T U E S D AY NIGHT HEFFRON Week 11 - 15 December 2015 Trophy Race: • Overcast, Showers The 2015 Easts Trophy Race heralded a new name on the 38 year old honour roll when Harrison Bailey outsprinted his 3 breakaway companions to win the coveted race in commanding style. It’s been a bit of a break through season for the up and coming GPM Stulz rider with a well publicised win in the Wollongong Grand Prix and now the infamous Trophy Race to his credit. The race has been dominated in the past few years by Budget Forklift’s Jake Kauffmann and Sky pro rider Chris Sutton so the win could be the beginning of a new era. The race wasn’t without the usual drama when over 50 riders started the 20 lap race. The stronger A grade riders put everyone under pressure in the opening laps and with 10 laps to go the field was reduced to less than 20 riders. A threatening storm rolling in only added to the tension and when a solid 4 man break of Bailey, Bradley Mills Dan Bonello and Jesse Coyle built a gap it was clear the winner was already up the road. Although the bold call to shorten the race by 2 laps because of the threatening storm was questioned by some of the chasers, the outcome really was never in doubt. Brad Mills backed himself in the sprint early but Harrison Bailey had too much speed and savoured the win with an almost Liam Kelly like victory salute. Dan Bonello completed the podium but credit also to Jesse Coyle who started the season in B grade and had a stellar ride.

T U E S D AY NIGHT HEFFRON Week 11 - 15 December 2015 Trophy Race (B & C Grade): • Overcast, Showers The B and C grade support race was run over 15 laps and was a welcome chance for riders to test themselves using a different race plan other being chased down by A grade. The 40 strong field got off to a fast start as the stronger B grade riders flexed their muscle setting a fast pace however the bunch had most moves covered and it was largely intact group of 30 riders who contested the finally. In the sprint Sydney Club rider Beau Heath was the strongest notching up his 2nd win of the summer after winning C grade 4 weeks ago. Neil Stanton another recent G grade winner and now riding B grade got 2nd in front of a fast finishing Sarah Roy Big shout out to Orica Greenedge pro Sarah for taking the time to support local club racing and an impressive result considering some well credentialed locals. Also the only other female in the race Ingvild Tangen who rode strongly as always and finished.
