Horsham schools pick up awards at Rock Challenge phil dennett News Editor

Students from three Horsham schools collected a clutch of awards as they competed before 700 spectators in the Rock Challenge. Millais School won first place in the overall Rock Challenge for their session. Their Princess Tale of vanity, greed, temptation and friendship won awards

I thought it was totally electric. I’m proud to see that the young people have put so much hard work and thought into their performances for concept, drama, soundtrack, costuming character, visual enhancement, entertainment, lighting, strage crews, and video performance. In a different session Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee School, portrayed the fight by women to achieve voting status. Queen Elizabeth School won awards for choreography, concept, soundtrack, set design and

function, costuming character, enhancement , lighting, entertainment, stage crews, Spirit of Rock Challenge, and performers choice. Tanbridge House School, performed a piece called “Wrong Will Be Right”. Tanbridge collected awards for student leadership, stage use, soundtrack, entertainment, lighting, stage crews and video performance. The event at the Hawth, Crawley, was supported by the Pauline Quirke Academy, West Sussex County Council –Think Family, Sussex Police, Anti-Bullying Works, Ansvar Insurance, CEOP and YPO. Mayor of Crawley, Councillor Raj Sharma, first place prize presenter to Millais School said: “I thought it was totally electric. I’m proud to see that the young people have put so much hard work and thought into their performances.” Leader of West Sussex County Council, Councillor Louise Goldsmith said: “It was a really inspiring evening to see the talent of the young children but also to see the thought they have put in. Some of them dealt with some really important issues and I think that it is amazing that they were aware of that and wanted to express that in the drama.
