IT’S A BIG YEAR 2019
is a year of celebration at the Travel Village Group, as we look forward to our 60th birthday! Phil’s grandfather started the business in 1959, a year when UK postcodes are introduced for the first time, as an experiment, in Norwich and Barclays became the first bank to use a computer! We’re sure you can imagine that there have been a vast number of changes in the way that we travel over those years. Our world has become broader and more exotic as countries open their borders, destinations are made more accessible, and the means of travel are more expansive than ever before. Our 4th generation family business has seen a great many significant milestones in the travel industry - from smoking being banned on flights to the Channel Tunnel opening, the boom of budget airlines to the importance of ecotourism,
and let’s not forget we’ll be here post Brexit too! But none of these have had a bigger impact than the birth of the internet. It has revolutionised the way we discover the world and therefore search for travel ideas, buy and even share trips. It’s a great tool, but it’s not everything. If there’s one thing that we hope you agree has remained consistent (or got even better) over the last 60 years; it’s our award-winning service to you. We’ll be investing heavily in our staff again this year, sending them away to gain an understanding of new ships, tours and destinations so that they can give you advice and tips for your trips based on their experience rather than what they’ve googled! We do this because you deserve to get the best from your hard-earned holiday time. Thank you for supporting our business all these years, this year and hopefully many more to come.
