OCEAN’S HARBOR HOUSE RECEIVES CAUSEWAY’S 50TH ANNIVERSARY GRANT By Kaitlyn Strohmeier In Celebration of The Causeway Family of Dealerships 50th anniversary, we continue with our yearlong campaign - Causeway’s 50 Golden Acts of Good - to help our neighbors and positively impact Ocean County. Anchoring this campaign is the Grant Giveaway program, through which Causeway awards a $10,000 grant to one Ocean County nonprofit every month, from January through November of 2019, culminating next December with the award of a New Ford Transit Connect Van. We are proud to announce our June $10,000 grant winner, Ocean’s Harbor House. Ocean’s Harbor House is dedicated to assisting homeless, runaway, abused, neglected and abandoned youth, ages 10-21. Their mission is to provide a safe haven and caring environment for vulnerable youth to enable them to unlock their potential and learn skills that will empower them to build healthier lives, relationships and futures. Located along the central Jersey Shore, they work with youth, ages 10-21, primarily from Ocean and Monmouth Counties. A smaller number of youth come from other various parts of the state. On average, they provide housing for 120 to 140 youth each year. Since 1988, Harbor House has helped tens of thousands of children and their families with temporary and transitional housing, counseling and supportive services. Further, their agency has utilized the skill and dedication of hundreds of staff and devoted community leaders, as well as countless volunteers – all driven to support their mission. Harbor House is proud to be affiliated with other local, state and regional agencies that help promote and support their efforts. This approach allows the agency to: Respect its heritage,

The goals of Ocean’s Harbor House: • To create and support services that will help youth transition safely to adulthood and lead healthy, productive lives. • To alleviate the problems of runaway, homeless and abused youth. • To reunite youth with their families and encourage the resolution of intra-familial problems. • To strengthen family relationships by promoting safe, stable living conditions for the youth. • To identify resources in the community and develop placement options for the youth that are homeless. • To develop services that embrace diversity and provide opportunities for youth to fully participate in the planning and implementation of programs which affect their lives, their families and their communities. • To be a voice for youth and families in need through community awareness, public education and advocacy activities. History Founded in June, 1985 by a group of concerned citizens and community leaders, Ocean’s Harbor House was created to address the needs of an emerging population: homeless youth. On August 8, 1988, the agency opened the doors to our Emergency Youth Shelter on Windsor Ave. in Toms River to provide a safe haven for five youth to help get them off the streets and out of abusive and dangerous homes. Through planned strategic activities, the agency has witnessed significant growth throughout its many years of operation to address the evolving needs of children and youth. In 2004, the agency expanded to another location on Conifer St. in Toms River and began to house youth in the Supervised Transitional Living Program (STLP). Once again, thanks to the generous support of the community, a 12-bed facility was constructed and currently houses youth ages 16-21.

Since then, two Ocean County programs have been added: the Family Crisis Intervention Unit (FCIU) and Electronic Monitoring (EM). These programs have enabled Ocean’s Harbor House to become a complete youth social services agency. Youth who participate in the STLP receive the following services: • Educational and Vocational Counseling • Job Search, Interview Skills, Resume Writing, SAT and GED preparation • Weekly Support Groups • Anger Management, Drug/Alcohol Prevention, Parent/Sibling Support, along with other groups pertaining to self-sufficiency • Referral and Case Management Services • Individual and Family Counseling Participants are offered secure and stable living conditions for up to 18 months. While staying within the STLP, these youth receive life skill counseling and training including budget/financial management, menu planning, nutrition and food preparation, use and management of credit, consumer education, housekeeping, personal hygiene, safety instruction, planning for leisure/ social activities and methods of obtaining vital documents (social security card, birth certificate, citizenship application, working papers, etc). The Family Crisis Intervention Unit is a county funded program within Harbor House, offering free counseling and case management services to Ocean County residents. Our counselors are trained and qualified to intervene in family crises, working with juveniles ages 10 to 18 years old and their families. At the Family Crisis Intervention Unit we aim to divert cases involving juvenile family crises from the courts by providing our families with the counseling, case management, and referral assistance needed to stabilize the immediate family crisis. Our counselors work to maintain a network of services and county agencies including police, schools, physicians, substance abuse services, and other juvenile agencies to coordinate services for our families.

More information on Harbor House • 24-hour Shelter Hotline – 732-929-0660 • All services are free, voluntary and confidential • Our 12-bed shelter provides a safe haven for youth in crisis, 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. With a goal of family reunification, our staff works closely with parents and extended family members to create a partnership that provides long-term family stability. • The program is licensed as an Emergency Children’s Shelter by the NJ Department of Child Protection and Permanency (DCP&P). The program also meets federal guidelines established by the US Department of Health & Human Services and Family & Youth Services Bureau. • Our core services include emergency shelter for youth ages 10-19, food, clothing and referrals to medical services. In addition, the program provides drop-in services, counseling, education, prevention, and case management services. • Youth, parents, police, schools and other community agencies can access the shelter through the 24hour hotline. The shelter is staffed around the clock so we can provide immediate assistance to youth and family in crisis. Our staff can also determine eligibility for admission. Youth who pose a danger to themselves or others may require referrals for alternate placement services, but our program may still provide a variety of non-residential support. • The Supervised Transitional Living Program (STLP) was established in 2001 by Ocean’s Harbor House to meet the needs of older youth, ages 16-21. In the past, these youth were too old for traditional shelter services, yet they still required supervised housing and/or everyday life skills in order to become selfsufficient, independent adults.

HOW TO MAINTAIN YOUR LIFESTYLE IN RETIREMENT
By Richard Galgano, Wells Fargo financial adviser "You may have heard the rule of thumb that you need to replace about 80% of your preretirement income if you want to maintain your current lifestyle when you retire. But like many rules of thumb, that advice is much too general for most people", says Herbert Poole, Retirement Development Consultant for Richard Galgano Wells Fargo Advisors. To help ensure that you can actually live as comfortably in retirement as you do now, Poole says you need to identify what your desired lifestyle costs. Next, you’ll need a saving and investing strategy that matches your income needs. Here are the key questions for you and your financial advisor to consider: What’s my ideal retirement age? This is both a financial and
a quality-of-life question, says Poole. Financially speaking, you need to determine when you’ll have amassed enough savings and investments to stop working. You want to be able to comfortably live on withdrawals from your accounts — without running out of money. On the nonfinancial front, think about what you really want to do during retirement (Travel? Start an encore business?). “Ask yourself: ‘At what age could I retire and still be healthy enough to do these things?" Poole suggests. As you get closer to your actual retirement age, you can home in on when you can afford to leave work. “Depending on your situation, working just a year or two more than you planned could make a big difference in how much money you have available to live on later,” notes Poole. What are my retirement income sources? You may have a tax-deferred retirement plan through your job,
personal and/or Roth IRAs, rental property income, and more. Once you identify all your potential income streams, you can make some smart decisions that could help boost your income when you retire. For example, your financial advisor can help you determine whether it would be wise to add more income-producing options, such as annuities or real estate, or to consider more tax-advantaged investments. How much money do I need to support my current standard of living? This is perhaps the most important question to explore. “However, you’d be surprised by how many people answer this question by saying to their financial advisors: "I have no idea. Just tell me what kind of lifestyle I can afford", says Poole. "You’re much better off estimating your target retirement budget early, so you can help ensure you’re saving and investing enough", says Poole. Your financial advisor
can offer help estimating costs for items like health and longterm care for different parts of the country. "During this process", Poole says "it’s also a good idea to separate your necessary costs (mortgage/rent, utilities, food, transportation, etc.) from your discretionary expenses (fine dining, vacations, and more). That way, you know where you can cut costs if your estimated retirement income ends up being different than you planned." How can I plan for the unexpected? To avoid a financial snag that significantly affects your retirement income, Poole suggests having both contingency funds and contingency plans. For contingency funds, you could earmark money for your grandkids but hang on to the funds in case of an emergency. This could be as simple as leaving money to your grandchildren in your estate plan, rather than putting the money in trust in their names. Contingency
plans might include paying for expensive home repairs like a roof replacement before retirement. You might also prioritize which assets you would sell in a financial emergency. Am I regularly monitoring my progress toward retirement? Maybe you have 20 years left before retirement, or perhaps you’re already in the middle of retirement and planning to live to age 100. Wherever you are in the process, it makes sense to talk with your financial planner at least once a year — or whenever you face a significant life change. After all, the financial markets and your investments are constantly changing. You change over time, too. You may decide to retire to a state with a different cost of living or change your mind about how much risk you want to take with your investments. All of those factors could affect your retirement lifestyle and how much income you need to live well in retirement.

These youth may range from ages 10-18. The program maintains GPS tracking ankle monitors for the County at any given time. Some of the objectives to the Electronic Monitoring (EM) are as follows: • Provide intensive supervision 24/7 utilizing GPS services as well as face to face interactions, • Conduct Electronic Monitoring Evaluations that will provide a holistic view of youth (and the youth’s family’s) support systems, community engagement and potential for success on the EM bracelet when ordered by the courts. • Provide stabilization services for court mandated juveniles and their families • Assist family in obtaining Title 5A (application for representation by a public defender) • Create case management and goal plan with youth and family • Provide staff representation and ensure juvenile’s appearance in court, providing transportation if needed • Work cooperatively with all members of the family court and juvenile justice system as well as community partners such as probation, CMO, DCP&P, MDT, etc.
• Implement a continuum of detention alternative program with options for increasing and decreasing levels of supervision based on compliance and achievements How Nancy found hope at Harbor House Nancy was 16 when she first came to Ocean’s Harbor House. Her parents became addicts stemming from the Opioid crisis. She “couch-surfed” for several months at friends and families homes. She began to develop a very low opinion of herself and she too began to experiment with drugs. Her selfesteem was so low that she began to engage in activities that were harmful to her, but she did so knowingly because she thought this is what she deserved. Eventually, Nancy came to Ocean’s Harbor House. First through our Shelter program, before becoming a resident at our Transitional Living Program. Nancy made a commitment to get clean and with the help of the staff at Harbor House, began the process of rebuilding her life, and addressing her issues of self-worth and self-esteem. In the structured program at the Transitional Living Program she thrived and after nearly 2 years decided she wanted to join the Navy. As she said, “I know who I am now, and I need the discipline in my life.” After completing the Recruit Training Program in Great Lakes, Illinois she was assigned to a Navy base on the West Coast. Another 2 years later, and she is thriving in her career, in her relationships, and in her personal growth. This was a 100% transformation from the young, insecure 16 year old who showed up at our door just over 4 years ago with her eyes focused on the floor. She has self-worth, a purpose, and hope! Nancy was such an inspiration to all the other youth in the program, that another young resident – Megan, who had similar challenges, followed Nancy into the Navy just 14 months later. Ocean’s Harbor House provides housing for homeless youth. In 2018, we housed 128 youth. The average age of our residents was just under 16 years of age. Our program is highly structured and we are focused on outcomes. Nancy is a reminder to all of us of the potential that resides within each youth that steps through our doors every day. None of this would have been possible without the support of our professional staff, our community partners, and every single person who supports the youth in our communities through donations.

Ford sharpens focus on customer experience
Expanded investment programs save time and money, reward loyalty
DEARBORN, Mich — From simplifying the vehicle leasing process to saving customers time on maintenance to rewarding their loyalty, Ford Motor Company is aiming to make each part of its ownership experience easier and worry-free, building customer ranks and revenues over time.
“The customer experience is the most important area we can invest in to become the world’s most trusted company,” said Elena Ford, the company’s chief customer experience officer. “The real measure of our success as a company is keeping customers’ loyalty over time.” This year, Ford already has doubled its investment in customer experiences, aiming to increase loyalty to Ford by further improving customer advocacy through programs that show appreciation to its long-term customer base. This follows benchmarking and learning from the world’s top travel, technology and hospitality companies.
Ford Mobile Service Pilot
New Call Center Model Ford is opening a new nationwide contact center in Houston that specializes in a new customer-centered approach. The center opens Monday, bringing more than 500 jobs to the community. Located in the heart of the world’s largest truck market, the center has a group of specialized agents solely dedicated to serving truck owners – Ford’s largest, most loyal and demanding customer groups – across the United States.
“If we truly want to be serious about customer experience, we have to resource it like we do F-150,” Elena Ford said. “It’s time we do.”
FordPass Rewards FordPass, which already elevated the Ford customer experience by creating a single mobile platform where owners can monitor their vehicles, find parking spaces or make service appointments, is expanding with a new customer loyalty program called FordPass Rewards.
Ford is also expanding a new U.S.-based mobile service pilot, which brings vehicle maintenance and light service to customers at home, at work or just about anywhere a customer wants. Ford research shows customers like the idea of vehicle service coming to them. It also appeals to competitive brand owners who would consider Ford solely based on mobile service. Others said they would be interested in using mobile service for their current non-Ford vehicle. The pilot currently runs in California and will expand in May to dealers in Texas, Illinois, New Jersey and Florida. Based on results, Ford will decide later whether to expand it.
This contact center, which will be the prototype for all Ford call centers globally, works on an “own the call” model. Ford has 70 Ford Signature stores around the world. It will expand to 300 globally by year’s end, with thousands slated for completion in coming years. In addition to the growth of Ford Signature dealerships, Ford is working with dealers to test new global retail formats based on the changing ways people are shopping today – from urban markets to rural to dedicated commercial point-of-sale stores. One of the new global retail formats is Ford Smart Labs, the first of which is opening in Brussels, Belgium. Ford Smart Labs are small retail point in a hightraffic area surrounded by shops, food and entertainment, where customers can experience Ford products in an engaging and no-pressure environment. IT’S NOT JUST AVOCADO TOAST: AMERICAN MILLENNIALS LOVE SEDANS
New study shows that 8 in 10 younger American car buyers putting sedans high on their consideration list NASHVILLE, TN – Recent research reveals that the youngest generations of car buyers – millennials and Generation Z – may have their sights set on sedans. According to a survey of American car owners commissioned by Nissan, desire for sedans remains strong. Among overall respondents who don’t currently own a sedan, 78% would consider buying one, and younger respondents reported an even higher affinity for the body style. Nissan recently unveiled its latest sedan, the allnew Versa, which features an energetic new design inside and out along with technology not generally seen in the subcompact class. Last year, Nissan also introduced the all-new Altima, sporting lower, wider and more athletic proportions than its predecessor. The sixth generation Altima is the first sedan to offer Nissan’s ProPILOT Assist driver assistance technology. Nissan also recently unveiled the refreshed Maxima, adding safety and convenience features along with updated styling.
A look at sedan drivers today
“We see great opportunity in the sedan segment, which is why we’re continuing to launch all-new and refreshed products,” said Rob Warren, director and chief marketing manager at Nissan North America. “Sedans are still extremely popular with our customers, so as our competitors exit the category, they’re creating even more prospects for Nissan.”
• Nissan surveyed car owners and non-owners in the U.S. between the ages of 18 and 65 and found: • A top choice: 78% of American drivers who don’t own a sedan would consider buying one now or in the future. • Choice of younger generations: 86% of those 18-34 years old (Generation Z and younger millennials) who don’t own a sedan would consider buying one now or in the future. The same is true for 81% of older millennials and Generation X’ers (age 35-50). • Satisfied owners: U.S. sedan owners are just as satisfied with their cars (89%) as non-sedan owners (88%). • Function with four doors: SUVs and trucks don’t have a monopoly on being seen as functional. 95% of sedan owners listed functionality as the No. 1 thing they love about their car, versus 94% for non-sedan owners. “What we’re hearing from younger buyers is that they appreciate the features, versatility, fuel economy and value in our sedans,” said Warren. “Sedan design has also come a long way, as these traditional four-door cars shed their generic look, add more technology and take on a more aggressive, stylish profile. As sedans become more exciting to look at and to drive, younger buyers are putting sedans at the top of their consideration list.”

50TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION!
50TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION!
Causeway Ford continues to raise funds with Drive 4UR School
Simply Hair
It’s rare these days when a company will do something for the betterment of a community. Here at Causeway, our founder and president Dave Wintrode has always given back to the community that has supported him. One of these ways Causeway can give back, is a program started by the Ford Motor Company called Drive 4UR School. Our dealership will host an event on behalf of Ford and anyone can come out and test drive a car. For each test drive completed, Ford will donate $20 with a maximum of 300 test drives.
DONNA STROFFOLINO
For the past 8 years I have been organizing and running these events, and have grown lots of lasting relationships. One such relationship is Southern Regional High School since 2011. The superintendent Craig Henry and his staff are amazing to work with and everyone has such a good time. Over the years, our events raising money for the Southern Regional Education Foundation put them in a place to better support all the students in the district. The SREF was able to

*NEW CUSTOMERS ONLY.
We recently held a drive for Southern Regional on June 11th and it couldn’t have gone any better! We started around 9:30 in the morning and went until 2pm in the afternoon, all without slowing
down! We had such a great turnout between staff members, parents, and others in the community, we ended up with 367 overall drives (with only 300 counting)! We would like to thank the following Sales Consultants that attended the event as well: Chad Scanlon, Kevin Meade, Skip Martin, Sam Morrison, Antonio Brito, Charlie Coopey, Mike Cioffi, and Joe Hughes. Without your help we couldn’t have gotten close to our final number and goal.

ACCORD
The 2019 Odyssey won for Best Family Minivan, with Edmunds. com editors citing Odyssey’s Magic Slide™ seats, Cabin Watch™ and Honda VAC® among its many family-friendly features. The 2019 Accord won as Best Family Sedan thanks in part to its roomy interior and trunk, and standard Honda Sensing® suite of active safety and driver assist systems. The 2019 CRV’s class-leading cargo space, Honda Sensing® availability, excellent fuel efficiency, and available hands-free rear liftgate helped it win the Best Small Family SUV category. Edmunds.com editors select the winners of Best Family Car after an extensive, engineer-led vehicle testing and rating process that used more than 30 criteria in the five main areas of driving performance, comfort, interior, utility and technology. THE 2019 HYUNDAI VELOSTER RECEIVES A TOP SAFETY PICK AWARD FROM THE IIHS HYUNDAI HAS EARNED A TOTAL OF 11 TOP SAFETY PICK OR TOP SAFETY PICK+ AWARDS, THE MOST IN THE INDUSTRY
FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., May 31, 2019 – In one of the industry’s most demanding vehicle crash tests, the redesigned 2019 Hyundai Veloster received a TOP SAFETY PICK award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The 2019 TOP SAFETY PICK award applies to Velosters equipped with premium LED headlights built after August 2018. With all 11 vehicles, Hyundai leads the industry with the most number of TOP SAFETY PICK or TOP SAFETY PICK+ Awards. The other 2019 Hyundai models which have achieved these honors from the IIHS are: Accent, Elantra, Elantra GT, Ioniq Hybrid, Ioniq Plug-In Hybrid, Kona, Santa Fe, Santa Fe XL, Sonata and Tucson. The Veloster earned high ratings for both its standard and optional front crash prevention systems, both of which avoided collisions in IIHS track tests at 12 mph and 25 mph. According to IIHS, models that earn TOP SAFETY PICK honors are the best vehicle choices for safety within their size categories. This award presented to the 2019 Veloster totals 11 Hyundai models that are rated TOP SAFETY PICK+ or TOP SAFETY PICK, the highest in the industry. To qualify as a 2019 TOP SAFETY PICK, the vehicle must have good ratings in the driver-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint tests. An acceptable or good rating in the passenger-side small overlap front test, an advanced or superior rating for front crash prevention and an acceptable or good headlight rating are

SUMMER 2019

TEAM CAUSEWAY TAKES CARE OF YOUR VEHICLE How to get your vehicle ready for summer Summer is just around the corner, and now is the perfect time to get your car back into shape after months of driving around in snow, slush, and ice. Check these to-dos off your list to get your car ready for smooth sailing all summer:
1.
Switch from snow tires to all-season or summer tires. Winter tires are made of a softer rubber so they can stay flexible in cooler temperatures, but when the weather starts warming up, they tend to wear more quickly. Once the temperature steadily hovers above 70°, it’s time to go back to your all-season or summer tires.
2.
Change your wiper blades. Much like winter tires, winter wiper blades are made from a different rubber than their summer counterparts, so they should be changed when the weather starts to warm up. Even if your wiper blades aren’t specifically for winter, you should inspect them and replace them if they’re no longer getting the job done.
3.
Test your AC. Not only is driving around in a car without air conditioning on a hot day uncomfortable, but it can also be dangerous. Test out your AC and make sure it’s working properly before the weather gets too warm. If you hear strange sounds or suspect the air coming out of your vents is warmer than it should be, have the system inspected by a professional.
4.
Check your brakes. Brakes can see a good deal of wear over the winter months, when traffic is much more stopand-go than it is in the summer. Consider having your brakes inspected when you’re removing your winter tires.
5.
Keep your coolant cool. Check your coolant level and make sure the mixture of chemicals is correct. You can either do this yourself with a coolant tester from your local auto parts store or have it checked by a professional.
6.
Get an oil change. If you’re due for an oil change, consider getting it done when you have your snow tires removed to save yourself a trip later.
7.
Top up your windshield washer fluid with a summer formula. Next time your windshield washer fluid needs to be filled up, consider using a streak-free formula that targets bugs, tar, and other grime.
8.
Go for a pre-summer tune-up. Think this sounds like a lot of things to check off your list before summer rolls around?

Give it a good wash. Salt and grime can build up on almost every part of your vehicle over the winter, from the undercarriage to the interior mats. Once the roads are clear, give your car a thorough spring cleaning. Don’t forget the undercarriage, the wheel wells, the windows, and the interior mats.
