TUESDAY NIGHT HEFFR 1 November 2016 While most of Sydney were stumbling around from post Melbourme Cup Day lunches, 104 of Sydney’s thoroughbred cyclists were lining up for the real race that stops the nation. And what another exciting edition week 5 turned out to be with the second fastest A grade speed of 45.7kph average recorded on Strava for the 15 lap race. Another large B grade field resulted in another staggered start with the stronger back markers joining the rest of B grade after 5 laps. B grade set a solid pace but nothing was going to hold back an on fire A grade, even if they didn’t have Darcy Ellerm-Norton who is on racing duty in China. Even C grade kept a solid pace but when the entire race came together it was obvious the night belonged to the big hitters. Mobius Future Racing had it under control in the closing laps trying to repeat their effort from last week, however it was couple of late individual moves from Anthony Shippard and Dan Bonello which created the perfect platform for in form CX rider Garry Millburn to launch his winning move from 300m out. Jake Kauffmann no jockey on the bike came home super strong for second while Alex Nazarewicz had to settle for 3rd in the trifecta. Park Bikes chief steward Nash Kent followed in 4th and Bradley Mills repeated his fine effort from last week with another 5th Timothy Kersten had way to much strength and race pedigree for the rest of B grade and after 2 races back is now knocking on the door of a start in A grade Angus Whittle in his first year of racing at Heffron showed he’s now mastered the track with a storming finish to come in 11th overall winning C grade an impressive 6 places in front of the next C grade rider Peter Pattison.
