AECES Outshines the Rest Joshua Abud
Another victorious edition of “Quest for the Best” for the Association of Electronics Engineering Students or AECES! AECES brought home the Director’s Cup for two consecutive years. The organization was also pronounced as Best in Arts and Best in Academics at the end of Q4B 2014 held at PUPT last September. AECES Arts team won four golds, and one silver and one bronze. They also won backto-back competitions in modern dance competition of the event. On the other hand, their team has been consistently ranking first in academic events of the competition such as debate. It is no surprise that AECES landed gold in 7 out of 10 different academic disciplines of the competition. “Overwhelming kasi since graduating kami, may maiiwan kaming legacy.
Marvin Rangel, Vice-President of Sports and one of AECES’ modern dance participants. The organization’s modern dance troupe is a back-toback winner of the said category. Meanwhile, Ilona Tataro who won First Place in Essay-English category emphasized the power of collective effort behind the reason why they won. “Kahit na taken for granted ang ibang competitions, ‘pag pinagsama-sama naman, ‘yan ang dahilan ng pagkapanalo ng organisasyon,” she added. AECES President Mr. Kim Kenth Villacorta said he is very overwhelmed and gives the gratitude to God. “Thank you Lord! Para sa Kanya ang pagkapanalo na ‘to,” Mr. Villacorta said. When asked to reveal the secret of their winning strike, “wala naman po!... basta just keep the organization whole and bonds like a family. Walang lower

Mr. Villacorta thanked the AECES alumni, Sir Reginald Raquiza and Sir Julius for sponsoring their victory party. After this victorious year for the organzation, Mr. Villacorta is looking forward that next year would be another successful year for AECES. “sana manatili pa ring isang pamilya ang AECES. To God be the glory! 1, 2, 3 ECE LABAN!” he exclaimed. The whole AECES community is now getting to their nerves as they perceive next year’s Quest for the Best as tough one. Discussing the latest issues and future developments in tertiary education driven the student leaders of PUP-Taguig to host the Metro Manila Assembly of the Rise for Education (R4E) Alliance, held last July 11 at the PUPT Alumni Hall. Officers from different student organizations, class officers and our campus journalists attended the event. Among the student leaders who spoke at the said event were Teddy James Angeles, Metro Manila Convenor of R4E and Sarah Jane Elago, National Convenor of the alliance and at present, National President of the National Union of Students of the Philippines (NUSP). Both speakers discussed the present problems in the educational system faced by the Filipino college students, such as the continuing increase of tuition and miscellaneous fees, lack of government subsidy on state universities and colleges (SUCs), among others. The discussions were made lively as the participants
shared their opinions on different education issues, such as the removal of Filipino subjects from the college curriculum (according to CHED Order No. 20), and the recent plan to raise the tuition fee of locally-funded PUP campuses from P12 per unit to P100 per unit. Rise for Education is an alliance of different organizations and publications from various colleges and universities throughout the country. Its primary goal is to fight for quality and low-cost education for every Filipino citizen. According to R4E Secretariat for PUP-Taguig Ella Valdehueza, the assembly’s primary aim is to “educate the students na hindi sagot ang tuition fee increase sa kakulangan ng paaralan”. PUPT Central Student Council (CSC) members headed by CSC Pres. Eugene Solero attended the formation.

Impeachment vs. PNoy Declared ‘Insufficient in Substance’
In the spirit of CEGP’s 83rd Anniversary,
Lawmakers, mostly from Liberal Party whom President Aquino III is a member, dismissed three impeachment motions against the President. First two impeachments were in connection to DAP, which was first ruled by SC as unconstitutional. The third is in regards to EDCA, A US-Phil military agreement. Though all three complaints were voted separately, members of the committee still saw it as ‘not a priority’. The House Committee of Justice declared the complaints “insufficient in substance” in a vote of 54-4. The committee immediately dismissed the three motions only after two hearings. Majority of the committee members present debated that a president who was voted by 15 million people last 2008 election can only be impeached if he did any acts in “‘gravest violation’ of the Constitution”. However, the Makabayan bloc insisted that the complaints are complete and the president did violate the Constitution. There was even a heated argument between Rep. Colmenares of Bayan Muna and Rep. Evardone of Eastern Samar. Rep. Evardone accused Rep. Colmenares that he also benefited in DAP projects. Rep. Colmenares rebutted saying, “And nu’ng lumipat ka mula kay [former President Gloria] Arroyo papunta kay Aquino, did we say na balimbing ka?” Rep. Tupas of Iloilo order the conversation be out of record. The President’s deputy spokesperson described the process in the House Justice panel as transparent and fair, allowing all concerned to state their case. According to Rep. Colmenares in an interview by Pinoy Weekly, this is a clear intervention by Malacañang. Complainants and supporters were dismayed and accused the member of the committee as though they didn’t even read the complaints. Complainants promised the fight will not end there.

Law which mandated the operation of Philippine National Railways Corpoation (PNR) was due to expire on June 20, 2014. RA 4156, which was created in 1946, will end PNR’s 50-year franchise duration. Cynthia Villar, chairperson of the Senate Government Corporations and Public Enterprises committee, sponsored the bill to extend the life of the cheapest railway transport in the country. According to Sen. Villar, “PNR trains will play a key role in decongesting the traffic in Metro Manila and in other areas.” Sen.
Villar emphasized the urgency to lengthen the train’s service in her sponsorship speech of the Senate Bill 1831 last May 6. All 22 senators agreed and approved the proposed bill. The bill will extend PNR’s life for another 50 years. Pres. Aquino III immediately signed the bill that became Republic Act No. 10638. It will expire in 2064. The law also expects PNR to upgrade its services such as automated ticketing service, northward extension of the line and revival of “Bicol Express” trains or

In celebration of Campus Press Freedom Week, CEGP-Metro Manila held a national situation forum at the Conference Room last July 21. Campus Press Freedom Week or CPF Week is an annual celebration of College Editors Guild of the Philippines prior to their anniversay date. Dubbed as, “State of the Media: Meet the Press 2014”, several students of PUPT undergone series of lectures in this forum. Speakers included Christopher Pasion of Pinoy Media Center, Lloyd Magsoy of Anakbayan-NCR, and Charina Claustro of CEGP-Metro Manila. Mr. Pasion told the audience that the freedom of the press is explicitly connected to the rise of social awareness to some complicated issues of the land. However, some news agencies we hear cannot fully express it. He eventually stated that the alternative press is a way to balance the news we hear from day to day. On the other hand, Mr. Magsoy emphasized the unequal share of wealth in the present. The said growth of GDP that only the top billionaires of the land can feel, while, common Filipinos still being denied higher salary. The event concluded to Ms. Claustro’s report about the current situation of the campus press in the country. The current Chairperson of CEGP-Metro Manila reiterated that there is still no genuine campus press liberty though Campus Journalism Act of 1991 is there. She later lamented the 230 filed campus press violations in 2013. This emphasizes that the current act which said to protect campus journalist has no protection at all, Ms. Claustro said. The institution is currently on its 83rd year to protect and to uphold campus press freedom rights, as well as, people’s rights— a tradition that the institution still lives on since 1931.

Modified Uniform Policy Set ‘Grooming Standards’ for PUPTians Jemalyn Lazaro
Student Council Assembly revised the existing uniform policy of last year’s administration. The assembly meeting was held last June 26. The revised uniform policy added “proper grooming” for students. Some prohibitions in Resolution No. 2014-01 are unauthorized hair color and body piercing. Majority of prohibitions are concerning male students of the campus. Uniform day policy is
also strengthened by the resolution. In the resolution, students are now prescribed to wear their school uniform after P.E. class in school uniform days. Same disciplinary measures will apply to the violators. CSC Secretary-General Christian Pareja noted that the revision is only to update the past policy concerning uniform since no section to promote proper grooming was stated in the past policy. “Ang estudyante ang repleksyon ng unibersidad. Kaya
kinakailangan na sa pananamit at ayos pa lang, makikita na ng iba na respetado tayo,” he said. Mr. Pareja also cited PUP Student Handbook’s guideline in social norms as stated in Section 2.1. In case of conflicts in any resolutions by the SCA or CSC, Mr. Pareja encourages PUPTians to raise their concerns to any academic and non-acadmic organizations that can help you with your problem such the the Council.
were edited and professors were the ones who played the role in. The audience who majority are students and alumni of the campus were very glad and energetic the whole evening. They couldn't make just a single glance for witnessing the all-out performances of the faculty and employees of PUPT. They even cheered for their favorite performers. The well-designed and organized stage and the lustrous lights contributed even more to the mood of the concert. Students were very amused, at the same time, surprised seeing their professors do such thing on stage. One of the performances that made the crowd go wild is the shirtless dance number of some male professors. "Just like any other teacher, we should always give the best," PUPTFEA Pres. Margarita Sevilla said in the interview of The Chronicler.
The concert was a big challenge to the professors and employees of PUPT in doing their best. "It becomes challenging when your best is at stake," she added. According to Professor Sevilla, they conducted such activity to showcase the talents of the faculty members and to show that they are not only good in "board" and "papers", but more amazing as well. The benefit of this activity is that they can be able to raise funds for the association activities like their seminars, medical missions, spiritual development, recreational activities -- primarily to finance the association’s activities. As the president of the PUPTFEA, Professor Sevilla said on behalf of the PUPTFEA members that what they enjoyed most is that the students were enjoying. The next PUPT FEA Concert will be on 2016. The PUPT presents this activity every two years.
Boom Panes! Campus’ Employees and Faculties Unleashed Their Inner Talents Kristin Louise Omiz
Students cheer for their professors as they dance and sing in this year’s PUPT professors’ and employees’ one-night event. The PUPTFEA or Polytechnic University of the Philippines-Taguig Faculty and Employees Association presented a show for the students entitled "CONCERT NAMIN TO BOOM PANES KAYO" last September 11 held at the PUPT Gym. Professors and employees of PUP-Taguig showed off their talents in the said event by performing live on stage. The event lasted for hours leaving the students a total entertainment. It can be seen that this event is not just so simple, but a big and totally-prepared one. They made it a variety show for it is easiest to conceptualize. The show had different segments -- band performances, Stars on 45, and song and dance numbers. It even had commercials taken from television which
CEGP Refutes Another Red-Baiting Incident Jeffern Dave Ando
“As National Center for the Advancement of Campus Press Freedom, it is imperative for us to refute and condemn this baseless and dubious accusation tied to the institution’s prestige.” CEGP stated after a red-baiting incident happened last August 23 at Ateneo de Davao University during its NSTP orientation. College Editors Guild of the Philippines (CEGP), the oldest
and broadest student publication alliance in Asia-Pacific and in the Philippines, was tagged by Capt. Nathaniel Morales from 10th Infantry Division of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) as legal front of CPP-NPA-NDF. On its published official statement, CEGP further reiterated that it aims for the student journalists, an alternative media and an eye-opener, to be the van-
guard and conveyor of the truth. The 83-year old institution whose alumni include among others, Sen. Miriam Santiago and Malou Mangahas, was also alarmed to Capt. Morales’ claim that the late-CEGP officer who was killed in Mindanao is a rebel. “Let it be clear that Beng Hernandez was not a rebel but a civilian; she was killed not in an encounter but in a fact-find-
Tution Increase in PUP Locally Funded Campuses Deferred by PUP Students Jullia Nicole Herrera
“It is important then to arouse the students on this matter through pen and paper and needed to, through mass actions and protects to call out the genuine grievances of the youth- the indiscriminate to money and free education for all.”—Alyansa ng Kabataang Mamamahayag ng PUP. Students of the university were exultant to gain triumph against another hike. PUP officials deferred their proposed 830% tuition fee increase from Php12/unit to Php100/unit on locally-funded campuses (LFCs) of the said university. PUP last increased its tuition in 1979. Though considered as the cheapest tuition in the country, PUP still produces top notching and exceptional alumni year after year. On June 9, Resolution No. 9 Series of 2014, the proposed standard tuition and miscellaneous fees for LFCs, was approved by the PUP executive committee. An immediate endorsement by PUP President Dr. Emmanuel C. De Guzman was sent to the Board of Regents. Nevertheless, the approval of the proposal to be on June 20 was postponed to July 2 at the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) main office due to the students’ opposition. This shenanigan is coherently molded after President Benigno S. Aquino III’s the Roadmap on Public Higher Education (RPHER) which aims at the further
commercialization of state universities and colleges (SUCs) in the country. Pres. De Guzman repeatedly denies increase, instead, to “standardize” fees collected as two campuses (Biñan and Bansud Campuses) reportedly collects higher fee than the rest of the LFCs. However, UMAKSYONPUP clearly denounced the denial. In their official statement they claimed that if it meant to “standardized” the fees collected in all PUP campuses, it must be genuine as to propose Php12/unit not Php 100/unit. Actions were pushed in Main campus together with several students across the PUP System. On July 2, numerous PUP students marched to CHED office while on-going discussion between PUP and CHED happend. Since PUPT is far from CHED Office, local actions were made to express PUPTians solidity against the proposed increase. PUP Taguig students wore black shirts to unite against the tuition increase. CSC President noted that the black shirt campaign was a momentous event for the campus. He expressed that even without ‘violent actions’, PUPTians can still declare their disappointment to any acts such as tuition increase. In the meeting at CHED, PUP officials decided not to push the agenda further.
ing mission. She was killed in her exercise as a journalist.” Over the years, the military has been propagating ‘black propagandas’ against progressive groups. In 2012, AFP accused the institution and other student progressive groups in Palawan State University. Moreover, CEGP questions the on-going military presence in some campuses all over the country. They directed the con-
tinuing presence of the military, especially in colleges and universities located in provinces, to Aquino III’s Oplan Bayanihan. “The State’s game plan is obvious; to silence the campus press. It is the silence of the campus press that ferments and prolongs social injustice.” “…nothing can deter us from being the mouthpiece of the students and of the people.” CEGP declared.

Commemorating One-year Mark against Pork Barrel,
People’s Initiative vs. Pork Barrel Launched Jeffern Dave Ando
“Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy… Ayaw sa Baboy!” “Ang korapsyon po ay systemic. Napakalala po talaga n’yan,” declared actress-activist Mae Paner aka Juana Change, one of the organizers behind two successful ‘Million People March’ events last year and this year’s commemoration of the event which happened last August 25. Lumiliko sabi ko!” she added as she stood in the stage in front of the people eagerly listening. Different groups varying from students to youth, progressive to Church-backed entities, all were making a change fighting against all forms of Pork barrel in the system. Groups
launched “People’s Initiative.” People’s Initiative is a signature campaign movement started at the event that duly permitted under the 1987 Philippine Constitution. It will move a bill to be enacted without passing the Legislative body. Provided if 10 percent of the total registered voters or at least 3 percent per legislative districts would sign the said petition. Organizers push that this must be signed as they fear that corruption will continue and worsen in the coming years. This is relevant as Pork Barrel scandal sparked with top government officials from past and current administration were being connected in this shameful controversy. Aquino III’s Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP) rocked the administration after it was ruled unconstitutional by the Supreme Court. Millions and billions of Pesos were shift-
ed to questionable projects by the government through the ‘savings’ part of the program. Though the administration repeatedly announced that no Pork Barrel exists, there is still a Php 500Million as lump sum or discretionary funds in the 2015 National Budget. This lump sum is unknown in terms where it will go. Groups like Association of Major Religious Superior of the Philippines (AMRSP), Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP) and National Council of Churches in the Philippines (NCCP) support the abolishment of all kinds of Pork Barrel. This will not be the last, organizers promised. They will form forums in legislative districts, cities and municipalities and even in schools where the people are. People’s Initiative will progress until the target quota is achieved or until late December 2014 or early January next year.

campus journalists gathered together at the Ninoy Aquino Library and Learning Resource Center in PUP-Manila in a forum for the Php 2.5Trillion 2015 National Budget. Marjohara Tucay, External Vice President of Kabataan Partylist, was the speaker of “Days of Action for Development Justice” last August 9. Mr. Tucay went to explain the weaknesses of the government’s expenditure plan for next year, calling it inaccurate for the government might have overbudgeted. The main cause of it is relying on their premature overestimation of growth rates and understimation of the possible rise in inflation rates for the next fiscal year. Much more importantly, the “presidential pork barrel” that was in the budget was put into light in the discussion, summing up to 501.6 billion pesos. According to Tucay, this enormous fund in the control of the Chief Ex-
be used for unknown purposes. Other provisions of the national budget were presented, such as the allocation of funds by expense class, departments, and sectors, government’s target revenue to finance the budget, and the revised definition of savings and augmentation, which will pave the way to legalize the highly controversial Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP) and its use. Mr. Tucay also expressed his disappointment as another set of budget cut looms the State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) next year. In example, PUP proposed Php 2.15 Billion, but, DBM only approved Php 1 Billion for 2015. Mr. Tucay concludes that the new national budget will “not be beneficial for the people”. He further states that with controversial and unclear statements in the expenditure program, the money from the people “may be only included in a budget for corruption”.

PUPT’s TrendiV Launched Kent Garcia
“Like ko yan!” Thus, the trademark line of PUP TrendiV, our branch’s first-ever online magazine show that was launched last July 30. The weekly show, produced and managed by our very own PUPTians, aims to inform fellow students and non-PUPTians alike about the latest events and trending topics inside our Sintang Paaralan. TrendiV was conceptualized by Information Technology professor Ronald Alayon and his students under the Multimedia subject, composed by third year Bachelor of Science in Information Technology students. Inspired by the success of recent student magazine shows on the Web, he and his students started and eventually succeeded in creating the magazine show, as a project for his subject. “The purpose of TrendiV is for the students to show their opinions about general issues. The output is to practice their skills on the [Multimedia] subject”, Prof. Alayon explains. He further added that the show is “not just for PUP,
but also for general purpose”. The first episode of TreniV was uploaded last August 1. New episodes are uploaded weekly on its YouTube channel and Facebook page, respectively. The videos have already caught the attention of PUPTians, with every episode garnering tens of Facebook likes and shares and hundreds of YouTube views. Every episode features very interesting topics, like the famous crushes inside the campus, cheating techniques on examinations, “do’s and don’ts” inside the premises of our Sintang Paaralan, among others. Regarding the future plans for TrendiV, Prof. Alayon says that he wants to “continue the show with other batches that will take the Multimedia subject” under his charge, and the show be a practice ground “for the students to express their opinions”. Eventually, he hopes that the show will inspire the university to manage TrendiV, and attract sponsors in the near future.
Titans cheered until the last beat! PUP Taguig Titans Pep Squad cheered last September 23 in PUP-Sta.Mesa Main Gymnasium. The once called PUP Taguig Varsity Squad, clashed against eight teams from different colleges, branches and campuses in PUP System. At the end of the competition, PUP-College of Communication hailed as champion for the seventh time! PUP-College of Arts and Letters and PUP-Sta. Maria, Bulacan Campus secured the second and thrid position, respectively. Meanwhile, ’Titans’ placed 5th in the competition. Maica Loreto, senior member of the squad, said it was ‘not bad’ at all. She said. According to Miss Loreto, it’s only two weeks of preparation before the event. However, this didn’t hamper the squad’s work.
“We will train better for next year. Bernie Custodio, team captain of the pep squad, proclaimed. Prof. Bernadette Canlas, Head of Student Services, congratulated the recent win of the pep squad. It’s not only the squad they are representing but the the whole PUPT community. Kaya talaga binigay nila ang best nila,” Prof. Canlas said. ***** PUP Taguig Titans Squad used to join the cheerdance in university intramurals only as an “intermission number,” as stated by an informant. The move to ban the sqaud was because they also joined the National Cheering Championship qualifiers where they compete together with PUP-Sta. Mesa.

UP is a well-known university having the lowest tuition fee in the country yet providing quality of education that can compete to other popular universities. PUP-Taguig is one of its branches. Many high school graduates aspire to be a student in PUPT and have taken the PUPCET (Polytechnic University of the Philippines College Entrance Test). But, only few passed. And now, let us know how what some of our freshies expected when they knew they are now part of the “Iskolar ng Bayan” community.
Jean Noelle Rodriguez
BS Information Technology “College, in general, was an alien concept to me. Having just graduated from high school, being admitted by PUPT was both a nerve-wracking and exciting experience at the same time. I expected nothing less from this institution, and upon taking my first step through the university’s entrance I knew that this will be yet another roller coaster ride. New faces, new teachers, new standards and challenges – at first it was overwhelming. But as time passes by, PUPT – and the daily struggles of being a student of it – became a challenge I have wholeheartedly accepted.
Ariane Agabon
BS Business Administration maj. Human Resource Management “I expected that the students of PUPT are very studious, disciplined, and grade conscious. During the enrollment, I felt excited and a little bit nervous because of the new environment, new school, new classmates, and new acquaintances that are totally different from my high school life. In the first sem in this school, I experienced a lot like adjusting to a new environment, professors, and the schedule. I realized that the students of PUPT are not really nerds. They are just simple but unique.”
Daryl Paderagao
BS Accountancy “I expect that PUPT will help me to reach my dreams through well-quality education. And of course I expect that it will develop me as a whole. My experience in PUPT during the first month is great. It developed my self-esteem. Hope to learn more.”
Sheryl Shane Buenagua
BS Actuarial Mathematics “From the very start, I knew entering in PUPT is a big challenge in my life. From the test that I can say is extremely hard, and up until now. It is an honor to be a PUPTian. I know in my heart and in my mind that it is worth it. I knew and expected it to happen so I just have to endure the pain and survive at all cost.
Ariel Saballero
BS Office Administration “I was so happy that I passed the PUPCET because I really want to be a PUPTian. I already know that being a student of PUP would be not so easy for me but I never expected that this would be so hard. I don’t have enough time to sleep because of the paper works, assignments, groupings and especially the tests. Still, I can say that everything is worth it especially when all the hard works that I've done were paid back.”
the word we hate but still have to live with Traffic. It’s that one word we hate to happen. But we always have to deal with, isn’t it? Everywhere in this big metropolis, traffic jams are like a gum under a chair-- always there and annoying. It is reported that traffic congestion in Metro Manila costs Php 2.4 Billion a day in 2012. This big loss in our economy today will increase up to Php6 Billion a day in 2030, all according to a report by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The economic lost of the Philippines is being added by frustrations of every Filipinos stuck in traffic. It causes delays and cancellations of appointments, late in classes, fuel costs and even greater greenhouse emissions. Manila traffic jam is so intense that even Dan Brown wrote how chaotic it is in one of his book. In case no one knows, Philippines is one of the top 10 most congested cities in the world. Any possible solution to this eerie problem? Yes there is. Mass transportation such as trains and jeepneys can combat traffic gridlocks all over.
NGITING PINOY Kabigha-bighani,Kahanga-hanga. “SELFIE”.
Neil Daryl Sulit However, latest news about these kind of solution isn’t what we want to hear. Ease of accessibility, efficiency, and comfort of the condition of the transportation of a certain country mirrors its economic status and growth. It’s the vein of the economy. Countries such as Japan, USA and other First world countries have their transportation to be fixed ASAP. In the Philippines, the condition of transportation can be defined as relatively underdeveloped. Take an example our train system. Although in past years, the country is successful to be advanced in this kind of transportation. But in the present, you can never tell that once we’re on top. Long queues, crowded coaches of trains, time consuming wait for the next train to come and frequent ‘minor’ problems of the train system are the major problems encountered by thousands of commuters everyday.

and Metro Rail Transit Corporation (MRTC) was little became privatized, the government assured more convenient way of travel. But, as years pass by, the promise failed. Latest news concludes that private-public patnership of these kinds of transportation didn’t accomplished what the government dreamed to happen. In a metropolitan area that cradles almost 12 million population plus people who travel from province and together with 17 infrastructure projects in this region today, it is obvious that heavy traffic will stay a little bit longer. But, as how the government invests heavily in roads, there is also a must to sustain our mass transportation. Our neighbor Singapore can teach the country some ways to ease traffic congestion. With no train system in early 1980s, the Lion City have 153km of mass transit lines, 161km highways and poses tax to stop Singaporeans buy private cars today. Pres. Aquino has seen first hand the wonders of mass transportation in Europe. Let’s hope that he can get an idea there.

He eats bird! He’s not a plane! He is Kronik Kat! Oo! May nasasangkot pa ring opisyal
Ting-ting-ting-ting-tingting! Distress call somewhere over there! May nangangailangan tulong! Since required sa mga superhero ang dance and song number habang sinusuot ang costume,
ginawa niya ito. Proud siya isuot ang costume nuya bago dahil made in the Philippines (boycott kasi niya ang Chinese products. No to illegal Chinese occupation at Spratlys!). Pagkatapos ng dance and song number, kinuha niya ng susi ng invisible car. “Shetable shemay. Lakad mode na.” Hindi niya kasi mahanap ang invisible car. Let’s goooooo!!!!

Puro papogi. Tingnan mo kwarto ko. Mapupuno na ng calculator. Calculator pa lang kasi ang nirarasyon.” Ang pagpapatuloy ni Mew2. Oh may! Nag-ingay na naman ang distress call! Saan ba nangagaling ‘to?
At sila’y nagparty-party.
“’Wag mo akong yakapin!” Sabay layo ni Mew2. “Nag-deo naman ako, pre.” Sagot ni Kronik Kat. “May lalabagin kasi tayong batas dito.” “Ha?”

May lesson plan pa ako due tomorrow tapos isang intense na ala-thesis na the day after tomorrow ang pasahan!” “Chilax lang pre. “Ano ba ‘yang lider ninyo. Nakakalurki.” Nako pati si Kronik Kat mukhang hinayblad. “Tapos ito pa. Gusto niyang manuod kami ng play. Syempre gusto namin kasi masaya kaya iyon noh. But don’t you dare.
. . Mag burger ka na lang. Dimunyo yan!. Overknights Pillow Fight in CS Night Computer Society The Computer Society (CS) held their Acquaintance Party at the PUPT Gymnasium last July 4. ‘Slumber Party’ was this year’s theme of the acquaintance. Overknights were required to bring their own pillows. To avoid any awkwardness from the freshmen, CS officials asked them to introduce themselves in front of the higher years. Performances and games also helped to hype up the atmosphere. But nothing made it special without… pillow fight! When a specific music play as the lights goes on and off, a minute pillow fight would happen. They don’t care who will be hit as long as it isn’t intentional for the sake of fun. The party ended with a band performance while the participants are eating and lastly—a raffle draw.# Photo from Computer Society

However, NGOs who partnered with the organization saw how successful it was. It became a program that was supported even by international partners of JCI. It’s more fun be a PASOA member! The Philippine Association of Students in Office Administration- PUP Taguig (PASOA) did their annual team building last June 20, 2014 in the campus grounds. PASOA officers headed by their president Ms. Lorena Duhac, facilitated the event. PASOA members had to be teamed up to 10 teams which are named by colors: blue, yellow, grey, black, brown, red, blue, green, violet and orange. The teams have to be successful in the 10 obstacles before moving to the final round which was named ‘four pics one word.” “Our goal is to create a united to
PASOA community,” Ms. Duhac said. “Lalo na sa mga first year students kasi nahihiya pa sila since first time nila sa college. So, we need to make them feel welcome at the same time having fun and meeting their ates and kuya,” she continues. With the games they played and the fun they shared, organizers of the event believed that this will improve their self confidence, too. Blue team won the team building, while, violet and red team won second and third place, respectively. PASOA ended their team building through their ‘Unity Circle’. “Unity Circle is symbolizes unity and friendship,” Ms. Duhac noted. # Photos from PASOA

Theater Group Celebrated Buwan ng Wika
Polyteknikong Unibersidad ng Pilipinas: Ugat ng Kamalayang Aktibo sa Wika
It’s been a wonderful celebration of Buwan ng Wika by PUPUKAW. PUP-Taguig’s only theater group initiated an activity to make the PUPTians enjoy the country’s celebration of our national languange. Attendees of the event were happy to see PUPUKAW members dance, sing and play a skit all for the name of the celebration last August 28 in PUP-Taguig gymnasium. Meanwhile, several First year students had a friendly competition between them through sabayang pagbigkas. Though there is no winner, students still played hard to give the viewers a wonderful show. To make the event more special, Taguig
City Vice Mayor Ricardo Cruz joined the event. Vice Mayor Cruz really enjoyed the event. Ms. Pereña continued that the event was made special because no ordinary matter must be done in the ocasion that held the Filipino language high.

A Story on A Certain Morning We ran past each other Cautious, pacing fast Afraid of flashbacks Afraid of memories Afraid to move on Afraid of you Afraid of me But still you Finally moved on Accepted memories Without the flashbacks Confident, walking slow We walked towards each other (Pwede basahin simula sa taas o sa baba)

Ave Atque Vale, Mi Fillium
Facade
I silently watched This painless game A one-sided hide and seek To fool, to trick Easy all the same I approached and smiled, however meek His eyes feigned joy An obvious, foolish facade I never fell into, For deep within my greets and smiles Is a fragmented broken soul So I knew all the while Insecurities, his sadness And never took the time To pick up his shards and broken pieces For he was never mine
Naririnig ko na naman siya.
Bumubulong.

Yan Si Kras
A smile A seemingly harmless smile Reaching from ear to ear Joyfully greeting others All the while To all people who are near
Takot akong matulog mag-isa.

Poetic Sentiment I stare upon the alps to shake me out of a drunken sleep. Today, they are true and profuse; they didn’t leave an outline of the chromatic crown they had worn around, that had clothed them in the downtown. As I watch the alps, I realize I am on foreign land once again, floating aloft things like hot, summer dew then. Home is where consciousness loses its hold, where you are one with the wind, heat, dust and cold, family and loved ones, your desires and dreams, the grass and streams, stars and moon when it dims. People come and go; you meet them at doors, on driveways or highways. Sometimes, they come unannounced, catching you in the middle of a glance or a yawn, or on your bare feet. Other times, they come in full regalia, wearing all sorts of mask and insignia. At worst times they come in a hysteria like strong, heavy waves; as you escape you can only thank your paves, or fancy faves. There are times when you feel like you are a perfect friend to yourself and prefer to be alone. You don’t see or touch anyone; you don’t think any thought. Neither do you listen to anything except to that beat swelling below your heart or the tiny pulse droning underneath your wrist. People come together; Where selves are gathered, there is no heeding, there is only giving. In the locus of a moment there is a loss of self and atonement. That, maybe, is the secret of joy. There is no one who stands above you, before you, or near you. It is only you and the moment. Maybe, it is because in memory lies self-knowledge in contrary.

Maikling Kwento Reniel Dave Espiritu
Yung tipong may halong sinseridad.”
