5TH STREET HABITAT PROJECT DESCRIPTION 5th Street Habitat is the vision to enhance downtown Tempe’s sense of place by creating another timeless streetscape. Downtown Tempe’s most popular amenities such as Tempe Town Lake and Mill Avenue have overshadowed the potential of 5th Street, until now.
vs
From the residential neighborhoods at Farmer Ave all the way to Sun Devil Stadium at College Avenue, 5th Street Habitat creates a strong connection to the native Sonoran Desert context in which it is located. With the implementation of green infrastructure techniques, 5th Street Habitat creates livable and enjoyable spaces for humans and wildlife alike, places where we can be proud to call home.
GOALS - Create a timeless streetscape with a captivating sense of place - Enhance community connection through walkability and adaptable programing - Improve all methods of transit by designing safer routes - Increase tree canopy and vegetation to provide for biodiversity, health and comfort - Implement green infrastructure techniques to benefit community health and livability
