Dear WelcomeFriends,tothe Center Celebration
2022, the premier annual fundraising event for the arts and educational programming of the Center for the Performing Arts. We are so pleased to gather together this year at the Palladium after two seasons in the virtual world.
Some of you, however, may be less familiar with the rich menu of educational and experiential opportunities offered through the Center for people of all ages. You will learn more about those programs this evening.
Gala Committee: David and Faye Adams, Brian and Bethany Burdick, Howard Eigen, Caroline and Michael Garvey, Nadine Givens, David Greene, Steve and Sandy Hageman, Amy Heath, Mike and Karen Heaton, Zak Khan, Steve and Kathy Krusie, Allie Missler, Abbey Mooney, Anna Nystrom, Eric and Leah Payne, Tom and Karen Poyser, Kara Seward, David and Micki Stirsman, Will and Yasmin Stump, David and Victoria Temple, Brian and Carol Urbanski.
As you know, we have a fun and exciting program planned, including a headline performance by the acclaimed vocal ensemble Straight No Chaser, now celebrating the 25th anniversary of its founding at Indiana University, as well as appearances by Michael Feinstein and Gregory Hancock Dance Theatre and Edin Kebede, not to mention three after-parties featuring top local musicians. This is the level of entertainment you’ve come to expect from the Center.
None of this work is possible without generous patrons, donors and sponsors like you. Your very presence here – as well as your donations and participation in the afterdinner auction – directly support the Center’s mission: to engage and inspire the Indiana community through enriching arts experiences. We offer special thanks to our presenting partner, Krieg DeVault, as well as First Merchants Bank, Zotec Partners and our other partners for the evening. Thank you for joining us!
Sincerely, Liz and Michael Messaglia Jeff and Shari Worrell Gala Committee Co-Chairs

The mission of the Center for the Performing Arts is to engage and inspire the Indiana community through enriching arts experiences. The Center for the Performing Arts is a nonprofit arts and education organization responsible for the operation and programming of a three-venue campus at Carmel’s City Center. Together, the 1,500seat Palladium, the 500-seat Tarkington and the black box Studio Theater create a welcoming environment for the regional community to experience and participate in all forms of the performing arts. Each year, the Center Presents performance season offers more than 50 concerts and other events in the fields of pop, rock, jazz, classical, country, comedy, family programming and more. The Center also provides space, ticketing and support services for six Resident Companies: Actors Theatre of Indiana, Carmel Symphony Orchestra, Central Indiana Dance Ensemble, Civic Theatre, Gregory Hancock Dance Theatre and Indiana Wind Symphony. Campus facilities are available for rental events, including performances, corporate meetings, weddings and other social occasions.
The Center’s sister organization, the Great American Songbook Foundation, is based at the Palladium with a mission to inspire and educate by celebrating America’s timeless popular music. A Cultural Affiliate of the Los Angelesbased Grammy Museum®, the Foundation advances this rich musical legacy by curating physical artifacts of its creators, performers and publishers in the Songbook Library & Archives; operating a multimedia Exhibit Gallery; overseeing the Songbook Hall of Fame; offering programs for the public and research opportunities for scholars and artists; and providing educational opportunities for student musicians, including the annual Songbook Academy® summer intensive.
The Center’s education and outreach initiatives include programs for children and families, such as the interactive Peanut Butter & Jam concert series for preschoolers, the Palladium PALS reading club, educational videoconferences for students around the state, and our Student Discount Ticket program, through which students can attend performances for just $15. Programs for adults include military discounts, the Palladium Bookies reading club, the Luminaries daytime speaker series, and classes in vocal performance, dance, stand-up comedy and ukulele. With your support, we can continue and expand our arts and educational programming, both on and off campus. Learn more at TheCenterPresents.org/ Support.
Since opening in 2011, the Center has hosted over 2,900 performances for 1.2 million patrons representing all 92 counties in Indiana, all 50 states and 30-plus nations. The campus also welcomes hundreds of thousands of visitors each year for public events such as the Carmel Farmers Market and the holiday Christkindlmarkt. The Center is a key component of Carmel’s arts-based economic development strategy.
