Pin placements will be difficult but not impossible (the tournament committee sets the pin locations).

Sign up for the 2024-2025 Greater Volusia Tennis League (GVTL) season is currently underway! Last season, the Club fielded a total of ten teams including Women’s and Mixed teams.Two of our teams this past season finished as league Champions! Rosters for GVTL must be turned in no later than August 30 with the season beginning on September 23
The 9-week season for the fall “fun” session of the Florida Team Pickleball League Inc. (FTPLI) will run from October through mid-December. Registration opens on August 26. The FTPLI offers Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles at a variety of levels which includes 50 & over as well as 65 & over divisions

THE 3 VOLLEYS: BLOCK, PUNCH, SWING

The volley is one of the simplest yet trickiest shots in tennis. The challenge lies in choosing the right type of volley for each situation, which can be simplified into three categories: block, punch, and swing The main distinction between these volleys is the size of your backswing, determined by the speed of the incoming ball.
If the ball is coming quickly, use the pace of the incoming ball to block it back with minimal racquet movement (photo 1). This reflex shot often doesn't allow time for stepping.
For a medium-speed shot, aim to punch through the volley by turning your shoulders to lengthen your backswing (photo 2). Many players mistakenly increase their backswing by moving their arms back instead of their shoulders.
With a slow, higher ball, you have more time to turn your shoulders and take the racquet back slightly (photo 3). This allows for a more offensive swing volley, or even a full groundstroke swing before the ball bounces
Next time you're at the net, adjust your backswing to match the speed of the incoming ball to choose the correct volley block, punch, or swing!
