JACK BENNETT WINS FROM BREAKAWAY
The final 15 lap Handicap for 2020 delivered another night of
top class racing as Jack Bennett and Michael Cupitt repeated their breakaway effort from last week, single handedly caught a huge B grade field, mopped up C grade, providing the
perfect platform for Bennett to launch his race winning sprint. The only rider to push Bennett to the line was Simon Ball who backed up his strong finish last week with another fine ride.
The best of the rest, all a few lengths back were Michael Bolt
beating home Angus Wilson and Peter O’Connor who proved he’s still got a few podiums left in him yet.
Pat Curtin has improved rapidly over the past 2 months of
racing and proved it with an impressive 6th place to claim first C grade. Josh Heffernan nailed yet another virtual C grade
podium with second and must feel the win getting closer. Another C grade podium regular Tom Collins came home third.
A reduced womens field didn’t stop Nicole Wilson and Hattie
Lowden contesting it till the finish with both girls getting in the top 10.
All eyes now shift to next weeks 43rd Easts Trophy Race with defending Champion Jack Bennett the red hot favourite. 6pm start with a 20 lap scratch race for the Trophy and a 15 lap handicap for B and C grades.
All the usual Xmas cheer and Heffron hospitality will out for the final race of 2020
