Articulation Site Plan
Upon reviewing the Hayden Flour Mill location, the vast majority of the existing land use is a parking lot. Due to very low to no use at all, the site creates an abandoned feeling. The true meaning and historical significance of the site is overshadowed by its lack of use and visitors, not allowing its true value to be represented.
Existing open area + Amphitheater Surrounded by native planting
By using the sites historical features, their presence is emphasized by incorporating them in the outdoor designed spaces. Creating a clear space to ease the transition between the built environment into the landscape.
Designed shading structure allows for more successful attraction of users
Attempting to tie the user to the site, the design forces you to be in the present, forcing the user to focus on their path decision and direction. Incorporating many of the beautiful desert features, the site allows for a better understanding of an arid landscape while tying back to the site’s historical presence.
