My Experiences with the Early-morning and Late-afternoon Sun

As sun glare mostly occurs in the early morning or late-afternoon due to the low sun angles, it seems that the beauty of sunrise and sunset is overlooked. For me, they are meaningful and special moments that mark the start and end of my day. They decorate my room, every day, so that my room is truly livable, not only in climatic aspects, but also in a psychological way.

Xuanqi's Room at Jurong East HDB

Block 216 Jurong East is an HDB apartment located along the green line MRT.

It is not far from the Chinese Garden and Jurong East commercial area where all the shopping malls interconnect. My room is facing north toward the community hence little noise from the traffic can penetrate through.

The HDB apartment I rented has two stories and the room I lived in is on the second floor of this apartment which is 7 floors above the ground level. The room is facing the north-east direction with an angle of 37 degrees away from the north. Because this apartment is at the end of our corridor, there is a special structure that blocks most of the sunlight from shining into my room.

The room is very crowded and has been arranged into this sort of layout. In consideration of AC airflow, the massive storage shelf, and noise, the lifted bed is placed close to the window. Hence, the bed blocks most of the window area, and the curtain is hard to pull due to the small space. Since my monitor faces the window, half of the curtain is always closed to prevent glare. As a whole, my room is very dim for various reasons that I'm not happy with. Because the living room's, bathroom's, kitchen's, and the entrance's doors are always open, there is a strong windflow, but most of the time it is very humid.

Note: curtain half open, window open, door open, nearly no wind flow, a bit of humid and overall cool

Note: curtain half open, window open, door open, small wind flow that brings down the humidity
