As October draws to a close, organizers at the Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer are making a concerted push to bring out as many teams as possible. The ride, which sees cyclists traverse 200-plus kilometres over two days on their choice of a variety of courses, serves as a fundraiser for the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. Participants can choose to ride from Toronto to Niagara Falls or vice versa, or run other routes. The annual event has become a tradition for a number of families and teams, including the Innes family from Lawrence Park. Parents Eric and Candace and their sons, Brendan and Scott, first started participating in 2008. “( The Princess Margaret Foundation) had the Weekend to End Women’s Cancers and they wanted to do something for men’s cancers too,” said Brendan Innes. “Our family was quite excited about that. As a dad, a mom and two boys, we thought it would be great to get involved.” As they prepared for the race, the Innes family received a massive shock.
