T

here are three different chapters when you look at a relationship: The Relationship, Love and Marriage. Each chapter has its own beginning, middle and end, each beautiful and poetic in their own way. The complete story of Catherine Coronado and Claudio Ibarra is no different in its structure. The contents, however, are unique, telling of a partnership filled with honesty, fiery passion, commitment and raw feelings that every couple dreams about.

Coronado and Ibarra’s story begins in college in 2008. Completely absorbed in the Greek world, the Zeta Tau Alpha and Alpha Kappa Lambda, respectfully, became acquainted. Being in the same social circle, and busy academic and Greek life, the two quickly built a friendship. “Before we dated, it was always fraternity events and get togethers. The [fraternity] are like brothers to me so we spent, and still spend, a lot of time together.” And that’s all that it was for two years, a great friendship. The two even spent a lot of time together working on her father’s campaign for Justice of the Peace. “We have always loved spending time together, that’s why our friends think we’re crazy,” she laughs.

Coronado remembers Elizabeth telling her she needed to rewrite her vows since Ibarra’s were so beautiful.

Married by Coronado’s godfather, Judge Alejandro Gonzalez, the couple started their new life as husband and wife on June 11, 2016. Not to be compared to other weddings in the city, the wedding was not typical. Celebrating at EPIC Railyard Event Center, the scene was runway inspired, with a full topiary wall as a backdrop, crystal and gold accents and ostrich feathers instead of flowers. Their Greek family was there, a lot of them part of the wedding party, reinforcing the bond of sister and brotherhood.

Her wedding dress was more of a gown, circling around her in white perfection as she moved through her reception. “There was a moment we had before eating that we kind of had to ourselves. Other than that, we were surrounded by people,” says Coronado, looking back on the day. The only thing that she would have changed is being able to spend more time with people. The couple both agreed that the day could have gone slower, so as to appreciate and live in every moment.

They danced their first dance to Keith Urban’s, “Making Memories of Us,” played live by Joe Barron, and the two stepped together in sync; a foreshadowing of their married life.

As the night came to an end, the smiles never faded, nor did the ecstatic feeling that rose from deep inside their bodies. They honeymooned in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and made the smooth transition into husband and wife, for their happily ever after.

Soon after, the Montelongo’s boarded their flight to the Tahiti Islands, where they began their marriage in tropical bliss.

Terry does not regret sparring the help of a wedding planner. Together with the help of family, friends, and all professional collaborators, their event resulted in a day that exceeded the couple’s expectations. She attributes the success of the day in part to her sister who helped coordinate the flow of the day’s events, guiding guests from cocktail hour, to ceremony, to reception, and addressing any logistical concerns, leaving the couple to enjoy their day free of stress. Terry describes her wedding day in one word: amazing.

Not only did the Montelongo’s craft an exceptional day, their personalities were demonstrated through every detail that made up the wedding. Terry emphasizes this advice to create a day that will satisfy the heart and bring forth the uniqueness of both loves: “when it comes to planning your wedding, there are no rules. You don’t need to have any sort of traditional wedding ritual if you don’t want to. It is your day to celebrate becoming husband and wife and you are free to create it however you like.”

Sarah wore an open-back, form fitting laced gown. The groom wore a light grey tuxedo.

The bridal party’s dresses were knee length and sage, while the groom’s party wore darker grey tuxedos with brown shoes.

Sarah said while she put in months of preparing the colors, the food and decorations, she had to constantly remind herself not to sweat the small stuff.

“As a control freak, I had my moments where this was difficult to remember but at the end of the day, you can’t control every little detail and you definitely can’t control the little things that will go wrong, you can only control how you react to them.”

And while wanting your wedding to be absolutely perfect is understandable, Sarah said to remember the one reason for the occasion in the first place.

“It’s not about the wedding, it’s about the marriage and as long as you remember that, the wedding planning should be fun, not stressful!”

Sarah said to hire a truly professional photographer to add to the magical event.

Martha and Gregory Lush here is a plan and a future for each one of us. Martha and Greg Lush knew that from the moment they were introduced to one another by

their dear friend, Amanda Lopez, who later served

as Martha’s Maid of Honor. The two were enjoying

a lovely dinner in Santa Fe, New Mexico, when she

says he got very quiet before popping the big question.

It being a second marriage for both, Martha says she and Greg both possess a sense of maturity, life experiences, respect and honesty to their relationship.

It was on a hiking trip in Sedona, with Greg’s family, when Martha says she knew Greg was the one. She spent time with his family there, and on their way up to Escondido, California to attend a family wedding. Everyone was so welcoming and accepting towards her; she just felt like part of his family. That’s when it really hit home for her.

Following their seven-month engagement, the couple left all the big decisions to their friend and wedding planner, Patrick Carey. Because Carey was familiar with their taste, the pair felt confident he would go above and beyond to create a beautiful event. In an effort to help everyone relax a little more during a meet and greet, guests were welcomed with cocktails while enjoying live guitar music played by Ricardo Valencia. Martha says one of the most memorable details about her and Greg’s beautiful ceremony included a live version of her favorite song, “Ave Maria,” sung by Jessica Flores.

Martha says it was hard work fighting back tears, and trying to not trip over her skirt, as she walked down the aisle. However, when she finally spotted Greg, she was stunned at how handsome he looked. When the two locked eyes, he also started to get teary-eyed. In hopes of making him smile, so they could get through their vows, Martha shot him a funny face. Once she made it down the aisle, their dear friend, Judge Linda Chew, gave what they described as “the most beautiful wedding vows which had everyone in happy tears.”

The bride, along with the rest of their families and friends, were simply amazed with all the final touches perfectly placed inside the El Paso Botanical Gardens.

Blair Salome and Daniel Morilla They Met: My husband, Dan, was invited to a house party in his neighborhood, which my brother and sister-in-law happened to be attending as well. My sister-in-law, Daniela, spotted Dan at the party and noticed that he didn’t have a date. Randomly, she decided to introduce herself and in the midst of conversation, decided he and I would make a good couple! Long story short, she gave him my phone number and he ended up contacting me soon after. The funny thing is that the hosts of the party were hoping to set him up with another woman at the party! Luckily that didn’t work out.

The Proposal: Our first date was at Independent Burger, so he decided to propose there about a year and a half later. It was pretty laid back. After dinner, he took me out to the restaurant patio and got down on one knee. I rarely see him nervous but he looked pretty nervous that night!

Theme: I chose a rustic-chic, garden look. I’ve always been drawn to the look of greenery or floral against rustic wood tables, without linen overkill. I wanted it to look simple and natural.

Colors: The colors were neutral—white, cream and green. We had a mix of long wooden tables and round tables. There were no table cloths on the long tables but we did have linens on the rounds- grey table cloths with cream organza toppers/overlays. The arrangements on the wooden tables had multiple small centerpieces with white lanterns intermixed. Flowers were white and green, and there was greenery that ran the length of the table. As for the rounds, there were beautiful hanging centerpieces in addition to small centerpieces on the tables.

Monica Gireud and Dayne Goss They Met: Our mutual friends, Madeline and Josh Farley, introduced Dayne and me back in 2011. They thought we had matching personalities and would get along great so they invited us out to a bar to meet. It took a couple of months of hanging out before we actually started dating though!

The Proposal: It was over Memorial Day Weekend in May 2015. We had a trip planned to Fredericksburg that was supposed to be super romantic, but unfortunately that was the weekend of the Memorial Day floods that hit Central Texas so we had to cancel our trip. He ended up proposing to me that weekend anyways after a wonderful day date that ended with us listening to live music at an ale house. I guess the music inspired him because he ended up proposing right outside the venue!

The Date: April 9th, 2016.

The Wedding: The ceremony was at St. Patrick’s Cathedral and the reception was at the Coronado Country Club with 250 in attendance.

Theme: Elegant and romantic—we wanted something that was classic and charming, but was true to my Mexican roots.

The Flowers: Roses, hydrangeas, dendrobium orchids and phalaenopsis.

Colors: Ivory, blush and champagne.

Wedding Day Planning: Dayne and I both live in Houston now, so my mom planned most of the wedding. Without her I’m not sure we would have even had a wedding! There was so many back and forth phone calls and countless pinterest boards created. It was incredible to see her turn our visions into reality over just some phone calls and pictures. She hand cut the table numbers and the doilies for the menus using a laser cutter. She had the chocolate boxes on each seat handmade by a family friend specifically for our wedding. She added key details that completely surprised us.

Catherine Osborn and Reese Hale They Met: We were introduced in college by mutual friends and shortly after went on our first date and the rest was history.

The Proposal: It was a Sunday morning after church. We were supposed to be meeting his parents for lunch, but they were “running late.” We walked around the outside of the restaurant where there happened to be a gazebo and that’s where he proposed. Little did I know, that wasn’t the only surprise of the day. After the proposal I noticed my little sister taking pictures from the restaurant and the three of us went to meet his parents at the actual lunch location. On the way there I called my mom to excitedly tell her the good news, but apparently she was in the car behind us on the way to the restaurant!

Reese had coordinated with my parents so that they could come to [town] for the special day, which was always one of my dreams. We had one of the most memorable and special brunches with both of our immediate families that I will remember for the rest of my life.

It was the perfect proposal; I was so excited to get to marry Reese.

The Date: July 2nd, 2016 The Wedding: Our wedding was at First Baptist Church in downtown El Paso and our reception was at Coronado Country Club. We had about 210 guests.

The Flowers: Roses, hydrangeas and some greenery.

Theme: Our theme was traditional, elegant and romantic.

Colors: Our colors were blush, white, ivory and gold. We included candles to also emphasize the romantic feel.

What Was Your Favorite Thing About Planning The Wedding: Finding the dress. You dream about the dress as a little girl and while growing up. Finding the dress that is everything you dream of was the first step in making our dream wedding become reality.

C at h e r i n e a n d R e e s e H a l e Was There A Special Element In Your Wedding: The first special element was in our marriage ceremony. We were lucky enough to have the pastor I grew up with and baptized me, come back to El Paso and perform the ceremony. I always pictured Dr. Levi Price performing my wedding ceremony and it meant the world to have him previously meet Reese and travel to El Paso for our special day.

The other special element was during our first dance. I choreographed a fun dance to go in the middle of our traditional first dance. Reese and I only told two family members about the surprise. The rest of our family and friends had no idea it was coming! It was so fun for Reese and me to show how much we enjoy each other through our first dance to all of our families and friends.

Most Memorable Moment: The first look. Getting time one on one to see each other and talk before the ceremony reminded me of what this was all about, our marriage. I knew from that moment on, no matter how the day unfolded, our marriage was headed in the right direction. Luckily we also had an amazing wedding!

Wedding Day Jitter Remedies: We had been waiting for and praying about our wedding day for a long time, so neither of us had wedding jitters. We were incredibly excited on the day of our wedding, and trusted in God’s plan for us.

First Dance: Our traditional first dance song was “L.O.V.E.” by Nat King Cole and the fun song that we broke into for our fun dance was “Do You Love Me (Now That I Can Dance)” by The Contours.

Wedding Summed Up In Three Words: Stunning, meaningful, joyful.

Honeymoon: We went to Costa Rica for our honeymoon and stayed at the Westin Golf and Spa Resort. We loved it and would highly recommend it anyone! The beach was absolutely beautiful and the resort had many different activities offered daily.

Linda Hernandez De Santiago and Francisco Emanuel Licona They Met: Both of our families went to the same church. I was a little girl when I would see him and his family at church and I thought he was so good looking, but a bit older than I was.

The Proposal: He proposed at a family reunion before Christmas in front of all of the family. He was going out of town and wanted to propose to me before he left. We both got so nervous, when he got down on one knee and put the ring on my finger, his hand trembled and he looked so flushed. I wasn’t expecting it and was so surprised.

I loved all the love we felt with all of the family around hugging us and taking video.

The Venue: It was held at Los Portales Venue. We had between 350 and 400 guests at our wedding.

The Flowers: White roses, pink roses, white/blue hydrangeas, runuculus, anémonas, premium garden roses and more.

The Theme: The theme of my wedding was very whimsical, because of the colors I chose. Also romantic—the colors are very feminine, pretty and elegant to me and I wanted it to be a romantic setting and feeling.

Colors: Light blue, navy, blush, ivory and gold.

Wedding Planning: My favorite thing was working with the people that helped put together my wedding. It was so much fun and interesting seeing how it all came together.

Most Memorable Moment: We had many memorable moments like our first dance together, but my most memorable one is when we were saying our vows at the church.

All of my bridesmaids got ready at my house and seeing my closest friends and family all around me that morning and chatting was what calmed me. Jennifer Jordan and David Regalado They Met: The story began at Barnett Harley Davidson- Jennifer and David exchanged brief conversation while in line for a motorcycle demonstration. Jennifer’s mother, who was also there with them, noticed a spark between the two and asked David to take Jennifer for a ride. Since then, Jennifer and David have been inseperable.

They Married: The El Paso International Museum of Art Theme: Jennifer and David wanted to keep it clean and simple. By incorporating a color palette of blush, ivory, white, gold, and rose gold, they added a touch of vintage to give it some elegance.

The Flowers: Jennifer and David’s flower arrangements called for unique choices that included dahlias, seeded eucalyptus, lemon leaf, Pittosporum, Mayolica, and white wax flowers.

The Planning: Jennifer enjoyed planning the wedding as a whole and selecting the details. While the food and cake tastings were fun, she says that dress shopping, and the detailing of her wedding day looked was very fun and special to her.

Ximena Fuentes and Bryan Gates They Met: Bryan and Ximena met while working at UTEP Athletics in the fall of 2012. After a few months of working together in the office, Ximena joked that they should try speed dating for fun (obviously she already had her eye on him). Stories vary as to who got whose number, but fast forward two years of dating later with Ximena in Austin working at UT-Austin and Bryan in El Paso.

Still together, Bryan would travel often to Austin to see her. After about six months and with a little help from Uncle Sam, Bryan decided that visiting wasn’t enough. He drove eight hours to Austin to surprise Ximena and asked her to marry him….

The Proposal: Ximena moved to Austin, Texas for a job opportunity and Bryan would travel to visit very often. Bryan surprised Ximena one night knocking on her door and getting on his knee asking her to marry him.

The Wedding: St. Matthew’s Catholic Church for the ceremony and Grace Gardens Event Center for the reception with 75 guests The Flowers: Succulents were our main flower/plant and we added peach tone flowers.

Colors/Décor: Simple and elegant with peach color tulips and succulents all over the venue The Wedding Planning: Everything was a learning experience and probably getting to know each other even more while making decisions.

Something Special: They had mariachis and a beautiful canvas guest book representing both of their countries and a heart in El Paso where they came together. Ximena is from Mexico City and Bryan is from Houston.

Most Memorable Moment: When the DJ opened the dance floor, it was nonstop fun. In general all that weekend was great being able to share our city with family and friends from out of town; they really enjoyed it.

Patrick Dimmitt The Venue: 150 Sunset Theme: Woodsy Rustic theme. I chose this theme because to me it had an intimate, romantic feeling. I’ve always loved hiking in forests and my husband proposed to me on a hike in Cloudcroft. All the trees around us made it feel comforting and romantic.

Greater than 80% of our guests were from out of town and we wanted to do as much as we could to accommodate them, as well as make it easier for us on that day. The venues placed our guests in the heart of El Paso, close to the airport, near our favorite restaurants and allowed the ability to take in sites within walking distance. Our venues offered breathtaking views, beautiful décor and great locations for our wedding pictures.

Flowers: Roses (groom’s selected flowers during courtship), tulips (bride’s favorite flower), snap dragons and hydrangeas (what’s in the garden).

Theme: Honoring Military Service We met in the desert of Afghanistan, and wanted to marry in the desert of El Paso, on Veterans Day, to honor and celebrate the crossing of our paths. We literally had to wait almost two years for the holiday to fall on a Friday (usually, it’s in the middle of the week)!

Colors and decor: Gold and Ivory, with accent shades of red We really took advantage of the beautiful décor of each venue— chandeliers, stained glass windows, baby grand piano, views of both El Paso and Juárez from the 17th floor, warm earth tone colors … and just added a few of our own personal touches!

DĂŠcor/Colors: Light tones of mauve, green and cream. Beautiful flowers and centerpieces were essential to the decor. We also incorporated chandeliers with taper candles that made the setting very romantic.

Wedding Planning Fun: Planning all the small favors and details for our guests to enjoy like the fun inflatable props, slippers so the ladies could keep dancing and the fun Mexican candy bar.

They Met: Armando and I met at work. We were really good friends and when I changed work places, our relationship blossomed.

The Proposal: Armando and I purchased a home prior to getting married and since both of us come from traditional families, we decided that he would move into “our house,” and once married I would move in to “our home”. A couple of months passed after we purchased the home, he was fully moved in and we had already picked the engagement ring but no proposal. I knew that he was trying to surprise me, but every time we would go to dinner or any holiday passed by, I’d keep a look out for that proposal. On MLK day 2016, we were both in athletic gear cleaning the house and discussing our finances since “our” new home unexpectedly had plumbing problems. During this “romantic” time, (hence no glam or fancy dinner,) were just cleaning and discussing plumbing issues, Armando decided to get on one knee in our living room and propose in the most unexpected way, and asked me to marry him because we were going to be together through thick and thin. Ultimately, Armando accomplished to surprise me and it was the best proposal ever.

The Theme: “Romantic Glam.” I picked this theme because I wanted a traditional wedding that would be timeless. I want to look at pictures 30 years from now and still consider the theme to be relevant and not outdated.

Colors/Décor: Blush, white and gray. The décor was classic and glamorous.

Weddings, 2017 I guess I can say I enjoyed it all: the budget spreadsheets, the bridesmaid proposals, planning the honeymoon and all of the décor.

But the ultimate best part of it all was seeing my vision come to life.

Most Memorable Moment: Walking down the aisle with my “Dery.” It was so surreal.

I had a veil covering my face so my dad uncovered my face, gave me his blessings.

Then my mom gave me a hug and her blessings, she also told me not to cry and to hold it together. Then my dad walked me towards Armando and said “you’re taking my treasure.” Armando then kissed my hand and said he’d take care of me forever.

Wedding Day Jitters Remedies: Lots of sleep and water. I also meal prepped because I knew I was going to be rushed and I didn’t want to be moody. I also had a very detailed timeline, for myself and for the wedding court.

Andrew Bush They Met: We met at a going away lunch for a mutual friend and coworker.

The Proposal: Andy proposed on New Year’s Eve 2015 during sunset, on Scenic Drive with my whole family able to watch from a distance (which was a total surprise to me!).

The Venue: Butterfield Trail Golf Course. We had about 125 guests.

The Flowers: We had a mix of light pink roses and a few other flowers that tied back to our colors.

The Theme: We went with a rustic feel. We felt it tied nicely to the venue and to our personality styles and things we like to do together (i.e. country concerts, golfing, etc.).

Colors/Décor: Our colors were pink and navy blue. Our friends joke those are our “assigned colors” pretty regularly in day to day outfits we wear together.

Favorite Thing About Planning The Wedding: Seeing it all come together with our closest friends and family by our side.

Most Memorable Moment: Our first dance was something I’ll never forget. I’m really proud Andy saved his best two-stepping performance for that particular night! He did such a great job, especially being from Michigan, where country music isn’t quite as popular.

Wedding Day Jitter Remedies: There were definitely some nerves, but in a good way. I think the shot of whiskey my bridesmaids got us did the trick. Once I saw Andy standing there watching me walk out, the rest of the moments thereafter were perfect.

They Met: We met at a White Elephant Christmas Party in December of 2014. I brought a Voluspa candle, he brought a rubber chicken.

The Wedding: Four Seasons Rancho Encantado – Santa Fe, New Mexico We wanted a destination wedding, but we also wanted the venue to be within driving distance of the majority of our friends and family.

With a lot of people coming from Texas and throughout New Mexico, Santa Fe seemed like the perfect fit.

Wedding Day Weather: It was an outside wedding on the Monte Vista Terrace at the Four Seasons. Very brave for the end of October, but we provided pashminas and a pashmina warming station “to have and to hold, in case they got cold!”, but the weather ended up being clear and in the high 60s.

The Rehearsal: Taberna at La Boca—a small event space that is behind the famous La Boca restaurant off of the plaza. We did family style tapas and wine.

The Theme: We wanted a “Fall Formal” theme with deep/rich colors and a romantic environment. Santa Fe’s natural beauty played right into the hands of our theme.

Guest Count: 145 Where Do You Live Now: El Paso, Texas If You Knew Then What You Know Now: Nothing, I had a great team—and the help of my mother—to make sure that everything ran smoothly and that nothing was left unattended too. I would do it all the same!

Advice: Don’t sweat the small stuff. Don’t let seating arrangements, welcome boxes, floral arrangements, etc. get in the way of remembering that as long as you leave the day married to your soulmate—then the wedding should be counted as a success!

They Met: We met in Chicago, which is where we both lived after we each graduated from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, IN. The Wedding: Fairmont Scottsdale Princess in Scottsdale, Arizona Why That Location: My (bride) family has a vacation home in North Scottsdale, so I grew up going there. It seemed like a home away from home, while still being a complete destination wedding.

The Rehearsal: The rehearsal was at Princess Falls at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, which was the location of the wedding.

Did Your Destination Influence The Theme: Yes. I wanted it to appropriately feel like we were in Arizona in the spring, which is what time of year it was. I wanted the wedding to fit with the setting.

Our flowers and décor were natural but not overly rustic – a lot of greens, succulents and whites. My dress was romantic. We had a beer donkey at the cocktail reception!

Guest Count: 150 Where Do You Live Now: San Francisco, California If You Knew Then What You Know Now: To not stress about my dress. I went with my gut and bought the first dress I tried on; but, like many brides, I second guessed it the entire time leading up to the wedding. It wound up being perfect! I never should have worried.

Advice To Other Brides: Think about what you want your wedding day to be like before asking friends and family to be bridesmaids.

For me, I had my two sisters as co-maids of honor and that was it.

Because it was just us, my wedding day was perfectly relaxing and stress-free; I enjoyed time with my mom, sisters, and close family.

Conversely, if you’re the type of bride who loves being surrounded by commotion and a large group of girls, then definitely have a big group! I think some brides forget that their wedding day should be about them– so only ask exactly who you want to be spending that special day with.

They Met: We met here in El Paso at the Doubletree rooftop pool. My friends and I were having a mini staycation when he and his friends arrived. I introduced myself and we all hung out until the pool closed that evening. As we parted ways, we found out in a touch of fate, our hotel rooms were right next door to one another. We shared a romantic Papa John’s pizza and talked about everything in life. From that first meeting, I knew there was just something special about him.

The Destination: We got married at the Moon Palace resort in Cancun, Mexico We knew we wanted a destination wedding from the start and we choose this location because we wanted somewhere beautiful and amazing in every way for both us and our guests.

Wedding Day Weather: We got lucky with our wedding day weather.

They had a backup plan to move us inside because the weather prediction for that day was supposed to be rainy. We got mid 80’s with no rain!

The Rehearsal: Our rehearsal was also in Cancun the day before the wedding. We met in the day for a quick run through of the ceremony with our coordinator and in the evening, they blessed us with a beautiful dinner, open bar and fireworks by the ocean for all our guests.

Theme: I’m a total vintage-chic kind of girl and we went with that vibe even though we were at the beach. We got the best of both worlds in a sense.

The Ceremony: We had an outdoor wedding and reception. Our ceremony was in a beautiful gazebo and our reception was on a beautiful terrace across from the gazebo. We had a total of 58 guests which was perfection.

Wedding Summed Up In Three Words: Magical, romantic and fun.

Advice: My advice to other brides is to be frugal but fabulous, have fun and let your personality shine through in your planning and take a deep breath daily. It’s a stressful process but in the end, every tear and every tantrum is so worth it.

They Met: We met at a CrossFit gym (Contrary to most dating advice) The Location: Hacienda Uayamon in Uayamon, Mexico (outside Campeche) We’d agreed on a destination wedding and when we saw Hacienda Uayamon, we were blown away by its history and immense beauty.

We wanted our closest friends and family to celebrate with us at an unforgettable location.

The ceremony took place in an old, rural chapel on the grounds and the reception was held outside by the 100-year-old Ceiba tree.

We love the relaxed, fun-loving Mexican culture and wanted a place not a lot of people have visited before. The Hacienda is so breathtaking and bohemian, we used a lot of green foliage, local flowers, natural candlelight and wooden touches to keep it organic and complement its surroundings.

Guest Count: About 85 If You Knew then What You Know Now: The wedding process leading to marriage is not all unicorns and butterflies. Everyone romanticizes the process but it’s real life. Sure, it’s exciting and wonderful, but a lifelong commitment between two perfectly imperfect people is hard work ... and bridal magazines and pretty Instagram wedding accounts don’t always reflect that. It was a heavy, stress period because we were also remodeling our house while planning the wedding. There were moments I’d question all my decisions but on one of those dark evenings my (now) husband texted me, “It hasn’t always been clear, blue, sunny skies, but I wouldn’t trade a single day for 100 years the other way.” And in that moment, I knew it would all be OK. Advice To Other Brides: • Take premarital classes. I strongly believe it’s an essential foundation for any relationship.

• Plan the wedding YOU want. I’m sure other brides can agree that someone’s feelings will get hurt along the way. But guess what?

They’ve had their wedding or will have one one day, so don’t get influenced so easily because you’ll regret it the minute it’s over.

• Don’t be a bridezilla because snapping at your mom in front of everyone won’t make the day perfect. Also, your vendors will always remember you ... and not in a good way.

• Have fun but remember what a wedding really symbolizes. Focus on the day after the party and every day after that. I remember having such a blast and being surrounded by so much love on our wedding day but my sweetest reward is coming home to my husband after a long workday.

They Met: We met by chance one afternoon, while enjoying some midday drinks with friends.

The Wedding: It was at the Four Seasons Resort Rancho Encantado in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Our wedding ceremony took place on the outside terrace of the Aspen Ballroom at the Four Seasons.

Why That Location: Santa Fe itself is incredible, but the Four Seasons property truly lends itself to reinvention. We were able to break the “traditional southwestern” mold.

Did Destination Influence The Theme: Yes! Santa Fe and Rancho Encantado both played a huge part of our theme/vibe.

Number Of Guests: 30 Something Special: We really wanted our wedding to encompass both of our personalities, and one of our favorite elements was our guests name placements. We decided to give each of our guests a personalized trophy of a race horse, which served homage to Cody’s love of horses and horse racing.

If You Knew Then What You Know Now: I’d take the “mishaps” in stride. The pressure of planning the perfect wedding is real, but I think it’s extremely important to follow your heart and plan something that you as a couple want to share forever.

Advice: Don’t freak out. Everything will be okay!

Wedding Day Weather: Perfect. About 80 degrees and sunny with a slight breeze.

Where Do You Live Now: We live in El Paso and never plan on leaving.

The serial killer with a heart, confesses that he has always wanted to go out for banana splits, replant the lemon tree that keeps dying, and never wants to miss a pizza night. With tears in her eyes, (and ours) Rita says yes.

f you’re like me, deciding whether or not to invite kids to a wedding is simple! I don’t have kids, so why would I want them there? Done, no kids it is. Simple, right? Now on to bigger issues like cake flavors and toppers.

I’ve read so many wedding stories that say the same thing: children sleep through most of the festivities anyway! When not inviting children, it could also be a great excuse for parents to have a night out to party. Not to mention, the amount of money saved by having adult-only weddings.

Keep in mind though, that some people you were hoping would attend may not be able to if they can’t afford childcare for the night or prefer not to leave their children. The decision is yours, but make sure that it is worth it for you not to have the attendance of a few friends and family members.
