmission to optimize fuel efficiency. The interior has an all new gauge cluster with spiffy new color gauges that sit right behind your steering wheel; you also get a sleek looking infotainment system in the speedometer. Honda’s updated “Honda Link” system that has both Apple Car Play and Android auto is in the main console of the car with and easy to use layout. You also have some great available features like: Honda’s Lane keeping system, adaptive cruise control, and the awesome “Lane Watch”. There are very nice safety features like Collision Breaking System, Road Departure Mitigation, Forward Collision Warning, and Lane Departure Warning…. Not to mention it’s a Honda! If you want a little more performance you can get the Si and coming later the infamous Type-R! Just like in the line of the upcoming Star Wars movie, there has been an awakening… have you felt it? Honda and Nissan’s designers have gone above and beyond their comfort zone and started to think outside the box with aggressive styling that everyone can like. So pick you side.

FIRST COMPRESSED how to: NATURAL GAS AND PROPANE-CAPABLE 2016 FORD F-150 ROLLS OFF THE LINE
The first 2016 Ford F-150 with the ability to run on clean-burning compressed natural gas has rolled off the assembly line, making Ford – America’s truck leader – the only manufacturer to offer a CNG/ propane-capable half-ton pickup. The 2016 Ford F-150 with 5.0-liter Ti-VCT V8 engine is available with a factory-installed, gaseousfuel prep package that includes hardened valves, valve seats, pistons and piston rings so it can operate on natural gas, propane or gasoline through separate fuel systems. “It’s exciting to see the first F-150s with the CNG/ propane-prepped 5.0-liter V8 headed to customers,” said Jon Coleman, Ford fleet sustainability and technology manager. “Whether running on gasoline, gaseous fuel or both, the 5.0-liter V8 F-150 offers hardworking customers terrific towing and payload and now, the ability to operate on alternative fuel.” When equipped with a bi-fuel CNG/propane engine package, the 5.0-liter V8 F-150 is capable of achieving more than 750 miles on combined tanks of gasoline and CNG, depending on tank size. The Ford F-150 with 5.0-liter V8 has an EPA-estimated rating of 22 mpg on the highway and 18 mpg combined. Green Car Journal recently named the 2016 F-150 its 2016 Green Truck of the Year™, in part due to the availability of the gaseous-fuel prep option. CNG/LPG engine prep from the factory costs $315 before the customer chooses a Ford Qualified Vehicle Modifier to supply fuel tanks, fuel lines and unique fuel injectors. Upfits run approximately $6,000 to $9,500, depending on fuel tank capacity.
You’ve already given up on your New Year’s plan to eat healthy, save more, exercise often?
capable vehicles With production of the 2016 F-150 now under way, Ford Motor Company offers eight factory-available vehicles with a gaseous-fuel prep option – more than any other North American automaker. In addition to F-150 with 5.0-liter Ti-VCT V8, these include: • F-250 and F-350 Super Duty pickup with 6.2-liter V8 • F-350 to F-550 Super Duty chassis cab with 6.2-liter V8 or 6.8-liter V10 • F-650 and F-750 chassis cab with 6.8-liter V10 • F-53 and F-59 stripped chassis with 6.8-liter V10 • Transit Connect van and wagon with 2.5-liter I-4 • Transit van, wagon, cutaway and chassis cab with 3.7-liter Ti-VCT V6 • E-Series cutaway and stripped chassis with 6.8-liter V10
Benefits of compressed natural gas and propane Compressed natural gas is mainly comprised of methane. It is stored and distributed in hard containers at a pressure of around 3,600 psi. Approximately 85 percent of the CNG used in the United States is produced domestically. Another benefit of this alternative fuel is cleaner emissions. A vehicle operating on CNG can reduce tailpipe CO2 emissions by approximately 20 percent compared with the same vehicle running on gasoline. Propane autogas, also known as liquefied petroleum gas, is a mixture of hydrocarbon gases, most commonly propane and butane. Approximately 90 percent of the United States’ propane supply is produced domestically. -www.media.ford.com

Me, too. But that’s OK! It really is! Pick your yoga mat back up and keep going. The truth is, for all our excuses about not having enough time to fit in healthy cooking or run 365 miles with Mark Zuckerberg or figure out where to cut spending, failing to adhere to resolutions is mostly mental. Here are some steps from the American Psychological Association for sticking with resolutions. Start small “I’m going to lose 5 pounds a week by exercising an hour every day.” Uh, good luck with that. Instead of going big, go home and do something reasonable. If you haven’t been exercising at all, resolve to go for a daily walk, or exercise a couple times a week to start. Instead of resolving to cut out dessert, the APA suggests you “try replacing dessert with something else you enjoy, like fruit or yogurt, instead of seeing your diet as a form of punishment.” Don’t change everything at once The “new you” doesn’t have to be COMPLETELY new in January. As you list your goals for 2016, attack one behavior at a time. Maybe cut down on sweets in January, and once you’ve started to get the hang of that, move on to less booze in February, start jogging in March, begin piano lessons in April, clean out the garage in May, learn Spanish in June (wow, that’s some list you have). Don’t go it alone Verbalize your goals to others who will support you, and maybe some of them will go on the journey with you. I’m part of an exercise group on Facebook, and I find inspiration from others doing the same thing helps me stick to my workout program better. I also have more discipline when I know they’re expecting me to update them on my progress. Also, if you feel really overwhelmed and unable to move forward, the APA suggests you seek professional help. No surprise that a group of psychologists would recommend therapy! However, “psychologists are uniquely trained to understand the connection between the mind and body,” the APA points out. “They can offer strategies as to how to adjust your goals so that they are attainable, as well as help you change unhealthy behaviors and address emotional issues.” Failure as an option News flash: You might backslide. Maybe you already have (says the journalist eating McDonald’s fries while she types this). To err is human. But don’t beat yourself up about it, cautions the APA. “Perfection is unattainable.” When you get off track, get back on and move forward, because “everyone has ups and downs.” OK, just one more fry. Done!

4 Causeway Gazette New Honda Road Readers Program January 2016
Designed to Encourage Children to Use Their Imaginations During Drives
The average family spends about four hours per week in the car. Honda wants families to put that time to good use. Today the brand is launching Honda Road Readers, a new app (available on Apple® and Android™) providing Honda drivers free access to children’s audiobooks to expose children to great literature and foster their imaginations. An introductory video to the program will be promoted on Honda’s social channels, using the hashtag #HondaRoadReaders. “The goal for the Honda Road Readers program is to provide an educational and entertaining alternative to the usual car ride and inspire young listeners to vividly imagine,” said Susie Rossick, Assistant Vice President, Honda/Acura Regional Media and Marketing at American Honda Motor Co., Inc. “This effort is a powerful demonstration of our commitment to the brand’s ‘Power of Dreams’ philosophy by encouraging our customers and their families to dream big together.” To add to the experience, most books are supported with critical-thinking questions aimed at getting parents and children to dive deeper into each story. Honda has also teamed up with the National Teacher of the Year Program run by the Council of Chief State School Officers to provide a curated selection of books that will be both entertaining and intellectually stimulating. “Students learn best when they have enthusiastic teachers, and parents are a child’s first and most important teacher. Honda Road Readers will help families share the infectious fun of reading together on journeys of the mind, the imagination and the heart,” says Rebecca Mieliwocki, the 2012 National Teacher of the Year and 7th-grade English teacher in Burbank, Calif. “Reading not only boosts academic success but also awakens a person’s social and civic sense. They help us know and be mesmerized by the world around us and give us a sense of how we fit in. Simply put, books change lives for the better.” Honda recently commissioned a surveysi of more than 1,500 parents with one or more children ages
5 to 16 and learned that 77 percent of parents think listening to books or stories read aloud is very important for children’s cognitive development and developing listening skills. The survey also revealed that parents (69 percent) are concerned that their children are spending too much time in front of screens (cell phones, computers and TV). They are equally aware that their children are not reading books for fun and have fewer opportunities to use their imagination these days. A Honda Road Readers infographic summarizing the survey findings can be viewed on Honda’s Pinterest and Tumblr pages.

Jack Sheehan leads Comeback as Manasquan Tops TR North in WOBM Final
Causeway Family of Dealership sponsors for 32nd Year
In a game in which it found second-and third-chance opportunities to be abundant but actual baskets hard to come by, the Manasquan boys basketball team just hoped at some point the ball would start going in the basket during its WOBM Christmas Classic championship-game showdown with defending champion Toms River North. It’s just great to get a win.” Sheehan’s 10 fourth-quarter points were part of a 14-point game for the senior guard, as well as part of a 20-4 Manasquan run that closed out the final six-plus minutes. Toms River North led 46-37 early in the fourth quarter before the
helped Manasquan overcome a poorshooting first half by giving his team multiple opportunities during most of its trips down the floor. It also helped lead to a 27-7 advantage in attempted foul shots, of which Manasquan made 17 and Toms River North just three. “I’ve been rebounding great, and I was just trying to grab as many as I could today,” Jensen said. “I felt like that was important today, because it leads to offense – either getting it out, up the floor in transition or on second-chance points. “When shots aren’t falling like they weren’t for us in the first half, we needed to figure out how to score and get stops any way we could. In the second half, we came out and took two charges, got the ball back a couple times and things kind of slowly shifted for us.” Senior Shane Flanagan helped keep the Warriors afloat in the first half by scoring all nine of his points before the break on three three-pointers. Flanagan, along with junior Brian Paturzo, also keyed the defensive effort on Toms River North guard Mike Nyisztor, who finished with seven points and had only four before a three in the final 10 seconds with the game all but decided. Paturzo also added nine points, including six in the second half.

Ryan’s Recreational Review By Ryan Tacovsky – Sales Associate and Outdoor Enthusiast even a rich experience just to hang out in the lodge and take in everything surrounding you. If you have never skied or snowboarded before you can get lessons and rent equipment there if it is something you are interested in trying. I remember my first time going skiing and it is an experience I just will never forget. Everything from getting off the ski lift for the first time to busting my butt trying to stop when you pickup to much speed going down the mountain, and everything in between made it a great experience.
Winter time in New Jersey is when things seem to slow down, but there is still fun and adventure to be had. We have had a very warm December and now January is here and the cold weather is coming in strong, with that comes snow and that means snowboarding, skiing and snow tubing for a lot of people. If you have not experienced the mountains in New Jersey during the winter time you are missing out. It has all ways been a pleasurable experience when the friends, family and I take a trip to northern Jersey to go on a ski and snowboard trip.
It is a great family weekend trip too. There is more to do then just what is on the mountain. Surrounding you is beautiful landscapes and views you just can’t get in southern Jersey. You can also rent ATV’s, and snowmobiles and go out into these wonderful landscapes for an off road snow adventure. You might even run into some of our amazing NJ wildlife while riding around as well.

Healthy Foods of The Year
1. Apples
Apples are an excellent source of antioxidants, which combat free radicals. Free radicals are damaging substances generated in the body that cause undesirable changes and are involved in the aging process and some diseases.
2. Almonds
Almonds are rich in nutrients, including magnesium, vitamin E, iron, calcium, fiber, and riboflavin. A scientific review published in Nutrition Reviews3 found that almonds as a food may help maintain healthy cholesterol levels.
3. Broccoli
Broccoli is rich in fiber, calcium, potassium, folate and phytonutrients. Phytonutrients are compounds which reduce the risk of developing heart disease, diabetes and some cancers. Broccoli also contains vitamin C, as well as beta-carotene, an antioxidant.
4. Blueberries
Blueberries are rich in fiber, antioxidants and phytonutrients. Phytonutrients are natural chemicals found in plants. Unlike minerals and vitamins that are also found in plant foods, phytonutrients are not essential for keeping us alive. However, they may help prevent disease and keep the body working properly.

6. 7. 8.
Oily Fish
Examples of oily fish include salmon, trout, mackerel, herring, sardines and anchovies. These types of fish have oil in their tissues and around the gut. Their lean fillets contain up to 30% oil, specifically, omega-3 fatty acids. These oils are known to provide benefits for the heart, as well as the nervous system.
Leafy Green Vegetables
Studies have shown that a high intake of dark-leafy vegetables, such as spinach or cabbage may significantly lower a person’s risk of developing diabetes type 2.
Sweet Potatoes
Sweet potatoes are rich in dietary fiber, beta carotene, complex carbohydrates, vitamin C, vitamin B6, as well as carotene (the pink, yellow ones).
Wheat Germ
Wheat germ is the part of wheat that germinates to grow into a plant - the embryo of the seed. Germ, along with bran, is commonly a by-product of the milling; when cereals are refined, the germ and bran are often milled out.
9. Avocados
Many people avoid avocados because of its high fat content; they believe that avoiding all fats leads to better health and easier-to-control body weight - this is a myth. Approximately 75% of the calories in an avocado come from fat; mostly monosaturated fat.

winter RECIPE Absolutely Ultimate Potato Soup
I have made this for many whom have given it the title. This takes a bit of effort but is well worth it. Please note: for those who do not wish to use bacon, substitute 1/4 cup melted butter for the bacon grease and continue with the recipe. (I generally serve this soup as a special treat as it is not recommended for people counting calories.)”
Ingredients: • 1 pound bacon, chopped • 2 stalks celery, diced • 1 onion, chopped • 3 cloves garlic, minced • 8 potatoes, peeled and cubed • 4 cups chicken stock, or enough to cover potatoes • 3 tablespoons butter • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour • 1 cup heavy cream • 1 teaspoon dried tarragon 3 teaspoons chopped fresh cilantro salt and pepper to taste
Directions: 1. In a Dutch oven, cook the bacon over medium heat until done. Remove bacon from pan, and set aside. Drain off all but 1/4 cup of the bacon grease. 2. Cook celery and onion in reserved bacon drippings until onion is translucent, about 5 minutes. Stir in garlic, and continue cooking for 1 to 2 minutes. Add cubed potatoes, and toss to coat. Saute for 3 to 4 minutes. Return bacon to the pan, and add enough chicken stock to just cover the potatoes. Cover, and simmer until potatoes are tender. 3. In a separate pan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour. Cook, stirring constantly, for 1 to 2 minutes. Whisk in the heavy cream, tarragon, and cilantro. Bring the cream mixture to a boil, and cook, stirring constantly, until thickened. Stir the cream mixture into the potato mixture. Puree about 1/2 the soup, and return to the pan. Adjust seasonings to taste.

Kids Craft: Tissue Paper Night-Lights Any kind of glass jar is perfect for this project... You can use a jelly jar, a fancyshaped jar, a baby food jar--whatever you like. Supplies: • tissue paper • jar • glue • water • paintbrushes • battery-operated tea lights • paper plate Directions: First choose your favorite colors, and either cut or tear them into smallish bits. (It’s always fun to tear up paper!) Then add a splash of water and a bit of glue into a small bowl, and mix the two liquids together. You may choose to cover your entire jar with glue at this point, or to work in smaller areas--it’s up to you! Madeleine chose to work in sections, spreading her colors around. I love when she has a vision and knows just how she wants to make it! Once you have the jar mostly covered and are covering empty spots (should you want them covered), it’s easy to pick up the jar and turn it upside down to add your final touches. When it’s covered to your satisfaction, finish it off with a layer of glue, pressing all the tissue flat against the jar. We set the jar outside to dry for a bit, then noticed that it had a few “empty” spots... Madeleine decided that just wouldn’t do, so she repeated the last two steps (hooray for adding more color!)... Then it was really done! Put on a lid, if you think it should have one (paint the lid first, if you’d like), and then go find exactly the right spot for your beautiful new light-light. Perfect!

For patients contemplating hip replacement surgery, the anterior procedure is an option with great benefits and is offered at only a handful of hospitals in Ocean county. Southern Ocean Medical Center in Manahawkin is one of the few locations currently offering this procedure. Total hip replacement (also called total hip arthroplasty) is most often performed by surgeons entering the hip joint from the back or side (the Posterior or Lateral approaches, respectively). These approaches involve splitting muscles or separating them from bone. The Anterior approach for total hip replacement is an alternative which has certain benefits compared to the posterior and lateral approaches. With the anterior approach, as it is currently performed, the surgeon accesses the hip joint from the front and works inbetween the muscles, without detaching them from the pelvis or femur (thigh bone). This procedure requires special training on the part of the surgeon, and investment in a suitable operation table by the hospital. Southern Ocean Medical Center has invested in this type of special operating table, which allows the leg end of the table to be lowered during a certain part of the surgery. This enables better access to the upper end of the femur for preparation of the bone and placement of the femoral component of the hip replacement, which are vital to the success of the procedure. There are three main advantages of the anterior approach for total hip replacement: 1. Since the surgeon does not cut muscles, there
Simply Hair
is less pain after surgery and, therefore, less need for narcotic medications. The rehabilitation is also easier, with less limping and better overall function of the operated limb. 2. There is greater stability of the ball and socket of the replaced hip joint. The hip is held in place by the muscles until a new capsule forms around the joint. Since the muscles are not cut with this approach, improved stability means that patients have less restrictions imposed on their activities (socalled “hip precautions.”) They do not usually need to use special chairs or raised toilet seats and can start driving sooner, without the risk of dislocating the hip joint. 3. Because the surgery is performed with the patient in the supine (lying flat) position, fluoroscopy (known as “live x-ray”) can be used during the operation, to guide the bone preparation and ensure accurate fit and positioning of the hip implants, thereby improving the safety of the surgery and longterm survival of the hip replacement. This may well be the greatest benefit of the approach. The Anterior approach is still major surgery, but patients regain good function in a much shorter period of time. In fact, many patients get back to a nearly normal lifestyle within two or three weeks after having their hips replaced by the anterior approach. SUPER PLUNGE XII SET FOR SUPER BOWL SUNDAY
BRANT BEACH – The 12th Annual Super “Plunge” Sunday is scheduled for Super Bowl Sunday, February 7, 2016 at 1:00 PM. Participants are invited to brave the icy, cold Atlantic Ocean, and will have plenty of time to be home for the big game.
Super Plunge XII, a fundraiser organized by St. Francis Community Center and the Swim Teams of Southern Regional High School, will take place at the 48th Street Beach in the Brant Beach section of Long Beach Township.
The “Plunge” has become a popular community favorite during the winter doldrums on Long Beach Island. The event grows in participation each year.
Pre-registration is required. Registration will take place at the Community Center on Saturday, February 6 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, and on Sunday, February 7 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Registration forms can be picked-up in advance at the front desk of the Community Center, or printed from our website, and mailed to St. Francis Community Center, Attn: Super Plunge XII, 4700 Long Beach Blvd., Long Beach Township, NJ 08008-3926. The fee is $30 per person on or before February 6 and $35 on Plunge day. The student registration fee is only $15 on or before February 6 and $20 on Plunge day. Participants are encouraged to seek sponsor donations in addition to their registration fee. The Sponsor forms can also be found on-line.
All registered participants will receive a commemorative t-shirt. T-shirts will also be available to spectators for purchase after 12:00 PM on “Plunge” Day. Wristbands will be issued to all participants and must be worn at time of the plunge. Plungers should bring with them their courage, bathing suit, towels, blankets and whatever else is needed to warm-up after the ocean dip. Costumes of all kinds are also encouraged.
There will be post-plunge festivities back at the Community Center immediately following the plunge. Hot chocolate, coffee, tea and goodies will be served to help warm-up everyone, and prizes will be awarded: youngest plunger, oldest plunge, best costume, most funds raised overall and more!
The drawing for the $5,000 Travel Voucher Raffle will take place shortly after the awards ceremony. The winner will receive a $5,000 Travel Voucher from Home Town Travel located 145 N. Main Street, Manahawkin, NJ. Only 1,000 tickets are sold and tickets are only $25.00. The tickets are currently on sale at the Community Center and an online mail order form is available at: www.stfranciscenterlbi.org.
