EDITOR’S LETTER TEAM + COVER

WELCOME TO 2022.

While no one can predict what the year ahead will bring, the team here at Cove magazine are optimistic that the next 12 months will be positive, productive and prosperous for the region, the country and the world in general.

To get everyone off to a great start, we have launched this year with our annual Health and Wellbeing edition which includes a special 20-page ‘Complete Wellness’ guide.

Showcasing a range of services from rejuvenating beauty treatments to the latest health advice, inside you will find a plethora of information to have you looking good, feeing great and embracing a positive mindset for the months ahead.

One couple who are certainly looking forward to 2022 are Sanctuary Cove resident’s Jamie Arscott and Vicki Scotts.

The entrepreneurial pair have recently ticked a big item off their bucket list, producing their own full-length film starring Luke Hemsworth which was shot in the beautiful Byron Bay region.

Jamie, Vicki and Luke give us exclusive access behind the scenes in our feature interview which starts on page 22.

Still in the world of Arts and Culture, we also chat to rising theatre star Courtney Monsma.

The Gold Coast local is set to melt hearts when she takes on the role of Princess Anna in the QPAC production of Frozen the Musical which starts in February … a must-see for children of all ages.

Meanwhile, our contributors have been out and about over the summer to bring you a host of interesting stories.

Don’t miss Tony’s insightful article on organic wine-making practices; Brooke’s deep dive into the waters around Cairns; Chris’s road-trip in the new Maserati Ghibli Hybrid and Nick’s 2022 forecast for the property market.

Fresh from being named one of Australia’s top 10 food bloggers, with over one million hits on her website, Marj takes a foray into the food culture of the Scenic Rim and also explores the hinterland behind Noosa’s iconic beaches to discover a world of quaint villages, artisan brewers and untouched beauty.

Which brings me to our latest competition … to get your year off to the perfect start we are giving one lucky reader the chance to win a family break at the stunning Fairshore Noosa Apartments so be sure to get your entry in.

Hero Collection

Gold Coast-based Calleija has made history as the only Australian jeweller to win Hero Diamonds in the final ever Argyle Pink Diamonds Tender.

The 2021 collection, titled The Journey Beyond™, includes the final and most magnificent diamonds produced from the famous Western Australia Argyle Mine which closed in November 2020.

For Calleija Founder and Jeweller, John Calleija, the success was one of the proudest moments in the company’s history.

“To win any Hero Tender Diamond is extremely difficult and such a great honour, but to win Lot 1 Argyle Eclipse™, the largest diamond in the tender, and Argyle Bohème™, the last ever incredibly rare Red Hero Tender diamond, is an absolute dream come true,” he said. calleija.com

Fabulous Foodie

A huge congratulations to our food writer and Gold Coast dining expert Marj Osborne, whose Good Food Gold Coast was recently ranked as No. 7 on the Top 10 food blogs in Australia on the Australian Food Blogger website.

Having previously reviewed food for the Mietta's dining guides, Marj began her website in 2011 and quickly established her reputation as a food writer. By 2018, over 1 million unique visitors had visited her website.

Her initial goal was to promote great local produce and food experiences at a time when the Gold Coast was not seen as a food destination. Thankfully, that perception has changed.

Now, as the dining climate evolves, so has the focus of her website. From affordable dining during the GFC and 'good news' stories during lockdown to interviews and backstories of producers and chefs, her blog now stresses our identity as a food community, growing, making and eating locally. 'What is Gold Coast cuisine?' she asks, 'And how does each eatery contribute to the whole?' foodgoldcoast.com.au
