And I said, ‘because it’s fantastic’.
And you have to make those choices, you have to be able to tell if something’s good or not.
And it was that script. I mean, it was just perfect.
I think my character was kind of hard to play because she was aloof and she didn’t choose the most charming man in the world.
But the story is remarkable and so, so well written.
And I’m happy that I was in this moment where romantic comedies were doing really well because I enjoy them and also they’re fun to work on.
You don’t have to take on anything hard or difficult or uncomfortable, it truly is joyful work.

When you look back at the trajectory of your career, is there anything that surprises you the most? I think it’s all a surprise, really it is.
I grew up in a town of like 5,000 people. I was probably the last person anybody expected to be in this position.
I am very conscious of my privilege, that’s why I continue to work and work hard because I want to give back mostly to my kids and hopefully, the world too because I know how fortunate I am to have such a great job.
And I don’t want to retire because I like using my brain.
I love creating, I love the art form, but I also feel privileged to have this job.
Not many people are in my position to be able to work, you know, there are actors that don’t get the jobs, right, and I can still get good jobs.
So I’m just going to keep plugging along because I am lucky, you know.
I hate to use that word but there is a good part of it that I feel lucky.
I guess that’s what I’m most surprised about.
When you are not acting or in between jobs, how do you spend your time? I hike a lot. I love to walk in nature, it gets me out of my head, and I love to exercise, so the combination is perfect for me.
I want to get a horse.
I haven’t had a horse in a while and I really want to get that back into my life, because I’ve been missing it.
I do yoga. I love to cook. I love to cook healthy food. I love to eat healthy.
That’s kind of it – pretty boring.
