CAUSEWAY HYUNDAI IS ON THE MOVE!

Manahawkin- It has been a year and a half since the Causeway Family adopted its newest family member Hyundai. With the addition came a very large building with a very small parking lot and many other inadequacies. To resolve these problems a few possibilities were laid on the table. One was to build a new building on 72 next to Lucille’s Candy, that lot was not ideal though. The next idea was to take the building between Causeway Ford and Causeway Nissan, and possibly renovate it for Hyundai’s new home. We knew that Hyundai Corporate would have very specific requirements for the building design and overall appearance. That meant meeting after meeting to get approvals from Hyundai and of course Stafford Township too. After several months of back and forth Causeway received approvals from Hyundai and Stafford Township as well. The building at 405 Rt 72, that was home to Suzuki, “Luxury Imports”, “SureSale Certified”, and “CarSmart Certified”, will officially be the new home for Causeway Hyundai! This current structure will need to be demolished to make room for the completely new and modern Hyundai approved design. The benefits of having the Hyundai store on the same “Campus” as the other Causeway stores will be many. For one, it will create an “Auto Mall” shopping experience for all of our current and future customers. The new modern facility will provide Hyundai shoppers and owners with a first class Hyundai experience. Upgrades on the logistical front will be having all Hyundai inventory in one place. Rather than having to drive 2 miles down 72 to find the right Hyundai.

MOVING SALE STARTS NOW!

Causeway Hyundai’s current location at 551 Rt 72 Manahawkin

Now then you might be asking when does this exciting event actually happen? Well with any large project “stuff ” happens. Unexpected issues with utilities, delays in planning board meetings etc., etc., etc. That being said we are closer now than we have ever been. The plan remains that Causeway Hyundai will move into its new home by October of this calendar year! Stay tuned for updates on the destruction and construction!

WINTER 2018

THE HISTORY OF PRESIDENTS’ DAY

Presidents’ Day is an American holiday celebrated on the third Monday in February. Originally established in 1885 in recognition of President George Washington, it is still officially called “Washington’s Birthday” by the federal government. Traditionally celebrated on February 22—Washington’s actual day of birth—the holiday became popularly known as Presidents’ Day after it was moved as part of 1971’s Uniform Monday Holiday Act, an attempt to create more three-day weekends for the nation’s workers. While several states still have individual holidays honoring the birthdays of Washington, Abraham Lincoln and other figures, Presidents’ Day is now popularly viewed as a day to celebrate all U.S. presidents past and present. ORIGIN AS WASHINGTON’S BIRTHDAY The story of Presidents’ Day date begins in 1800. Following President George Washington’s death in 1799, his February 22 birthday became a perennial day of remembrance. At the time, Washington was venerated as the most important figure in American history, and events like the 1832 centennial of his birth and the start of construction of the Washington Monument in 1848 were cause for national celebration. While Washington’s Birthday was an unofficial observance for most of the 1800s, it was not until the late 1870s that it became a federal holiday. Senator Steven Wallace Dorsey of Arkansas was the first to propose the measure, and in 1879 President Rutherford B. Hayes signed it into law. The holiday initially only applied to the District of Columbia, but in 1885 it was expanded to the whole country. At the time, Washington’s Birthday joined four other nationally recognized federal bank holidays— Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, the Fourth of July and Thanksgiving—and was the first to celebrate the life of an individual American. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, signed into law in 1983, would be the second. THE UNIFORM MONDAY HOLIDAY ACT The shift from Washington’s Birthday to Presidents’ Day began in the late 1960s when Congress proposed a measure known as the Uniform Monday Holiday Act. Championed by Senator Robert McClory of Illinois, this law sought to shift the celebration of several federal holidays from specific dates to a series of predetermined Mondays. The proposed change was seen by many as a novel way to create more three-day weekends for the nation’s workers, and it was believed that ensuring holidays always fell on the same weekday would reduce employee absenteeism. While some argued that shifting holidays from their original dates would cheapen their meaning, the bill also had widespread support from both the private sector and labor unions and was seen as a surefire way to bolster retail sales. The Uniform Monday Holiday Act also included a provision to combine the celebration of Washington’s

to many Americans as Presidents’ Day. This shift had solidified in the early 2000s, by which time as many as half the 50 states had changed the holiday’s name to Presidents’ Day on their calendars. Some states have even chosen to customize the holiday by adding new figures to the celebration. Arkansas, for instance, celebrates Washington as well as civil rights activist Daisy Gatson Bates. Alabama, meanwhile, uses Presidents’ Day to commemorate Washington and Thomas Jefferson (who was born in April).

DID YOU KNOW? President’s Day never falls on the actual birthday of any American president. Four chief executives—George Washington, William Henry Harrison, Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Reagan_were born in February, but their birthdays all come either too early or late to coincide with Presidents’ Day, which is always celebrated on the third Monday of the month. Birthday with Abraham Lincoln’s, which fell on the proximate date of February 12. Lincoln’s Birthday had long been a state holiday in places like Illinois, and many supported joining the two days as a way of giving equal recognition to two of America’s most famous statesmen. McClory was among the measure’s major proponents, and he even floated the idea of renaming the holiday “President’s Day.” This proved to be a point of contention for lawmakers from George Washington’s home state of Virginia, and the proposal was eventually dropped. Nevertheless, the main piece of the Uniform Monday Holiday Act passed in 1968 and officially took effect in 1971 following an executive order from President Richard Nixon. Washington’s Birthday was then shifted from the fixed date of February 22 to the third Monday of February. Columbus Day, Memorial Day and Veterans Day were also moved from their traditionally designated dates. (As a result of widespread criticism, in 1980 Veterans’ Day was returned to its original November 11 date.) TRANSFORMATION While Nixon’s order plainly called the newly placed holiday Washington’s Birthday, it was not long before the shift to Presidents’ Day began. The move away from February 22 led many to believe that the new date was intended to honor both Washington and Abraham Lincoln, as it now fell between their two birthdays. Marketers soon jumped at the opportunity to play up the three-day weekend with sales, and “Presidents’ Day” bargains were advertised at stores around the country.

Washington and Lincoln still remain the two most recognized leaders, but Presidents’ Day is now popularly seen as a day to recognize the lives and achievements of all of America’s chief executives. Some lawmakers have objected to this view, arguing that grouping George Washington and Abraham Lincoln together with less successful presidents minimizes their legacies. Congressional measures to restore Washington and Lincoln’s individual birthdays were proposed during the early 2000s, but all failed to gain much attention. For its part, the federal government has held fast to the original incarnation of the holiday as a celebration of the country’s first president. The third Monday in February is still listed on official calendars as Washington’s Birthday. CELEBRATIONS AND TRADITIONS Like Independence Day, Presidents’ Day is traditionally viewed as a time of patriotic celebration and remembrance. In its original incarnation as Washington’s Birthday, the holiday gained special meaning during the difficulties of the Great Depression, when portraits of George Washington often graced the front pages of newspapers and magazines every February 22. In 1932 the date was used to reinstate the Purple Heart, a military decoration originally created by George Washington to honor soldiers killed or wounded while serving in the armed forces. Patriotic groups and the Boy Scouts of America also held celebrations on the day, and in 1938 some 5,000 people attended mass at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City in honor of Washington. In its modern form, Presidents’ Day is used by many patriotic and historical groups as a date for staging celebrations, reenactments and other events. A number of states also require that their public schools spend the days leading up to Presidents’ Day teaching students about the accomplishments of the presidents, often with a focus on the lives of Washington and Lincoln.

He supported the movements of the Federalist Party, although he never officially joined it. He opposed the 1765 Stamp Act, the first direct tax on the colonies. His economic policies were widely known as the Reaganomics which reduced the tax rates for rapid industrial growth and also controlled the money supply for inflation reduction. He led an invasion to reverse a Communist coup in Grenada whereas he also escalated the War on Drugs. With his campaign “”Morning in America” he was re-elected again in in 1984 as the president of U.S.A.

Theodore Roosevelt was the amalgamation of explorer, politician, author, historian and naturalist, and was the youngest person to serve as the President of the United States at the age of just 42. The 26th US president was the founder of the Progressive Party and also one of the most influential leaders of the Republican Party. He, with his slogan, “Speak softly and carry a big stick”, was known for his robust masculinity and “Cowboy” mannerism. His book, The Naval War of 1812, established him as a famous writer and historian around 1882. His face was sculpted on Mount Rushmore along with Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and George Washington. His domestic policies, “Square Deal”, included the reduction of railroad rates, guaranteeing pure food and scheduled drugs along with breaking up capitalism. He was also the first president to lead a conservation project.

7. Thomas Jefferson

8. Harry S. Truman

Thomas Jefferson, the founding Father and the third President of the United States, was the principal architect of The Declaration of Independence in 1776. He also served as the Governor of Virginia at the beginning of the American Revolution and was the first United States Secretary under President George Washington. Later, he organized the DemocraticRepublican Party with his friend, James Madison, to oppose Alexander Hamilton’s Federalism, and resigned from the cabinet of Washington. Thomas Jefferson started the Revolution of 1800 where he regained control of Louisiana Territory from France. He was also the one to conduct the Lewis and Clark Expedition to explore the west. Thomas Jefferson initiated the removal of Indian tribal from Louisiana Territory to accommodate more free lands to the eventual American settlers.

Harry S. Truman was elected after President Roosevelt’s death in 1945 as the 33rd President of the United States. America successfully emerged victorious in World War II under him, but as an effect, there was a strain in the relationship between his country and Soviet Union, which later initiated the Cold War. Nazi Germany surrendered a few weeks after Truman had started his presidency. He approved the use of atomic weapons as the final step in the war with Japan, which was expected to last a few more years. Harry S. Truman issued the Truman Doctrine and also launched a $13 billion Marshall Plan to reconstruct Europe after World War II. He commenced Berlin Airlift in 1948 and also created NATO in 1949. During the war between North and South Korea, he sent U.S. troops and got the UN approval to join the war.

9. Woodrow Wilson

10. Grover Cleveland

Thomas Woodrow, the leader of the Democratic Party, was the 28th President of the United States. Before his presidency, he was the President of Princeton University and the Governor of New Jersey. Child labor was first restricted by his Keating–Owen Act in United nation. He maintained neutral policy during the outbreak of World War. In 1916, with the slogan, “He kept us out of war”, he was re-elected and declared war against submarine warfare by Nazi Germany.

Grover Cleveland is the only president to serve two nonconsecutive presidency terms as the 22nd and 24th President of the United States. He was the prime leader of Bourbon Democrats and opposed high tariffs and imperialism. He proposed the subsidy to business and farmers which made him an icon for American conservatives. He followed classical liberalism and restlessly fought bossism and political corruption. The Panic of 1893 hit the nation during his second term of presidency, which produced national depressions. Those depressions ruined his Democratic Party and opened way to the Republican landslide in 1894. By Anne Green February celebrates American Hearth Month, a great time to commit to a healthier lifestyle through simple changes. Cardiovascular disease is the nation’s number one cause of death of men and women and approximately 85.6 million Americans live with some form of cardiovascular disease or the after effects of stroke. The good news is, it is never too late to take action to prevent and control the risk factors of heart disease. “Making heart-healthy choices, knowing your family health history and the risk factors of heart disease and having regular check-ups and working with your physician to manage your health are all important aspects of saving lives from this often silent killer,” says family medicine physician, Dr. Laura Tavarez. Heart disease can lead to disability and a significantly decreased quality of life. Knowing your risk factors is vital to maintaining good heart health. Major risk factors include: high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, obesity, physical inactivity, diabetes, chronic kidney disease, smoking, heredity and age. Many people can prevent or manage heart and cardiovascular disease by making healthy choices in their day-to-day lives. Dr. Tavarez suggests these heart-healthy guidelines: Follow a healthy diet. Increase your daily intake of fruits and vegetables, legumes, and whole grains and, eat more chicken and fish and less red meat. Limit or eliminate fast food and processed foods and regulate your salt and sodium intake to 2,300 mg per day. If you drink alcohol, do so in moderation; no more than 2 drink a day for a man, 1 for a woman. Get three cups of fat-free or low fat milk or dairy

products every day. Exercise more. Regular exercise keeps your heart and body in shape. Start slowly and increase your activity gradually to at least 30 to 40 minutes of moderate to high intensity activities, 4 to 5 days a week. This can be done by taking a brisk walk. Do weight training and stretching exercises 2 or more times per week that will work all major muscle groups. Always check with your doctor before starting any exercise program if you have been sedentary or have a chronic disease. Stop smoking. Smoking is a major risk factor. Decide to quit and set a quit date. Ask your doctor for information about aids to help you stop smoking like nicotine patch or inhale, medicines, and a counseling or support program. Learn to relax. Certain psychosocial factors such as grief, depression, and job loss contribute to heart attack and cardiac arrest. Stress can affect risk factors for heart disease such as high blood pressure and increased heart rate. You can reduce stress and better cope with life’s pressures by taking a positive instead of negative in outlook on life. Exercise (try yoga) and take 15 to 20 minutes a day to sit quietly and breathe deeply. Take time for yourself, read a book, listen to music, or enjoy a hobby. Finally, get together with friends and volunteer in the community. Take charge when it comes to your heart’s health. To do so, work with your physician to reduce your heart disease risk by following up with him or her for treatment for high blood pressure and cholesterol levels. 2018 Nissan Kicks compact crossover New Nissan model set for spring release features expressive style, personal technology, intelligent safety, efficient powertrain and strong value positioning

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The brand-new Nissan Kicks becomes the newest entry in the fast-growing affordable compact crossover market when it hits Nissan U.S. dealerships in June 2018. Kicks also becomes the sixth member of the Nissan crossover and SUV lineup, which has experienced record sales in recent years. As the gateway to Nissan’s adventure-ready sportutility portfolio – joining Rogue Sport, Rogue, Murano, Pathfinder and Armada – Kicks is designed to fit the needs of singles or couples looking for unique styling, roominess, personal technology, smart functionality and advanced safety features at an affordable price. This emerging CUV class is exploding with new entries for a very good reason – the combination of flexible utility and high value is ideal for active, urban new vehicle buyers,» said Dan Mohnke, senior vice president, Sales & Marketing and Operations, Nissan Division U.S., Nissan North America, Inc. «Where the new Nissan Kicks stands out is with its bold style, personal technology, value and anticipated fuel economy1 of 33-mpg combined. Dramatic, Brazil-Inspired Design The new 2018 Kicks presents an expressive sense of style and substance with a wheel-oriented stance and Nissan brand signatures viewed from every angle. The production Nissan Kicks retains the basic design cues taken from the Kicks Concept – first shown at the 2014 São Paulo Motor Show. Overseen by Nissan’s Global Design Center in Japan, Nissan Kicks is the result of close collaboration between Nissan Design America (NDA), based in San Diego, and Nissan’s Rio de Janeiro satellite studio, Nissan Design America – Rio (NDA-R). Kicks combines emotion and practicality by blending familiar Nissan design signatures with striking modern themes. Among those established design signatures are Nissan’s V-Motion grille, boomerang headlights and taillights, and the floating roof with a «wrap-around visor» look to the windscreen and side glass. In particular, with the wide C-pillar «hidden» with a black finish that blends into the tailgate glass, the floating roof has been exaggerated on the Kicks, giving it a distinctive and eye-catching appeal. These themes are augmented by a number of dynamic styling features, such as the bold wheel arch fenders and the rising character line on the bodysides that accentuate the car’s crossover stance and inherent strength. This high waistline contributes to a sense of security and well-being for passengers, especially those in the rear, yet still allows excellent outward visibility for all. In addition, the dark lower body trim magnifies the body height, emphasizing the high ground clearance and helping resist scrapes. Available exterior features include standard Intelligent Auto Headlight (I-AH) with adjustable sensitivity and timing (including twilight and wiper activation), rear wiper and roof rails – along with available LED low-beam headlights with LED signature accents, fog lights, heated outside mirrors with integrated turn signals and rear roof spoiler. The 2018 Kicks will be offered in a range of seven

exterior colors – plus five two-tone combinations. Three of the two-tone color schemes utilize a black roof and contrasting body colors (white, orange or red). Also offered: an orange roof with gray body, and a white roof/ blue body combination. Smart Interior, Personalized Technologies Inside, the Kicks story is one of quality and futuristic design in a cabin full of the innovative features expected by its tech-hungry target audience. The interior promises ample passenger space in the rear – despite the coupe-like roofline – as well as one of the largest load areas in its class. Front seat occupants face Nissan’s modern and simple “Gliding Wing” dashboard design, which is dominated by a centrally mounted 7.0-inch full color display housing a comprehensive infotainment system with available Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ smartphone connectivity. “The idea behind personalized technology is to allow drivers to do what they want, where they want,” said Mohnke. “For example, they can access mpg numbers, chassis dynamic control, radio/playlist information on the meter screen or on the audio display. You decide what to look at where.” Kicks also offers three interface choices for accessing social media – NissanConnectSM, Apple CarPlay™ or Android Auto™.

close-ups of the front, rear and curb-side views. It also gives the driver an on-screen heads-up when it detects moving objects near the vehicle. This is class-leading technology3 in this emerging U.S. CUV segment and offers a step on the road to Nissan Intelligent Mobility. The versatile Kicks interior also offers a sporting flavor – provided by a flat-bottom steering wheel, comfortable 6-way driver’s seat, 4-way adjustable front passenger seat and 60/40-split fold-down rear seat. Heated Prima-Tex™-appointed front seats are available with the SR Premium Package. Other available interior features include leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, tonneau cover and Automatic Temperature Control. A Crossover for the city The robust design of Kicks, which helps give drivers the confidence to comfortably navigate the city, is reflected in its stance. The Kicks has a ground clearance of 7.0 inches, allowing it to tackle poorly maintained roads and speed bumps with ease, without having an adverse effect on the handling. Kicks also offers efficient packaging for urban adventure use. The rear hatch opens high enough for a six-foot tall person to access the cargo area without having to duck. Kicks easily accommodates five passengers comfortably, thanks in part to the flat rear floor design and rear headroom and legroom that is similar to that of larger crossovers.

And, for the ultimate audio experience, the Kicks SR Premium Package includes the new class-exclusive2 Bose® Personal® Plus sound system. Part of the Bose® Small “With good ground clearance, a high eye point, Vehicle Series, it delivers a superior, driver-focused listening electric power steering and small turning radius, Kicks experience using just eight speakers and proprietary Bose® is a great companion to navigate the city with,” added signal processing to provide what Bose® calls “360 degrees Mohnke. of immersive sound.” Key to its dynamic sound are a pair Every 2018 Kicks comes with a standard 1.6-liter of lightweight 2.5-inch Bose® UltraNearfield™ neodymium speakers located inside the Kicks’ driver’s seat head DOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder with Continuous Variable Valve Timing Control System (CVTCS). THE 2019 FORD RANGER by Jason Halliday

When someone thinks of a small pickup truck one of the top choices is the Ford Ranger. Even with this iconic truck getting axed from the lineup in 2012, we thought all hope was lost. But before you give up everything you might want to know that Ford is bringing back in its smallish pickup truck, and it even has four full doors too! The Ranger actually never went away at all, it’s been in production actually everywhere else but the US. Many people think it was to boost up the numbers on F-150 sales, while others think it was because the old ranger never really changed much from the original design in 1983. The Ranger platform was used for the First two generations of Explorer, Bronco II, Mercury Mountaineer, and Ford Explorer Sport-Trac. The 2019 Ranger based on the European and Australian models is very updated when compared to its predecessor. It comes in three trim levels XL, XLT, & Lariat. It also has fun new colors like Saber (a bright orange), Lightning Blue, Hot Pepper Red, Absolute Black, Magnetic (Dark Grey), Ingot Silver, White Platinum, and the good old Oxford White. There aren’t any details on the interior colors, but you can expect black or grey. There is also an offroad package that you can add, it comes with skid plates, all-terrain tires, and an angle display so you can see how your truck is doing. There is a new feature called “Trail Control” Think of this as an off-road cruise control, it will automatically control the brake and gas to keep the vehicle at a constant speed between 1 and 20 miles per hour. There is also a dial that can control 4 different terrain modes like grass, gravel, snow/mud/rut/sand, and normal. It also has an electronic locking rear differential so you can get the truck up most anything. The only engine that they are advertising at this point is the 2.3 Ecoboost engine with Ford’s unique 10-speed transmission. There is also Adaptive Cruise Control that will automatically slow down if someone slows down in front of you. There is also Lane Keeping Assist that will warn you if you start to drift in the lane then steer you back into the middle of the lane. There is also Pre-collision Assist with pedestrian detection. This couldn’t be complete without Ford’s one and only Blis system that will light a warning in either of your side mirrors letting you know someone is in your blind spot. For all of you tech people out there, you can get Ford’s new Ford Pass Connect

feature that will turn your car into a WI-FI hotspot that you can use up to 50 feet outside the vehicle. Ford still hasn’t released pricing for this new truck; however, most people we talk to are really excited when they can actually see this vehicle. You can sign up for updates on Ford’s website so you’re not left out of the loop. This new

Ford Ranger platform is actually the base for the new Ford Bronco that is coming out, it’s supposed is more like the Jeep Wrangler than the 90’s Bronco that you all remember. It doesn’t matter if you’re a big or small truck person when you stick with a vehicle that is built Ford Tough you can’t go wrong!

ALL-NEW LINCOLN NAVIGATOR NAMED NORTH AMERICAN TRUCK OF THE YEAR

DETROIT, Jan. 15, 2018 – The all-new Lincoln Navigator has been named North American Truck of the Year, marking the first time a Lincoln vehicle has captured this prestigious honor, now in its 24th year. The 2018 Lincoln Navigator took the honors over the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 and all-new Ford Expedition to win the award presented today at the 2018 North American International Auto Show. “Lincoln is honored to be named the best among such a strong field of competitors,” said Kumar Galhotra, president, The Lincoln Motor Company. “The entire Lincoln team is very proud of the work that was done to create a truly differentiated, luxury Lincoln experience in our all-new Navigator.” North American Car, Truck and Utility of the Year awards are based on innovation, design, safety, handling, driver satisfaction and value. Nearly 60 veteran journalists from the United States and Canada vote for the vehicles, which must be all-new or substantially changed from the previous model to qualify. Modern luxury plus advanced technology Navigator is Lincoln’s flagship SUV, combining modern luxury with advanced technology to elevate family travel to first-class. A modern design turns heads, while Navigator’s smooth power helps families move confidently along the road. A luxurious, spacious interior allows first-class seating for everyone aboard, with 10 power outlets to keep all passengers charged and connected.

The refined capability of the all-new Navigator is unmatched. It’s powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine that delivers 450 horsepower and 510 lb.-ft. of torque, and offers the most towing capability in its class – up to 8,700 pounds.

With Nautilus, Lincoln moves away from alphanumeric names So where does that leave Lincoln? Despite the baggage, Zephyr is a legendary name for the brand that harkens back to its pre-war heyday, while Aviator seems like a natural fit for the company’s new naming scheme.

Lincoln will drop the confusing three-letter series of names present on most of its models, Kumar Galhotra, Ford’s chief marketing officer and group vice president for the Lincoln brand, told Motor Authority on Monday. The 2019 Nautilus, formerly the MKX, is the first to ditch the panned naming structure. And with this information in hand, what could Lincoln’s other trademarked name, Corsair, reveal? “We will be naming all of our vehicles moving forward,” Galhotra told Motor Authority ahead of the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show. “People just connect at a much more emotional level with the vehicle when it has a real name.” The 2019 Nautilus gives an indication of the theme those real names will follow, Galhotra says. MORE: 2019 Lincoln Nautilus improves on MKX in almost every way

There’s never been a Lincoln Nautilus before, but the brand chose it despite a raft of great (and occasionally tarnished) names to draw on, Zephyr being the most prominent (and most heavily tarnished). There’s also Aviator, which appeared on a sub-Navigator, Explorer-based model in the early 2000s. Galhotra hasn’t ruled out drawing on those historical names, although he said the company won’t draw on its history just for the sake of it.

It’s also worth pointing out that Lincoln trademarked the name “Corsair” a month before it reserved the rights to “Nautilus.” Automakers trademark names all the time, but the fact that Lincoln nabbed two vehicle names in one month and has already used one of them, combined with the fact that we now know the company will begin phasing out alphanumeric names makes it seem like a Lincoln Corsair could be right around the corner. Which vehicle Lincoln could attach that name to is another question, though. Ford just refreshed the MKC without changing its name, while a new Fusion/MKZ is due in 2019. But “Corsair” is more aggressive than either of those vehicles (it’s basically a polite name for a pirate or pirate ship), and somehow doesn’t feel right on such mainstream offerings. That has us thinking Lincoln could have something more sporting in the pipeline, although that’s purely speculation on our part.

“We’re looking at (the Lincoln brand) as a family of vehicles and therefore a family of names, with a theme of journeys and a theme of explorers,” Galhotra said. “Navigator obviously is navigator, Continental fits in that same theme. The root of the word ‘nautilus’ comes from “Lincoln has a lot of really interesting names in ‘nautis,’ the Latin for ‘sailor.’ So Nautilus also plays into its history,” Galhotra said. “And if some of those fit in that theme.” our future products, absolutely. If they don’t, we’re not But where Nautilus fits in with Lincoln’s new naming necessarily going to look at history just to find those strategy, it doesn’t necessarily fit into the brand’s history. names. But we have some great names in our history.”

At the very least, Lincoln’s decision is hopefully the start of a larger move in the auto industry, away from meaningless bundles of numbers and letters and onto names that actually mean something. We’re looking forward to it.

2019 HYUNDAI VELOSTER WILL MAKE ITS HOLLYWOOD DEBUT IN MARVEL STUDIOS’ “ANT-MAN AND THE WASP” DETROIT, Jan. 15, 2018 – Fans of Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man will soon be introduced to the stylish design and exceptional performance capabilities of the all-new Hyundai Veloster as it will play a significant role in Marvel Studios’ “Ant-Man and the Wasp”. Teaming up with this major franchise is part of a global marketing initiative to launch the newly redesigned sporty coupe while increasing Hyundai’s brand awareness with Marvel fans around the world. The 2019 Hyundai Veloster will find itself at home in the Super Hero world when it is used on screen in a hot pursuit. The heroic scene showcases the Veloster’s capabilities in serving as the ultimate escape vehicle as the tailing cars can’t handle the speed and handling of the Veloster—no matter its size. Success is a given when it comes to Marvel, and the Ant-Man franchise provides a platform for global visibility. Released in 2015, Marvel Studios’ “Ant-Man” achieved a global box office of $519M and quickly became a fanfavorite. The sequel is highly anticipated with talk of how the plot of the film could “shake up” the Marvel Cinematic universe. “This film is a roller coaster ride from start to finish that will encourage viewers to see their worlds through a more adventurous, action-packed lens,” said Mindy Hamilton, Marvel’s SVP of Global Partnerships & Marketing. “The Veloster totally exemplifies the energetic, no-holds-barred attitude that accompanies this franchise, and we’re going to have a lot of fun working with Hyundai to see how we can share that mindset with fans all around the world.” Other Hyundai vehicles will also be making their Hollywood debut in Marvel Studios’ “Ant-Man and the Wasp,” which will be released in theaters on July 6. About Marvel Studios’ “Ant-Man and the Wasp” From the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes “Ant-Man & the Wasp,” a new chapter featuring heroes with the astonishing ability to shrink. In the aftermath of “Captain America: Civil War,” Scott Lang grapples with the consequences of his choices as both a Super Hero and a father. As he struggles to rebalance his home life with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, he’s confronted by Hope van Dyne and Dr. Hank Pym with an urgent new mission. Scott must once again put on the suit and learn to fight alongside the Wasp as the team works together to uncover secrets from the past.

The new Rear Door Alert system is standard, too. It reminds the driver to check the backseat with an instrument panel warning, then a chirping horn if a rear door was opened before a trip but not opened again after the SUV was turned off. The base front-wheel-drive S trim starts at $31,765 including destination, and the front-drive SV starts at $34,455. These prices are $500 higher than last year, but the increase is reasonable given the additional standard features. The SL’s price jumps $1,400 to $38,475 for a

front-drive version, but navigation, NissanConnect telematics services and adaptive cruise control are now included in the price. A Midnight Edition appearance package that was offered on the 2017 Platinum trim shifts to the 2018 SL model instead later in the model year. The package includes black 20-inch alloy wheels and extensive use of black exterior trim. The Pathfinder is a roomy seven-seat SUV powered by a 284-horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6 engine that works with a continuously variable automatic transmission. Front- and all-wheel-drive models are offered. The SUV market is ultra-competitive these days, so it isn’t surprising that Nissan has made automatic emergency braking standard on the Pathfinder. The addition addresses one of the issues with the SUV, which finished last in a field of eight when we tested the 2017 version in our 2016 Three-Row SUV Challenge. Unchanged is the fact that the Pathfinder still doesn’t offer Apple CarPlay or Android Auto smartphone connectivity.
