With Shadowhunters wrapping up its final season, we couldn’t wait to talk to Jade about what’s to come! From behind-the-scenes moments to post-series ambitions, the multi-talented star is breaking it all down.

Let’s talk Shadowhunters! What initially drew you to the show?

When I realized the show was tied to The Mortal Instruments, I was instantly excited! I went deep into fan art, fan-fiction, everything I could find. When I started seeing the cast being announced on social media, I had a deep sense that these guys were going to become my friends. During that month, I auditioned five times. When I found out I got the role, I immediately made a fan a video to announce to fans that I was going to play Meliorn! A week later, I was on set shooting my first scene with Emeraude. By then, I had read the first two books and was hooked!

What should viewers be expecting from these last final episodes?

EPIC-NESS. The series is going to build to a great crescendo where all hell literally breaks loose. Alliances will be formed. The Seelies will be way more present. And a war is coming...

Any memorable moments from filming the last season?

So many good ones that we all laugh about when we see each other. We worked a lot of late nights and it’s always funny to start seeing people lose it a little and have the giggles kick in. I don’t want to say too much because it might reveal too much!

What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned while on the Shadowhunters set?

SO much. I learned that if I stick with what I believe in, things turn around for the better in the end. I learned that my life is beautiful. That I appreciate what I am able to do, and who I am doing it with. That I love these guys who were acting with me. That I have something very special going on here. And that the fandom are 100% with us along the entire process. Some of the best parts were doing instagram-lives in our trailers and tease about what we are doing.

Is there anybody that you wish you had more scenes with?

By the end of the series, it was pretty wellrounded and satisfying for the level of interactions with each character. I wish I had spoken to Chai as Jordan Kyle. But sometimes Meliorn decides not to say anything to people, and just kind of stare... haha!

Let’s talk music! You’re currently working on your debut EP; what kind of sound should fans be expecting to hear?

I’m putting every breath of every day in this project. It’s definitely a pop EP/album. I have influences like tropical-house, hip-hop, trap, but all within the realm of pop. I’m creating a pop artist but we’ll see where it evolves. I’m inspired by many music and art cultures around the world.

What inspired the EP’s title, Love Letters to a Fandom?

It’s my way to thank the Shadowhunters and my Fandom for having changed my life in the way they have. For having embraced me as I am and supported my every move. I get to travel the world and meet all of them and we have a strong connection that goes way beyond the TV show. Now, we are going to have an eternal relationship in a whole new way.

What’s on your bucket list for this year?

Release my debut EP/album and make fun epic music videos for each song. I want to collaborate with the fans and create a new era in my life. I want to continue evolving as a human and be the most joyful I have ever been.
