Dear Hammock Beach Members:

We hope all our member mothers had a great Mother’s Day last month and wishing all our member fathers a Happy Father’s Day this month.

After a very busy spring break season, the Club is also anticipating a very busy summer season. Here are a few reminders to ensure seamless club amenity access for you, your family, and your friends:

• Please be sure to renew your Extended Family Member cards (members’ parents, adult children over 24 years old, and grandchildren) with the Membership Office. Extended Family Cards expire at the end of each calendar year.

• In addition, please be reminded that completed Houseguest Forms must be received at least 5 business days prior to the arrival day of your houseguest (unaccompanied guests of members). A $35 plus tax late fee will be charged for Houseguest requests received less than five days before the arrival date. Houseguest Privileges will be extended for up to eight houseguests per stay while residing in a member’s residence without paying rent, fees, or other considerations to the member.

• All Members, Extended Family Members, and Houseguests must carry and present their club cards at the point of sale to ensure accurate posting of charges and to access all amenities.

• Each Beach Club or Full Golf membership may bring up to four guests with them to the Fantasy Pool Complex at no charge; however, more than four guests (maximum of eight) will each be charged a $15 plus tax Guest Fee to the sponsoring member’s account.

Please remember that Afternoon Tea, beginning this month, will be on the first Tuesday of each month and the Ice Cream Saturday offering will be every Saturday.

Remember to mark your calendars for our annual Independence Holiday fireworks display on Saturday, July 6th on the Champions event lawn, beginning at 9:00pm.

pickleball tip

SERVE AND STAY OR RETURN AND RUN

In our previous pickleball tip, we went over some of the rules that are enforced while playing the sport. One of the topics we covered was the Two-Bounce Rule which simply states that when the ball is served (in singles or doubles), the receiving side must let the ball bounce before returning followed by the serving team letting the next shot bounce as well, thus two bounces. When starting a pickleball point, remember that you should always either “Serve and Stay” or “Return and Run.”

The Two-Bounce Rule tends to catch many tennis players that are transitioning to pickleball as they are accustomed to a “Serve and Volley” strategy in tennis that is not allowed in pickleball. One easy way to remember not to get caught in this mistake is to “Serve and Stay.” If your side is serving, simply stay back after the serve and let your opponent’s return bounce. Depending on the quality on your third shot, your next course of action is to work your way to the Non-Volley Zone or the “Kitchen.”

On the return side, it is always a good idea to “Return and Run” towards the net. The goal when returning is to keep your opponent(s) back by hitting a deep return and then quickly working your way to Kitchen which is where most pickleball players want to spend most of their time.

For some, the rules of pickleball can be difficult to learn at first. Always remember during the start of a point, one team should “Serve and Stay” while the other should “Return and Run!”

SNS Nails, also known as Signature Nail Systems, is a popular nail dipping system that is praised for its durability and long-lasting color. Unlike traditional acrylic or gel nails, SNS does not require UV light for setting. The process involves dipping the nails into a colored powder, which is then sealed with a clear top coat. SNS Nails are known for being odorfree and less damaging to the natural nail compared to other nail enhancement methods. The result is a strong, lightweight, and natural-looking manicure that can last up to three to four weeks. This service will be available exclusively on Saturdays and Sundays.
