JONATHON EMERICK
LEADS C GRADE HOME
FOR OVERALL HONOURS On a dramatic night of racing C grade defied all the odds to claim a rare outright win with Jono Emerick edging out Peter Cridland and Jono Colovos in a tight sprint. Nicole Wilson stormed home to claim fourth spot and the women’s prize while Finn Kane had his best TNH result to complete the podium. Despite A grade riding some of the fastest times all season, between 2:38 to 2:43 a lap, they couldn’t dent the C grade advantage, however an unfortunate fall with 5 laps to go did take some of the sting out of the closing laps. The entire Heffron community wishes Liam Kelly and John Hadley a speedy recovery from their nasty shoulder and rib injuries. There were strong fields with 120+ riders and once again, this summers prevailing southerly winds resulted in fast lap times across all grades. This didn’t appear to help B grade who were caught by B1 after 7 laps and 2 laps later by A grade. With C grade well and truly ‘up the road’ it then came down to grade glory for the chasers. Jack Bennett was back to his winning ways out sprinting Dylan George and Brad Mills. Hot on their wheels was Devraj Grewal who was way too good for B grade and will be much more at home with a move to A grade next week. Will Heffernan nabbed his best B grade result with second while Ryland Short proved he’s getting the hang of Heffron with a good result for third. No changes to the overall Series lead with Jack Bennett still clear in the Skoda green jersey. Chris Simpson still leads B grade. Eline Smit is still the Queen of C grade while Hattie Lowden is looking after the Women’s jersey for Eline
