of Dealerships Food Drive Founded by pro skateboarder Rob Dyrdek in 2010, Street League Skateboarding (SLS) was created to foster growth, popularity, and acceptance of street skateboarding worldwide. Since then, SLS has evolved to become a platform that serves to excite the skateboarding community, educate both the avid and casual fans, and empower communities through its very own SLS Foundation. In support of SLS’ mission, Nike SB joined forces with SLS in 2013 to create SLS Nike SB World Tour. In 2014, SLS began a new multi-year television partnership with FOX Sports 1 that includes live broadcasts on FS1 and global distribution through the FOX family of networks. New in 2015, SLS announced a long-term partnership with Skatepark of Tampa (SPoT) to create a premium global qualification system that spans from amateur events to the SLS Nike SB Super Crown World Championship. We will be collecting items throughout the last week in
July and plan to do another week in August. Items can be
brought to the Ford/ Lincoln Showroom on Route 72 East and dropped in our donations bin. Some of the food bank’s most With summer 2016 in full swing, the food bank is in the highest demand for food donations. Many students rely on a meal being provided at school but these few months they have to live without it. Children who do not get the important nutrients they need can become sick more often and recover much slower. To help our neighbors in need, Causeway Family of Dealerships will be hosting our very own Food Drive in which all items will be donated directly to the Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean County. New Jersey’s very high cost of living makes it difficult for low-income families to make ends meet. Poverty levels have increased dramatically, along with the gap between the rich and poor. It is up to our communities to come together to realize this is a growing issue and that we can lend a helping hand. Here are some facts about the current hunger situation across our counties: • Over 36,000 children in Monmouth and Ocean Counties struggle with hunger. • Over 130,000 residents in these counties were served by the food bank in 2014. That’s 1 in 10 residents! • Almost 80% of households report that they buy unhealthy foods because of the inexpensive prices.
needed items are listed below: •
Canned tuna, chicken, salmon (in water)
•
Canned fruits and vegetables
•

All-New Lincoln MKX Tops All Competitors, Says Consumer Reports
The Lincoln MKX “outguns all other luxury midsized S U V s , including the popular Lexus RX350 and BMW X5,” according to Consumer Reports. In the vehicle review, which appears in the May 2016, issue of the magazine – on news stands and online now – Consumer Reports describes the MKX as “ready for prime time – with a regal street presence, superior handling and braking, effortless acceleration, a plush interior, and a suite of advanced technology.” That’s music to the ears of Scott Tobin, director, Lincoln Product Development. “I’m really proud of how the entire cross-functional team came together to deliver such an outstanding vehicle and such an outstanding result,” he said. “The Consumer Reports review compliments nearly every aspect of the MKX, so it really is a testament to a collaborative team with great leadership coming together to get all the pieces to work in unison and deliver that experiential element for our customers.” Consumer Reports gave the Lincoln MKX an overall road test score of 87, outranking both the Lexus RX350h and the Land Rover Range Rover by 10 points. “Lincoln is on a journey, but what you want to have on your journey is some proof points like this that say we’re heading in the right direction,” said Tobin. Tobin says the success of

the MKX comes from listening to customers and delivering what the Lincoln brand stands for. “Our brand is not about aggressive ride, handling and design. It’s much more about quiet luxury and elegance,” he said. “So when I see comments from Consumer Reports saying, ‘bumps and ruts are nicely muted and the cabin stays quiet and tranquil,’ that is the combination we’re looking for. “We want a composed yet engaging ride and to have features like our 22-way seats with independent thigh support to get customers perfectly comfortable. These types of features coupled with an intuitive HMI (human machine interface) make Lincoln,” he continued. “We want to deliver what customers want in the Lincoln way – not in an aggressive pretentious way – that people will find inviting.” Tobin emphasized the fact that it takes a very broad team of experts to make any vehicle program a success. “No individual can do it alone. It takes teams of people,” he said. “I think as we coalesce as a Lincoln team that our results are getting better, and as we understand who we are and where we’re going it builds confidence for us moving forward.” Tobin said the support that Lincoln is receiving from throughout the company is invaluable. “Lincoln is an on endeavor to become a world-class competitor in the luxury space and it will take the entire Ford Motor Company working together to make that happen,” he said. “We at Lincoln appreciate all the support we get across the globe in delivering the most excellent products that the Lincoln Motor Company can deliver.”

2016 Nissan Frontier named
top mid-size truck in J.D. Power 2016 Initial Quality Study (IQS) quality. Additionally, the Nissan brand jumped 10 spots in the study, bringing it to 10th position, sixth among non-premium brands and above the overall industry average. IQS, now in its 30th year, examines problems experienced by vehicle owners during the first 90 days of ownership. Initial quality is determined by the number of problems experienced per 100 vehicles (PP100), with a lower score reflecting higher quality. “Earning the top spot among vehicles in the extremely competitive mid-size truck segment is an immense point of pride for us,” said Dan Mohnke, vice president, Chief Marketing Manager and Marketing Operations, Nissan North America, Inc. “For our brand to jump 10 spots in the industry is an amazing feat. This recognition is a testament to the incredibly skilled men and women at our manufacturing and engineering facilities around the world.” Nissan’s overall brand performance improves by 20 PP100 and 10 spots, to 10th place overall

among 32 brands. This improvement also moves the Nissan brand up five positions to the sixth spot among all non-premium brands. The 2016 results are four PP100 better than the Industry average of 105. This is due in part to an excellent performance from Nissan’s Smyrna Vehicle Assembly Plant, which also scored above average in the Americas assembly line rankings. Two additional Nissan models join the Frontier in earning high placement within their segments. The 2016 Altima and 2016 Murano ranked among the top three in their respective classes. Altima missed the top spot in the very competitive midsize sedan category by only one point, while the Murano in its second year was only three PP100 out of top spot in mid-size CUV. More than 80,000 purchasers and lessees of new 2016 model-year vehicles were surveyed in this year’s J.D Power IQS. The 233-question study is organized into eight problem categories designed to provide manufacturers with information to facilitate the identification of problems and drive product improvement. The study was fielded from February through May 2016. -www.nissannews.com

The test group in the videos is also one of my favorite parts. Unlike other workout DVD programs that I have tried in the past, these people actually take breaks and look exhausted rather than looking like invincible robots. Of course they are extremely fit, but I enjoy seeing that they are real people too and they get tired. It makes me feel a little bit better when I am trying to catch my breath on the floor and so are they.
Seeing improvements in your performance is what will really motivate you to keep going with it. There is a fit test every two weeks which is a great way to track your progress other than body measurements. Seeing your number of reps increase is such a great feeling and means so much more than just a number on the scale. I would say it takes about 2 full weeks to fully get in to the routine and not dread the workouts. Believe it or not, I look forward to them now. F-150 RAPTOR TERRAIN MODES: WHERE WE’RE GOING, WE DON’T NEED ROADS
The all-new Ford F-150 Raptor features six terrain modes designed to handle the most demanding terrains. From off-road rock crawling and desert running to on-road sport mode, Raptor is ready for any type of driving. Here’s a breakdown of each mode. Normal For everyday on-road driving duties, normal mode is a perfect balance of excitement, comfort and convenience. Sport Mountain passes are no longer just for Mustang, thanks to Raptor sport mode. For spirited on-road driving, sport mode increases throttle response and provides a sportier steering feel – along with quicker shifting. The transmission holds gears longer to keep you in the power band. Weather When road conditions are less than ideal, weather mode inspires confidence without compromising driving pleasure. Snow/wet mode automatically
“Anything Goes” Our favorite non profit local community musical theater group is getting ready for another show. Our Gang players, the longest running theater group in Ocean County is rehearsing for “Anyhing Goes.” The original show was in 1934 and was revived 3 different times after that. The director Jessica Roy has decided to go with the 1962 version. The musical director is Anthony Greco who you might remember from the Music Man where he starred as Professor Harrold Hill in July. The story has been revised to involve similar romantic complications aboard the SS American and feature some major characters. The SS American is traveling to London where are the characters are headed for different reason. Billy Crocker fell in love at first site with Hope Harcourt in a taxi
engages 4 Auto. AdvanceTrac, throttle response and the shift schedule are optimized for greater confidence in slippery conditions. Mud/Sand For tackling trails and other off-road treks, the mud/sand setting is your best friend. 4 High and the electronic locking differential automatically engage for driving over loose or soft ground, and optimized AdvanceTrac settings help Raptor keep its footing. Steering is set to comfort, which makes it easier to navigate along tight trails and over obstacles. Baja Baja mode is where Raptor eclipses the competition. Designed for high-speed desert running, Baja mode places the vehicle in 4 High, AdvanceTrac is programmed to the least intrusive settings, and the throttle map is adjusted for more linear power and improved engine response to give the hardcore offroad driver greater control. The transmission has quicker shifts and holds gears longer – keeping the vehicle in its power band. Rock Crawl This setting is for intense off-road driving and rock climbing at low speeds. Rock crawl prompts the driver to place the vehicle in 4 Low, the electronic locking differential is automatically engaged and AdvanceTrac is set to the least intrusive settings for optimum rock-climbing ability. Throttle modulation and transmission response are optimized for greater

Hope is traveling with her mother and fiancé Lord Evelyn. Meanwhile public enemy number one, Snake Eyes Johnson, is on the boat with second rate gangster “Moonface” Martin and his sidekick Bonnie. They are the comic relief of the show. And to top it off there is a evangelist turned lounge singer Reno Sweeney, with her dancing girls. This show has something for everyone. A romantic love story between Billy and Hope, the dumb criminals, Moonface and Bonnie, and big bring down the house dance numbers by Reno and her girls. the great reputation of the Causeway family of dealers and now I get to be a part of it. Little bit about my professional self, I have been in the automotive profession for over 25 years. I started out in Ocean County Vocational tech school for automotive. My first automotive job was at Sears in the Ocean County Mall as a technician. From there I advance to the sales side of the business learning and growing in the service departments of Sears in the Ocean County Mall, Freehold Mall and Middletown Sears. I left Sears to peruse an opportunity with STS as a store manager, working in many locations all in the Ocean county area, finally running the branch in Point Pleasant. After STS I went on the be a dealership service advisor in Freehold at Freehold Jeep, Hyundai. Only leaving when I was offered an opportunity to run a Toyota dealer in Flemington where I worked for 15 years. Our dealership was the only dealership to be LEEDS (Leaders in Environmental Engineer and Design) certified. I share this because much of what I have learned thought my career will help me to improve and advance the level of service and care taken with our customers here at Causeway Ford. On a personal note I am a father of two wonderful kids, (don’t we all say that) my son is 17 and my daughter is 14. My son is involved in the electrical program at Ocean County Vocational School studying to be an electrician and my daughter will be attending performing Arts Academy in Lakehurst for singing and theater. I grew up in Jackson and moved to Manchester. I hope you will take the time to have a cup of coffee and introduce yourself to me when you are in for service. Although many of my years of experience are with Toyota at the end of the day a customer is a customer. The technicians have to know how to fix the car I am here for you to help and guide along in the service process. We at Causeway Ford have many new ideas that we will be implementing in the near future, all to enhance you service experience. Any of your ideas would be also appreciated just let us hear them. Thank You and I look forward to working with and for you in the future, Christopher Thorn Service Director of Causeway Ford

“style and uniqueness” with uncanny ability. Though he doesn’t get on stage as much as he used to, he has quite the resume in his long life as an entertainer. Lee has played everywhere from Las Vegas to New York and even in Malaysia and Australia. I asked him the obvious, yet hard-hitting questions: favorite song to perform, how often he gets asked to take pictures, and whether he’s grown tired of the frequent attention.

Lee Halpern with Sales Representative Gregg Meoni
When Lee Halpern walked into the showroom, clad in a bright, Hawaiian shirt, a belt buckle the size of a softball, and sporting mutton-chop sideburns that would make Jason Priestly jealous, I’ll admit- I wasn’t sure what to expect. Lee is more than an Elvis impersonator. He’s an “Emulator.” A fan of Elvis Presley since he was a child, Lee has been singing and appearing as The King for more than 40 years. As his website states, he “lives and breathes Elvis.” Having met him on 3 different occasions, Lee has been able to channel his
Being as big as fan as he is, choosing one favorite song was a challenge. After considerable deliberation, he decided on “Wonder of You,” for the very endearing reason that it reminds him of his mother. As for how often he gets asked for pictures, his wife, Janet, chuckled and said they could’ve paid for every vacation they’ve ever taken if Lee charged $5 per picture. I started to feel bad for adding to the number of people who requested pictures and asked silly questions like what his favorite Elvis song was. But handled it with all the grace and aplomb of a veteran performer. He said with a warm smile, “I’m just happy to keep the spirit of Elvis going.” Lee is originally from Brooklyn, and currently resides in Ocean County. Team Causeway Runs the Harbor Hustle On Sunday, July 3rd, on a cloudy morning in Stone Harbor, three Causeway runners took on the 47th annual Harbor Hustle 5k. This event benefitted Alex’s Lemonade Stand. Over 700 participants ran this year’s Harbor Hustle which is almost double the amount that ran in 2015. The drizzle of rain throughout the race kept the runners fairly cool while they ran the flat course, right along the beaches of Stone Harbor. ABOUT STREET LEAGUE SKATEBOARDING
Founded by pro skateboarder Rob Dyrdek in 2010, Street League Skateboarding (SLS) was created to foster growth, popularity, and acceptance of street skateboarding worldwide. New in 2015, SLS announced a longterm partnership with Skatepark of Tampa (SPoT) to create a premium global qualification system that spans from amateur events to the SLS Nike SB Super Crown World Championship. The SPoT partnership officially transitions Tampa Pro into becoming the 2015 SLS North American Qualifier that gives two nonSLS Pros the opportunity to become part of the current SLS roster and compete in the World Tour. Tampa Pro will also serve as a way for current SLS Pros to gain extra championship qualification points to qualify to the Super Crown. SLS is now also the exclusive channel for live streaming of Tampa Pro and Tampa Am.

The SLS Nike SB Pro Open in Barcelona, Spain will debut as the first-ever global, independent program on the SLS calendar. 2015 highlights the second year of the SLS Pro Open and marks as the second entry event that introduces two new non-SLS Pros to compete their way into the league. Like Tampa Pro, current SLS Pros gain extra championship qualification points to qualify to the Super Crown. As the premier competitive series in skateboarding, the SLS Nike SB World Tour elevates street skateboarding and showcases an international roster of skating’s elite pros as they compete in an easy-to-follow, instant scoring format. At each stop of the Tour, world-famous arenas are transformed into custom concrete skate plazas, challenging the pros to be innovative and take skateboarding to new highs as they compete for the largest purse in skate history – more than $1 million dollars. The winner of each stop of the Tour, including Tampa Pro, receives a “Golden Ticket” guaranteeing them a spot in the Super Crown World Championship at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago, Illinois. Only the most elite eight pros qualify for the final event of the 2015 SLS Nike SB World Tour and only one gets the opportunity to claim the title ‘Street League Skateboarding Nike SB Super Crown World Champion’. SLS offers options for fans across the world to tune in and watch skateboarding’s most prestigious competition series. Fans in the United States can watch on FS1 and customers of participating cable and satellite TV providers may access the live stream of the Tour stops through the FOX Sports GO app for iOS, Android, Windows and Kindle devices, as well as on desktops through FOXSportsGO.com. International fans can watch the live webcast exclusively on Streetleague.com In the spirit of giving back, the Street League Skateboarding Foundation was established with the goal of increasing global participation in skateboarding and to create healthy, sustainable communities by promoting the inherent benefits of skateboarding throughout the world. Throughout the year, the SLS Foundation aims to empower communities with the mission of helping to build free, public skate spots, as well as create new SLS Certified Skate Plazas capable of hosting future events and additional league programs.

The 2017 Accord Sedan and Coupe hit showrooms this Monday with a new Sport Special Edition, ready to continue Accord’s three-year streak as the most popular car in America with individual retail car buyers. Retaining many of the popular enhancements introduced last year, the 2017 Accord will be available starting June 27 at Honda dealerships nationwide with a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) starting at $22,3551.

The significantly refreshed 2017 Accord Hybrid, featuring a new version of Honda’s twomotor hybrid powertrain technology with both class-leading power and fuel economy ratings, rounds out the 2017 Accord lineup as it launched earlier this month.

When you think “premium” audio you commonly don’t think Lincoln, but in this case you would be wrong! The Lincoln Motor Company has teamed up with Revel by Harmon to bring you the best sounding sound system in any vehicle… period! Revel actually went to Lincoln and made (yes made) them design parts of the interior to make the audio sound better. If you are one of those people that only listen to talk radio then this probably isn’t the best option for you, but if you are like me, than this system is going to change the way you listen to music in the car! There are two different versions the normal Revel Audio and the Revel Ultima. The normal revel isn’t exactly a transistor radio and comes with all of the normal settings and 13 speakers to make whatever you are listening to a lot nicer. The star of the show being the “Ultima” comes with 19 speakers and a “Quantum Logic Surround” sound system that has two separate presets: On Stage and Audience. When you select the On Stage setting it changes the music to make it sound like you are on stage playing with the band, this is perfect for those people that drive down the road singing along… you know who you are! There is also the audience setting that will plop you right in front
of the stage, when I was taking pictures for this article Peter Frampton came on and it literally sounded like I was at the Comes Alive concert. The Ultima system also has Revel’s “ClariFi” which works in real time to rebuild audio tracks and make anything sound just that much better. When it comes to what you listen to, it really does matter. According to revel, this system sounds best when used with your iPod and high bit rate MP3’s. They don’t recommend dealers showcase the system with Sirius due to the low sound quality. I laughed when
I first heard them say this, but it is true! When I got into the MKX and its super high end sound system you can tell some of the imperfections due to atmospheric conditions and the satellite. Granted it still sounded better than the Sirius in my car. You also get Lincoln’s awesome “Active Noise Cancellation” that reduces any unpleasant noise by playing the opposite frequency and cancelling it out. This system comes at different prices and styles, for most people the normal base radio will be fine; however, if you need to have quality audio look no further then the family of Revel Systems only available to Lincoln!
Congratulations

Radiation therapy is an effective treatment option for many types of cancer. For some patients, a side effect is that a wound may develop over time because the radiation treatment can decrease the amount of blood vessels in the body, thus leading to breakdown of tissues. For patients experiencing such a wound, there is an effective treatment option available at Southern Ocean Medical Center. The Center for Wound Healing provides an outpatient wound healing and management program that aims to improve the lives of those who suffer from chronic, non-healing wounds. One of the specialty treatments available at the center is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBO), which can be effective in treating the long-term effects of radiation therapy. HBO is a treatment in which the patient enters a comfortable chamber pressurized with oxygen. The pressure of the chamber is designed to increase the amount of oxygen in the blood stream. The increase in oxygen helps to fight infection and heal difficult wounds.
Patients eligible for HBO receive therapy frequently. The treatment usually takes about two hours and takes place every day, Monday through Friday, for four to six weeks. It is common for significant results to be seen midway through the treatment process. An informational video featuring the medical director of the Center for Wound Healing at Southern Ocean, Jeffrey C. Hager, D.O., can also be found on the web site, along with several other wound care topics.
