NAZAREWICZ AND BENNETT GO 1,2 FOR CRIT DAWGS Last seasons Series Winner Alex Nazarewicz was back on the top step after unleashing his blistering sprint while his new season
Attaquer Crit Dawg teammate Jack Bennett made it an impressive 1, 2 for the squads first win of the summer.
Just under 100 riders turned up to face another perfect night for
racing with the predictable 50kph+ NE wind once again playing its
part in the outcome resulting in only 40 riders making it to the finish. B1 had a much more cohesive start to the race and managed to reel
in B grade after only 3 laps with the 40 strong bunch setting an honest sub 3min per lap tempo.
This was no match for the sub 2.50sec lap times A grade were
producing and with 6 laps to go it was all on to mop up C grade and flex some muscle and power.
The final catch with 3 laps to go was clinical and swift as the A grade removed the entire field save for a handful of B grades with only 20 riders left to contest the finish.
Crit Dawgs have been sniffing for victory since week 1 and the team’s motto ‘every dog has its day’ finally came true. Nash Kent’s return to racing continues to improve with 3rd place this week, while Nero’s sprinter Chris Powell was in the mix with 4th.
Our French visitor Simon Lhulier has also settled into swing of
Tuesday Night racing and not only impressed with 5th overall but
also 1st B grade. James Everett and Jason Thomas completed the B grade ‘podium’ with a mention to Peter O’Connor and Jason Morgan the only other B grade riders to finish in the front group.
The big news of the night belongs to the undisputed winner of C
grade Gino Iannazzo proving that success finally comes to those who wait, even if you have to wait till you’re 60. Good rides also to the remainder of C grade who continued to race in the 2nd group –
former US pro David Glick in his first race at Heffron claiming 2nd and Dan Kennedy also on the comeback trail to get 3rd.
Congrats to all the finishers on another tough windy night at Heffron
with a special shout out to Anna Booth to claim 1st female finisher in only her second start at Heffron.

THE KING of HE ANTHONY SPURGEON
Call him washed up, call him a retiree, just don’t ever
forget that he is THE KING of HEFFRON. No other rider in the history of the world has ridden more laps or won as many races here.....#fact
THE KING rates for us the top place getters of Tuesday Night Heffron Week 4.
1st: Alex NAZAREWICZ (Manly) A. Loads of promise and I’d say a just in time result. But son, even if you are going 1-2 with a team mate, don’t soft pedal from 100m out. Didn’t you learn anything on the NERO extreme high altitude training camp?
3rd B: Jason THOMAS (Northern Syd.) B. It’s been a while since I visited the “Upper North Shore”. Unlike you, I don’t have staff to drive me, so I ride a bike. Try harder, become a winner and we can start calling you JT.
2nd: Jack BENNETT (Randwick) A My advice: Back in my day a music event usually involved some sort of a trip. These days you take things and everything speeds up. Oh, right!?
1st C: Daniel Iannazzo (Easts) C. My memory is fading, but did my mother mention you worked on the concreting of Heffron? If so this is historic, as the council are looking for relics for a museum.
3rd: Nash KENT (Parklife) A. A hero to many west of Anzac Parade (aka The Great Unwashed), but not to me. News to me is you seem to get better with age and aged you are my friend.
2nd C: David Glick (Day License) C. WTF? Who races Heffron on a day license and almost steals a win? That’s like me turning up to an ESCC Junior race and grabbing an easy win. Quietly it has been a while since my last win so that is an option. What do you reckon Liam?
4th: Chris POWELL (St George) A. I was stumbling home from the pub the other morning. Did I see you riding trackwork at Randwick? Does Miller have video? And how does a power meter work on a horse? 5th & 1st B: Simon LHUILIER (Peleton) B. Welcome to the real side of the harbour. Need I say any more. The King has spoken. And PS. Have the French discovered beer yet? 2nd B: James EVERETT:(Parklife) B. We need to have a quiet, serious and private chat. It’s about the 3 year growth on your top lip. Call me, don’t be embarassed.
3rd C: Daniel Kennedy (Sydney) C. Daniel Kennedy. I don’t know how you have time to train, race and hold a fulltime position in the Kennedy family as featured in the TV show Neighbours. Cracking stuff. 1st Woman: Anna BOOTH (Hawthorn). Hawthorn? Who would have thought someone from Melbourne could come up to Sydney, cycle around town not turning right from the left lane and then race on a circuit with corners of both left AND right directions?
